Interview with Dan Wilton, CEO of First Mining Gold Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/first-mining-gold-tsxff-approaching-key-permitting-milestone-6790Recording date: 4th December 2025First Mining Gold is approaching a pivotal moment in its development of two major Canadian gold projects, with CEO Dan Wilton outlining a clear pathway toward industry partnership and construction decisions over the next several years. The company's flagship Springpole project in Ontario, containing approximately 5 million ounces, awaits environmental assessment approval targeted for late Q1 or early Q2 2026. This milestone represents the culmination of an eight-year permitting process and addresses longstanding investor concerns about developing a deposit located in a lake bay. The recently updated prefeasibility study demonstrates robust economics with $2.1 billion after-tax NPV at $3,100 gold, rising to $3.8 billion at current spot prices of $4,200.Wilton emphasizes the project's exceptional gold price sensitivity, noting that "every hundred bucks the gold price goes up, that's $250 million of after tax NPV." Following environmental approval, the company plans to pursue an industry partnership modeled on Australia's Gold Road Resources, which retained 50% ownership while a partner built the mine, ultimately leading to a $2.5 billion acquisition. The company's second major asset, Duparquet in Quebec, contains 3.5 million ounces of measured and indicated resources and represents one of Canada's highest-grade open pit projects. Unlike Springpole, First Mining intends to advance Duparquet independently toward a potential 2030-31 construction decision, with the company currently expanding resources through ongoing drilling.First Mining has systematically monetized non-core assets, including recent partnerships on the Cameron project and retained interests in the high-grade Pickle Crow project. Trading at approximately $30 per ounce of resources compared to Canadian peer averages of $150-200 per ounce, Wilton frames the environmental assessment approval as "the biggest catalyst that we will see in this company probably from the time that it was formed."View First Mining Gold's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/first-mining-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
In this episode of The Future of Teamwork, host Dane Groeneveld talks with learning and development leader Greg Wilton about how generative AI is reshaping knowledge, skills, and talent pipelines. Greg shares how his career in corporate L&D and knowledge management led him to focus on “human enablement” rather than traditional training, emphasizing decision quality over content recall. They explore why so many AI pilots fail, what “ground truth” really means in a fast-changing business, and how leaders can use prompt engineering, critical thinking, and clear roles to get better outcomes from both humans and machines. Greg also highlights the impact of AI on entry-level roles and why reimagining early career work is now a strategic and moral imperative.

From Addis to the Barbican and back again, this episode dives into the sound-world shaped by Mulatu Astatke — the father of Ethio jazz. With Mulatu having recently completed his farewell tour, Steve goes back to a long, previously-unreleased interview he recorded with him during the making of Hackney Colliery Band's Collaborations: Volume One. What emerges is a portrait of a true pioneer: a composer trained in London and at Berklee, a collaborator with Duke Ellington, and the architect of a style heard across film soundtracks, samples and stages worldwide.Expect discussions of Ethio jazz's roots in traditional modes and tribal instruments; a journey through pentatonic and diminished scales; and Mulatu's deep reflections on African musical heritage and collaboration. There's even a live extract of Derashe from HCB's Barbican show — the tune he discusses in the interview. In this episode:• How Mulatu fused Ethiopian pentatonic traditions with jazz harmony and improvisation.• Why some Ethiopian tribes use diminished (whole–half) scales, and how that changes the emotional palette.• The story of Duke Ellington's Jazz Ambassadors tour — and how Ellington ended up performing one of Mulatu's arrangements in Addis.• The embilta, washint and other Ethiopian wind instruments that parallel trumpets, trombones and baritone sax.• The link between African “bush” instruments, mbira/“African piano” traditions, and Western harmonic thinking.• A rare 2018 interview captured at Livingston Studios during the HCB/Mulatu recording sessions.• A live performance of Derashe from the Barbican, featuring Hackney Colliery Band and Mulatu Astatke. Also in this episode, Steve welcomes listeners from the New Scientist Podcast and explores the science–music crossover behind shell acoustics, underwater sound, and the physics of musical evolution. Plus a reminder that the new Origin of the Pieces website now includes full transcripts, an interactive world-map archive of every episode, and a growing library of extras. And don't miss the upcoming Wilton's Music Hall shows on 24th January 2026, including the first ever Origin KIDS matinee at 2pm and the evening performance at 7pm. ⚠️ Note: This is a re-uploadThe original episode was taken down due to a copyright strike on the theme tune — even though I wrote and produced it myself. While I sort that out, you're treated to a gloriously bad placeholder version. Also, I've trimmed down the Clip n Mix segment — I was clearly having too much fun with firepits last time, and it got a bit… indulgent. This one gets to the good stuff faster.
