Oh, hi!
Konnichiwa! We're back from Japan and so excited to share our trip to Tokyo Disneyland with you! We did so much in the short day and a half we were there. (The other day and a half were spent at Disney Sea. Stay tuned for that episode next week!) Environment-wise, the Tokyo Disneyland park was like an even cuter, less commercialized version of the American parks. Duffy the Disney Bear is king and Donald is his royal knight...sorry, Mickey, but you deserve a break from all the hard work. Duffy and Donald merchandise are everywhere from headbands to purses to keychains. The setup of the park is similar to Disneyland in California or the Magic Kingdom in Florida, which makes navigating the park a little more intuitive. Language-wise, there are some cast members who speak English, but even those who don't are easy enough to communicate with (for things like ordering food or asking directions) as long as you don't have any special needs. The Japanese are excellent at using emphatic hand signals that really help to convey their points. Ride-wise, Disneyland has some really cool, original rides like Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek! and Pooh's Hunny Hunt (yes, I spelled that correctly). If you ever go to this park, you have to ride Hunny Hunt! The trackless ride system is incredible! The cars weave in and out of each other in near-Broadway-choreographed fashion. Monsters, Inc. is a fun ride that adopts the style of the old shooting gallery: you shoot at a target and the target moves. There are some serious cool animatronics in there, too! Also, a pretty cool experience unique to this park your ability to go into Cinderella Castle to see the dioramas and sit on the royal throne. In addition to these new rides, many of the classics got really fun and interesting upgrades. For example, "it's a small world" not only includes the same animatronics as the American parks, but also includes many familiar faces from the Disney movies. One of the best upgrades to the Japanese parks were the abundance of and quality of shows. Judy and Nick's Jumpin' Splash takes place directly in front of the castle and is a dance party with a (much needed) splash zone! Also, One Man's Dream 2 features many of the Disney characters you know and love dancing and singing to both original songs and songs from the movies. And, of course, the food! Popcorn and popcorn containers were the biggest story in both of the parks. The tins ranged from alien claw machines to Stitch to Steamboat Willie on his boat! Thank you so much for lending us your ears! Tune in next week to hear our experience at Tokyo DisneySea! And as always, interact with us and see some awesome trip photos on our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram.
In this podcast, I visit the Studios. You can check out the audio from the Toy Story Midway Mania ride, and the Muppet Vision show. Also, I talk about One Man's Dream, and give some info about the multiplane camera, which is exhibited there. I love how you can learn a little something while you're having fun. That's cool. Over at Muppetvision, you can check out the old overflow queue, and the attention to detail. The faces on pipes are amazing. And of course, you have to read the signs as you go through! There's some funny stuff buried in them. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message

Unlocking The Magic: Talking all things Disney World and Disneyland
One Man's Dream: Where it all began Walt Disney's One Man's Dream located inside Hollywood Studios, is one of our favorite attractions in all of Walt Disney World. It is incredible to view some of the amazing prototypes that Walt Disney himself created. The short film at the end of the attraction is a documentary of Walt's life and is something that we feel everyone should see. This is the place that completely changed the way we viewed Disney World and where essentially it all began for us... What to Listen For: What is One Man's Dream Why it is so important What you'll find inside Why you may not get to see it Our favorite part of this attraction What this attraction means to us Email us your question or suggestions for future episodes: Info@unlockingthemagic.com Thanks For Listening! WEDway Radio - Walt Disney World and Disneyland Examined with some Disney History
On this episode of WEDWay Radio we take a look at some of the "other" Disney sites around the country that may tell the story of Walt Disney and the Disney company as well. In the last thirty years Disneyland has become not only the worlds premier theme park, but a place filled with nostalgia. It appreciates its past while moving forward with newer and more innovative attractions. Several years after Walt Disney passed away the company began to dedicate space to preserving the legacy of not only the park, but of the man himself. 'The Legacy of Walt Disney' sat at the end of Main Street and the Walt Disney story ran in the Opera House. And, about ten years ago, Walt Disney World began a similar practice. While it had run the Walt Disney Story in its Exposition Center, it hadn't really been a monument to Walt Disney or to the company until 2001 when One Mans Dream, the then temporary exhibit to showcase the 100 years of Magic campaign for Walt Disneys 100th birthday. At some point you have probably considered the circumstances for the major advancements in the life of Walt Disney and of the company. On this episode we take a look at some of these historical sites, including: Marceline, MO Los Angeles and the many homes and studios of Disney Griffith Park and Walts Barn San Francisco for Walt Disney Family Museum Kansas City and the early landmarks Enjoy this episode and Enjoy the holidays
WEDway Radio - Walt Disney World and Disneyland Examined with some Disney History
Matt and Nate go beyond a usual attraction study and take a look at one of the best themed restaurants in Walt Disney World; The 50's Prime Time Cafe. The 50's Prime Time Cafe captures so much of what are nostalgic about when it comes to the 1950's; television, kitschy decor and home cooked food. Listen as we discover the many details and influences that played a role in this amazing restaurant. Also this week we look at the recently released Star Tours 2 video and the renovation of One Mans Dream exhibit/attraction at the Disney Hollywood Studios. Enjoy!
