Today I'm joined by Chris M. King, the self-proclaimed "Executive Witch Doctor."  We swapped stories about building businesses from the ground up (or in our cases, from our car trunks) and dove into the nitty-gritty of what it really takes to succeed. Chris shared some fascinating insights on the psychology and science behind success that had me questioning everything I thought I knew. If you've ever felt like you're faking it in your business or struggling to turn your big dreams into reality, this one is for you. Can't-miss moments:The surprising reason Chris chose to build a business out of his car trunk instead of taking a stable job (and what it means for you and your goals)... Why "fake it till you make it" might be doing more harm than good (and what Chris and I recommend instead)...Contrarian advice: don't talk about your dreams. Chris reveals unexpected downside of talking about your goals, and how it could be sabotaging your success without you even realizing it...Do you have what Chris calls, "Loose Tooth Syndrome?" He breaks down how and why you might be stuck in a cycle of "wanting" instead of "having"...Chris's personal triangle of success that he claims guarantees he can't fail (and how you can apply it to your own business)...Chris's bio:Chris M. King's life is a testament to resilience and transformation. Despite a tumultuous childhood marked by grief, rage, abuse, and addiction, he defied the odds. Overcoming a prolonged academic journey, Chris transitioned from an unfinished undergrad to an NCAA hockey player within just a year of learning to skate. His path included two failed marriages, struggles with mental illness, and a shift from a lucrative career to becoming a poverty-stricken radio personality.Navigating unconventional career shifts, including marketing a neuroscience institute and a tech role that led to dismissal, Chris faced unemployment. Choosing an audacious path, he built a successful company from his car trunk, making a significant impact on the real estate industry.Termed a "witch doctor" or "irritated Buddha" Chris is the author of "Renegotiate Your Existence: Unlock Your Impossible Life." The period marking the conclusion of a woman's reproductive years, typically occurring between the ages of 45 and 55, signifies a phase when her body undergoes significant hormonal readjustment. Termed the climacteric period, this transition often manifests with symptoms such as night sweats, weight fluctuations, cognitive fogging, and mood swings, which can adversely impact a woman's quality of life. Even after menstruation stops, hormonal fluctuations persist, potentially elevating the risk of conditions like osteoporosis and certain cancers. “A lot of women are very thin and their bones are going to become fragile,” said Dr. Dana Churchill, a naturopath, nutritionist, and medical director of The Churchill Center. Dr. Churchill uses proactive measures at his clinic to mitigate these risks. One of them is rhythmic bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which aims to restore hormonal balance, enhance well-being and promote longevity. “You're getting a full blown cycle, which really gets [you] the benefits of decreasing heart disease, increasing bone density ... your energy will be sustained throughout the day,” said Dr. Churchill. Join us as Dr. Churchill explains the benefits of rhythmic plant-based HRT therapy and the nuances of balancing out your hormone levels. ⭕️ Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV

The Biden administration is targeting yet another group of Trump electors from 2020, in a bid to criminalize an act that until recently was widely viewed as a legal protection on the elections. During the 2020 elections, dueling electors in several states cast their electoral college votes for Donald Trump instead of Joe Biden. This was because investigations were being carried out into possible fraud in those states, and the dueling electors would allow the vice president to choose which votes to count when the final decision was made. But despite the fact that Democrats have done this historically, the Biden administration is now alleging this was a crime. In this live Q&A with Crossroads host Joshua Philipp, we'll discuss this topic and others, and answer questions from the audience. According to CBS sports, In the futuristic realm of 2031, the concept of birthing a revolutionary "super-league" paradigm in college football gleams with brilliance and feasibility. This epoch coincides perfectly with the expiration of prevailing media rights contracts for major conferences and the esteemed College Football Playoff. Termed as "coterminous," deriving its essence from the Latin roots signifying "shared boundaries," this juncture presents an opportune moment for restructuring collegiate football ownership, fostering symbiotic relationships between