V dnešním díle podcastu Pay Gap mluvíme o produktivitě, workoholismu i hustle culture. Ep. 234 | Renowned thought leader, speaker, and prolific author Warren Farrell has a passion for getting the truth out about issues that matter deeply—issues with enormous human consequences that might begin to heal if people better understood the forces driving these trends: the boy crisis, fatherlessness, the cultural tendency to vilify men, and the lack of healthy and effective communication between men and women. Warren has authored several data-driven bestselling books that go right to the heart of these matters, and in this conversation his expertise is clearly evident, right alongside his dedication to do everything he can to shift the evolution of the harmful idea that women are good but men are bad.Warren has put himself on the line time and again to stand up for fatherless boys. He puts out a clarion call to couples to communicate with care, so that a father can be involved with the raising of a child, and in his books and workshops, Warren offers concrete steps to minimize children's trauma, such as his four must-do's after a divorce and the caring and sharing practices he teaches couples around accepting criticism without getting defensive. Immensely insightful, immensely practical, Warren points the way forward through a territory that has become murky, difficult, and hateful. Guaranteed, you will learn things about our contemporary culture you didn't know before, and be inspired to do what you can to heal the disastrous divide between the sexes.
Amy Bridges posed a simple question in the Milo Mastermind community and it sparked a conversation Preston and Clay couldn't let go: does presenting yourself as a freelancer or as an agency actually make a difference in closing clients? The answer turns out to be more nuanced than a simple either/or. In this episode, Preston and Clay dig into the psychology of the sales pitch, why individual trust almost always drives the buying decision, and how the structure you choose—solo or team—should match the kind of client you actually want to work with. Jennie Garth went from working on bean fields for 25 cents an hour to buying her first home as a teenager after landing the role of Kelly Taylor in 90210. When she hit it big, people tried to tell her that she didn't need to know about her finances. Today, she shares the money lessons she learned the hard way. Jennie and Nicole dig into the psychology behind money: why a scarcity mindset can literally choke off your income, what "Tall Poppy Syndrome" is and why high-achieving women keep cutting themselves down, and how negative self-talk about money doesn't just hurt you… it hurts your kids, too. Jennie also shares why she and her husband Dave don't combine finances, how she's embracing the “I Choose Me” philosophy, and the parenting advice she'd give any new mom. In this deeply honest and theologically rich episode, Heather Creekmore welcomes Jen Oshman—author, missionary, and mom of four daughters—to tackle a question many women silently struggle with: Is it good that I was born a woman? Together, they candidly explore how issues of body image, shame, and the cultural pressures of womanhood can lead to deep-seated doubts and frustration. Drawing from global and biblical perspectives, Jen Oshman shares insights gathered from years of cross-cultural ministry and studying God’s word. She addresses the vulnerabilities women face, both physically and socially, and how Western and global cultures shape our understanding of femininity. Jen Oshman unpacks what the Bible says about being female, highlighting the unique and powerful stories of women in Scripture that often get overlooked, and discusses why God’s design for women is not only intentional but also very good. Key Topics Covered Why the question, “Is it good that I was born a woman?” is more common than we realize The impact of shame, fear, and the lived realities of being female in our culture How body image struggles can be rooted in deeper frustrations about being a woman A biblical look at femininity—separating culture’s checklist from God’s truth The meaning of “helper” (Ezer) in Genesis and its empowering implications Why diversity among women in Scripture matters—and what we can learn from their stories Studying tough Old Testament laws (like menstruation) in context and seeing God’s heart of care for women Practical encouragement for women who wrestle with their purpose and God’s plan for their gender How to dig deeper into biblical womanhood with Jen’s new Lifeway Bible study, “Very Good” Connect with Jen here: https://www.jenoshman.com Grab a copy of Jen's new Bible study: "Very Good" on Amazon here.