News: This weekend at South by Southwest, Disney had a panel called “The Future of World-Building at Disney” which gave us a ton of information about upcoming theme park attractions. One of these was the updated experience coming next year to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run. The new adventure will feature the Mandalorian and Grogu, better known as “the child” from the hit Disney+ series. This new experience will take guests to new locations for the attraction, like Cloud City, Tatooine, and the Death Star wreckage. The update will coincide with the premiere of “The Mandalorian and Grogu” movie on May 22, 2026. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/sxsw-2025-new-missions-smugglers-run-mandalorian/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ Also at South by Southwest, Disney gave new details on the Avengers Campus updates at Disneyland. The large e-ticket Avengers Infinity Defense didn't get much new information, but the Stark Flight Lab did! Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark and Iron Man, was present to talk about the upcoming attraction. The attraction will have guests in “gyro-kinetic pods” that will roll on a track before being attached to a giant robotic arm and taken through some high-speed maneuvers. Tranferring the ride vehicle from the track to the robot arm and back again has never been done before. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/sxsw-2025-robert-downey-jr-tony-stark-avengers-campus/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ All of this can be seen in the latest episode of “We Call it Imagineering” on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel. In the latest episode, they talk about the updates we just mentioned, as well as talk with legendary Imagineer Bob Gurr. The episode covers all kinds of ride vehicles from past, present, and into the future. There is even a great behind the curtain look at the underbelly of the Omnimover system at the Haunted Mansion! If you want to take a look at this, check out the link in the show notes. – https://youtu.be/IuQPrGLo0QM?si=Dt9qzvh4bD5xCSUZ Also at the SXSW conference, it was announced that characters from the upcoming Fantastic Four movie will be coming to Tomorrowland. This includes H.E.R.B.I.E. – the flying robot from the upcoming movie. No firm date on when they will land in Tomorrowland, but it is likely around the premiere of the movie on July 25, 2025. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/03/08/disney-announces-new-additions-coming-soon-to-tomorrowland/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ The Disney Parks Blog posted a Guide to the 70th Anniversary at the Disneyland Resort, with some new details for the celebration. The celebration will run May 16th, 2025 through Summer of 2026. It will feature the “Celebrate Happy” theme song, along with nods to other Disneyland tunes. In addition to Paint the Night, which will perform in the evening, “The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” will appear along the parade route during the day. Beating The Heat at Disney World This week, the Gold Key Adventurers Society gathers to share some tips on how to beat the heat while visiting Walt Disney World in Florida during the peak summer season. To avoid the scorching heat, we suggest going to the parks early in the morning and late in the evening, taking breaks during the middle of the day, and spending time at the pool when it's hottest. For those staying overnight or longer, choosing to stay at a Walt Disney World resort hotel can enhance the overall experience by taking advantage of early entry and extended park hours, and hopping between parks to avoid the heat from the hottest ones, such as Animal Kingdom and Epcot. When it comes to seeking ways to escape the heat, we share with listeners the various indoor attractions that provide a good respite. The Magic Kingdom has indoor attractions like PhilharMagic and Enchanted Tales with Belle. In Epcot, indoor options like Living with the Land and The Three Caballeros boat ride are recommended. In Hollywood Studios, the light show at night is beautiful as is Toy Story Midway Mania. We also share our favorite cooling gear for staying comfortable and suggest using handheld fans, lightweight, rechargeable fans, and cooling neck gaiters. We also caution listeners against spending too much on overpriced cooling towels and suggest using a bandana or wet ball cap. Additionally, we share fun facts about the Disney parks, including some history and trivia. We also discuss some of our favorite pools and water attractions in Walt Disney World, including Stormalong Bay and the Big Blue Pool. We even suggest finding rest and respite at pool bars and sit-down meals on the hot days. We emphasize the importance of staying on-site to quickly return to the resort and avoiding traveling off-property during peak season. For those looking to relax and avoid