educational institutions and their media affiliates.Yet, the current epoch seems ill-fated for such transformative endeavors. Insights gleaned from discussions at the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona, indicate a prevailing sentiment of temporal incongruence with the proposed "super league" notion. Initially broached by a consortium of collegiate leaders, this visionary undertaking mirrors the metamorphosis witnessed by the NFL in the 1960s, under the sagacious guidance of former commissioner Pete Rozelle. Rozelle's visionary persuasions led to the equitable distribution of revenue among NFL franchises, a precedent upheld through decades, even enduring Supreme Court scrutiny.Amidst the looming uncertainties engulfing collegiate sports' trajectory, the 20 luminaries spearheading the "College Sports Tomorrow" initiative brace themselves for a formidable clash against the envisioned futures advocated by the Big Ten and SEC. West Virginia University president and esteemed CST member, Gordon Gee, articulates a resolute stance against relegating pivotal decisions solely to commissioners and athletic directors, advocating for a holistic university perspective in charting the course of collegiate athletics.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Monopoly GO!Get in the game and join your friends. Unlock Your Impossible Life     Take away: You have the power to renegotiate your existence and make the impossible reality by shifting your mindset and energy frequency.   Money Learnings: Chris grew up in a privileged neighborhood financially but had a difficult childhood due to family trauma and issues with his father. He emphasizes the need to change our relationship with money and offers practical tools for repairing and improving that relationship.   Bio: Chris M. King built a life on the pillars of his childhood: grief, rage, abuse, and addiction. Despite taking nine years to earn his associate's degree and leaving his undergrad unfinished, he remarkably transformed into an NCAA hockey player within a year of learning to skate. With two failed marriages, one plagued by mental illness, he later forsook a lucrative career to become a poverty-stricken radio personality in Los Angeles.   Transitioning to marketing a hospital's neuroscience institute without clinical expertise, Chris then shifted to a tech role, which ended in dismissal. Jobless, he spurned a secure future, opting for penniless homelessness as he ambitiously built a company from his car's trunk—today, that very company prospers.   Unconventional as it may be, Chris's journey defies norms. His secret? A resolute choice. Termed an “witch doctor,” “human tuning fork,” or “irritated Buddha,” Chris M. King, author of “Renegotiate Your Existence: Unlock Your Impossible Life,” facilitates transformative expeditions. He draws from spiritual psychology and learns from diverse luminaries like the Flow Research Collective, Dr. Andrew Huberman, and retired US Navy SEALs and US Army Special Forces.   Chris takes individuals and organizations beyond their perceived limits, enabling the realization of the seemingly impossible.   Highlights from this episode: Childhood experiences shape our beliefs and programming as adults. Taking responsibility for your life is the first step in changing your reality. Your outer experiences reflect your inner state. Pay attention to patterns and what's being mirrored back to you. Mindset matters. Shift from scarcity/lack to abundance thinking. Match your frequency to what you desire to attract it. Live in possibility not limitations. Believe you can achieve the impossible then take action. There are no limits except those you impose. Get clear on your life's purpose. Your gifts and talents are perfectly designed to fulfill it. Mislabeling them causes suffering. Ready, fire, aim! Speed creates momentum. Take imperfect action, pivot, and refine. Waiting for perfect conditions gets you stuck.   Links:  https://www.statusflow.net/richersoul   Richer Soul Life Beyond Money. You got rich, now what? The committee overseeing the College Football Playoff has recently reached an agreement on a novel model that will acknowledge the top five ranked conference champions and the following seven highest-ranked teams in the upcoming 12-team format. This information was confirmed by sources to ESPN on Friday.Termed as the 5+7 model, this decision, which was finalized during an in-person meeting in Dallas on Thursday, signifies a departure from the earlier 6+6 proposal. However, it's important to note that unanimous approval from the 11 presidents and chancellors overseeing the CFP is still a prerequisite for this change to be implemented.Despite the majority of the 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick having favored the 5+7 model for some time, they have been cautious about committing due to