Week 8 delivered a wild scoreboard show highlighted by a heart-stopping Danville 33–31 win over Wapello. The game featured standout performances from Byers Neely, Rowan Atkinson and Eddie Vasquez, chaotic fourth-quarter decisions, critical timeouts and game-ending heroics that decided the playoff picture. On this day in Tudor history, 14th October 1593, Arthur Grey, 14th Baron Grey of Wilton, died at his Buckinghamshire home. He'd served Elizabeth I as a soldier, statesman, and staunch Protestant, but his career left a stain that history has never quite erased. In this episode,I explore the life of the man behind one of the most brutal episodes of Elizabeth's rule, the Smerwick massacre, and ask how such a devout reformer became known for such ruthless acts. From the battlefields of France and Scotland to the rebellion-torn lands of Ireland and the muster fields of Tilbury, Arthur Grey's life reveals both the heroism and harshness of Tudor power. Was he a commander doing his duty, or a man who crossed a moral line in the name of faith and crown? #TudorHistory #ArthurGrey #ElizabethI #Smerwick #TudorIreland #HistoryTok #BritishHistory #OnThisDay #TudorDrama #Reformation

The Real Ambassadors is a poignant tale of cultural exchange, anti-racism, and jazz history. And it's a love story — between life-long husband and wife partners, Iola & Dave Brubeck and their vision for a better world. Appalled by the racist treatment of Black jazz musicians in the United States in the 1950s and 60s, the Brubecks wrote a musical based on the Jazz Ambassadors Program established by President Eisenhower and the US State Department during the Cold War. In an effort to win hearts and minds, jazz musicians were sent out around the world to represent the freedom and creativity of America through their art form. Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie and most of the other Jazz Ambassadors were Black. The irony is that they were treated like royalty around the world, but could not stay in hotels or play in integrated bands in their own country.Performed live only once, at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 1962, the Real Ambassadors featured Louis Armstrong, Carmen McCrae, Dave Brubeck and Lambert Hendricks and Bavan. The musical was a chance for Louis Armstrong to speak out about his deep feelings about racism and segregation in this country — feelings he rarely expressed publicly. The story features original music, rare archival recorded letters sent back and forth between the Brubecks and Louis Armstrong about the project, rehearsal recordings and interviews with Dave and Iola Brubeck. Other voices include: the Brubecks' sons, Chris and Dan Brubeck, Keith Hatschek, author of the book, "The Real Ambassadors,” Ricky Riccardi, Director of Research Collections for the Louis Armstrong House Museum, and singer/actress Yolande Bavan, the last surviving performer involved in the project. Thanks to: Keith Hatschek, Chris Brubeck, Dan Brubeck, Ricky Riccardi, Yolande Bavan, Lisa Cohen, and Wynton Marsalis.Special thanks to: The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation and the Louis Armstrong House Museum; Michael Bellacosa and the Brubeck Collection, Wilton Library, Wilton, Connecticut; The Complete Louis Armstrong Columbia & RCA Victor Studio Sessions 1946-66 Mosaic Records 270; The Milken Family Foundation Archive Oral History Project; and The Library of Congress.Produced by The Kitchen Sisters (Nikki Silva and Davia Nelson) and Brandi Howell in collaboration with Jackson Spenner.
