Almost seven years ago, co-hosts Madigan and Keegan watched one of the most infuriating documentaries (we think) was ever made. The Red Pill (by director and so-called "feminist" Cassie Jaye in 2016) focuses on the frightening world of Men's Rights Activism and the incel movement. Learn more about your ad choices. This episode was recorded on January 4th, 2024. Erin Pizzey, born in China with her twin sister Kate, settled in England after a childhood of frequent moves due to her diplomat father. In 1971, she opened the world's first women's refuge in Chiswick, London, and later established numerous shelters during the 1970s and 1980s. Erin became well-known for her court battles over overcrowded refuges and her appearances on top chat shows, earning a reputation as a crusader for the destitute. Her advocacy extended to squatting in properties to provide shelter. Erin brought domestic violence to public attention, compelling authorities to address the issue. She moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the 1980s after receiving death threats for highlighting female-perpetrated abuse, as detailed in her book "Prone to Violence." She returned to London in 1997 and advocated for male abuse victims, becoming a patron of ManKind Initiative and Families Need Fathers. In 2013, Erin joined the advisory board of A Voice for Men and appeared in the 2016 documentary "The Red Pill." In 2023, she was featured in "Erin: Beyond the Bruises." Erin authored several cult classics, including "Scream Quietly or the Neighbours Will Hear" and "This Way to the Revolution: A Memoir." She believes domestic abuse is generational and not gender-specific, advocating for multi-generational therapy to break the cycle of violence. First off, it's important to note what brought the Red Pill movement and the so-called Mano-verse into existence: Feminism. Not Egalitarianism, but Feminism. And even that isn't fair, Feminism can only thrive when the Church is not a clear alternative. The World will always be the World, but Salt and Light are affirmative, transformative forces. Rot and darkness cannot have their way unless we fail to be what we should be as a Church. The sentiment that a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle, is not only incorrect, but harmful. Not only does it harm the women, who have become more unhappy since the Second Wave of Feminism in the 1970s, but it also harms men.(1) Some men have reacted to the ire of the Modern Feminist, not by persevering, but by becoming resentful. Note, I'm not saying that Red Pillers are necessarily angry women haters, but that does adequately describe some. So what is the Red Pill movement and when did it really explode? Well, the term obviously comes from the scene in the Matrix where Neo is offered two pills by his soon to be mentor Morpheous, take the blue pill and continue to live in a rat race that gets you nowhere and be oblivious to reality, or take the red pill and become aware of reality and face it on a hero's journey. The analogy here is that dating and money are a Matrix-like construct that have secret rules that have been formed to imprison you, the unwitting man. Girls really want a man who treats them poorly and money is easy to come by if you have confidence, at least this is what it has become. There are three main groups that the term “Red Pill” may include: MRA (Men's Rights Activists), MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way), and the Man-O-Verse (the embrace of so-called Toxic Masculinity). MRAs are, perhaps, the most sympathetic of the Red Pilled groups. The main complaints of MRAs are that women tend to get the children in divorce 90/10 (this is disputed to be a 65/35 by some evidence and studies, but 90/10 is the claim), men tend to lose most in divorce court, and that 80% of divorces are initiated by women. All of these may be legitimate issues, but the MRA movement has developed an image as bitter and resentful. This was perhaps best changed by Cassie Jaye's documentary named Red Pilled. Cassie Jaye started her expose on the MRA movement from the standpoint of a frustrated feminist, purposed to destroy the “misogynist” and “resentful” MRA movement. Her interviews and research actually led to a change of view on her part. MRAs were mostly divorced men who had mostly accurate critiques of the modern institution of divorce and the collapse of marriage. However, Christ said something very meaningful about demon possession, and I believe that it applies here: Luke 11:24-26: 24When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. If you do not replace bad ideology with good theology, the state of the culture is worse than the first state, as we will see. Men Going Their Own Way, is a simple enough movement. Hypergamy, Lust for Money, and Shallowness define the modern woman in the eyes of the MGTOW. Therefore, these men have given up on personal interaction with women. The physical needs for female companionship are simply replaced with stoic celibacy, homosexuality, and/or pornography. This is bitterness as pure and clear as the angry raging blue hair feminist protesting in an pro-abortion rally. These men have completely rejected God's command to be fruitful and multiply. Thank God, the Hebrews didn't decide to go MGTOW or there wouldn't be a savior for this world. That would have delighted Satan, wouldn't it? However inconsequential these modern MGTOW men may be to prophecy, the Enemy of Our Souls still is after their joy and the potential that they could enjoy in the light of