Nebraska football got the elusive sixth win so now what? The Husker247 Pod believes the Huskers, like the other 70-some teams who have six wins, should move forward and look to add to its success. Mike Schaefer and Brian Christopherson talk through Nebraska's win against Wisconsin, how the Huskers pulled it off, why the offensive performance wasn't that surprising and which players stood out in the win. The show finishes up with a conversation about Malachi Coleman and then a larger conversation about all the player movement to come and that we're a week from Early Signing Day. This week on the show, the Panel discusses the wide receiver room. Jaylen Lloyd. Malachi Coleman. Alex Bullock. Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda. Jahmal Banks. While there's a fair amount of depth behind this quintet, there's not a lot of experience. So who steps up? Who is ready to go? Nebraska returns over 75% of production from last year. How does that fit in with Matt Rhule's philosophy? Two Big Ten schools had their spring games this past weekend. What took place in Columbus and West Lafayette? How many people attended? Does spring game attendance matter? And finally, RedditCFB came across the “leaked” super league proposed for college football? What does that look like and is it likely to take place?

247Sports director of scouting, Andrew Ivins, joins Mike Schaefer to discuss Dylan Raiola and Nebraska's class on the latest episode of the Husker247 Podcast. Ivins has watched Raiola multiple times, including games and camp settings, and had a number of thoughts on what the Huskers might be getting should a commitment come this weekend when he visits Lincoln. The two also discuss what it could look like if Raiola pushes his way onto the field for Matt Rhule and the Huskers in 2024 and how his overall game could fit with the pieces the Huskers already have like Malachi Coleman and Jaylen Lloyd. Then conversation shifts over to thoughts Ivins has on other players in the class like wide receiver commit Jacory Barney, edge commit Willis McGahee IV and Nebraska target and Signing Day decision maker Amare Sanders, a developmental cornerback out of the Sunshine State. Inside Nebraska publisher Zack Carpenter and senior staff writer Greg Smith give their rapid-fire breakdown of Tuesday's press conference with Nebraska coordinators and players. Tony White and the Blackshirts are looking to fix "bullcrap" mistakes that proved costly in the Huskers' loss to Michigan State and that could crush them again versus Maryland. The guys also break down the recent rising stock of freshman WR Malachi Coleman and what it could mean for this year's offense.
-Nebraska is without 3 starting offensive linemen for the Purdue game…what kind of gameplan do you expect to see from the Huskers knowing that?-Malachi Coleman showed off his speed and grabbed a 44-yard TD against Northwestern…can he get defenses to respect the deep ball consistently?-Is Nebraska's defense the best in the B1G West or Iowa/Minnesota?Show sponsored by GANA TRUCKINGAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
The Husker Football team is 4-3, having for the second time this season won back-to-back games after Saturday's 17-9 Homecoming win over Northwestern. I think Nebraska has defeated all the important teams in Illinois this season, going 3-0 against the state. As a resident of Illinois, I couldn't be happier. As for the game against the Wildcats, the offense picked up where they left off against Illinois, going five straight possessions over the two games that ended with turnovers. But that defense...I don't know if they're officially being called the Blackshirts yet, but they are definitely playing at a high level, being the key component for the Huskers' success this season. While the offense stumbled out of the gate, they eventually found some footing, as Emmett Johnson led the team in rushing and Malachi Coleman caught his first touchdown pass of his career. Can the offense build on this and sustain this momentum with Heinrich Haarberg at the helm? Hoss seems to think that at some point, the keys to the castle will be returned to Jeff Sims. And Greg has an interesting question. Who was the last Husker RB to rush for more than 200 yards in a game. Hoss believes it was Tre Bryant in the 2017 season opener against Arkansas State, but post-production research informed us that Bryant ran for 192 yards in the game. So do we have to go all the way back to 2014 and Ameer Abdullah? Because that's a really freakin' long time ago. Regardless...just two more wins til Nebraska is bowling. And we're grateful for that.
Nebraska emerged victorious on Saturday against Northwestern when the Huskers were able to once again control an opponent through its defense. KLIN Husker Hour host Matt McMaster joined Mike Schaefer for the Sunday Side Session to discuss the Huskers win over the Wildcats, where things sit for the program and what's coming up with five games remaining and bowl eligibility a possibility. Things start on defense where Schaefer makes McMaster pick between the Illinois and Northwestern performances, asks him who the third best player on the defense is and why the Huskers are so capable of getting performances like James Williams' on Saturday, where a player steps off the bench and thrives despite having little opportunity before. After a quick timeout the conversation resumes but this time on offense with a discussion about the importance of hitting the Malachi Coleman touchdown pass, why Nebraska's offense continues to struggle regardless of opponent strength and what can and can't be done to help things moving forward. Additionally McMaster gives thoughts on why Emmett Johnson should continue to get the bulk of opportunities at running back after a good performance against Northwestern. Finally predictions are made for the Purdue game next weekend. Can the Huskers keep Opportunity October going strong? Nebraska Football is finally here. On the heels of Volleyball Day in Nebraska, Jon, Jarek, and Greg bring you the last show before the season. Think about this...we've spent the entire off-season building to this point. The last time we did a show this close to a Nebraska football game, we were celebrating the 24-17 win over Iowa. Since then, the team has seen the interim head coach be arrested, the new head coach announced and with that announcement, subsequent assistant coach hires. The transfer portal, the signing of one of the most electrifying talents in the state in Malachi Coleman, spring football, attrition, and more. It has truly brought us all to this. It's the day before Nebraska's first game. It's the galvanizing moment each year when hope springs eternal and some say “I'm not ready to love again.” But all of the talking is done as Nebraska and Minnesota will battle tomorrow night for the vaunted $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy, an icon of what makes college football truly great. It's the Five Heart Podcast. It's live. It's beautiful. Locked On Canes - Daily Podcast On Miami Hurricanes Football & Basketball
Mario Cristobal's decision to stick with Tyler Van Dyke as the Miami Hurricanes' starting quarterback is a sensible, mature choice. Miami's coaches are trying to create a culture that stresses having players backs and not making emotional decisions. IF Van Dyke continues to struggle, Miami still has the option of turning to Jake Garcia in the future, but once you make that switch there's no turning back. Host Alex Donno breaks down the decision to start Van Dyke and the risks that come with it. When Cristobal addressed the media on Monday, it sounded like he was admitting that the coaches have let Van Dyke down when it comes to putting him in positions to transition smoothly into a new offense. Can offensive coordinator Josh Gattis do a better job from a play-calling standpoint?Donno breaks down the Canes injury situation. It sounds like TE Elijah Arroyo is unlikely to play against North Carolina, while the injury statuses of running backs Henry Parrish and Jaylan Knighton are still up in the air. Left tackle Zion Nelson could be a game time decision. He suffered a setback before the Middle Tennessee game. Plus, Donno explains why the Hurricanes rescheduled an official visit for 4-star WR prospect Malachi Coleman.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