the heat on Florida's hottest summer days, some tips include arranging for preferred parking or utilizing the Skyliner. We also recommend indulging in some treats like Dole Whip or a citrus swirl, and drinks from Trader Sam's, and the pool bars at Riviera and Nomad Lounge. We also discuss an upcoming Indiana Jones movie and share some alternative options for cooling down, taking a humorous note in the popular song and making a funny joke. We close the show with some recommendations for staying hydrated while visiting theme parks and for avoiding heat stroke and dehydration. We suggest bringing water bottles or simply asking for water at quick serve counters. We also discuss drinking electrolyte beverages like Powerade or smart water for salt replenishment. And we remind our listeners that it's important to stay cool and not party too hard during the hot Florida summers, and to take breaks when necessary. So go out there, follow these tips and have a great time at Walt Disney World!     As always, a huge thank you to our sponsor, Key to the World Travel. In this competitive episode, join Alice and Buddy as they jump into the world of interactive rides for the first time in a few years—a world that has grown significantly since the last time they've considered it. How have rides gone Beyond the Shooting Gallery already? How can they continue to grow? What untapped potential is still out there? Where should we look for inspiration? And, perhaps most importantly, how do they see interactivity continuing to be a part of the rides of the future?Heads up, there's plenty of talk in this episode about the imaginary weapons that rides and attractions ask riders to wield and their effects. We don't think there's anything particularly upsetting in here, but those who are sensitive about such talk might appreciate knowing that ahead of time! It's another weekly episode of Those Happy Places! News: Avengers Campus finally opened to the public on Friday. The new area features Pym Test Kitchen, a unique take on different sized meals, Pym Testing Lab, a great place to get a cool beverage, Shwarma Palace, featuring the Avenger's favorite wraps, Terran Treats, with some sweet concoctions, two stores, WEB Suplliers, and Campus Supply Pod, a lot of area meet and greets, and two attractions, the existing Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, and the new WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Attraction. We will talk more in-depth about this experiences as we go through the news. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/now-open-first-recruits-assemble-at-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/cast-and-community-members-among-first-recruits-in-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ Of course the hot ticket on Campus is the new WEB Slingers attraction. This is virtual queue only at the moment, with slots available at 7am and noon each day. There is no standby. Guests that were able to snag a place in the queue can bypass the line to enter Avengers Campus and head in to board the attraction. Reviews are mixed and described the ride as a different version of Toy Story: Midway Mania. Riders use their hands to “shoot webs” at the different objects in the attraction to get a score and help Spider-Man save the Campus from the Spider-Bots, which have gone out of control. – https://www.micechat.com/292046-how-to-score-a-boarding-group-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure/ Pym's Test Kitchen has been pretty well reviewed. Mobile ordering is the primary way to get food at this, and all the other dining locations in Avengers Campus, and has been less than ideal. On opening day, guests could order food when not in the land and could sometimes be allowed in to get their food, while other times being denied access. Over the weekend, they changed the notification so guests had to order in the land only, in addition to adding the order windows throughout the day, instead of only in the morning. The food itself is getting good reviews. The Pym-ini sandwich is reported to taste like a meat-lovers pizza in a sandwich. The Not So Little Chicken Sandwich also got good reviews. For a complete review, check out our link in the show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/full-review-lunch-at-pym-test-kitchen-in-disneys-avengers-campus/ Over at Terran Treats, the two new items are on the menu. The Sweet Spiral Ration, which is a pineapple churro, wrapped into a swirl, and the Cosmic Cream Orb, which is a chocolate cream puff, filled with whipped raspberry cheesecake. The Ration tastes like a Dole Whip mixed with a Churro. The Orb tastes mostly of cheesecake, with a hint of raspberry. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/full-review-terran-treats-at-disneys-avengers-campus/ The Shawarma Palace features breakfast and daytime menus. For breakfast, there is the Impossible Breakfast Sha-warm-up, which features plant based breakfast sausage and egg omelet wrap, with a dairy free American cheese and crispy potato bites, served with maple syrup. The daytime options include the New York's Tastiest, which is a chicken shawarma wrap, with garlic spread, and a coconut yogurt-tahini sauce and pickled vegetables, and then there is the Impossible Victory Falafel, which is a plant based falafel and cauliflower wrap, garlic spread, hummus, and coconut yogurt-tahini sauce, with pickled vegetables. The Disney Food Blog said the Falafel was a little bland, but the Chicken Wrap was great. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/full-review-shawarma-palace-in-disneys-avengers-campus/ Pym Test Kitchen also serves breakfast from opening until 10:45am. Options include Calculated Breakfast, the Ever-expanding Cinna-Pym Toast, the Impossible Quantum Garden Breakfast, and the Spoonful of Cereal. Sides include smoked bacon, turkey bacon, potato bites, or a Cuties mandarin. The Cinna-Pym toast was reviewed well, but the other items were hit and miss. Check out the link in our show notes for the complete review. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/breakfast-review-pym-test-kitchen-at-disneys-avengers-campus/ More dining locations will be open for guests to enjoy! Disney announced that on June 17th, Oga's Cantina, Docking Bay 7, Rancho del Zocalo, The Tiki Juice Bar, and Alien Pizza Planet would be serving guests. Reservations will be available starting on June 14th for Oga's, Lamplight Lounge and Wine Country Trattoria. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/disneys-parks-foodie-news-announcing-new-openings-and-offerings-sebastians-bistro-ohana-wine-country-trattoria-lamplight-lounge-brunch-and-more/ Unlike Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, which was criticized for not having enough atmosphere when it came to sound or interactions in the land, Avengers Campus excels in this regard. Members of the Avengers are out performing around the campus in stunt shows, a practice session, some acrobatic maneuvers, and in a short Dr. Strange show in the Ancient Sanctum. Music from the series is also played throughout the area. – https://www.micechat.com/292046-how-to-score-a-boarding-group-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure/ For those of you who can't make it to the parks to visit Avengers Campus just yet, Walt Disney Imagineers have a solution! In their latest Disney Paper Parks release you can build all of Avengers Campus! The set also includes 13 Marvel characters to decorate the creation. Visit the link in our show notes to download. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/assemble-your-paper-disney-paper-parks-celebrates-the-grand-opening-of-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ Great news for fans of the Disneyland Railroad! The trains are now running from opening to close at Disneyland, and are boarding at all the stations. For the first few weeks that Disneyland was open, staffing shortages resulted in the train only running until 2:30 in the afternoon, and loading at ToonTown station only. – https://www.micechat.com/293761-disneyland-update-happy-holidays-ahead/ In other attractions news, Cast Members for the Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes have been spotted training. This means that this attraction will return to operation soon. No date has been announced by Disney. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/06/photos-cast-members-training-for-reopening-of-davy-crocketts-explorer-canoes-at-disneyland/ As we mentioned previously, there has been a snack shortage at Disneyland in the last couple of weeks, resulting in churros, Mickey pretzels, and chimichangas being unavailable on some days. The good news is that the parks have started receiving orders again, and items are back in stock around the resort. The bread bowls that are famous at the resort have not returned yet, but are expected to as staffing ramps up and more locations reopen for guests. – https://www.micechat.com/293761-disneyland-update-happy-holidays-ahead/ MiceChat had a follow up on the Red Car Trolley charging location at the front of Disney California Adventure. With Avengers Campus at the end of the line, along with the barn for the trolleys, the current route has been modified. The trolley now only runs from the entrance to the park on Buena Vista Street to Hollywood Land and back, resulting in the need for the charging pad at the entrance station. – https://www.micechat.com/293761-disneyland-update-happy-holidays-ahead/ Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen has come up with another new beignet creation. This time, they are covered in Fruity Pebbles, with a blueberry lemon icing. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/03/fruity-pebble-beignets-at-disneyland-sign-us-up/ For those Weeeklyteers that liked The Imagineering Story on Disney+, a new series is coming in July that might interest you. Behind the Attraction will premiere on July 16th (the day that we arrive in Anaheim for our trip), and will have 10 parts. Each episode will cover the behind the scenes of creating an iconic Disney attraction. Topics include the Castles at the parks, the Jungle Cruise, “it's a small world”, the Haunted Mansion, and more. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/go-behind-the-attraction-in-a-new-original-series-coming-to-disney-on-july-16/ Discussion Topic: Devin from Disney Media Finance