** Amazon affiliate link. Soukromé a profesní životy zkrátka neoddělíme, a pokud máme navíc děti, vliv domácího nastavení, rozdělení péče, časových dispozic a mentální zátěže se do našich kariérních drah propisuje velmi zásadně. Jakou roli v tom hraje prolaktin? Jak zacházet s argumentem “Já přece nosím domů peníze”? Jaká jsou čtyři znamení nefunkční komunikace? A proč jsme všechny tak unavené? Tuhle epizodu si rozhodně nenechte ujít. Chcete nás vidět a slyšet víc? What if your writing passion and your paid writing career aren't meant to fully overlap? Many novelists and memoir writers feel discouraged when their creative work doesn't immediately translate into income. You love writing. You feel called to tell stories. But the reality of publishing, book deals, and building an author platform can make it feel like you're falling behind financially while chasing creative fulfillment. This episode explores the Passion Pay Gap — the emotional and financial space between what you love to write and what currently pays your bills.I'm joined by Will Parker Anderson, senior editor at Penguin Random House and founder of Writer Circle, who offers a deeply encouraging and realistic perspective on:• Why most writers won't earn a full-time income from books alone • How your day job can support — not sabotage — your creative life • The myth of “getting paid to do what you love” • How to define success beyond book deals and advances • Making peace with seasons of slow creative progress • Practical ways to keep writing when life feels fullIf you've ever wondered:“Am I wasting my writing talent?” “Should I quit if my books aren't paying?” “Is it possible to pursue publishing and still enjoy writing?”This conversation will feel like a deep exhale.Whether you're drafting your first novel, querying agents, writing memoir, or balancing writing with a full-time career, this episode offers clarity, permission, and a healthier way to think about money, creativity, and your long-term writing life.Because being a writer isn't just about landing a book deal. It's about building a meaningful body of work — in ways that fit your real life.

Chcete nás vidět a slyšet víc? Working women are being encouraged to bill the Prime Minister directly for the money they're not getting due to the gender pay gap. The campaign launched today by the group STILL Minding the Gap is calling on the government to introduce mandatory gender and ethnic pay gap reporting for businesses. At the moment it's voluntary. The group said making it mandatory would shrink the gap between 20 and 40 percent. STILL Minding the Gap campaign manager Jo Cribb spoke to Lisa Owen.

About This EpisodeIn this guest episode I sit down with Professor Marc J. Defant, Professor of Geology and Geochemistry whose work spans the physical sciences and evolutionary psychology.Recently he published a peer-reviewed paper in Sexuality & Culture titled “Evolutionary Psychology and the Crisis of Empirical Rigor in Feminist Studies” - https://rdcu.be/eOkjZThe paper argues that much of modern feminist scholarship is ideology and not grounded in any truth. Professor Defant and I discuss how social constructivism has created confusion about relationships, work, masculinity, and femininity. We explore human evolution, parental investment theory, cross-cultural studies of mate selection preferences, and much more.Listen in to learn how feminism might have broken an old template but has gone too far in denying human nature, why suppressing sex differences actually clarifies them more, the real roots of the pay gap, and what's really going on between men and women today.Get in touch with Professor Marc J. If you've ever been offered a promotion that felt smaller than your male peer's, or wondered why everyone loves working with you but you're still not getting the resources, this conversation explains why. Professor Laura Kray's research reveals that society recognizes men through power but women through status - and this has real consequences. Even at identical organizational levels, men lead larger teams than women. And team size directly predicts compensation. Professor Laura Kray is Professor at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and her research on debunking myths about the gender pay gap won a decade award for social impact. ----------------------- Craving inspiration? Jerry opens the show with a story of his experience buying in-store. Francis Syms joins him to unpack the trial putting Meta, TikTok and YouTube under scrutiny for the impact their platforms may have on children. Automotive writer Brian Turner weighs in on the increasingly bright headlights on modern cars. And Jerry breaks down a new study showing that Ontario government workers earn more than private‑sector employees.
