They're extremely helpful when it comes to reaching our audience, and I read each and every one!Key Quotes & Takeaways:"You can work hard all year bringing in 120 new people over the year, and you'll end the year with pretty much no increase in your member base. Because that 8% churn rate that maybe you don't realize is 8% will mean that you are just hemorrhaging as many members as you're attracting.""People want certainty. People like being sold proven formulas. That's why a lot of dodgy Internet marketers do so well, because they stand up there and say, you know what, I've got this proven formula. You just do this, then this, then this and this and you're guaranteed results. And yeah, that guarantees not worth the paper it's printed on.""We bring you that community, we bring you that accountability, that place that you can go to that is safe for you to vent about that problem member and get a little bit of advice for you to admit, you know what, I'm stuck. I've tried all these things and they have not worked.""But more importantly, you have the room to be in. You have the community that will give you that support network, that will give you the sounding board, that will cheer you on and pick you up, give you their experiences, give you the benefit of their knowledge, share what they're doing and work together to ensure that 2026 doesn't just see one or two of us growing our memberships. 2026 sees us all growing and thriving."

In this episode, Travis sits down with his produce for a fun but pointed breakdown of the “dumbest” money advice that keeps going viral—especially the idea that you can simply save and budget your way to real wealth. The conversation blends sarcasm, listener-style questions, and real numbers to show why the old-school “just cut lattes and max your 401(k)” script no longer works on its own. On this episode we talk about: Why “you can save your way to retirement/wealth” is outdated advice in today's economy How popular personal finance voices lean too hard on small cuts and compound interest examples that top out at barely livable retirement numbers Why your income is the number one lever for building wealth—and why focusing only on cutting expenses keeps you stuck The tradeoff between delayed gratification and actually enjoying life now (family trips, nicer car, real experiences) without wrecking your future How to think like an entrepreneur and ask, “How can I have both?” instead of choosing between a miserable present or a broke future Top 3 Takeaways You can't save your way to your dream life; at some point you must learn how to earn more so you can invest at meaningful levels, not just 100100–200200 dollars a month forever. Cutting expenses and being frugal matters, but obsessing over coupons and $3 decisions will never move the needle like taking your income from 50K50K to 250K250K over time. The real goal is to both fund your future (retirement, investments, freedom) and live a life full of memories now—which requires skill-building, risk, and refusing to accept “this is just my lot in life.” Notable Quotes “Penny saved is just a penny.” “If you don't have the confidence to go earn more money, you're always at the mercy of what other people want to pay you for your time.” “Sacrificing the present for the future is a bad idea—but sacrificing the future for the present is just as bad. You have to learn how to have both.” ✖️✖️✖️✖️
In this episode, Travis brings on his producer to react to a viral Bobby Lee money clip and unpack what it really means to outsource all of your financial thinking to a “money guy.” Together they contrast celebrity-money problems with normal-life money pressures and break down a healthier, more intentional way to manage your finances. On this episode we talk about: Whether Bobby Lee's “I don't know what anything costs, my money guy handles it” strategy is actually smart or quietly dangerous Why celebrities and ultra-high earners can ignore day-to-day prices in a way normal people simply cannot How blind trust in money managers can turn into disaster stories like Dane Cook's embezzlement ordeal The mindset difference between “set it and forget it” and regularly keeping a pulse on your income, spending, and runway Practical habits like weekly account check-ins, building a plan, and using money awareness to fuel your drive to earn more Top 3 Takeaways You can delegate bill paying and investing, but you cannot delegate responsibility; you still need a basic pulse on what you earn, spend, and keep. Totally ignoring your money might feel freeing in the short term, but it massively increases the risk of overspending, lifestyle creep, or even getting stolen from. If you are not already wealthy, you must think about money often—track it, plan around it, and use that clarity to go make more—so you can eventually earn the right not to stress over every dollar. Notable Quotes “There's no way to get to a financial situation like that without thinking about money in some regard along the way.” “If you don't keep a pulse, you're dead.” “Money only solves money problems, but it's easier to solve the rest of your problems with money in the bank—so let's start there.” ✖️✖️✖️✖️
