Oh my God this man is my hero. I'm still stunned by his extraordinary depth, insights, wisdom, generosity and tearful smiling love for his wife. What a privilege and blessing to dive deep into what it truly takes to go beyond defensiveness and create conversations that deepen love when consistent criticism can often lead to divorce. And this still pinching myself conversation, which I would be happy to have for an entire weekend long, we also discussed... -The healing power of 'sharing and caring' sessions to shift people from surviving to thriving and support them in creating a 'conflict free zone' relationship -How when you know you're going to have a 'sharing and caring' conversation, how anger, violence, yelling and sarcasm diminish because you know you're going to be heard -How it's biologically unnatural to receive criticism without defensiveness yet openness and connection can be learned and more importantly practiced to turn almost any relationship around -How underneath anger is vulnerability and how overtime through practice responding with compassion and focusing on appreciation, you can learn to hear behind the cranky words to the heart's unmet needs behind it -I shared how I still haven't been able to get through listening to the Boy Crisis Book because it triggers so much about my own personal situation. Warren invited a follow-up call about this with me, I was floored, humbly grateful, prayers answered in such an unexpected way -He supported my own coaching practice by teaching me that young adults on antidepressants have often not been taught boundaries, limits or delayed gratification. The mothers on antidepressants often feel like a failure when the children don't respect them -We teased about instead of creating work-life balance, he and his wife Liz create work-work balance! One of his latest sharing and caring sessions with her was about taking 3 months off a year! -And as the Divine would have it, we were able to invite her on the After the Show segment on Patreon... there wasn't a dry eye in the house. It has been six years since Warren Farrell and John Gray published their groundbreaking book, “The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It.”A prominent feminist for many years, Farrell shifted his focus when he started noticing major gaps in the conversation about men and women's issues. He's written multiple books, including “The Myth of Male Power” and “Why Men Earn More.”In “The Boy Crisis,” the authors detailed how boys have been falling behind in many key metrics of success and happiness. Boys dropped out from school at higher rates, died from suicide and drug overdoses at higher rates, and committed school shootings at higher rates than girls. In this interview, I wanted to get an update from Farrell on where things have progressed since they wrote their book.We also dive into some key wisdom for strengthening relationships and communication from his latest book “Role Mate to Soul Mate,” in which he compiles his findings from decades of counseling couples.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

Best-selling author Dr. Warren Farrell joins Tim to talk about America's boy crisis. Warren has written books that have sold around the world, and was named by the Financial Times as one of the world's 100 top thought leaders. In this episode he talks about his book called, “The Boy Crisis: Why our boys are struggling and what we can do about it.” We dig into the challenges boys face now and how parents and others can help them become the men everyone wants them to be. https://traffic.libsyn.com/secure/shapingopinion/Boy_Crisis_auphonic.mp3 Over the past couple of decades, there has been a gradual shift in the way society has approached issues affecting both boys and girls. One of the more surprising tends that has come out of this are many indicators that boys have suffered. In all 63 of the most developed nations, boys are falling behind. They're falling behind in school with scores dropping in reading and writing. Boys are more likely to drop out of high school and college than girls. They are more likely to die from an opioid overdose. Boys and young men are more prone to depression and suicides than girls and young women. Once in their 20s, men are five times more likely to commit suicide than women. There has been a noticeable drop in the average IQ for boys. These are just some of the indicators that Warren Farrell cites in his landmark book called, “The Boy Crisis.” Warren has written many books about men and family over the years. He's done an extensive amount of original research on men's issues in society. As a result, he's gained insights into how those issues start to take shape long before boys become men. In honor of Father's Day, Kevin and Niseema welcome Dr. Warren Farrell PhD, author of The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys are Struggling and What We Can Do About It. The crisis? More and more boys are growing up without fathers. This leads them to not only miss out on the father/son bond, but also to a higher likelihood of high school dropout, use of drugs, and a whole host of mental health vulnerabilities. Respecting the roles fathers can have with their sons gives us insight into how nurturing the "father instinct" leads to a more stable home, life, and society.Dr. Warren Farrell's books include: The Myth of Male Power, Women Can't Hear What Men Don't Say, Does Feminism Discriminate Against Men? and Why Men Are The Way They Are.