News: With June 15th quickly approaching, there are a lot of changes to be aware of with California Theme Parks with the expiration of the Blueprint for a Safer Economy. On June 15th, out of state guests will be allowed at theme parks, vaccine verification will be required, park capacity will not be restricted by the state, this includes shops and restaurants, physical distancing will not be required, indoor shows and queuing can return, masks will still be required indoors and outdoors for theme parks. We will have to wait and see what Disneyland will require. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ Along with all of the other measures that are sure to be changing come June 15th, this next one we know for certain is happening. Disneyland will be discontinuing the temperature checks that are currently in place just before security. – https://t.co/JdJOyPVUyD If you are like we are, and love experiencing the parks at night, then this next announcement will be very good news. Starting July 1st, Disneyland will be open 8am to 10pm, with Main Street remaining open until 11pm, Disney California Adventure will be open 8am to 9pm, and Downtown Disney will generally be open 9am to 11pm. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ Two attractions will also be returning for the first time since the parks reopened. Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters will return on June 26th, and the Matterhorn returns on July 2nd. With the increased capacity, Disneyland can really use all the attractions up and running. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ The last of the Disneyland Resort hotels has an opening date! July 2nd the Disneyland Hotel returns to housing guests that are visiting the resort. Upholstery and fabrics were updated during the closure in the guest rooms, lobbies, and meeting rooms. Beds have been upgraded to allow for more space under the bed for storage, the carpets feature a fireworks design, and the corridor flooring features patterns inspired by Mary Blair art. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/disneyland-hotel-reopens-july-2-book-your-stay-today/ For those just too excited to wait for Avengers Campus to open, you can virtually see inside the new area through the magic of Google Earth! The 3D map of the area was updated before the parks reopened last month and gives us a pretty good view of the inside of the land. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ For a more official look inside Avengers Campus, look no further than the Disneyland App. The map for DCA has been updated to include the new land. There are three entrances to the campus, one from Hollywood Land, one from Cars Land, and the “main” entrance along the parade route. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/first-look-guide-map-for-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ As with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening at the parks, the new Web Slingers attraction will also be part of the virtual queue system. Guests will need to use the Disneyland App to virtually queue for the attraction, as there will not be a standby line. The virtual queue will be available at 7am and 12pm, just like Rise of the Resistance. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure-will-use-virtual-queue-system-similar-to-star-wars-rise-of-the-resistance/ The outdoor waiting area for the Hyperion Theater has been setup for use as seating for Avengers Campus dining. Signage from Pym’s Test Kitchen, as well as some larger than life props really theme this area well. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ Some possibly controversial merchandise is coming to Avengers Campus when it opens on June 4th. Web tech accessories can be purchased in the WEB Suppliers store and then used on the WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure to get special abilities and help get a higher score on the attraction. Some online communities have suggested this makes the attraction a more pay to win experience than a skill based one, like Buzz Lightyear or Toy Story Midway Mania. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/first-look-embrace-your-inner-super-hero-with-avengers-campus-merchandise-including-all-new-web-tech-available-at-disneyland-resort/ Disneyland has begun rolling out composable waste receptacles around the parks. In the areas where this has been rolled out, there are three cans; one for regular trash, one for recyclables like plastic, cans, paper, and glass, and the final can for food waste that can be used to make compost. