In his sermon, Dr. Mike Glenn discusses Jesus' response when asked which commandment is most important - to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Glenn explains that truly loving God means desiring Him above all else, loving others requires receiving His outpoured love so it overflows to them, and loving yourself recognizes Christ's sacrifice proves your immense worth. Glenn challenges listeners not to delay living God's way and risk failing the final exam of life.

On this episode of Sermon Notes, Mike Glenn discusses the importance of having a succession plan in place for leadership positions in organizations. He also discusses the upcoming Senior Pastor transition in light of the Search Team's recommendation of Jay Strother.
Brian and Angie discuss Mike Glenn's open letter to the pastor who follows him. In the letter, Mike addresses five areas of ministry the next pastor of the church will have to navigate. The last one is Trauma is the new reality. Excerpt Mike Glenn's Letter: For the Pastor Who Follows Me Trauma is the new reality. For years we've been discussing the breakdown of the nuclear family without fully understanding the long-term ramifications. Now, those ramifications are being lived out in front of us. Few people you know, especially young adults, are stepping into their futures with a solid base for their lives. People get married hoping their partner will fix them. Couples have children hoping the child will make their marriage complete. Most people are walking around with a giant hole in their heart waiting for someone to validate their existence. This means that when we're dealing with people, the church isn't dealing with a clean slate. There's a lifetime of pain to deal with before any healing and growth can begin.
Welcome back to Sermon Notes podcast! In this episode, we're joined by Mike Glenn, senior pastor of Brentwood Baptist Church. During our conversation, Mike shares some insights into the rich history of his church, as well as a recent conversation with the governor of Tennessee. But the real highlight of the episode is when Mike takes us through his recent sermon on Acts 4, where he urges Christians to be bold and fearless, just like Peter and John after their arrest. So whether you're a long-time member of Brentwood Baptist or simply looking for some spiritual guidance in your life, this episode of Sermon Notes is not to be missed. Join us as we listen to Mike Glenn's powerful words and learn how we can all become bolder, more courageous Christians in our daily lives.

SIU is finally represented on this podcast! We got SIU & Carbondale legend Johnny Fayne on the show today for one of the most fun episodes we've had. He was one of the first names that former guest, Stephen Bardo, brought up when talking about the best to come out of the area, and Zach's dad had the chance to play against Fayne so this one was a special treat. Fayne was a decorated high school player at Carbondale Community High School and a key member of those early 80's SIU teams. The strong frame along with his amazing handle and guard skills made him a TOUGH cover for all of those that he went up against. Fayne tells us about Attucks Park, Larry Bird, Earl Monroe, Dominque Wilkins, Kevin McHale, Dodge City CC, SIU, Derek Harper, Paul Pressey, Fresh Start Facility Services, and MUCH more!BIG Thanks to Johnny Fayne for all of the laughs and amazing basketball and business stories. We of course have respect for the amazing players in the game of hoops, but we really admire what athletes do AFTER the ball is done bouncing. The success of Johnny Fayne after basketball is what we should all strive for.Thank you Johnny Fayne! You can find this episode on Apple, Spotify or any source for podcasts.Follow us on social media for news, updates and highlight reels!Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/notin.myhouse.79Instagram- @Not_in_my_house_podcastTwitter - @NOTINMYHOUSEpc
On this episode, Senior Pastor Mike Glenn talks about the dangers of social media, what evangelism should look like, plus a quick round of Turkey Jeopardy. Key Takeaways Social ministry is easier because it's tangible, but it needs to lead to a Gospel Conversation. Many churches have turned evangelism into a thing we do, not who we are. It needs to become an overflow of what Jesus is doing in our lives. We meet people where they are, then develop a relationship that points to Christ Jesus can take the worst moment of your life and turn it into the first line of your testimony

Reporter for The Washington Times Mike Glenn discusses the new Prime Minister of Italy.
(00:00-10:02): There's a new controversy coming out of Dave Ramsey's financial empire. The company “righteous living” rule was apparently not applied to at least one person. (10:02-18:53): How do you pick a church? For Pastors like Brian and Aubrey it's fairly simple, but for everyone else it's a little more complicated. (18:53-26:57): Are parents keeping their kids too busy these days? Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco has some helpful advice for raising your kids. (26:57-34:09): Everyone seems to have an opinion on the Matt Chandler story, and they also seem to feel like they absolutely have to share them online. Do we always have to share our hot takes? (34:09-41:41): Former George W. Bush speechwriter Michael Gerson says the ethos of Christ's movement is anti-elitist. Brian and Aubrey talked about what that means within the context of the church today. (41:41-50:30): Mike Glenn shared his “Larry the Cable Guy” theory on running a church. Brian and Aubrey shared their thoughts.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Satan is back! For the second consecutive episode we return to hell for another 80's Thrash classic. This time it's the genre defining Possessed who essentially spawned Death Metal with this record. It's a stone cold classic by any measure but that doesn't mean it's any good in 2022 (try listening to The Joshua Tree today). With Rod still out Mike & Glenn delve back into the depths and back to their youth of sleeveless band tees and puffy sneakers to see if Seven Churches is still worthy of its reputation.
