This week, Len Testa and Jim Hill dig into one of the strangest goofs in Disney history—how the restaurant inside Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom was originally named after the wrong king, and why it took over two decades (and a flood of guest complaints) to finally correct it. What Your Hoodie Says About Your Style—and How to Upgrade Your Look

When it comes to versatile, stylish and practical clothing, few things can compete with the ever-popular hoodie. And if you're a traveler — especially someone who frequents magical destinations like Disney parks or other unforgettable places — graphic hoodies are more than just a cozy staple, they're an essential part of your travel wardrobe. Wardrobe Game-Changer: Nine Reasons Why Graphic Hoodies are the Ultimate Style HackWhy a Collection of Graphic Hoodies in Your Wardrobe is Better than OneThe nine things you haven't considered when it comes to the humble hoodieWhile owning one graphic hoodie might seem like it's enough, let's look at why having a small collection of graphic hoodies is not just a fashion statement, but also a very functional and fun way to enhance your vacation style and comfort.1. Style That Matches the Mood and DestinationDisney travelers in particular know that your outfit should reflect the magic of your day, whether it's strolling down Main Street, hopping on your favorite ride, or capturing Instagram-worthy moments in front of Cinderella Castle. Each hoodie in your collection should tell a different story.Having a hoodie collection means you can:Rotate hoodies to match the mood or theme of your day (perfect for Disney parks or other destinations where each area has its own vibe).Pair a hoodie with different outfits for fresh looks, whether it's a travel morning at the airport or an evening watching fireworks by the castle.Stay comfortable in varying weather conditions—hoodies layer well with jackets in colder climates or provide just the right amount of warmth during a breezy evening.Having multiple options ensures you're always dressed for the occasion while staying comfortable.2. Functionality for Every Kind of WeatherGraphic hoodies are the ultimate travel companion because they're versatile. With a hoodie collection, you can really cover all bases:Lightweight hoodies are perfect for warmer days or layering during chilly mornings.Fleece-lined hoodies keep you cozy during colder months or in overly air-conditioned shops, buses or planes.Oversized hoodies offer a relaxed fit for long travel days or lounging at your hotel.Even in a light rain or the start of a rain shower, a hoodie is a great item to have—pull up the hood and head for cover.By ensuring your wardrobe has different hoodie types and styles, you'll always have the perfect hoodie for the forecast, no matter where your adventures take you.3. Practicality Meets PersonalityYour wardrobe reflects your personality and a variety of hoodies lets you showcase different facets of who you are. Whether you're channeling your inner magic or proudly sporting designs inspired by your favorite travel destinations, your collection can serve as a wearable scrapbook of your passions and adventures.Plus, graphic hoodies are conversation starters. A fellow Disney traveler might notice your subtle Disney hoodie and strike up a conversation, making your travels even more memorable.4. Stay Fresh on Long TripsLet's face it—travel can be messy. From the inevitable coffee spill on a flight, to dripping ice cream in the heat of a ride line, having just one hoodie on hand isn't always practical. A collection of unique hoodies allows you to rotate through styles, so you always look (and feel) fresh without overloading your suitcase.5. Collect Memories, Not Just HoodiesMany graphic hoodies are designed to commemorate experiences or are inspired by events or activities. A hoodie purchased to celebrate your first park visit, another from a beloved travel destination, and one featuring your favorite travel mantra can all serve as keepsakes. Over time, your collection becomes a reflection of your journeys and the memories you've made.6. Practically Perfect for TravelersTravelers know the importance of packing wisely. Graphic hoodies serve as the ultimate travel companion for several reasons:Versatility: They work for multiple occasions, from a morning coffee run to an adventurous theme park day.Cozy for transit: Whether you're on a plane, train or bus, a hoodie doubles as an extra layer or even a makeshift pillow.Photogenic: Hoodies with unique designs make your travel photos pop, ensuring your memories are as stylish as they are magical. When you own a collection of several different hoodies, you'll always have a hoodie ready for your next adventure, perfectly suited to the destination and experience.7. Versatility Beyond TravelFor the record, your hoodies don't have to stay in the suitcase. They're just as perfect for running errands at home, grabbing coffee with friends, or relaxing with a beverage and snacks to watch a movie. A collection of hoodies ensures you're not always grabbing the same hoodie, which keeps your wardrobe fresh and fun.8. A Hoodie for Every MemoryDo you attach sentimental value to any pieces of clothing? A collection of graphic hoodies allows you to attach sentimental value to each one. One hoodie might remind you of your first visit to Disneyland, while another brings back memories of a whirlwind European trip. Each design tells a story, and over time, your collection becomes a wearable memory wall of your adventures. And the best part? You can relive those memories every time you slip one on, whether you're lounging at