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/photos-compostable-waste-receptacles-now-in-use-at-disneyland/ Graduates in 2022 will have the option to spend it at Disneyland for the first time since 2019! Disney has announced that Grad Nites will be returning next year for the graduating class. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ To help speed up the long lines at Marceline’s Confectionery in Downtown Disney, a new portable menu is available to guests waiting in line to pick what they are going to buy once they get inside. If any item is sold out, it will be covered by a Mickey head. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen is bringing another awesome beignet creation to dine-in guests, this time in a drink form! The Beignet Flavored cocktail is alcoholic and served with a mini beignet on top, and is available to guests 21 years and older. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/05/22/we-bet-youve-never-had-a-disney-beignet-like-this-before/ Discussion Topic: The Enchanted Tiki Room Disney Fandom – https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Walt_Disney%27s_Enchanted_Tiki_Room AllEars.net – https://allears.net/2019/07/29/why-arent-they-breathing-the-true-story-behind-walt-disneys-enchanted-tiki-room/

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Grant and John head to Disney California Adventure to ride and review Toy Story Midway Mania! Who will come away with the high score? Recorded on August 23, 2019. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we try our luck at the West Coast Version of Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney California Adventure. The Disneyland Resort website describes this attraction saying: Zip through an exhilarating 4D midway-style game starring Toy Story characters—and blast away! There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and Thrill Level describes the attraction as being Dark and Loud.  FastPass is available for this attraction. Before we head to the midway, here are five fast facts about Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney California Adventure. 1. Toy Story Midway Mania opened at Disney California Adventure on June 17, 2008. 2. It has been reported that it cost an estimated $80 Million dollars to design and build and it was the Walt Disney Company’s first use of industrial ethernet for a ride’s control system. 3. The attraction uses more than 150 computers to control guest’s experiences in the attraction. 4. Because the actual games are software controlled, they can be swapped out.  One such change took place on May 21, 2010 when characters from Toy Story 3 were added to the ride. 5. Music for the queue area was arranged and recorded by Jennifer Hammond at Capital records.   Now let’s go see if we can get the high score on Toy Story Midway Mania.  Along for the ride is my arch nemesis on this attraction, John B. deHaas and after we ride we’ll discuss our thoughts on this ride.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we ride Toy Story Midway Mania! His latest project, Mickey and Minnie’s’ Runaway railroad is set to open at Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios next spring (2020) and at Disneyland in Toon Town in 2021. Kevin Rafferty started his Disney career at the bottom washing dishes at the Plaza Inn, but before too long he found himself over at WED assisting the first generation of Imagineers. But Kevin was eager to make his own mark and eventually, as a show writer and developer for Imagineering himself, he would certainly do that. Love the Tower of Terror? That was his idea. Not only that, but Kevin would, over a 40 year career with Disney, go on to write and develop such iconic wonders as Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Test Track, Toy Story Midway Mania, It’s Tough to Be A Bug, Mickey’s Philharmagic, Rockin Roller Coaster and that’s just to name a few. Kevin sits down Nathan to talk about his new autobiography - Magic Journey: My Fantastical Walt Disney Imagineering Career. They also discuss tons of attractions he pitched that never saw the light of day, that time he pulled off a heist to save Disney history with the voice of Mickey Mouse himself Jimmy McDonald, and how he ended up pitching Carsland before he even knew Pixar was making a film about cars. Kevin's new autobiography "Magic Journey" is available all books are sold including Amazon, Disney, and Books-a-Million. New "limited tests" with Toy Story Midway Mania, and with the Be Our Guest Restaurant. What does it all mean? And I talk about ApplePay and its connection to the MagicBands.   Notes: Much of this is speculative, but based on some facts, and I don't claim to have any amazing inside scoop. Its my best guess.   --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message