uncertainties and legal issues surrounding the Pac-12. To address these concerns, the group has introduced a new policy stating that a league must have a minimum of eight members to qualify for an automatic spot in the 12-team field. The initial report of these adjustments came from Yahoo Sports. The original model aimed to reward Power 5 champions and the top Group of 5 winner. However, it was conceived before significant realignment changes, leaving the Pac-12 in a diminished state. Ongoing legal battles between Oregon State and Washington State further complicate the conference's future.According to NCAA bylaws, an FBS conference needs at least eight full FBS members that meet all bowl subdivision requirements. While the NCAA provides a two-year grace period for conferences no longer meeting these requirements, it's worth noting that a two-team league would now be ineligible for the CFP.The CFP board of managers consists of 10 FBS presidents and chancellors, with Washington State president Kirk Schulz representing the Pac-12. Schulz holds the potential to single-handedly impede the format change if he chooses to do so.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!LinkedInThese days every new potential hire can feel like a high stakes wager for your small business. Despite the majority of the 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick having favored the 5+7 model for some time, they have been cautious about committing due to uncertainties and legal issues surrounding the Pac-12. Ongoing legal battles between Oregon State and Washington State further complicate the conference's future. According to NCAA bylaws, an FBS conference needs at least eight full FBS members that meet all bowl subdivision requirements. While the NCAA provides a two-year grace period for conferences no longer meeting these requirements, it's worth noting that a two-team league would now be ineligible for the CFP. The CFP board of managers consists of 10 FBS presidents and chancellors, with Washington State president Kirk Schulz representing the Pac-12. Schulz holds the potential to single-handedly impede the format change if he chooses to do so. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Chris M. King has a history of making seemingly impossible goals a reality. And as it turns out, there is a science to this. Dubbed the “executive witch doctor,” today he is called in when individuals or professional teams have big dreams and little time. Chris built a life on the pillars of his childhood: grief, rage, abuse, and addiction. Termed an “executive shaman,” “human tuning fork,” or “irritated Buddha,” Chris M. Chris M. We'll trace back to Dutton's time as Minister for Home Affairs – it's alleged the Australian Federal Police briefed him about an investigation into the businessman's possible corruption yet, despite this knowledge, the Department of Home Affairs proceeded to enter into contracts with the businessman's company, Radiance International. We look at the implications of this controversial decision and why Peter Dutton needs to address these very concerning events. We also analyse Treasurer Jim Chalmers' announcement of the first-ever wellbeing budget. Termed the Measuring What Matters national wellbeing framework, this budget promises a new perspective on economic decisions. We'll explore how this budget links national finances to the social wellbeing of the community, challenging the conventional focus on abstract concepts like a budget surplus or deficit. However, not everyone is on board with this innovative approach, as critics, including the usual suspects News Corporation and Sky News, seek to discredit the wellbeing budget. Discover why this framework has received both praise and skepticism from different quarters of society. The CFMEU has put forward a bold proposal to fund public and affordable housing through a tax on corporate super profits. Zach Smith, the secretary of the CFMEU, unveiled this campaign at the National Press Club, outlining how a permanent 40% tax on excess profits could generate a substantial $29 billion annually. This significant revenue could then be used to build 53,000 new homes each year, contributing to addressing the estimated shortfall of 750,000 homes by 2041. We'll contrast this with the Labor government's housing proposal, which pales in comparison and has been met with criticism for its lack of ambition. We also examine the history of the resource super profit tax and why it failed to achieve its potential in the past.Of course, there's political implications and opposition surrounding the super profit tax proposal, and we look at Bill Shorten's stance against considering a super profit tax and the potential media and Coalition backlash – there are merits and drawbacks of such a tax but it could be a game-changer for funding various public projects.