In this episode, host Travis Chappell answers a big-picture question from producer Eric: What is your current investment philosophy—and how has it changed since your first deal? He walks through hard-won lessons from real estate flips, angel bets, crypto, and his own failed startup to explain why most people should stop trying to “beat the market” and focus on boring, compounding plays instead. On this episode we talk about: Travis' early “invest in yourself and real estate” mindset—and what he actually got right from the start How chasing deals he did not fully understand (random startups, friend projects, private loans) mostly went to zero Why even elite angel investors like Jason Calacanis expect the vast majority of deals to fail Dan Fleyshman's rough allocation model: most into low-risk, compounding assets (index funds/blue-chip stocks), a slice into medium-risk plays (like real estate), and a small “home run” bucket for angel/venture-type bets Why Travis now sees the S&P 500 and broad market exposure as a better default than stock-picking or timing trades Regrets about selling real estate too soon and why his rule now is “never sell if humanly possible” How he currently thinks about crypto (Bitcoin/Ethereum-heavy, minimal alt-coins) and why he treats big swings as speculation, not core investing The crucial distinction between investing (long-term, compounding, boring) and speculating (fun, risky, totally optional) Top 3 Takeaways You are probably not going to beat the market. Unless investing is your full-time job, broad, diversified, long-term holdings will almost always outperform your attempts to time or outsmart the market. Real estate rewards patience, not flipping for quick cash. Selling properties early to free up a bit of short-term liquidity often means walking away from six-figure equity decades later. Speculation should be play money only. Crypto punts, angel rounds, and friend-startup checks belong in a small “casino bucket,” not in the same pile as your retirement and financial freedom money. Notable Quotes “If I had just put what I put into random companies into the S&P, it would be about double today instead of almost zero.” “Most people use 100% of their investing for play money—and then get mad when the ‘big swing' goes to zero.” “Time in the market beats timing the market. Put it in, let it ride, and stop trying to be a wizard trader.” ✖️✖️✖️✖️

In this special Episode #138, we bring you clear answers to the top questions our audience has been asking about Workers' Compensation in California. These are the real concerns injured workers are putting on the table in 2025, including mental health and work-related stress, what happens if you quit or are terminated after an injury, and how pre-existing conditions or injuries that develop over time can impact your case. Carmen Ramirez and workers' comp attorney Bilal break down the most important insights to guide you through your case, helping you understand how the system really works, where injured workers often lose money, and how having the right legal guidance can dramatically increase the value of your claim. Takeaways: You generally cannot choose your own doctor for workers' comp injuries in California. Workers' comp benefits include medical treatment and indemnity payments. You have one year to file a claim after your injury. Mental health injuries can qualify for workers' comp benefits under specific conditions. Employers must provide information about workers' comp rights and assist injured employees. Future changes in workers' comp laws may improve benefits for injured workers. Consulting a lawyer can help clarify your rights and options in workers' comp cases. Staying informed about changes in workers' comp laws is crucial for employees. Peter Imburg is the founder and CEO of Elfster, the world's most widely used Secret Santa and gift exchange platform, now serving over 40 million users globally. He bootstrapped the company from a side project in his basement into a profitable, affiliate-driven e‑commerce engine—without taking a dollar of venture capital or angel money. On this episode we talk about: How Peter went from paper routes and grocery bagging to tech consulting and then founding Elfster. The origin story of Elfster and how a frustrating family Secret Santa experience sparked a global platform. Bootstrapping for years without outside funding, including early experiments with sponsorships and brand campaigns. The pivotal shift from seasonal ad deals to an affiliate/e‑commerce model that finally aligned user growth with revenue. What Elfster looks like today: tens of millions of users, hundreds of millions in gross merchandise volume, and a lean global team. Top 3 Takeaways You don't need VC money to build something big; you do need a real problem, relentless iteration, and patience through years of “keeping the lights on.” Business models matter as much as product—Elfster didn't really turn the corner until it aligned its product with an evergreen revenue engine (affiliate commerce) instead of one‑off ad experiments. Long-term success often comes from saying yes to “small” opportunities (like a late‑season campaign) and then spotting the bigger strategic insight hidden inside them. Notable Quotes “There's got to be somebody doing this online…I looked all around, there's nothing.” “For years we were getting enough money to keep the lights on, but user growth didn't translate into revenue growth.” “Once we made the shift, as we grew users, our revenue grew too—that was the pivotal moment.” Connect with Elfster: Website: elfster.com ✖️✖️✖️✖️