Godly living. In Genesis 2:18 God said: “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” Forgiveness, however, is usually the main problem here. Does the MGTOW view of women actually stand the test of reality? Do most women really operate in this way, or just the ones who live in clubs and in college parties? The answer is not to abstain from marriage, but to rather find a Proverbs 31 woman, instead of a Proverbs 9 woman. In Proverbs 31, we see the woman that the modern feminist yearns to be, in Proverbs 9, however, we see an accurate description of what the modern feminist has become. Search out Godly women, and perhaps your views of women may change. Finally, what is the Man-O-Verse? From the seeds sown by the MRA and MGTOW movements, have sprouted fertile marks for men like the infamous Andrew Tate. Andrew Tate is the most ubiquitous name on the internet now. He is loved/hated for his hot takes. The man has made millions off of young men, and some old men too, who have been taken captive by the Red Pill idea. Most of what the Red Pill movement has to offer is based in truth, that's what makes it so easy to twist into a money making scheme. Most of what Tate says is true, but you have to evaluate actions as well as words. Tate speaks about hard work, being a manly man and bringing home the bacon so that his girl can enjoy a good life. None of these things are inherently bad, they even ring true. Unfortunately, the Church has developed a rather effeminate view of manhood in recent years and this has also painted Christ Himself in an effeminate light. Christ was meek. Meek, and yet also willing to whip the money changers out of the temple. Christ did not allow himself to be stoned by the angry mob either. Christ stood firm, yet fulfilled His purpose with duty and stoic competence. The Church would do well to not cede masculinity to the world as a thing of bygone eras. Otherwise, grifters can take on the trappings of masculinity and appear to have something to offer that the Church does not. Just a note, this doesn't mean act like Tate as far as the vulgar, base, and animalistic tendencies are concerned. Christ was kind to the many women in His life and was the reason the West began to see a shift in the treatment of the fairer sex. One can be strong, masculine, and protect those placed within their care without appearing either weak or brutish. Just a note.. Tate is an online guru who may or may not have committed domestic violence against his girlfriends over the year in multiple instances (one of the videos was later released in its entirety, and the two were both joking about her wanting to be hit harder, and not in a sarcastic way. It's hard to know what's real and what's not concerning the abuse allegations.) However, abuse or not, Tate has employed classic pimp tactics to traffic his girlfriends online and wrote an online course on how to duplicate his success pimping his paramores on web cameras. This is not masculinity, this is purely selfish promotion. So what is the take away? The Church has the response to Feminism, and the MRA/MGTOW/Man-O-Verse delimas. The Biblical view of marriage and the differences between men and women need to be on display, more than ever before. https://law.yale.edu/sites/default/files/documents/pdf/Intellectual_Life/Stevenson_ParadoxDecliningFemaleHappiness_Dec08.pdf https://ifstudies.org/blog/counterintuitive-trends-in-the-link-between-premarital-sex-and-marital-stability https://www.profgalloway.com/divor https://sites.utexas.edu/contemporaryfamilies/2018/10/08/premaritalcohabitation/ce/ https://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/a-woman-needs-a-man-like-a-fish-needs-a-bicycle.html
Naomi Wolf is one of my favourite feminists and runs the Daily Clout. Naomi Rebekah Wolf is an American feminist author and journalist. Following her first book The Beauty Myth, she became a leading spokeswoman of what has been described as the third wave of the feminist movement. Feminists including Gloria Steinem and Betty Friedan praised her work. Others, including Camille Paglia, criticized it. In the 1990s, she was a political advisor to the presidential campaigns of Bill Clinton and Al Gore. Wolf's later books include the bestseller The End of America in 2007 and Vagina: A New Biography. I am generally antagonistic towards (modern) feminism because it often appears to be a celebration of victimhood culture and a deliberate attack on family values and men. Having watched Cassie Jaye's documentary, The Red Pill, I was left feeling disgusted at the excessive hatred being vomited by feminists who were interviewed. Naomi, however, is nowhere near any of that misandrist nonsense. She shoots guns; she opposes abortion; she rejects state tyranny; she is heavily censored; and she likes men. Brilliant. Radical Feminism has made dating harder for both women and men for a variety of reasons. Mike explains a few, along with some help from moderate feminists (Cassie Jaye and Christina Hoff Summers), comedians (Bill Burr and Mark Normand), as well as Judge Judy Scheindlan, and a panel from Face the Truth with Vivaca A. Dovetailing off recent episodes of this podcast - Episode #116 'Why Men Hate Going to Church' and Episode #130 'Reverse Sexism in American Churches' - I want to talk about the Men's Rights Movement. Micah Hershberger sent me two videos this week to mull over. Watch for our forthcoming episode of On The Rocks podcast in which we discuss those further. But for this episode, I want to take some time to process and unpack Cassie Jaye's documentary The Red Pill, and also this YouTube summary of what is being called MGTOW - the acronym for "Men Going Their Own Way." What should we make of these responses to feminism in our day? And do they perhaps in part explain why fewer young people today are getting married and settling down to raise a family than in previous generations? Let us bravely embrace the risk of offending everyone except the Almighty by delving into these matters so we can discern what is good and true, and how men and women can and should live in peace and harmony with one another according to God's Word. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/support