Demographic futurist Bradley Schurman joins us to explore a future where over-65s outnumber under-18s — and the changes society will have to face. What We Discuss with Bradley Schurman: In the not-too-distant future, a staggering shift looms over the developed world: at least 20 percent of national populations will surpass 65 years of age, outnumbering those 18 years of age and younger. Termed the Super Age by Bradley Schurman, this demographic transformation carries immense potential for growth or, conversely, risks leaving many behind. Take Russia, for instance, where this trend unfolds amidst geopolitical turmoil and a high military mortality rate — 25 times that of Chechnya and 35 times Afghanistan's monthly casualties. Failure to prepare for these impending changes would usher economic stagnation, increased isolation for vulnerable communities, and hastened decline of rural areas. Yet, there is reason for optimism. By proactively planning, we can unlock the advantages of the Super Age: prolonged and healthier lives, enhanced intergenerational collaboration in workplaces and households, and unexplored markets and innovations. Introducing Luxflation

Some of the meanest people I know are the wealthiest I know. Strange isn't it, that while many wealthy consumers can easily afford high-fee cosmetic dentistry, luxury cars, first-class travel, designer fashions they find the price tags too big to swallow. A $70,000.00 sticker on a car, a $35,000.00 fee quoted by the dentist, a $12,000.00 airline ticket are all so in-your-face. On the surface, the difference between the $70,000.00 car vs. the $35,000.00 car isn't so great; a car may feel like a car. On the plane, all the seats arrive at the same time.  I am sure you have heard this logic before. Oddly however, these same people are easily wooed by little luxuries.  For what seems like a small uptick (which is a very big increase in profit margin) they can feel special without guilt.  The fact that you can pick up two litres of ice cream at the supermarket for about the same price as a tiny cup of ice cream at a Gelateria is more disconnected. The experience is dramatically different. At the creamery, you pick out your flavour, your ground up cheesecake crust and chocolate chips, and watch your dessert being made for you on a granite slab. The price is still easily found in pocket or purse. It requires no thought, is done on impulse, feels good, and is easily rationalised. If I need had a hard day, I deserve it.  These little indulgences do add up.  Allow me to introduce you to a concept called luxflation. Termed by author Pamela Danziger it is the inching up of price. A form of self-induced inflation, experienced by consumers willing to pay what seems a little more for much better experiences - when, in fact, that little more may be a 500% to 5,000% premium.  It's ironic that the government, economists, and the media sweat bullets and display great angst over inflation creeping up by a half of a percent while consumers cheerfully accept 500% inflation in dozens of purchases every day.  This is important to grasp, as it affects every business.  If you cultivate these opportunities, these little indulgences can really add up for you in your business.  Luxflation is not new.  The story is now a legend of how "burger chains" use the point-of-sale strategy, where the cashier responds, "Do you want fries with that?" ATS (average transaction size) is one of the most important numbers to know, manage, and work at improving in many businesses, whether you sell burgers to frequent customers or motor vehicles to very infrequent repeat customers.  Let's say we own an ice-cream stand where the cashier responds to each order by presenting the offer of a double flavour shot and an extra scoop of fresh fruit. If half say yes to the extra $4, and they serve 200 ice-creams a day, that's $400 added to revenue. But we may have increased the profit margin, invisibly, by much more.  If we can alter the whole experience to support a higher price, still add the extra fruit, and add a big chocolate chip cookie, well, we might take our $9 average transaction to $15. On a grander scale, we may turn our ice-cream stand into a much-talked about, much preferred destination rather than just one of a dozen same-as places in town.  Being in the little indulgence business in a big way, can lead to much bigger profits, but even to something more valuable:  Sustainable unique positioning in your customers' minds and lives.

After 40 Muscle Is a Girl's Best Friend

The Flipping 50 Show

Think after 40 muscle is a thing of the past? Think again!  There was a time when I was a cardio bunny. I dabbled in strength training but spent hours each week, sometimes a day, doing “aerobics.”  We tend to think, because we were told it so often for decades, that aerobic activity is best for fitness. Even though more and more science featuring postmenopausal women shows muscle has the most influence on numerous components of health, we're still drawn to “cardio.”  Are you at a point what you're doing isn't working, yet found yourself reluctant to exchange cardio for strength training? This is for you.  Women Need Muscle-Centric Exercise More Than Men Women begin with less muscle and more fat than men. Fat is essential for reproduction. Once hormones needed for reproduction, but also muscle maintenance, decline during the menopause transition, fat tends to increase and muscle loss is pronounced.  