POPULARITY
Loosely based on the daring exploits of a ragtag group of soldiers during World War II, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a tale of heroism with a Guy Ritchie spin. The film chronicles Operation Postmaster—in which a battalion led by Gus March-Phillips (Henry Cavill) is sent on an off the books mission to disrupt, ideally destroy, the Nazis U-Boat resupply operation. March-Phillips, played with extraordinary flair by Cavill, is joined by an eclectic group of commandos. Though the subject matter is serious, their personalities allow for plenty of fun, and that levity drives The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. As historically embellished as it may be, this is still a journey through the past well worth taking. Now, sit back, gear up for some sabotage with an Old Speckled Hen from Green King, and do not sing in Yiddish! The Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Chumpzilla, and Bling Blake are prying the nipple clamps off Capt. Cash to free him from Nazi prison! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – Keep calm and Cavill on! (0:00) Lingering Questions – Which of these motley crew members is our respective spirit animal? P&C drink and review Old Speckled Hen, then talk about ACAB. Is the central intent of policing to surveil, terrorize, capture and kill marginalized populations, specifically black folk? There are people in our society who are promoting that view. The media, politicians and similar cretins keep feeding us a narrative that we have an epidemic of white cops killing unarmed black people. Is it true?

In the spirit of Brexit, we are featuring all things "Britten" this month. Kicking off our month featuring the works of Benjamin Britten is his Simple Symphony for string orchestra. We dive into each episode, and top off this podcast with a simple English beer, Old Speckled Hen.
Classic English Style Pale Ale(Description courtesy of Beer Advocate) https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/styles/154/The English Pale Ale can be traced back to the 19th century and the city of Burton-upon-Trent, a place with an abundance of hard water, rich in calcium sulfate. As well as enhancing a beer's hop bitterness, this hard water helps achieve clarity. English Pale Ale can fall anywhere on the color spectrum between golden and reddish amber and should generally have good head retention. A mix of fruity, hoppy, earthy, buttery, and malty aromas and flavors can be found in the sip, not unlike a classic Bitter. Traditionally all ingredients are English in origin.-Color – Gold to Copper-Clarity: Chill haze is acceptable at low temperatures-Perceived Malt Aroma & Flavor: Low to medium malt aroma and flavor is present. Low caramel character is allowable.-Perceived Hop Aroma & Flavor: Earthy and herbal English-variety hop character should be perceived, but may result from the skillful use of hops of other origin.-Perceived Bitterness: Medium-low to medium-high-Body Medium-ABV: 4.4%-5.3%-Glassware: Pint Glass Examples (courtesy of Beer Advocate)(https://www.beeradvocate.com)Old Speckled HenGreene King / Morland BreweryEngland, United KingdomStyle: English Pale AleABV: 5.2%Notes: Old Speckled Hen is popular with ale drinkers up and down the country (England) and renowned for its unique character and consistent quality. The great British ale was first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. It was even named after the factory’s old run around car which was often parked outside the paint shop. Spattered in paint, the car became known as the “Owld Speckl’d Un”. The eagle-eyed might even see the resemblance between MG’s logo and the Old Speckled Hen label!More than 35 years on, the great premium ale continues to be a finely balanced beer with a distinctive rich, malty taste and fruity aroma.DBA (Double Barrel Ale)Firestone Walker Brewing Co., California, USCraft Beer Storm interviewed David Walker on Episode # 50 - Check it out herehttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-50-david-walker-of-firestone-walker-brewing-co/id1438117278?i=1000442533846Style: English Pale AleABV: 5%Notes: DBA—a.k.a. Double Barrel Ale—is the trailblazing flagship beer that started it all for us back in 1996. Partially fermented in our patented Firestone Union oak-¬‐barrel brewing system, DBA quickly took the Central Coast by storm and set the pace for future beers to come. Today, DBA is regarded as a California classic, and stands as an iconic tribute to traditional cask-¬‐fermented English ales. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! This week, in honor of April Fool's Day, the ladies are bringing us their favorite Haunted Hoaxes! So if you thought you could fool us with that white sheet, think again mofo. Vanessa gets things rolling with the tale of Ghostwatch, a War of the Worlds-ish TV show from the BBC which is AMAZING, paired with Britain's own Old Speckled Hen. Then Melissa brings things back stateside with the story of the mesmerizing Fox Sisters and their floor-knockin', toe-snappin' shenanigans, paired with a hoax beer, O'Doul's, which is decidedly NOT AMAZING. Who is better at lying to their people, the Brits or the Yanks? Or does Melissa win for lying to her co-stars and making them drink piss and cheerios? Listen and find out!
Para o episódio de hoje, Renato Martins trouxe uma cerveja típica inglesa e uma das queridinhas da terra da rainha. Confira como foi esse bate-papo.