Let's talk about why we fail to see the emotional pain that men live with every day. Beliefs can tie us in knots and render us blind to the struggles of others when we fail to look more closely with an open mind and heart. Documentary film-maker Cassie Jaye's most notable film "The Red Pill" forced her to re-examine her beliefs about the Men's Rights Movements. She started her journey with one notion in her mind only to discover the very real pain and suffering that men experience when they are abused and mistreated, directed into dangerous work, or facing violent circumstances. The statistics around the dangers of life for men show that: 1 in 6 are sexually assaulted, they are more likely to experience violent assaults, are 93% more likely to die on the job than women, account for 73% of suicides, and are given longer prison terms for same/similar crimes than women. It seems that these real issues are overlooked and under-reported. Men are told to "suck it up", "get over it", "stop whining" and are shamed into tolerating violence even in their own intimate relationships. I wonder about these frightening numbers and how they are impacting the men in our lives. I wonder about the fathers, brothers, siblings, spouses and friends who are struggling. I wonder why these statistics are not better known. Toronto Psychologist, Dr. Yaacov Lefcoe brings a deep understanding of these issues from his readings, reflections, and clinical practice. He will help us to navigate these concepts and learn about what the drivers of involvement are for the men who join these groups. Dr. Lefcoe will also help us to understand the motivations that lead men to become Men's Rights Activists, PUAs (Pickup artists), Game and Inner Game Theorists (closest to PUAs) and MGTOWs (Men go their own way) of which Incels (involuntary celibates) is a part of. All of these individuals are said to have "taken" the Red Pill, which our guest Dr. Lefcoe will help us understand. We will try to gather information and be thoughtful as we try to figure out what is happening to the men in our society who are struggling, feeling hurt, alienated and distressed. Without this, we fail men who are struggling with their identity and this can lead to further failures at building healthy and meaningful relationships. On April 23, 2018, 25 year old Alek MInassian drove a rented van down Yonge Street in North York, Ontario killing 10 people and injuring 16 in a deadly vehicular attack. Upon apprehension by police, Minassian began demanding that the officer shoot him "in the head!" This did not occur and instead he was taken into custody by a level-headed officer on the scene. Following the attack a Facebook post revealed that he identified himself as an "incel" or involuntary celibate. His anger during the attack was largely focused on female pedestrians, who he perceived had rejected him and other "incel" men. This type of event leaves victims, survivors and community devastated and further disenfranchises men who are legitimately having difficulty fitting in and trying to establish themselves in a satisfying way in their lives, communities, relationships. We need to better understand these issues and develop healthier and more promising roads for men to take while they develop and mature into the best they can become. Take these two cases: In one, a seven-year-old boy was sent home for nibbling a Pop Tart into a gun. In another, a teacher was so alarmed by a picture drawn by a student (of a sword fight), that the boy's parents were summoned in for a conference. In short, boys in America's schools are routinely punished for being active, competitive, and restless. In other words, boys can no longer be boys. Christina Hoff Sommers, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, explains how we can change this. Donate today to PragerU! http://l.prageru.com/2ylo1Yt Joining PragerU is free! Boys tend to be disorganized and restless. Some have even been known to be noisy and hard to manage. Sound like any boy you know? But increasingly, our schools have little patience for what only a couple of decades ago would have been described as “boyishness.” As psychologist Michael Thompson has aptly observed: “Girls behavior is the gold standard in schools. Boys are treated like defective girls.” As a result, these “defective girls” are not faring well academically. Compared with girls, boys earn lower grades, win fewer honors they’re are far less likely to go to college. Boys are languishing academically, while girls are prospering. In an ever more knowledge-based economy, this is not a recipe for a successful society. We need to start thinking about how we can make our grade school classrooms more boy-friendly. Well, here are four reforms that would make a very good start. 