One reason that “cardio” doesn't “burn the fat” or boost metabolism is that with the decline of sex hormones, women are more susceptible to negative effects of stress. (2) Cardio, in the way we've always done it, tends to increase stress. (3) At this same time, women tend to become more insulin resistant. A body under stress stores fat in a form of self-preservation. It can't both burn and store fat. The stress hormone cortisol and insulin team up and tend to increase fat deposits around the belly. At midlife, doing more cardio to lose belly weight may actually cause more belly fat.  Keep Stress Low Short walks, even longer hikes, or short bursts of high intensity can certainly reduce the overall stress impact of exercise. That is, keep the stress positive. That hinges most on whether you enjoy, or find joy in, the activity and monitor your stress from all areas of life, adjusting as needed. However, these cardio activities don't influence fat burning beyond the activity. They don't increase muscle mass. Exercise that increases lean muscle mass, however, will not only improve body composition, but many of the symptoms of menopause, and increases healthy lifespan. This goes far beyond just risk of falls.  After 40 muscle is harder, not impossible to build. After 50 it's harder than that. Start.  You've Been Robbed Muscle loss begins at about 30. Studies vary on rate of loss being approximately 3-8% per decade or up to 1% annually after 30 but agree this rate is even higher both during the menopause transition and increases after 60. In severe instances, there is 50% total muscle loss by 80.   Muscle mass losses alter body composition (less muscle means more fat even if you don't gain fat) and are directly correlated with insulin resistance. Not only is this acutely frustrating for women with stubborn weight or belly fat, but long term can lead to type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease and osteoporosis.  Recent History's Influence on Muscle and Health Though we're past the worst of the pandemic, we're going to see consequences of the pandemic for years. On average 42% of the population gained weight, on average 29 lbs., during the pandemic.  It wasn't muscle. Gyms were closed. Dumbbells weren't available. For women during the menopause transition when muscle and bone loss can accelerate significantly, (8) is greater chance of early disability. Lack of the muscle stimulus from estrogen combined with lack of strength training to offset it, could mean greater levels of sarcopenia and osteoporosis if not mitigated. Basic Muscle Facts  To gain muscle, you need strength, or resistance training. Women need strength training more than cardio. Women need strength training even more than men. Women 50 or older need strength training more than women 30.  Menopause-Related Reasons to Gain Muscle in Midlife Let's be honest, we're more motivated by immediate gratification than long term risk aversion. Muscle provides both. Well-documented menopause symptoms include but are not limited to: Insomnia Depression Anxiety Hot Flashes  Night Sweats  Weight Gain Fat gain Loss of muscle tone Belly Fat Insulin Resistance  Bone loss Muscle, and muscle building activity, or resistance training, has been shown to improve each and every one of these symptoms.  What's more, strength training surpasses cardio training in doing so. Cardio-induced stress is catabolic, meaning muscle breaks down at a faster rate.  There's more to love about muscle. It decreases inflammation. Inflammation that is linked to many diseases, particularly, Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Termed, type 3 diabetes, Alzheimer's is also a function of blood sugar. There's a direct correlation between amount of muscle mass and risk of AD and dementia. At age 65 a woman's risk of Alzheimer's is 1 in 5.  We are going to outlive men. We're going to need our strength to retain independence. Convinced? Here's how to know you're on the right path.  Measure How Much Muscle You Have Body composition can't be tracked by a scale alone. Invest in a Smart Scale, that is one that measures body fat percent at the least. If it gives you muscle mass in pounds or kgs, even better. You however can do the mass if you have weight and percent body fat.  Don't make the mistake of using BMI (Body Mass Index) as a measure of body composition. You don't know if your muscle is going up, down, or staying the same with BMI. When you know, you can modify exercise or lifestyle habits to support your muscle. It's better to know regularly than to find out annually or occasionally from the doctor or a gym. After 40 Muscle Building Tips Begin strength training twice weekly if you're not After a period of adaptation, reach temporary muscle fatigue each set  Begin with one set of weights you can lift 15-20 times  Progress after 1-2 weeks to weights you can only lift 12-15 times  Progress to two sets after 1-2 weeks Alternate this increase or either sets and or decrease repetitions  Maintain a regular 3 or more set strength training habit twice a week Prioritize sleep  Consume high quality protein throughout the day What Matters Most All of the exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle tips matter. But the greatest of these is strength training. That is, if you begin strength training without increasing protein intake or prioritizing sleep, you'll still benefit. Exercise is a catalyst for other health change however, so you may just find you sleep better because of the exercise, and that you're more conscious of your protein intake.  