Retired Navy Senior Chief Travis Winfield is a bestselling author and the CEO of Military Operated Real Estate (MORE), the first national real estate brand built specifically for service members and veterans. He went from growing up with almost nothing to building a powerhouse six‑agent team that has closed over 700 homes and more than $350 million in sales, and his mission now is to fix the financial literacy crisis holding military families back from real wealth. On this episode we talk about: How Travis went from bad credit, 25% car loans, and debt to building a multi‑million‑dollar real estate business. Why so many service members leave the military in a worse financial position than when they joined. The blended retirement system, why it's dangerous without financial literacy, and what it means for younger service members. How military families can use benefits like the VA loan, GI Bill, and state education programs to build long‑term wealth instead of selling key assets. How MORE and programs like SkillBridge and GI Bill on‑the‑job training help veterans transition into real estate with a real runway instead of starting from zero. Top 3 Takeaways You do not need to start wealthy to build wealth; understanding budgeting, debt payoff, and compound interest is enough to change your financial trajectory. Military benefits like the VA home loan, education benefits, and the new blended retirement plan can be powerful wealth tools—but only if service members actually know they exist and how to use them. Real estate remains one of the strongest paths to long‑term wealth for veterans, especially when combined with VA loan strategies, house hacking, and guided transition programs into the industry. Notable Quotes "Everybody thinks you need to have wealth to build wealth—but you can come from nothing and still build a multi‑million‑dollar business." "Congress basically banked on the lack of financial literacy with the blended retirement; if you don't understand it, you'll choose spending today over security tomorrow." "Every service member deserves to own a piece of the land they defend—hard stop." Producer Eric joins Travis in this episode to break down why creators, podcasters, and business owners do not need millions of followers to build a serious income online. Eric is a veteran content producer and host in his own right, bringing a creator's eye for monetization strategies, niche positioning, and long-term brand building to the conversation. On this episode we talk about: Why a massive audience is not required to make a full-time income as a creator How brands are shifting ad dollars toward small and midsize, niche creators Real examples of niche creators making five figures per month with modest audiences Why CPMs/RPMs vary wildly by niche (finance vs comedy vs generic entertainment) How to think about “blue ocean” opportunities and combining niches like Chiefs + Swifties Top 3 Takeaways You can out-earn much bigger creators by going narrow: a small, high-intent, niche audience often monetizes better than a huge, generic one because sponsors know exactly who they're reaching. Niche, high-ticket categories (brain health gear, vertical farming, audiophile equipment, real estate, finance) command far better ad rates and affiliate payouts than broad entertainment content. The real lever is fit, not fame: if your content solves a specific problem for a clearly defined group—and you either sell something yourself or attract aligned sponsors—you do not need a massive following to build a multi–six or seven-figure business. Notable Quotes "You don't need to have a million subscribers on YouTube to be able to make a full time income from doing YouTube videos." "Some people will have a half a million subscribers and make less than somebody with 15,000 subscribers, because it's in a very broad market that has really low RPMs." "Sometimes niching down means niching up—you can combine two things you care about and create a blue ocean where there's literally no competition." ✖️✖️✖️✖️
Travis and producer Eric dig into an old clip from 2019 where a 27‑year‑old Travis explains why polarizing beliefs and “true fans” are critical for creators and entrepreneurs. Using that as a jumping‑off point, they talk candidly about content, integrity, legacy, and what it means to build an audience your future kids can look up—and cringe—at. On this episode we talk about: Whether Travis still agrees with his past take that 100 “true fans” can fuel a multi‑seven‑figure business The difference between healthy polarization (clear beliefs and opinions) and cheap outrage or political hot‑takes How becoming a parent changed the way Travis thinks about what he says online and the digital footprint his kids will one day see The pressure and temptation to use extreme hooks (“you'll never be a millionaire if…”) versus playing the long game with trust and authenticity Why Travis believes entrepreneurs who refuse to create content will be “left in the dust” over the next decade Top 3 Takeaways You don't need millions of casual followers; a relatively small group of true fans who deeply trust you can support a highly profitable business. Being “polarizing” doesn't require rage‑bait or politics—it means taking clear, defensible stances on ideas you actually believe, even if others disagree. As an entrepreneur, publishing content is no longer optional; showing up consistently online is becoming a baseline requirement for long‑term relevance and opportunity. Notable Quotes “If you talk to everybody, you're talking to nobody—lines in the sand are what turn listeners into true fans.” “If I wouldn't feel in integrity saying it to my kids one day, I'm not going to say it just for clicks.” “If you're refusing to create content as an entrepreneur, you're going to be left in the dust in the next ten years." ✖️✖️✖️✖️