1. Turn boys into readers. In all age groups, across all ethnic lines, boys score lower than girls on national reading tests. Good reading skills -- need I say? -- are critical to academic and workplace success. A major study in the UK discovered, not surprisingly, that girls prefer fiction, magazines, and poetry while boys prefer comics and non-fiction. Boys whose eyes glaze over if forced to read Little House on the Prairie may be riveted by the Guinness Book of Records. Boys will read if given materials that interest them. If you’re looking for suggestions for books that have proved irresistible to boys go to guysread.com. 2. Inspire the male imagination. Celebrated writing instructor Ralph Fletcher contends that too many teachers take what is called “the confessional poet” as the classroom ideal. Personal narratives full of emotions and self-disclosure -- these are stories girls commonly write -- and these are prized; whereas action stories describing, say, a skateboard competition or a monster devouring a city, these are not. I recently read about a third-grader in Southern California named Justin who loved science-fiction, pirates, and battles. An alarmed teacher summoned his parents to school to discuss the picture the 8-year-old had drawn of a sword fight -- which included several decapitated heads. The teacher expressed grave “concern” about Justin’s “values.” The boy’s father was astonished, not by his son’s drawing which to him was typical boy stuff, but by the teacher’s overwrought -- and female-centered -- reaction. If boys are constantly subject to disapproval for their interests and enthusiasms they are likely to become disengaged and lag further behind. Our schools need to work with, not against, the kinetic imaginations of boys. In today’s show we tackle a lot of the issues that complicate making “good” decisions. We oftentimes get stuck trying to prove to ourselves what we are really dealing with. The discussion starts off with a question of, “what is the red pill”. Duane dives into the origins from the movie “The Matrix” and then how it pertains to our situation. We then cover a question where one listener’s son is saying he “wants a new mommy”. Duane then talks about how he was programmed to think his own father was a “bad guy”. Duane then brings Debby in as a guest for a bit of the show. We then go into the question of why do we keep “touching the hot pan” and why it takes a while to “learn the lesson” and trust what is real. We finish up talking about taking the time to heal and how you really owe it to yourself to “jump in” the water and get the work done!Participate in the show!During the show you can call in live at1 (424) 373-54831 (424) DSD-LIVEhttps://www.callinstudio.com/show/DSDLIVE (Web Interface - free dialing)You can also leave a voicemail through the DSD websiteTable of Contents00:00 - Start of show01:44 - What is the “Red Pill”08:06 - Comment - Divorce can turn a normal guy into a criminal12:09 - How I got through this15:15 - Comment - When your kids say they want a new mom18:03 - Comment - When I left son asked if I was still going to be his dad20:37 - Discussion - Was I programed to view my dad as bad?25:24 - Brought Debby into the conversation27:37 - Comment - Marriage is a business contract32:31 - Clip from Veronika Archer about “You Get to be YOU this time”35:21 - Discussion - Why we keep toughing the hot pot on the stove44:28 - Comment - If marriage is to come fine but I’m not going to rush it49:03 - Get more support on the DSD Discord50:23 - Comment - Done with relationships for a long time54:53 - End of show wrap-upShow SponsorThis episode was sponsored by Hypnosis Downloads - you can find out more and support the Podcast by visiting http://www.dadsurvivingdivorce.com/hypnosisLinks to find out more!YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/dadsurvivingdivorceWebsite - https://www.dadsurvivingdivorce.comHypnosis - http://www.dadsurvivingdivorce.com/hypnosisYou Get To Be You - https://yougettobeyou.com/duaneThe Red Pill - A Cassie Jaye Documentary - http://theredpillmovie.com/

She has directed and produced over a dozen films and commercials, but she is probably most known for her documentary 'The Red Pill' and her TEDx talk about making the film. 'The Red Pill' chronicles her journey as a feminist learning about the Men's Rights Movement. The film was released worldwide in March 2017 and has garnered multiple awards including the Women in Film Award at Hollywood DigiFest. Despite much praise and recognition for shedding light on an aspect of Gender Equality rarely discussed, the film was also the target of many petitions, protests, and censorship by theaters who caved to pressure to pull the film from their screens. Cassie Jaye is an award-winning American documentary filmmaker behind the quote-un-quote controversial movie “The Red Pill”, a documentary chronicling a ‘feminist’s journey into the Mens’ Rights Movement' which posed questions about the future of gender equality. Cassie also has a prolific online presence and recently delivered a TEDX talk, all of which was preceded by the production and release of other documentaries which explored LGBT and women’s issues. Australian audiences might remember Cassie from a “controversial’”appearance Channel 10’s “The Project” in which hosts were puzzled by her response to their skewed questions. We go into that viral moment in our chat, but also discuss the ironic intolerance the internet has fostered in our current age, social climates suffocating from political correctness, and how changes in the way news outlets make money has informed our “fake news” milieu.
