At some point I said I would be getting podcasts out on Mondays, but last week's came out on a Tuesday.
Rob Catalano, Chief Engagement Officer at WorkTango, shares insights on how leaders can enhance employee engagement through simple, regular micro-doses of recognition and feedback. He discusses his career transition from what he thought was his dream job (customer experience marketing) and how that translated into his actual dream job (engaging employee experiences). Why is it that so many employees at recognizable brands are miserable? He recognized the need for leaders to create environments where employees can be raving fans just as we seek our customers to be raving fans. Rob offers practical tips for how to recognize employee contributions and deliver constructive feedback in a way that unleashes talent and uplifts workplace culture for overall organizational success. The discussion also highlights generational differences in feedback expectations, particularly with Gen Z employees. Catalano advocates for a culture of curiosity over blame, encouraging leaders to engage in meaningful conversations that foster growth and development. Recognition is best when it is SMT - Specific, Meaningful, and Timely. Feedback doesn't have to take a lot of time, but you must make some time for it. Feedback is better in smaller, more frequent micro-doses. Focus recognition more on employee's contributions and competencies and less on longevity.

Think of it as a therapy session, but with more laughs and less co-pays.” Emily Catalano is a Los Angeles-based comedian who made her late night stand-up debut on CONAN and has since garnered attention with her viral stand-up clips circulating on social media. Known for her quick wit and dry humor, Emily's talent for crafting jokes out of everyday situations has garnered attention from Time Out LA, who named her a "Comic to Watch." Her deadpan delivery adds an extra layer of hilarity to her comedy, making her a standout in the comedy scene.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/daily-comedy-news--4522158/support.

The slow burn, ultra clever joke tellers of the 2020s are a rare breed, but they are a delight whenever they magically appear. Such is the case with Emily Catalano who came up in SF/Bay Area and has since transplanted successfully down in LA (don't worry, she goes back to the Bay quite a bit as well as touring all over the country) serving up her finely honed and sharpened, wry and oh-so-wondrous bits. We catch up with Emily as she is about to release her delightful debut album HEY. this Friday and what the journey to that has been, especially as she was set to do this in 2020. Follow Emily @catalano_emily on IG and get her album HEY. this Friday fresh from Blonde Medicine. Cooking has always been at the center of Hailee Catalano's world. She grew up watching The Food Network, inspired by cooks like Rachael Ray and watching the adults cook in her Sicilian-German home. Some of our guests have winding paths into the food world but Hailee was on a mission from day one. After attending the Culinary Institute of America, she started her career in restaurant kitchens. When her plan to break into the New York restaurant scene was upended by COVID, Hailee started thinking outside of the box. She got a job as an Instacart shopper for a test kitchen and started making cooking videos as a creative outlet. Today, she's garnered a devoted following across social channels, and she's not stopping anytime soon.Hailee joins host Abena Anim-Somuah to chat about finding her voice and balancing her life as a content creator. They talk about how her videos have evolved, from the “hands-and-pans” style to the more personal content her audience connects with today: calm, straightforward walk-throughs of comforting recipes, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Listen to Hailee's top pieces of advice for homecooks, her stance on dill, and what it's like sharing a kitchen with Chuck Cruz, her partner and a fellow content creator. Don't miss Hailee's voicemail to her future self!Thank you to Kerrygold, Hampton Grocer, and Dona for supporting today's show.
