This week, SepTIMEber concludes with another charming British time travel rom-com that segues into fam-dram territory before it reaches the finish line. It's 2013's About Time, written and directed by Richard Curtis, and starring Domhnall Gleason, Rachel McAdams, Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, Margot Robbie, Lydia Wilson, Vanessa Kirby and an uncredited Richard E. Grant. It's once again the final Friday of the month, as even this theme month can not stop the inexorable march of time, and Hayley's got the keys to the vault this time around, as she's chosen to nominate a cozy comfort film that's come to mean a great deal to her over the last decade. It's a cute movie with a sharp premise that plays a bit like if Edge of Tomorrow was a romantic comedy -- at least as far as it's interested in being a romantic comedy, anyway. We debate, as always. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening along to our conversation, About Time is not currently available to stream in Canada at the time of publication, but is rentable on YouTube, Cineplex and Amazon. And you can nab it for $5 on DVD at your local Sunrise Records. Other works discussed on this episode include Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Star Trek: Insurrection, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek (2009), Spider-Man: Far From Home, San Andreas, Lost, Super 8, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Arrested Development, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Early Edition, Phantom Thread, Saltburn and Love, Actually..., among others. We'll be back next week to kick off a new theme month as we put SepTIMEber in the past and move on to four weeks of frights, as Spooktober begins with a meeting of the minds from George A. Romero and Stephen King: 1982's Creepshow, which is currently streaming north of the border on Hollywood Suite. The rest of the Spooktober schedule includes 1408, The Birds, and our October canon consideration The Thing! It's gonna be a great month, so come on back, and until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

Acomi and Turk182 decide the best way to celebrate May 4th is by watching a movie that will make you hate May 4th and question the Star Wars universe. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Episode IX. What is there to say about a sequel or trilogy that didn't need to exist? Characters with inordinate potential that is never fully realized, or quickly forgotten. Development that is copy-paste or dropped. Cameos of characters from prior movies used as a gimmick to get the viewer interested, or give credence that this is a good film. Events that are never explained, and should just be accepted. Join Acomi and Turk as they try valiantly to hold their kelvin degree boiling bile in check and not rage at the screen. So incomprehensible it makes the Humanoid look like a true sequel. Let's Watch! Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. WHERE'S REY? Her Star Wars movie is MIA and Hasbro has piles of unsold toys that need to be moved. We talk about the rumors of the Rey movie getting delayed (possibly axed?) and its current status. If Disney were smart (they're not) they'd cancel this one... ➡️ Tip Jar and Fan Support: http://ClownfishSupport.com ➡️ Official Merch Store: http://ShopClownfish.com ➡️ Official Website: http://ClownfishTV.com Additional Context: Recent rumors suggested that the upcoming Rey-focused Star Wars movie, starring Daisy Ridley, was delayed indefinitely. However, these rumors have been refuted by Lucasfilm. According to a Lucasfilm source, reports about the delay of the Rey Skywalker movie are inaccurate. The studio is currently awaiting the latest draft of the script from writer Steven Knight, and the project is moving forward as planned. Disney officially announced the Rey movie, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, at Star Wars Celebration, revealing that it would be set after the events of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" and follow Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order. Steven Knight, known for his work on "The Girl in the Spider's Web" and "All the Light We Cannot See," took over scripting duties after original screenwriters Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson exited the project early last year. Daisy Ridley, who will reprise her role as Rey, expressed excitement about the project in a recent interview, stating that it's a fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world and takes the story in a different direction. Disney has reserved release dates for Star Wars movies that are believed to include the untitled Rey Skywalker movie, alongside other projects like "The Mandalorian & Grogu" and "Dawn of the Jedi". Kylo Ren himself, Adam Driver, has seemingly put an end to the hopes of Reylo making a return in the upcoming Rey Skywalker Star Wars movie. Then we talk about Disney doubling down on more dumb Star Wars ideas. Additional Context: Adam Driver, known for his portrayal of Kylo Ren in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, has confirmed that he will not be returning to the franchise. In an appearance on the Smartless podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes, Driver clarified that while Lucasfilm continues to develop new projects, he will not be involved in them. This statement comes amidst the character Kylo Ren/Ben Solo meeting his end in "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," where he sacrifices himself to save Rey. Consequently, any future appearance of Kylo Ren in "Star Wars" projects would likely necessitate a new actor if the character is to be featured again. Regarding the development of a new Rey movie, there's no indication that Adam Driver's Kylo Ren would be part of this project, especially considering his confirmation of not returning to the role. This aligns with his earlier statements about Kylo Ren's character arc and its conclusion in "The Rise of Skywalker." The discussion of Adam Driver's role and his decision not to return as Kylo Ren sheds light on the direction of the "Star Wars" franchise and its evolution beyond the established characters from the recent trilogy. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released over TWO years ago, and the TLF crew will provide their insight after multiple rewatches and taking in the supplemental novels, comics, and stories! When J.J. Abrams set out to create the last film in the Skywalker Saga, he had the biggest task of completing a journey of films that would hopefully bring a joyous finality to the Star Wars community. The Rise of Skywalker had to answer a multitude of questions regarding the legacy of the Jedi, Rey's origin story, the progression of the First Order while also creating new questions with the Final Order and Sheev Palpatine's motivation to turn both Rey and Ben. The TLF hosts will discuss their thoughts on the movie after having rewatched multiple showings, read novels such as TROS novelization and Shadow of the Sith, and debating with community members on the reasoning behind manipulating both Rey and Ben. May the forth be with you today, on this May 4th! Stormtroopers pose at world premiere of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, in Los Angeles. (AP Photos) Culture critic Maya Phillips has been a major Star Wars fan since she first saw the original trilogy on VHS as a kid. She even has a soft spot for some aspects of the prequels! But as she's gotten older, some of her opinions on the franchise have soured, both when it comes to its politics and the recycling of ideas that has taken place since Disney acquired Star Wars. We speak with Phillips about her connection to Star Wars and whether the franchise can be saved.
