"I Love Lucy" is a classic American television sitcom that aired from 1951-1957. The show starred Lucille Ball and her real-life husband Desi Arnaz. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential sitcoms in television history. The show follows the misadventures of Lucy Ricardo, a quirky housewife with aspirations of stardom, and her Cuban bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, who often finds himself caught up in Lucy's schemes. The Ricardos live in a New York City apartment building, where they interact with their landlords and best friends, Fred and Ethel Mertz (played by William Frawley and Vivian Vance, respectively). The show was the first to be filmed in front of a live studio audience using multiple cameras, a technique that became the standard for sitcom production. It was also one of the first television programs to portray an interracial marriage (Lucy being Caucasian and Ricky being Cuban). But will this groundbreaking show still hit over 70 years after originally airing? Listen as the S1E1 boys deep dive I Love Lucy's first episode, "The Girls Want to Go to the Nightclub". Starring: Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, & William Frawley www.S1E1POD.com MERCH Instagram & X (Twitter): @S1E1Pod

Vivian Vance is best known for playing Ethel Mertz, Lucy's landlady and best friend on the classic TV sitcom, I Love Lucy. There is so much more to her than just that, though. Vivian was part of the golden age of movies and theater in the 1940s. She also became a genuine real-life friend to Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. This is Vivian Vance's story... Podcast Notes: https://ancestralfindings.com/vivian-vance-i-love-lucy/
“Lucy Goes to Scotland” (January 6, 1956) It's our second I Love Lucy episode and also our second “It was all a dream!” installment of Weirdest Episode Ever. So what is to be made of a dream sequence where Lucy Ricardo is ultimately fed to a dragon? Perhaps not much, but if you want to approach it from a perspective of dream analysis, it's very likely that Lucy's sacrifice has something to do with Lucille Ball's impending divorce and her allowing celebrity to triumph over her personal life. And that's not even saying anything about Vivian Vance and William Frawley playing a two-headed dragon that can't stand being yoked to its other half. Listen to our previous I Love Lucy outing, about how it just might have made the first gay joke in sitcom history. The logo for Weirdest Episode Ever was designed by Ian O'Phelan. The theme music was composed by Nick Loiacano.
Do you have some explaining to do? Do you poop out at parties? Well aside from that new Gorillaz album, this week we have a lot to celebrate! We walk down slapstick memory lane and learn about the life and epic career of the queen of comedy, Lucille Ball. For a woman who never gave up and put such a positive spin on things, how can you not love her? To send in topics of interest, please email quiteabitpodcast@gmail.comFollow us on instagram/facebook/youtube:https://linktr.ee/quiteabitpodcast Sources for this episode: “Love, Lucy” - an autobiography by Lucille Ballhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucille_Ball
They're here! You're next! This week, Cody and Matt visit the beautiful Santa Mira to find that not everything is what it seems. They discuss the simmering underbelly of suburbia, the age of paranoia, and the legendary Hollywood witch hunt that may or may not have directly inspired this film. They also talk television royalty, Uncle Ira's 10x10 plot of land, and the missed opportunity of not casting Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance. That derailment alone proves that the boys aren't pod people... yet.So take a drive down the suspiciously jammed highway with us... but watch out for the screaming man along the shoulder of the road. Thanks for listening!Instagram/Twitter: @nighthowlspod
This week we discuss ‘Lucy's Showbiz Swan Song‘ Season 2, episode 12. Ricky needs an act for his ‘Gay 90's' revue, and Lucy decides this will be her last hurrah before having her baby. Pepito Pérez AKA Pepito the Clown makes an appearance and we discuss some of the fun ways wardrobe tried to hide Lucy's baby belly. We discuss a lot of songs and barbershop quartets, we even read a fun quote from Vivian Vance that gives us a look into how the cast thinks and interacts with each other! Welcome to October 15, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate love at first sight and bringing back that squeaky feeling. The television show I Love Lucy first aired on October 15, 1951 and for audiences it was love at first sight. That's because the show featuring Lucille Ball, Dezi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley was a program of firsts, including the first show to be performed before a live studio audience. In four of its six seasons, I Love Lucy was the most-watched television show in the United States and to this day it still stands on TIME Magazine's list of top 100 shows. On National I Love Lucy Day, catch up on your favorite episodes and fall in love all over again. In the mid 1800s settlers from all over Europe brought their cheese making secrets to Wisconsin. By 1922 there were more than 2,800 factories in the rich farmland of this state. Today Wisconsin produces over 2 billion pounds of cheese each year. This process starts with separating the curd from the whey, but the curds that eventually become cheddar are the gold standard for snacking. These ones contain the long proteins that squeak against our teeth. If your curds have lost that squeaky feeling, a few seconds in the microwave can bring it back. On National Cheese Curd Day fry up a batch of the freshest you can find and enjoy a true American favorite. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day.