In this conversation, Dr. Lacy discusses the challenges individuals face in writing, particularly the internal barriers of self-doubt and the struggle to recognize one's own expertise. The dialogue emphasizes the importance of self-acceptance and the realization that one is the expert in their own work, which is crucial for overcoming writing obstacles. Takeaways You have the knowledge and experience to write. Self-doubt can hinder your writing process. Recognizing yourself as an expert is essential. External validation cannot replace self-acceptance. Your unique perspective is valuable in writing. Writing is a personal journey of self-discovery. You must define your own narrative. Trust in your abilities to convey your message. Engage with your work to find your voice. Overcoming barriers leads to personal growth. This episode looks at practical ways to pull income from pensions without handing more to Revenue than you need to. You hear how rental income fits into the picture, how a non-earning partner's tax band can save you money, and why timing matters when you've no salary coming in. The chat keeps circling back to one point. Your own setup dictates the smartest drawdown plan. Takeaways • You can pull income from pensions in a planned, tax-efficient way. • Your personal position drives every decision. No two households look the same. • Rental income changes the order in which you tap different pots. • A partner with no taxable income can unlock unused standard-rate band. • Taking modest amounts early can help you avoid chunky tax later. • A quick yearly review keeps you from drifting into higher tax. • State pensions may give you room to delay pension withdrawals. • Mixing income sources often gives you steadier and cleaner results. • Avoiding forced withdrawals in later life protects long-term value. • You worked for it. You should enjoy it.
French-Canadian real estate investor, designer, and developer Natalie Cloutier shares how she and her husband Rob went from broke 20-year-olds in a basement condo to building 50+ rental units and a multimillion-dollar portfolio using a no-money-down build-to-rent strategy. With a background in architectural technology and a focus on new construction, Natalie has turned sweat equity and creative financing into a full-time business, and recently distilled her approach into her book, “The Build-to-Rent Strategy: A Guide to a Successful Rental Property Construction.” On this episode we talk about: How Natalie and Rob built their first home and basement rental suite with essentially $0 down using sweat equity and construction financing The mechanics of build-to-rent/“BRRR 2.0”: Build, Rent, Refinance, Repeat—and how it differs from the traditional BRRR strategy What work they took on themselves vs. what they always hired out (electrical, drywall, finishes vs. structural, foundation, and plumbing) Why they prefer smaller infill projects like six-plexes instead of large, high-risk developments with heavy permitting costs How they manage leverage, cash flow targets per door, and why they're choosing to pause, de-stress, and reassess what “enough” looks like after a decade of grinding Top 3 Takeaways You do not always need 20% down to get into real estate—using construction-to-perm style loans, sweat equity, and smart design, you can create deals by building rather than competing for existing inventory. Staying intentionally underleveraged and focusing on real cash flow per unit is often safer than chasing maximum refinancing or unit count, especially in volatile interest-rate environments. Your portfolio should support your life, not the other way around; periodically pausing to evaluate stress, health, and family priorities is just as important as growing doors or equity. Notable Quotes "We didn't have money, so instead of buying someone else's house, we built our own and used our work as the down payment." "BRRR 2.0 is the same idea as BRRR, but instead of ‘Buy, Renovate, Rent, Refinance, Repeat,' it's ‘Build, Rent, Refinance, Repeat.'" "It's not about how many units you own; it's about how much money those properties actually make and whether the grind is worth it for your life." You need to know what feedback to ask for and what to do with it.""And when they respond, listen, reply, have that conversation, but also take the responses and start creating content from it. We need to survey our outgoing members. We need to ideally have something in place before the cancellation is final, where we ask them why they are no longer staying in the membership and then respond to that before the final decision is made, offer them some alternatives to cancelling, acknowledge any frustrations, show that we care and we want them to stay so it's not just a case of them clicking the button and they're gone."

