Social movement concerned with discrimination against men

Dovetailing off recent episodes of this podcast - Episode #116 'Why Men Hate Going to Church' and Episode #130 'Reverse Sexism in American Churches' - I want to talk about the Men's Rights Movement. Micah Hershberger sent me two videos this week to mull over. Watch for our forthcoming episode of On The Rocks podcast in which we discuss those further. But for this episode, I want to take some time to process and unpack Cassie Jaye's documentary The Red Pill, and also this YouTube summary of what is being called MGTOW - the acronym for "Men Going Their Own Way." What should we make of these responses to feminism in our day? And do they perhaps in part explain why fewer young people today are getting married and settling down to raise a family than in previous generations? Let us bravely embrace the risk of offending everyone except the Almighty by delving into these matters so we can discern what is good and true, and how men and women can and should live in peace and harmony with one another according to God's Word. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/support

I do not use the word pathetic lightly, and that is why I am applying it to the subject of the so-called men's rights movement. Oh, and just to clarify, when I say "so-called" I mean "bullshit". Never in my thirty five years on this planet have I seen such a huge collection of bumbling idiots take pride in such an incredibly stupid notion, that being that women somehow control men. Of course this is a conspiracy theory with no real evidence, but I have already establish that statistics mean nothing to conspiracy theorists. So, instead of trying to convince an idiot that they are incorrect, let us decipher how they play their deceptive games so we can avoid their lunacy, and deflate their inflammatory nature. Their rhetoric is blunt, brute and simple, much like that of a white nationalist, who they openly admitted to working for by the way. That is not speculation. That was admitted to by members of the organization in confidential interview with Open Democracy. And, of course, I suppose I am to believe that this was somehow organized by the left to dupe me into getting a vaccine, or a computer chip, or whatever... Yet, somehow, according to MRAs, that's men's rights activists, these people who are taking us over are all "feminazis", a term invented somewhere between Bill Burr and Tucker Carlson. Who knows the actual origin? I have no clue. I am sure that some half-wit like Jordan Petersen coined the term in some dry book. I only know the term for what it is, a direct jab at the women's rights movement that has brought women closer to equality. This equality reviles MRAs; they see it as if, now that women are equal to men, men now have nothing, and therefore are unequal to women. It is an extremely selfish and childish way of dealing with your problems, to simply project hatred of the people who have wronged you, the corporations, onto another group who had no direct intention of harming you. There is no collective feminist coup. This rumor has been passed around the republican party for years, and it is getting old at this point. The fact of the matter is that you have to work a lot in life, and it is just too much for most people. Most people cannot sustain that. But we should not wear that as a badge of honor; we should relax the pressures of economic hardship so that we can all share in prosperity in the way in which we choose. However, we should do so in a way that uplifts us all, not that further divides us. Shall we let the doctrine of soapbox evangelicals and autocratic propagandists become our guiding light? I think an emphatic absolutely not is in order. We will not play the game of those who seek to destroy us. This inflammatory rhetoric is effective. It causes a passion in the mind of a conspiracy theorist or a fatalist that action is required or else the world will be doomed to torture in eternal fire. If you have never felt the entitlement and sense of urgency that comes along with being a member of the right wing then you will never understand their politics. Perhaps obtaining christian dominance upon the earth seems a bit extreme to the average believer...at first. However, through a steady pattern of propaganda, it is possible to erode the moral fabric of a nation in such a way that said nation launches a war upon itself. In order to combat this propaganda, we must continue to report the horrors of the world to those who would deny them. We must work together to squash the popular treasonous attitude of the right in this nation. You must understand that the only thing the conservatives understand is imminent danger. Thus, anything that becomes their enemy, in this case women, is targeted for destruction. The surge in violent crimes and sexual abuse that you are seeing is not just a bunch of women complaining about men having fun. It has been directly influenced and orchestrated by the right wing groups to tear apart our liberal institutions, and our democracy. Bippidty boppidy boo... Ash and Matt roll the sleeves up to talk about Mens Rights. Following a short documentary on BBC, it inspired the two to look at the two different angles of the Men's Rights Movement - what it means and what do they stand for? Is it just a group dead set on destroying feminism or do they have a legit point? What do you think? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The Men's Rights Movement - an angry association of men (and some women) who feel society is conspiring to rob men of their rights - and give them to women. Where do they get their ideas? International Men's Day happened recently, and the mockery the hashtag got on Twitter from first women, then some men, underscored how little is understood or respected about the issues Men face, because 'patriarchy'. This isn't about the Men's Rights Movement, who are primarily a bunch of anti-women whackos, this is about things like men over 50 having the highest suicide rate in North America - why?? We offer some answers, including how men make their job not what they do but who they are; why men don't seek out care for mental health issues - or admit they have them. In this full episode of "Exploring Minds", Michele Carroll and Cassie Jaye explore Cassie's experience with directing "The Red Pill", as well as her take on the current dynamic of gender politics, as well as her future plans. #cassiejaye #genderequality #exploringminds - Cassie Jaye is a filmmaker based in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Founder of Jaye Bird Productions. She has directed and produced over a dozen films and commercials, but she is probably most known for her documentary 'The Red Pill' and her TEDx talk about making the film. 