---------------------------------------------For more information and to contact Dr. Warren Farrell please go to:www.boycrisis.orgFor more information or support contact Kevin or Niseema at info@thepositivemindcenter.com, or call 212-757-4488. If I measure a book's quality by how much it changes my perspective and enables me to improve my life, Dr. Farrell's The Myth of Male Power (1993) is one of the best books I've read. He's written valuable book after valuable books since, up to and including The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It (2018).I grew up believing in equality between the sexes and believe so now more than ever. Dr. Farrell's insight helped illuminate and clarify ways I and society don't empathize with men or realize how men are trapped and suffer. I've written about the chip on my shoulder about how people respond to my sharing my suffering to say my suffering isn't suffering and that I'm actually causing others to suffer or that the best I can do is to shut up and listen. I knew something was missing. His work helped make things fall into place. If I measure someone's leadership by how much that person influences others through inspiration, not coercion or authoritarian means, Dr. Farrell is a great leader. My mentor, Frances Hesselbein, also says the role of a leader is to see what others don't, which he does too.Bringing things back our environment, his leadership in seeing and clearly describing what others don't resembles what I find mission in sustainability. I'll always welcome more science and reporting, but we lack leadership. We lack people who inspire by connecting with their intrinsic motivations. I believe we can learn from him and apply what he's achieved in sustainability.Warren Farrell's home page See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
It's not the flashy things or the quick things that make us grow...it's the internal decisions, inquiries and uncomfortable thoughts and actions we put ourselves through. Listen in on the most effective practices I've learned for us men to truly become authentic and driven. Thank you so much for listening to the Rebel Minded Podcast! Dr Warren Farrell is a political scientist, educator, and bestselling author of The Myth of Male Power and The Boy Crisis. He defected from the heights of the feminist movement, the National Organization for Women in the 1970's, and at great personal cost he set out an adventure to share the truths that he knew about men, women, and families. The Financial Times of London named him one of the world's top 100 thought leaders. His books are published in more than 50 countries and 19 languages. He's taught at the university level in five disciplines, and been interviewed multiple times by Oprah, Larry King, and most recently Dr. Jordan Peterson. In our conversation we discussed: His early days as a a feminist How he develops his signature sound bites A devastating challenge to the idea of "male privilege” Couples communication And how father involvement helps children, and especially boys, live longer Despite his monumental contributions, some men I meet don't know of Warren or his work. I think in some ways this is indicative of us losing touch with our roots. But we all need to know where we come from. And it's possible none of us would be here without Warren . CW: frank discussion of misogyny, racism, homophobia, sexual violence, self-harm and suicide Yeah, we read theory. Rachel hops on the mic again for a mondo episode as we pore through Warren Farrell's seminal piece of social study that has been the intellectual backbone of the Men's Rights Movement since the 90's: "The Myth of Male Power". No surprise it's crank horseshit, conjured by a sun-baked San Diego dipshit with terminal End of History Brain. But before you discount his insights entirely, know that Warren also has a lot to say about babies fuckin, you know, hypothetically, as a thought experiment. What happens to a society that tells generation after generation of white men that they deserve power? That's the question author Ijeoma Oluo poses in her new book, "Mediocre: The Dangerous Legacy of White Male America." A follow-up to her bestselling book "So You Want to Talk About Race," Oluo continues her examination of race in America with a wide-ranging cultural history of white male identity and power that she argues has devastating consequences on women, people of color and white men themselves. We talk to Oluo about the book and what’s needed to dismantle the constructs that perpetuate white male supremacy.

In honor of November's Men's Health Awareness Month, Dr. Warren Farrell joins hosts Kevin O'Donoghue and Niseema Dyan Diemer to examine The Boy Crisis. The crisis, in brief, is that boys are growing up without fathers leading them to not only miss out on the father/son bond but, Dr. Farrell believes, leading to lack of social skills, a likelihood to drop out of school, use drugs and experience mental health issues on a broad scale. The roles of men have changed in society: we need to adjust our thinking to encourage fathers and sons to be valued for their intrinsic worth as they are, not just as providers or moneymakers. Respecting the roles fathers have embraced with their sons and daughters, especially during COVID, gives us insight as to how nurturing the "father instinct" leads to a more stable home life and society in general.Dr. Warren Farrell is an educator, activist and author of seven books on men and women's issues. In today's episode of Raising the Bar we talk to multiple New York times bestselling author Warren Farrell about his latest book The Boy Crisis. Having once been a second wave feminist and on the board for the national organisation for women, Warren started investigating the men's side, and realised it was actually men who were struggling more in society not women. Warren later became a figurehead for men's rights with his groundbreaking work "The Myth of Male Power."

In this interview with Steve Mayeda, we're cover a ton of bases. Feminism, Male Empowerment and Liberation. The Myth of Male Power, and let me tell you, if you want a Men's Movement ... here it is!