In this conversation, Dr. Lacy discusses the challenges of imposter syndrome faced by academic writers, particularly those working on dissertations. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing one's own knowledge and capabilities, and how fear can hinder progress. Lacy advocates for making a firm decision to produce work as a way to combat these fears and encourages writers to develop effective strategies for their writing process. Takeaways You know more than enough to write a full draft. Imposter syndrome is rooted in fear and self-doubt. Reading and taking notes won't eliminate imposter syndrome. Making a decision to produce work is crucial. Confronting fears is necessary for progress. Imposter syndrome is a narrative we create for ourselves. Writing is a skill that can be honed over time. Jason Wright is a speaker, author, entrepreneur, real estate investor, and digital marketing architect known for designing intelligent AI agents and automation solutions for business owners. After starting as a teenage lawn care entrepreneur and enduring a tumultuous journey through corporate HR, sales, and safety roles, Jason carved his own path by embracing the ups and downs of self-employment. Today, he runs Intentionally Inspirational, specializing in AI-driven marketing and automation for real estate investors and fellow entrepreneurs, helping them scale efficiently while keeping a sense of humor and authenticity at the forefront. How humble beginnings (mowing lawns for fishing tackle) sparked Jason's entrepreneurial bug—and why he rebelled against the "get a degree, find a boss" script. The struggle of his first business launch, running out of money, and being forced to ask family for support—and why hitting bottom forged business resilience. Pivots through jobs (cars, mortgages, publishing), freelancing on Upwork, and finally building a niche business serving real estate investors with automated marketing solutions. The essential mindset shifts: the world doesn't owe you anything, ego means nothing, and success requires adapting to rejection and uncertainty. Why discipline, over motivation, is key to entrepreneurship—and how the habit of working through difficult periods produces long-term results. Jason's advice for leveraging AI now, niching down, and automating the parts of business that drain your energy. Top 3 Takeaways You must earn your entrepreneurial credibility through setbacks, pivots, and doing the grunt work—even without recognition or immediate financial reward. Automate, outsource, and delegate aggressively; focus only on the work that maximizes your unique value and happiness. Embrace failure as a necessary precursor to growth—your timeline is unpredictable, and your highlight reel will be built on low points. Notable Quotes "The world doesn't owe you anything. Your ego doesn't mean anything in the entrepreneurial world." "Motivation is not required to get things done—even if you're not motivated, do it anyway." "Most business owners overestimate the value of their time, and underestimate the importance of discipline and automation." Connect with Jason Wright: Website: intentionallyinspirational.com ✖️✖️✖️✖️

Send us a textCancer is the second leading cause of death, and while it sparks fear for good reason, 40% of cases are preventable. In this episode, I outline six practical, evidence-based steps that can help reduce your risk.We begin by understanding which cancers are most common based on gender—breast, colon, and lung in women; prostate, colon, and lung in men. While some rare cancers (like pancreatic or ovarian) evoke greater fear, the focus here is on the ones we're more likely to face and can meaningfully act on.Next, I break down risk factors into two categories. Some are unavoidable—your sex, age, or family history. For example, if a close relative had breast or colon cancer, early screening or genetic testing may be warranted. However, only about 5–10% of cancers are directly linked to inherited genetic mutations (American Cancer Society). The more empowering list? Avoidable risk factors—where our actions matter most. Smoking remains the leading modifiable cause of cancer, responsible for about 19% of all cases. Excess weight and obesity account for another 8% and are especially tied to hard-to-treat cancers like pancreatic and ovarian (ScienceDirect) and PubMed). Visceral fat appears more predictive than BMI alone. Alcohol, especially in large quantities, is