Marlon Woods - psychologist, DEI professional, and an international master trainer and ambassador for Les Mills International. In Marlon's background as a personal trainer, Marlon was training women who were transitioning into the perimenopause stage of life. Without knowing anything about the end of the reproductive cycle for women and how this impacted on their physical and mental health, Marlon dived into personal research, which he says “wasn't easy!” to figure out how best he could help his clients. As a former personal trainer, this episode really struck a chord with me. I fequently teared up during the interview (check out the YOUTUBE version) thinking back to my years as a PT and how I was training midlife women and how they weren't able to shift the extra 5-10kg that just showed up overnight. They were the hardest working clients in the room, never missed a session, ate everything I told them to eat. They were fit and strong and yet the weight hung around and they were taking longer to recover from the training sessions - I knew nothing. And for that I can't applaud Marlon enough for his foresight and tenacity to self study and help his midlife female clients. The world needs more Marlons! Marlon Lewellyn moved from Kingston, Jamaica to Miami Florida and the first thing his mom did was put him in a good school. It didn't take long to realize the value of education. As a principal, administrator and recruiter Marlons mission as an educator entrepreneur is to lead from the heart, and treat people right along the way. If you can change someone's perspective you can change their life. It's servant leadership with a grind. 1:00 - what it's like to study abroad 5:15 - Recruiting black educators 9:00 - Teacher shortage is a systematic problem 13:45 - should staff reflect student demographics 19:00 - servant leadership with a grind

What is holistic health? This is what google says... A Holistic Health Coach is a trained professional who uses an integrative approach to both diet and lifestyle changes to improve their clients' health. Working as a guide toward an overall healthier life, they will look at their clients' nutrition patterns, relationships, physical fitness, spirituality, and more. This is exactly what Marlon Azurdia is and he is very passionate about it. So much so he lives and breathes the full circle of a holistic approach in his life and his family. I had the pleasure of having the walk through of his sanctuary that him and his wife has built. It had a very calming affect on me. This podcast is a two part series on Marlon. The first half is about his career as a holistic coach and the second half is about his career as an elite athlete. In the first half we covered topics as a holistic health coach. 1. Ego 2. Limited believes 3. The importance to the circadian rhythm of our bodies. 4. Mindful thinking 5. And DIET So much value to all these spectrums. Part #2 Marlons story.... He is Guatemalan. From Central America. Crossfit change things up a bit. We are now allowed to represent our home country even if you don’t live there. As long as you have dual citizenship you got yourself a hall pass! So that is exactly what he did... His score is ranked top of Guatemala and is now waiting. At the moment he hasn’t received the official results but we are certain he is going. He sent in his videos the headquarters said is a good thing if you don’t hear back. Crossfit will announce the official champions of every country this week coming up! Very exciting! What sacrifice means to Marlon as he’s been an athlete all his life and right now has the opportunity to represent what he truly stands for. This responsibility takes great sacrifice and being a family man it takes his team (family) to create as much of a balance as they can. Balance in the way that assures nutrition, mindset and recovery is mostly on point. Marlon’s wife has gone through her own challenges and he shares. Being a cancer survivor they take the more holistic approach. This helps enables Marlons passion for holistic health and wellness. This approach has benefitted their health and careers. Disapline is something Marlon is very familiar with. In order to stay disciplined him and his wife have created a lifestyle that supports less than no distractions. They have a beautiful acreage with everything they need on it. It’s full of serenity and peace and it’s exactly the way they like it! This all counts for the everything in between that he has control over. Instead of listening to music all the time he will typically put on an e-book or podcasts on things that he is passionate about and has something to learn from. “I am always a student in this process.” ~ Marlon There is so much truth to this and everyone should resonate with that. When it comes to training this can vary. This will depend on what time of the year it is. Typically in between important times a year such as the Crossfit open to regionals and then in his case the games. When gearing up for these type of events training has different segments in the day because there is so much to cover. Sessions can start in the morning and then again in the afternoon or in the evening. But as we can both agree on that the recovery is by far the most important part of this piece along with high quality nutrition. In saying this he is also a huge advocate to intermittent fasting. He uses this method in conjunction for fuelling his body for performance. And clearly it’s working! Again I am so excited to share another valuable episode and want to thank Marlon for his expertise and time. Check him out on his IG page: @mapstrength And his website https://www.marlonazurdiaprogram.com/ Thank you everyone. With much love ❤️ BOXTALK~ Tiffany Garrigus