Emergency physician Resa E. Lewiss and health care executive Jake Horowitz discuss their article, "Why women ER doctors earn $21,000 less than men." They reveal staggering new data that shatters the myth that the gender pay gap does not exist in emergency medicine, showing how it persists even after controlling for hours, experience, and patient volume. Resa and Jake explore the hard numbers: women ER physicians earn $21,000 less annually, a salary disparity that widens to over $40,000 late in their careers. This is not about output, it is about systemic inequity in the health care system that contributes directly to physician burnout and attrition among women physicians. The discussion moves beyond the problem to focus on solutions, highlighting the critical need for pay transparency, hospital audits, and collective action to demand pay equity. Learn how data can expose the truth and finally help fix the systemic issues robbing women doctors of millions in career earnings. Our presenting sponsor is Microsoft Dragon Copilot. Forget “closing the gap.” It's widening — for the first time since the 1960s. And if you're waiting for the system to fix it, you'll be waiting forever. Because as Cindy Gallop says: no one's coming to save us. Cost of waiting: Every underpaid year compounds the gap — not just in salary, but in wealth, opportunity, and ownership. Culture, flexibility, and growth opportunities close compensation gaps that seem insurmountable on paper, and the credit unions understanding this difference are winning employees who could make more elsewhere. In this episode of Grow Your Credit Union, host Joshua Barclay and co-host Becky Reed welcome back Brian Lee, President and CEO at Arizona Central Credit Union, to explore: Whether the top 10 credit unions' compensation advantage creates a real talent war. Call it what you like — sleep deprivation/sleep recession/The Exhaustion Economy —but when you're not getting enough sleep as a parent, it's sheer torture. And when actor Keira Knightley named it for the hell it is, every parent felt it in their (tired) bones. This week, we’re unpacking the long-haul burnout that comes with parenting — and the societal shrug that keeps it invisible. Meanwhile, if you think your parenting Group Chats are delivering chaos, you're not alone. Amelia (ever the secret Nicole) has three golden rules to survive them, while Monz is rolling out the five parent archetypes you’ll absolutely recognise.
In this episode of Inside Employment, hosts Drew Pearson, Lucy Boyd, and Stephanie Blancquart unpack the evolving landscape of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace. They explore the growing regulatory momentum in Australia – particularly the upcoming Gender Undervaluation awards review at the Fair Work Commission – and what it means for employers navigating modern award obligations and pay gap reporting. The discussion also touches on the global shift away from traditional DEI initiatives, contrasting it with Australia's intensifying focus on systemic reform. With key decisions expected to roll out from November into the new year, this episode offers insights for employers preparing for change.
Send us a textThis week, I'm calling out what the gender pay gap really represents: and it's not a few cents on the dollar. It's a power gap that has quietly stripped women of wealth, visibility, and recognition for decades. I unpack why women in both corporate and entrepreneurial spaces keep getting excluded from positions of influence, how “equal pay for equal work” misses the point entirely, and why midlife women are waking up to a system designed to profit from their silence. This episode dives into leadership, authority, and what it takes to step outside the system and start architecting your own. Caution: It may trigger you into rebellion. Have you ever wondered why so many women still earn less - even when they're doing just as much (if not more)? The numbers are staggering: on average, there's a $1 million lifetime earnings gap between women and men. That's not just a statistic, it's a wake-up call. In this episode, I'm joined by Roxanne Calder, Managing Director of EST10 and author of Earning Power: Breaking Barriers and Building Wealth for Women. Roxanne has spent her career helping women take back their power and rewrite the rules around worth, confidence, and money. We dive into the deep roots of the gender pay gap - why so many women still don't ask for more, how societal conditioning to “be liked” holds us back, and what it takes to confidently claim your value. If you've ever hesitated to ask for a pay rise, raise your prices, or step into your next level - this episode will give you the mindset and motivation to change that. Key Episode Takeaways: There's a $1 million difference in women's lifetime earnings compared to men, awareness is the first step toward change. Taking back your power starts with asking for more, even when it feels uncomfortable. Societal conditioning to be “liked” can hold women back from advocating for themselves. Small, brave steps - whether it's negotiating a salary or trying an ice bath (Roxanne's form of meditation!) - build the muscle of confidence and courage. About the Guest: Roxanne Calder is a recruiter, career advisor, and employment expert. As the Managing Director of EST10, one of Australia's leading recruitment agencies, Roxanne has spent her career navigating the intricate intersections of talent and opportunity, reshaping how individuals and businesses approach success in the workplace. Her latest book Earning Power: Breaking Barriers and Building Wealth for Women gives you the mindset, tools and confidence to take control of your future. John Maytham is joined by renowned human rights activist Mark Heywood to unpack a growing global movement that challenges not poverty alone, but the unchecked accumulation of extreme wealth.