also linked to liver, GI, and breast cancers. Some risks are cancer-specific. HPV causes nearly all cervical cancers, and melanoma is largely driven by UV exposure. Air pollution, especially particulate matter, may slightly increase lung cancer risk (ASCO Global Oncology).Step three is to act on what you can. Quit smoking, aim for a healthy weight, wear sun protection, and ensure your kids get their routine HPV and Hepatitis B vaccines. Exercise plays a major role too—high activity levels correlate with 10–20% lower risk of several major cancers (JAMA). In colon cancer survivors, regular exercise reduced recurrence by 30% (PubMed).Step four is awareness: don't ignore new symptoms like unexplained bleeding or lumps. Early detection can be life-saving.Step five is screening. If you're 45 or older, colonoscopy is now recommended. Women should get regular mammograms and PAP smears, and individuals with smoking history may benefit from lung CT scans. For rarer cancers with family history, targeted screenings may apply. I also address why whole-body MRIs and liquid biopsies aren't ready for routine use.Step six? Don't put your hope in supplements. Large trials show omega-3s, vitamin D, beta carotene, and vitamin C offer no real protective benefit (NEJM VITAL Study, Meta-analysis on Vitamin C, JNCI on aspirin).Takeaways: You can reduce your cancer risk by modifying lifestyle factors like smoking, weight, and activity. Don't delay screenings—they catch cancers early when treatment is most effective. And remember: no supplement replaces proven preventive strategies.Visit drbobbylivelongandwell.com for more evidence-based tools, and listen to the full episode for actionable steps to help you live long and well.
Every Christian parent’s worst fear is watching their child walk away from the faith. But what if the journey of the prodigal is not the end, but the battleground where God can write a powerful redemption story? In this poignant and hope-filled episode, Catherine tackles one of the most heart-wrenching topics for families: How to battle—and hope—for prodigal children. Whether your own child has strayed, or you’re supporting a loved one through this trial, this conversation delivers comfort, clarity, and a lifeline of practical guidance. Catherine is joined by special guest Laine Lawson Craft, a bestselling author, speaker, and spiritual warrior for parents of prodigals. Lane’s book, The Parent’s Battle Plan: Warfare Strategies to Win Back Your Prodigal is grounded in her raw, personal experience raising three prodigal teens—each with their own struggles, battles, and miraculous moments of deliverance. Key Insights & Takeaways: You are NOT alone. Both Catherine and Lane share how parents of prodigals often experience deep guilt and stigma. Lane candidly recalls her initial panic and shock, but repeatedly urges, “You are not alone.” Trade panic for strategy. The enemy seeks to devour, but parents are not helpless. Lane and Catherine outline a “battle plan” rooted in prayer, surrender, and practical spiritual authority. Guilt does not belong to you. As Lane puts it, “Blaming ourselves only serves to beat ourselves up a little more over things that are not under our control. The other party participating with our children is Satan. If we need to lay blame, that is where it should go.” The battle is spiritual—and winnable. An eye-opening segment breaks down how parents must recognize the true enemy and begin waging war in the spirit, not in the flesh. The authority of a parent in prayer is unmatched. Catherine and Lane both describe the transformative power of praying the Word over your children and exercising God-given parental authority. Lane’s vivid “paintbrush” imagery (covering her children with the blood of Jesus in prayer) is a practical tool for all parents. Surrender is partnership, not defeat. The hardest step—actually handing our children over to the Lord—is where God’s power steps in. Lane poignantly shares, “When our children are hurting...we must surrender them to God in an altar-like place.” This episode is packed with resources, hope, and hard-won wisdom, reminding every listener that God sees every tear and is always working—often behind the scenes—for redemption. If you’re weary or burdened on the prodigal journey, you’ll leave with renewed strength, proven battle strategies, and the knowledge that your prayers matter. About the Guest:Lane Lawson Craft is a bestselling author, speaker, and