Also, I talk about One Man's Dream, and give some info about the multiplane camera, which is exhibited there. I love how you can learn a little something while you're having fun. That's cool. Over at Muppetvision, you can check out the old overflow queue, and the attention to detail. The faces on pipes are amazing. And of course, you have to read the signs as you go through! Before the new Disney World Fastpass system you had to race walk to Toy Story Midway Mania or to Star Wars Jedi Training.  Now you can just book these online using the My Disney Experience App. With Disney Fastpass+ you can book your Disney Hollywood Studios in advance.  The Fastpasses are in a tiered system. Disney Hollywood Studios Fastpass Tier 1 Toy Story Midway Mania Rockin Roller coaster The Great Movie Ride Fantasmic The Beauty and the Beast Show Disney Hollywood Studios Fastpass Tier 2   Star Tours Tower of Terror Disney JR Live on stage Frozen Singalong Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular Muppets 3D Voyage of the Little Mermaid You get to pick ONE from Tier 1 and TWO from Tier 2. Fastpass Tip for Disney Hollywood Studios: If you are going on Disney Hollywood Studios the best all family attraction is Toy Story Midway Mania and this is a great fastpass selection. Also, Rockin Roller Coaster does have a single rider line which is a great way to avoid the long line at this attraction. Fantasmic is a nice fastpasss option, but remeber that you can not sign up for any additional fastpasses until you use your 3rd booked fastpass.  So if you have booked Fantasmic as a fastpass you are not able to book more fastpasses until after Fantasmic ends, and then the park is closing.   We are meeting up at Walt Disney World December 3. :) We can't wait to see you so please sign up for the Mouse Chat Meet Up here, It's Free. Calling all fans of Disney, Running, or Inquiring Minds about how much protein to eat. We have the episode for you.  You'll hear all about the MAJOR pixie dust my son William received at Typhoon Lagoon, the best places to run at Disney World, where to eat at DW, what rides you must ride, and the resorts my husband Robert and I recommend.  Becky Kotsifas is back to tell us about her third half marathon this year at Disney, the Disneyland Half Marathon, and compares it to other runDisney races she has run.  Serena Marie, RD,  talks all things protein and then Serena and I discuss our training for the Chicago, NYC, and Philadelphia Marathons. Want to know about how you too can have the gift of running be a part of your lifestyle? Head over to therunninglifestyle.com/join and you'll receive the 11 Strategies to Live the Running Lifestyle. Special thank you to Jeff Galloway and ElliptiGo for getting me ready to run the Chicago, NYC, and Philadelphia Marathons.  ElliptiGo is like a an elliptical machine/bike that you ride outside. It gives you a great runners high (and I mean HIGH) and lets you “run” without the impact! William Gormley ·         How to experience the ultimate pixie dust at Disney World, which is opening a park.  William Gormley shares with you how he was “Big Kahuna” and what that means.  And how you can be Big Kahuna someday. Robert Gormley ·         What resorts to stay at and running around the Boardwalk, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom (don't do it!), and Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter ·         New restaurants we tried  ·         The restaurant which is the best value when it comes to Crab Legs ·         The number one tip when eating at Be Our Gust ·         Favorite restaurants we go to every time ·         What dessert NOT TO MISS at Boma ·         What rides not to miss at the parks ·         What great tips we received from The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger and Len Testa. The big takeaways when it comes to the interviews with William and Robert Gormley is that you need to get to a park early, if you want to be able to open it.  We strongly recommend running at the Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter Resorts.   Some restaurants not to miss are Cape May Cafe, Be Our Guest, Boma, Sanaa, California Grill, Wolf Gang Puck Express, and Narcoose's. Our favorite rides include Kilimanjaro Safari, Expedition Everest, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Toy Story Midway Mania, Soarin, and Test Track. We booked directly with Disney World this trip.   When we don't go through the Disney World Reservations to book our trip, we have been very happy and satisfied with David's Vacation Club Rentals.  Through David's service, we have been able to pay a moderate hotel's price, but stay at Deluxe Resorts including Bay Lake Tower, Beach Club, Animal Kingdom Kidani Village (with a savannah view) and the Boardwalk Resort.  