Work up to twice weekly total body sessions strength sessions with at least 3 sets of 8-10 muscle groups as heavy as you safely can. Watch your energy and overall Total Energy Expenditure (TEE) go up because you've increased strength without undue fatigue and soreness. For midlife women, this sweet spot for gaining lean muscle is the key to something that can be maintained for life, and that upgrades life. Long-term Wins with After 40 Muscle  When women strength train, their future changes for the better. Following exercise programs focused on resistance training rather than weight or fat loss, weight and body composition of postmenopausal women were maintained over a six-year period. By comparison, subjects with low levels of participation, or cardio-only programs, experience significant increases in weight, fat, and belly fat.   A midlife client once said to me, “I don't care what the question is, the answer is exercise.”  I couldn't agree more, but to be most accurate, for women over 50, its exercise with strength training as its foundation. Cowboy Junkies: Music Is The Drug - The Podcast

In this special episode we concentrate on "Townies: An Audioplay", the album put together by Michael Timmins and Andy Maize of Skydiggers in 2020 and we are joined by both of them to chart the writing and recording of a project that was initially interrupted, and then informed, by the first Covid lockdown that year. It also owes plenty to Mike's "Improvisations From The Between Time" album, which we also cover in the podcast. Set in motion by a conversation between the two, "Townies" was originally destined to be based around childhood memories. Lockdown halted the project and then,  on their return to the studio, the music developed a second act, focusing on a tumultuous year and all that that means. It's a fascinating journey and both Mike and Andy help guide you through it in this podcast.Termed an "audioplay", "Townies" is currently only available for download or streaming, as is "Improvisations From The Between Time" - if you haven't heard them yet, tune in, turn on and drop out...To make sure you don't miss out on each weekly episode, remember to subscribe to "Music Is The Drug" at your favourite podcast provider - Apple, Amazon, Audible, Google, Spotify, Deezer, Stitcher, TuneIn, Podchaser and all the rest..."Cowboy Junkies - Music Is The Drug" is hosted by Dave Bowler, author of the authorised biography of the band. One characteristic of ageing is decreased secretion of the adrenal androgens, DHEA and DHEAS.

As India grapples with the possibility of a new wave due to the Omicron variant, the Centre on Saturday, 25 December, announced an expansion of the national vaccination drive. Though the decision to expand vaccination coverage has been widely welcomed, four critical questions regarding them have emerged: First, why call it a precautionary dose and not a booster dose? Does this signal that the third shot will be Covishield or Covaxin? This leads us to the second question, how effective is a third dose of the same vaccine? Third, given that Covaxin is the only vaccine in production to be cleared for inoculating those under 18, is it worrying that there is no publicly available data of the trials? And lastly, will the restriction on additional doses for those over the age of 60 cause problems? Guests: Dr Chandrakand Lahairya, an epidemiologist and health systems expert. Friday, 27 November 2020, 12 – 1pm A public lecture by Dr Rahul Mishra (University of Malaya) organised by the Trinity Centre for Asian Studies and hosted by Trinity Long Room Hub. After decades of oppressive rule by the military junta, Myanmar (Burma) made a transition to democracy in 2015. The international community and the people of Myanmar had pinned their hopes on Aung San Suu Kyi, a noble laureate and the icon of decades-old democratic struggle in Myanmar, as the leader of a ‘New Myanmar'. With the landslide election victory of Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy (NLD), it was expected that she would bring nationwide peace, harmony, and economic development. However, the systemic and decades-old persecution of ethnic minorities in a Bamar-dominated Myanmar continued unabated. Termed the “world's most persecuted minority”, Rohingya are considered illegal inhabitants in their own country by the Myanmar government, as they have been denied citizenship under the 1982 Citizenship Law. Lack of access to basic human facilities, civil and political rights, and endless persecution at the hands of the Tatmadaw (Myanmar armed forces) and the government have led to waves of exodus of the Rohingya to Bangladesh and neighbouring Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia. It is the largest human exodus in Asia since the Vietnam War. The United Nations and the International Court of Justice have termed their persecution possible “crimes against humanity”. This talk highlights various aspects of the state-supported persecution of the Rohingya and other ethnic minorities in Myanmar and suggests ways in which the international community could intervene to stop the ongoing violation of human rights. Rahul Mishra is a Senior Lecturer at the Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. Prior to this, he was a Consultant with the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Dr Mishra specialises on politico-security affairs of the Southeast Asian region, and major power politics in Asia. His latest publications include India's Eastward Engagement from Antiquity to Act East Policy (Co-authored with Prof. S.D. He was getting a lot of questions about influencers and influencer marketing, but that marketers were getting misled with what both were. Every business has influencers they can engage with. And these are their customers and employees. It seems to Neal crazy not to engage with your advocates