the creator of The Parent’s Battle Plan: Warfare Strategies to Win Back Your Prodigal. As a mother who fought—and won—the battle for her three children, Lane’s voice is trusted, authentic, and brimming with hope for families facing the heartbreak of a prodigal season. In this episode, Michal gets real about something we all do, especially as christian women: self-sabotage. That's when you block your own blessings because of fear, doubt, or not feeling good enough. She talks about how perfectionism, shame, and old wounds can make you believe lies about yourself—and how God's truth can set you free. Michal also explains how your brain gets stuck in cycles of fear (hello neuroscience
Eric Barstow graduated with an economics degree, seemingly destined for Wall Street. Instead, he stuck with the painting business he started in college—a side hustle that was already generating $110,000 a year while he worked only five to ten hours a week. Realizing the massive opportunity and low competition in the home service space, Eric leaned in. Today, he is the co-founder of National Painting Group, projecting $35 million this year, and runs Painting Business Pro. And guess what? He barely knows how to paint.Eric's entire model proves entrepreneurs don't need trade skills to build a multi-million dollar service business; they need systems. His strategy relies entirely on leveraging subcontractors—a method that fixes profit margins, eliminates liability, and perfectly manages seasonal slowdowns. He reveals his exact tactics for finding reliable subs (including his specific Craigslist and paint store strategies) and shares the "Phase Zero" marketing hustle needed to land your first customers, including his scripts for door-to-door marketing. He details his proven sales process, including how to use price anchoring and specific incentives to close deals on the spot, and breaks down the financial model required to maintain a 20% net profit margin. If you want to build a highly profitable business without ever picking up the tools, this episode is essential listening.Takeaways:- You do not need to be skilled in the trade to build a successful trade business; Eric is an awful painter, but he excels at building marketing, sales, and management systems. - Leveraging subcontractors instead of employees is the most efficient way to scale a service business, as it fixes your margins (fixed price per job), reduces liability, and allows you to scale up or down instantly with seasonal demand.- Find reliable subcontractors by posting ads twice daily in both the "general labor" and "skilled trades" sections of Craigslist, or by approaching painters in unmarked vans at local paint stores.- In "Phase Zero" (getting from $0 to stability), focus only on marketing that generates leads quickly, such as door-to-door sales and lawn signs. Avoid long-term plays like SEO or vehicle wraps.- A highly effective lawn sign strategy is placing them near high-traffic retail areas (like Costco or Whole Foods) on a Friday afternoon, as city workers are unlikely to remove them over the weekend.- Use "price anchoring" in your sales process. Before showing the contract, verbally tell the customer the typical price range for a job their size (e.g., "A house like this is usually about $6,000") to reset their expectations.- Create urgency and close deals on the spot by offering incentives that also benefit your business, such as a small dollar amount discount (never a percentage) if they sign that day or agree to take an urgent open spot on your schedule.- You should aim for a 20% net profit margin. A healthy budget allocates 50% to labor/materials, under 10% to marketing, 6-7% to sales, 6-7% to project management, and 7-8% to overhead.- The market size is irrelevant; success depends on implementation. Eric has clients doing millions in revenue in towns with populations as small as 27,000. - Build the business around your desired lifestyle from day one. By setting firm constraints (like working only 30 hours a week or never on weekends), you force yourself to build efficient systems rather than just working more hours.Tags: Business Skills, Service & Consulting, Subcontracting, Marketing, Home ServiceResources:Grow your business today: https://links.upflip.com/the-business-startup-and-growth-blueprint-podcastConnect with Eric: https://paintingbusinesspro.com/