Every time we have requested a certain type of room, David's team has been able to come through for us (thank you!). Becky Kotsifas  ·         Discusses her year of Run Disney - Princess Half, Tinkerbell Half, Disneyland Half, and Wine and Dine Half ·         The special medals Becky has received for running multiple races ·         Celebrating the 10 year Anniversary of runDisney ·         Highlights of the Disneyland Half Marathon ·         The signs along the course ·         The breakdown of men vs. women in the Disneyland Half ·         Why the Wine and Dine Half Marathon is a favorite among many people Serena Marie, RD,  ·         Why you need protein even if you're not lifting a lot of weights ·         Serena's explanation of how much protein a runner needs & how to do it ·         How to estimate your protein needs depending on your running distance and goals ·         How to estimate a portion of protein if you are a man or woman ·         Where to go for a list grams of protein in foods ·         What are great sources of protein   The big take-aways from our talk with Serena are to know how much protein you need based on your goals, weight, and distance.  If you're training for for 5ks/10ks or recreational running aim for ~1 gram of protein per kilogram.  If you're training for  marathons should aim for ~1.2-1.4 gm/kg protein. If you're training for endurance events in conjunction to heavy strength training regimen ideally aim for ~1.6-1.7 gm/kg. Go to https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/eat/fd_exch.htm (which is actually a site through the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, but refers to the American Dietetic Association food exchanges) to get a list of how much protein is in a serving. You can estimate protein by looking at your palm.  If you're a woman, your palm can be estimated to be a 4-5 ounce portion of high biological value protein (meat, fish, eggs). If you're a man, your palm will represent 5-6 ounces of high biological value protein. Each ounce of animal protein has 6 grams of protein.   Please say a prayer, send positive intentions, that Serena's knee gets better. Another way to support our efforts is to donate to Team Kari and Serena Run NYC and Chicago for Action for Healthy Kids.  Every dollar makes a difference in helping a child eat healthier foods and move their bodies. Next week we're going to hear from Dr. Vinny Kripalu, MD, an internist who practices an integrated medical approach and is a fellow marathoner.  Please subscribe to the podcast through iTunes, Stitcher, or whatever podcast app you use.  You never know when a surprise episode comes up and by subscribing, you won't miss it. :-)

The Louisville Cardinals are rolling in the NCAA tournament. And even more exciting, today we’re putting the down payment on our first Disney cruise. That’s right it’s going to happen, the whole family is getting together for my dad’s birthday at the end of January. We’ve decided on a 4-day cruise on the Magic through the Caribbean. Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. Thank you for tuning in once again. I am Lou Mongello, coming to you this and every week bringing you the very best ways to enjoy and enhance your Walt Disney World vacation experience. This is show #67 for the week of May 18, 2008. This week's show is going to be just a little bit different from my normal show, as I just returned from Walt Disney World, where I was visiting to cover the new Toy Story Midway Mania attraction press event. So this show is going to be focused on the new E-Ticket attraction opening in Disney's Hollywood Studios later this month. I will first take a look at the event and attraction with Glenn Whelan, as we discuss everything from the new Pixar Studios area of the park, to the incredibly detailed queue and interactive ride experience. It's a spoiler-free review and preview of what Guests can look forward to enjoying for many years to come. Meg Crofton, President of the Walt Disney World Resort, also spoke about what is happening not just at the Studios, but around the Resort, and will share that audio with you as well I met with TC and Kerri, the two Walt Disney World Ambassadors, as they share their thoughts about Disney's newest attraction I had the opportunity to interview a number of Imagineers who worked on the attraction, including Senior Show Producer Chrissie Allen, Senior Concept Writer Kevin Rafferty, Senior Show Producer Laurie Coltrin, and Vice President of Disney's Hollywood Studios Rilous Carter. I'll share audio with their thoughts on the attraction, as well as those of authors Simon and Sharon Veness from a Brit's Guide to Walt Disney World, after experiencing the attraction for the first time. I'll also have an announcement about a new project I've been working on for some time now, so sit back, relax and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. Talk about the show by visiting and posting in the WDW Radio Show message forums at DisneyWorldTrivia.com. Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!