'The Red Pill' chronicles her journey as a feminist learning about the Men's Rights Movement. The film was released worldwide in March 2017 and has garnered multiple awards including the Women in Film Award at Hollywood DigiFest. Despite much praise and recognition for shedding light on an aspect of Gender Equality rarely discussed, the film was also the target of many petitions, protests, and censorship by theaters who caved to pressure to pull the film from their screens. Two years after the film's release, Cassie candidly opens up to Michele about her life since 'The Red Pill'. - SUPPORT US ON PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/exploringmindsshow FOLLOW ALONG FOR UPDATES AND NEW EPISODES: Discord - https://discord.gg/YhaAcN3 Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/exploringmindsshow Twitter - https://twitter.com/ExploreMinds_TV Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/exploreminds_tv/ Website - exploringminds.show — Exploring Minds with Michele Carroll is the online show committed to exploring the world beyond talking points. This is an audio version of My 'Red Pill' Suicide Mission with director Cassie Jaye which was published on the Rebel Wisdom YouTube site on September 12th 2018. If the cultural conversation looks increasingly like a dysfunctional relationship between men and women, how can we move forward? This is the second in a series of three films on 'Men and Women after #metoo' from Rebel Wisdom. The Red Pill Movie was a sleeper documentary hit about the Men's Rights Movement in the USA. Despite some very negative reviews from mainstream publications, it became one of the most popular documentaries of the last few years. It was subtitled, 'A feminist goes inside the Men's Rights Movement', and the director Cassie Jaye describes herself as a liberal. What does the reaction to it say about the cultural conversation, and how authentic was the film? Rebel Wisdom talks to Cassie Jaye. Part 1 of 'Men and Women after #metoo' is our podcast where we discuss the issues raised by these films in depth: https://youtu.be/1MdjtBp_BS8 Part 3 is an exclusive interview with the former feminist leader and 'father of the Men's Rights movement', Warren Farrell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESiyb... Simone and Malcolm Collins are co-authors of the book The Pragmatist's Guide To Life: A Guide to Creating Your Own Answers to Life's Biggest Questions. Their book is a ruthlessly pragmatic guide to creating your own answers to life's biggest questions. Each of this book's four chapters covers one of the most important questions a person must ask themselves: Rather than give you answers to these questions, this guide provides a framework that helps you develop your own answers while equipping you with the neuroscientific tools necessary to transform yourself into whomever you choose to be. What is the purpose of my life? How can I best realize the purpose of my life? Who do I want to be? How do I want other people to think of me? The book was created as the work of a nonprofit institution (http://pragmatist.guide/), dedicated to helping people think through the big questions in life without leading them to a specific answer. All proceeds from the sale of the book go to the nonprofit, and not the authors Originally a neuroscientist focused on brain-computer interface and the evolution of human cognition (his work is on display at the Smithsonian), Malcolm Collins felt he could learn more about the way humans interact with the world and each other by pursuing an MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. There he met Simone, his wife and co-author, who at the time was Director of Marketing at HubPages.com, managing a team of 20,000 freelancers. Together they co-founded the art commission marketplace ArtCorgi.com, after which Malcolm became Director of Strategy at South Korea's most desired source of early-stage VC capital and Simone earned her graduate degree from Cambridge while working in VC. The couple now runs a number of travel companies (with a focus on Travelmax), splitting their time between North American headquarters in Miami, FL and South American offices in Lima, Peru. We are two shows into the run of our new podcast series ROCK SHOW and I feel like we've found ourselves. I'd say "finally", but that implies that it was a long, long search. As you make your way through this new episode, you're going to hear something signature. You are going to hear a stream of consciousness coming through the speakers salted and peppered with some hard rocking tunes from the likes of BOBAFLEX, ZEROKING, MILITIA VOX, EDGE OF PARADISE and others. In the same way that ROCKWIRED MAGAZINE is taking on more challenging story ideas outside of music, our new podcast is going to be a reflection of the times that we're living in and and provide a humorous look at what is going on in the world and withing the walls of ROCKWIRED MEDIA. In this episode alone we discuss the stories that we're working on for the upcoming October issue which include a 40th anniversary retrospective of the documentary classic PUMPING IRON, which made ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER an icon, re-defined masculinity and made the sport of Bodybuilding not seem so fringe-y. We will also be discussing a story that we're working on for the upcoming issue on the MEN'S RIGHTS MOVEMENT and the women who have taken center stage. In this show you will hear interview excerpts with the movements two leading women KAREN STRAUGHAN and JANICE FIAMENGO. Outside of the goings on with ROCKWIRED MAGAZINE, the show will touch on what has been happening in the news lately, particularly with BURNING MAN and the story of JOEL OSTEEN closing the doors of his megachurch to people suffering from the flooding in Houston. Documentary filmmaker Cassie Jaye began her project on the men's rights movement as an unsympathetic, almost uncomprehending observer. After letting representatives of that movement tell their story, she had the honesty to admit there was merit in their position.