(A soul-nourishing conversation on intention, transformation, and real inner peace What if peace isn't something you find, but something you practice? In this week's episode of The Robyn Ivy Podcast, I'm joined by author, global peace ambassador, and longtime friend Sid McNairy for a conversation that's as grounding as it is expansive. We open with a short guided meditation, setting the tone for a dialogue rich in wisdom, mystery, and presence. Together, we explore what it means to journey into the far reaches of ourselves and our understanding of the spiritual forces that guide our lives. For many of us that's God, for others the Universe, quantum physics and beyond. We talk about how to work with the unseen with intention, how your relationship with peace can evolve into a spiritual practice, and how accessing true clarity comes from within. Sid shares powerful stories—from his early years coaching football to his near-blindness, DMT experiences, plant medicine journeys, and spiritual awakenings. We talk about his days teaching yoga, winning the World Peace Award and how meditation led him to surrender more fully, trust his intuition, and why stillness isn't weakness—it's a portal. Whether you're a coach, creative, leader, or someone longing for deeper alignment, this episode is packed with soulful insight and practical tools for living on purpose—even in chaotic times.
“I deserve to be adored. I deserve to be cherished. I also deserve to not have to wonder if something is going on. That's my boundary — and that brings me peace.” – Eve, When betrayal shatters your world, the path forward can feel impossible to find. In this deeply moving episode, I sit down with one of my amazing clients, Eve, who bravely shares her journey through infidelity, devastation, and the long road back to herself. Together, we walk through the raw reality of what it's like to reach out for help, set boundaries, and slowly begin to heal. Whether you're in the thick of betrayal or wondering what's possible for you on the other side, Eve's courage will give you hope, clarity, and the reassurance that you are not alone. Top 3 Takeaways: You're not crazy, you're not alone. Hearing another woman's real story can dissolve shame and remind you that your feelings are normal and valid. Boundaries bring peace. Even when the road is messy, clarity around what you will and won't accept sets you free. Healing is built step by step. Small choices and daily practices of self-trust add up to powerful transformation over time. Favorite Quote: “Anytime I think about making a different decision, I don't feel peace. And I always know to go with my peace.” – Eve
Do you feel trapped in a therapy or psychiatry relationship that feels stagnant, unsettling, or just plain wrong? This episode pulls no punches as hosts Gabe Howard — who lives with bipolar disorder — and Dr. Nicole Washington — a board certified psychiatrist — tackle the uncomfortable question most people think about but rarely voice: “How, and when, is it time to part ways with your mental health professional?" This direct and practical conversation cuts through the guilt, the logistics, and the myths about “ghosting” therapists, psychiatrists, and counselors. Dr. Nicole explains when walking away is OK, when to be careful (especially with meds), and why honest communication can actually be beneficial to you as the patient. Gabe brings the patient perspective — what it feels like to doubt care, to fear being “difficult,” and some tips to tell if the problem is the professional, your stage in recovery, or just a bad fit. Takeaways You don't have to explain, but honest conversation is usually the healthier choice. Plan transitions first: “Ghosting” can create dangerous gaps in your care. Ask for records and time your switch to minimize treatment disruption. If you've ever wondered whether you owe the professional an explanation, how to keep medication continuity, or what to ask on day one to avoid a mismatch later — this episode is for you. Expect blunt truth and step-by-step strategies to move on responsibly so your recovery doesn't skip a beat. Our host, Gabe Howard, is an award-winning podcast host, author, and sought-after suicide prevention and mental health speaker, but he wouldn't be any of those things today if he hadn't been committed to a psychiatric hospital in 2003.Gabe also hosts Healthline's Inside Mental Health podcast has appeared in numerous publications, including Bipolar magazine, WebMD, Newsweek, and the Stanford Online Medical Journal.