in a B2B space as they are your salespeople on LinkedIn by offering influence. Termed employee advocacy or employee influencers, salespeople are connecting with their prospects all day long. So tapping into these connections is highly important. Looking at an employee as an advocate can often lead to questions of why aren't they sharing my content. If you look at employees as influencers you actually ask them how can we help you with our resources. Then the influencers become amplifiers of your content and involved in the content. For example, asking them to get your podcast guests. Developing the relationship will have much more impact on your marketing long-term. It's treating them as influencers - appealing to their ego. Description: DA Anne Marie Schubert leads a discussion on how using genetic genealogy in criminal cases has revolutionized fighting violent crime.  Topics include background on the first case to use this tool (Golden State Killer/East Area Rapist) to the general process, other successful cases across the nation, training other jurisdictions and implementing a best practices model.   Show Notes: District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert gives background and her personal and professional history with the first case to use genetic genealogy in a criminal investigation – the Golden State Killer/East Area Rapist/Original Night Stalker.    Termed by law enforcement as “Investigative Genetic Genealogy” (IGG), Lieutenant Kirk Campbell and Analyst Monica Czajkowski join the discussion to share what they initially thought about the idea of using genetic genealogy in a criminal investigation.  They then explain the general process of how to do IGG (from DNA evidence to tree building), how the core team (Team Justice) worked together and the learning curve involved.  Once a suspect is identified Kirk explains how traditional police work takes back over at that point to make sure they have the right suspect.   They talk about how since the Golden State Killer case, a number of jurisdictions across the nation have also successfully used IGG, proving IGG is a viable investigative tool.  Anne Marie talks about the importance of standards and a best practices model for jurisdictions using IGG.    Kirk and Monica explain the trainings they are conducting for law enforcement across the nation on how to do IGG as well as applying standards and best practices.   They describe the reaction and response from the agencies on this new tool, which in Anne Marie’s words gives them hope and provides relief to victims.   In addition to trainings, Kirk and Monica assist the FBI with other cases.    The conversation closes with the three reflecting on how they feel to have been part of a ground-breaking case and to be pioneers in investigative genetic genealogy.   Follow us @SacCountyDA on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+ and find us on YouTube.

Now they are going life size. You can find more information at Driven Media or previous programs are available as podcasts on iTunes or Spotify. OR our Facebook site OverdriveCity So, let’s start with the news Tesla Cuts the price of Model 3 but increases Australian Charging Prices When Tesla first launched the Model S Elon Musk said that, over time, he hoped to get the price down to US$35,000. Now he has finally delivered on his promise of an electric vehicle for the masses, confirming the reduced pricing. Specs for the Standard Range start at US$35,000 (or around A$49,000) before US Government incentives. The Standard Model 3 offers a range of 355km, a top speed of 210km/h and a 0-60mph (97km/h) time of 5.6 seconds, while, for an additional $2,000, the Standard Range Plus has a 386km range, will hit 60mph in 5.3 seconds and tops out at 225km/h. Holden Hopes to rebound after several bad sales years HOLDEN has forecast at least 9% growth in its combined SUV and ute sales this year, forecasting that 70% of its overall sales volume will come from these two major categories. Holden is attempting to turn around its fortunes after its sales slumped 33 per cent last year in the wake of its exit from local car manufacturing in October 2017. Volkswagen’s Jetta becomes a brand – but only in China The Jetta name has made the leap from a Volkswagen model - to the Volkswagen Group’s latest all-new brand. The long-running nameplate has been established as a brand in its One of the reasons for the Jetta brand’s birth is that it allows the Volkswagen brand itself to position itself as the more premium class that it holds in Europe. BMW fined for swapping ECUs Prosecutors in Germany have hit BMW with an €8.5 million fine for fitting almost 8000 cars with the wrong engine management software. The fine relates to an admission by BMW that it had inadvertently fitted a diesel-engine software upgrade for the X5 and X6 into 5 Series and 7 Series electronic control units or ECUs. Prosecutors accepted that BMW had done nothing intentional, but was guilty of “oversight lapses”. Maserati Cuts Prices A DEPRESSED new-vehicle market outlook, and dealer and customer feedback on pricing, is behind Maserati Australia cutting the prices of its models by up to $46,000, - following similar changing price points for some BMW and Mercedes-Benz models. Termed “realignment” by Maserati Australia, the new price scale is aimed at maintaining sales and market share in a very competitive high end market. BMW last year reduced 7 Series pricing by up to almost $50,000, which put the model under the $200,000 mark for its entry-level models. Similarly, in August last year Mercedes-Benz reduced its S Class pricing by up to $44,000.