The role of the father in raising children is often downplayed in society, but what do fathers bring to the table that mothers do not, why does the absence of a father have such long-lasting effects, and what steps can we take today to be there for our children? What to Listen ForWhat is dad deprivation and what role does it play as a child is growing up?What is the purpose void and why is it more important now that more children are growing up without a father? What are the two primary purposes in a man's life and how has the development of society made it more difficult for men to feel fulfilled in either one?How does porn become addictive to young men and how does it shift the way men view women, sex, and relationships? What are the primary differences between mom-style parenting and dad-style parenting? What is the single biggest predictor of success and how do you teach it to children? How do you teach postponement of gratification to children and why is it so important to building the life you want? What is the difference between being aggressive and being assertive? What can you do to reverse ADHD?What role do family dinner nights have in a child's development and what 5 things can you do to make those family dinners constructive rather than destructive? What steps can we take today to improve as parents? The father in many shows and movies seems to be there just for comic relief by being a hardass or totally incompetent while the mother is portrayed as “the real parent.” But the father's role in raising kids is significantly more important than we tend to give it credit for.As Warren Farrell stated, “Children who have father involvement are far less likely to be obese, far less likely to have ADHD, far less likely to do worse in every single academic area, and far less likely to be depressed or commit suicide.”And those are just a few of the effects that a good father has on his kids. It's crucial there be a balance of masculine and feminine influence in a child's life in order for that child to grow into a well-rounded human being able to handle the ups and downs and twists and turns of life. It is the tension created by the difference between the parents that allows their children to find a happy medium that works for who they are.A Word From Our SponsorsShare your vulnerabilities, victories, and questions in our 17,000-member private Facebook group at theartofcharm.com/challenge. SPECIAL FATHER'S DAY EPISODE: Dads, never doubt the critical role you play in your home or your children's lives. The epidemic of fatherlessness has been building for decades and is now sweeping the globe. Its impact is being felt around the world—specifically with boys. To help explain this, my guest today is, Dr. Warren Farrell, author of the bombshell book titled "The Boy Crisis." In this book, Dr. Farrell points out that in 70 of the world's largest developed nations, boys have fallen behind girls. And he calls attention to two categories of boys that are now emerging in today's psychological literature: dad-deprived boys and dad-enriched boys. The data and research provided by Farrell in this episode simply underscore the importance of fathers in today's society, and he provides a few examples of how fatherlessness can (and has) led to very tragic circumstances. What You'll Hear: Why boys grow up to hurt others How we can channel boys to be healthier and less destructive The role a father plays in helping his son find purpose And hear about the power of purpose in a boy's life Hear insight into why 90% of mass shooters are dad-deprived males Hear why our prison system is a home for dad-deprived males Learn the number one cause for crisis among boys Hear how inner-city crime is directly influenced by father involvement Learn why divorced couples must NOT speak negatively about each other in front of their children Learn about the different parenting styles and roles of moms vs dads Hear how rough-house style play positively impacts boys and equips them for their future Dr. Farrell has authored numerous works which have been published in over 50 countries, and 15 languages, including two award-winning international best-sellers titled, "Why Men Are the Way They Are" and "The Myth of Male Power." Farrell has been chosen by the Financial Times as one of the world's top 100 thought leaders. In today’s episode, Shaun breaks down a destructive new policy from the Democratic Party designed to prevent future candidates like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley from challenging powerful white male incumbents.
When you make moral judgments, what is happening at the psychological level? According to one theory, you’re applying a template of two roles: an intentional wrongdoer and a sensitive and vulnerable victim. The more closely that template fits a situation, the more likely you are to deem the situation immoral. Research by today’s guest, Tania Reynolds, shows how these moral evaluations intersect with gender, and it reveals that people more easily stereotype men as powerful wrongdoers, and women as sensitive victims. Tania is a social psychologist and postdoctoral fellow at the Kinsey Institute. She’s joining us from Bloomington, Indiana. There are two guests on part one of this very special two-part 200th episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. Kevin Willmott is a professor of film at The University of Kansas. He is also one of the writers on Spike Lee's great new film BlacKkKlansman. Kevin and Chauncey discuss the surreal truth of how Ron Stallworth, a black man, teamed up with a fellow police officer, who is Jewish, to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan. Kevin also reflects on how BlacKkKlansman is a direct counter to the racism and bigotry of Trump's America, W.E.B. Du Bois' concept of "double consciousness", blaxploitation films and the desperation of hate mongers. Chauncey and Kevin also share what happened when they watched BlacKkKlansman in a theater with white Donald Trump supporters. Joe Feagin is the second guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. He is a distinguished professor of sociology at Texas A&M University and one of the leading scholars of race and social inequality in the world. Professor Feagin has written dozens of books including The White Racial Frame:Centuries of Racial Framing and Counter-Framing, Racist America, and How Blacks Built America. During this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Professor Feagin and Chauncey discuss the myth of white "working class anxiety" and Trump's election, liberal racism, and all of the myths and half-truths being circulated about race and class in the parts of the country which voted for Donald Trump. Professor Feagin also offers some warnings about the hope that "millennials" and other young white people will be and are less racist and bigoted than their parents and grandparents. In this week's very special 200th episode, Chauncey DeVega ponders if a black man named Daryl Davis who befriends white supremacists and brings them to the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. is a hero or perhaps just a well-intentioned but gullible man. And at the end of this week's show, Chauncey gives some advice to a black woman who is dating a white man who refuses to acknowledge her anxieties and fears about racism and violence in Trump's America.

Boys are in a state of crisis. At least, that's what my guest, Dr. Warren Farrell, argues. And his argument is compelling. Sixty percent of first-year college students are women. Boys are more likely to be suspended from school or labeled ADHD than their female counterparts. Dr. Farrell joins us to talk about the boy crisis and its origins - what he calls the Myth of Male Power, also the title of one of his books. Host Allison R.