Jack DeWaard presents his paper 'Migrants' expected time of residence in receiving countries: a systems approach' co-authored by Guy Abel in Parallel session III(D) of the conference Examining Migration Dynamics: Networks and Beyond This paper bridges recent developments in migration systems theory with empirical work on international migration systems to examine the latter in a theoretically informed way. Unlike in previous research, our efforts go beyond merely examining exchanges in the form of migration flows, and further consider the dynamics which govern these exchanges. We synthesize these two components in a fairly new measure of international migration. Termed migrants' expected time of residence, we estimate this quantity each receiving country in the EU-15 every five years from 1960-1965 to 2005-2010 and disaggregate our results by sending region, subregion, and country. In the process, our work helps to clarify three persistent problems in the empirical research on international migration systems, and, more generally, provides a blueprint for moving forward in this area in a way that is consistent with recent theoretical concerns and developments.

The 'golden age' of Japanese screen painting occurred in the 1600s in Kyoto, when these brilliantly realised screens were painted by Kano Eino, third generation head of the Kyoto Kano school. The style had emerged in the confidently flamboyant Momoyama period (1568-1615) as the brash and newly emergent samurai elite sought an ostentatious display of their own power and wealth. It was their patronage that created for the first time lavish screens of gold background decorated with symbols of power such as bamboo and cypress. The new style, expressed most beautifully by artists of the Kano school in the late 1500s and 1600s, was an intuitive distillation of the dialectic that has driven Japanese culture: its accepting/rejecting relationship with China. The dialectic (which the Japanese call 'wakan', 'China/Japan') was based on a series of opposites: monochrome/colour, emotion/restraint, abstraction/nationalism. The dialectic is epitomised in these screens: the bold, vigorous and rich brushstrokes of Chinese painting displayed in the rhythmic sweep of the lichen-covered cypress trunks and the sharp lines of the rock faces, combined with the clear, bright colours and attentive recording of nature that is the native inheritance of the Japanese artist. The delicate, elegant handling of the dandelions and lilies on the top screen exemplifies the native Japanese sensitivity to nature. The screens also realise this dialectic symbolically: the cypress was a favoured symbol of the samurai to express their dominance and power, while the pierced rock formation on the bottom screen is a classic Chinese Daoist interpretation of the 'yin' and 'yang', void and form. The pampas grass with its trimming of autumnal frost (in reality a movingly beautiful sight) is a favourite Japanese subject for painters and poets. The combination of the pine, bamboo and plum blossom on the extreme left originated in 13th century China and became one of the most popular depictions of Chinese art. Termed the 'Three Friends of the Cold Season', the trio is laden with symbolism: the pine exemplifies steadfastness and courage, the bamboo uprightness and the plum blossom, purity. The pheasant, often synonymous with the phoenix, is a Chinese emblem of beauty and good fortune, while in Japan the pheasant was the prey in the samurai's beloved sport of falconry. The strong interest in plants such as camellias that arose in the mid 1600s is also reflected in this work. The Asian Collections, AGNSW, 2003, pg.218.