home or exploring a new destination.9. A Hoodie for Every Member of the FamilyIf you're traveling with friends or family, coordinating hoodies can be a fun way to add a little magic to your adventure. Matching tees are one thing, but picture your group sporting matching Disney-inspired hoodies or each person. They don't have to be all the same, but within the same theme or color. It's a fun, easy way to bring the travel party together and stand out in classic vacation photos.Ready to Build Your Hoodie Collection?A single graphic hoodie is great, but a collection? That's where the magic truly happens. With multiple options from graphics to color, you'll never be stuck with a single look or vibe. A historic first, "BRAT" used in the sense of 52D, 2024 Charli XCX album with a lime green color -- as opposed to all the 179 previous times, when it was a reference to an annoying small child. The rest of the crossword, by Parker Higgins, was similarly entertaining, as evidenced by clues such as 69A, Nose-in-the-air-type?, PLANE; 52D, Give in on Christmas Eve, say, PEEK; and 10D, One of 27 on Disney World's Cinderella Castle, TURRET. A bravura performance, definitely worth 5 squares on the JAMCR scale.Show note imagery: Charles Perrault, author of Tales of Mother GooseWe love feedback! The Five Best Places for Fashion Outfit Photos at Walt Disney World

If you want to take great photos of your Disney outfits at Walt Disney World, there are five great spots that will consistently deliver exceptional photos for your social media feed or personal photo album. Want to be Disney fashion influencer? Here's how to get started with great Disney style photos. The Five Best Photo Spots at Walt Disney World to Show Off an Outfit What to Consider to Get the Best Photos of Your Disney Outfits at Disney WorldThe best time for photos under natural light is first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon (which generally will provide softer golden lighting. Overcast days and shaded areas are also great for providing picture perfect diffused and muted light. So if you are serious about getting a great photo for your social feed or to become a fashion/style influencer, get to your photo spot first thing in the morning. This will provide the best lighting and the lowest crowds. By going early, the lower crowds mean that, at worst, you can use AI great to remove one or two errant people in the photo. But beyond one or two people, it can get trickier. Unless you are going for the blurred crowd effect (which is something to try if you find yourself in that situation). Focal length, aperture and the distance to your subject can all affect how the final photo turns out. Plus, for scenic views you need to consider whether the background will be busy or uniform, and whether it will be blurred or more in focus. All of this makes a difference in your final photo. You can adjust much of this in post production using apps, but the more that you consider up front, the less work you will have to do later. Five of the Best Outdoor Scenic Photo Locations for Disney Style 1. Cinderella Castle As a classic icon, Cinderella Castle has several vantage points that are perfect for unique and stylized fashion shots. This does not include the standard head-on shot from Main Street (where the PhotoPass photographers are positioned). Look for a unique angle on either side of the castle, with some good spots towards the back.  2. Grand Floridian Resort Disney's Grand Floridian Resort offers a ton of first rate outdoor photo spots. From sprawling green lawns, to great florals and tropical gardens, to beach photos and backgrounds of Seven Seas Lagoon, you can always find a great photo spot here. Of course, the white and red color palette of the majestic buildings are also picture perfect. 3. Disney Boardwalk The Walt Disney World Boardwalk has a number of options for unique and interesting fashion and style photos. From benches on the wooden boardwalk, to vistas of the Crescent Lake and the Yacht and Beach Club hotels in the distance, you will have the potential to get a ton of great shots here. If you are looking for that magical late afternoon golden hour sunlight, the Boardwalk area is perfect for that photo-friendly natural lighting. 4. EPCOT: Morocco Pavilion, France Pavilion, By the fence around to World Showcase LagoonWhile EPCOT has no shortage of first-rate photo opp locations for fashion and style photos, there are two or three that stand out as top picks to explore. At the very back of the Morocco Pavilion, you will find a wonderful location with great lighting, interesting backdrops and few crowds. Nearby in the France Pavilion is another great area where you can capture some fashion and style photos featuring the charm of old Europe. For the France area, you will need to go early in the day for the optimal nature light and the lowest crowds. Also in EPCOT, the blue water of World Showcase Lagoon can make a nice blurred background. Finding a location along the black iron rails next to the water can make for some excellent photos, assuming you time it right with the sun low in the sky or on an overcast day.  5. Animal Kingdom: Harambe Marketplace area, Animal Kingdom (Fichwa Fellow Wall, with Mickey Mouse, You are Most Beautiful wall) Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park, the Harambe Marketplace are is filled with colorful backdrops and unique textures that can make for some excellent photo opps. The great thing about this area is that unlike some of the other popular Disney photo wall locations (which don't have enough room to create distance between the camera, subject and backdrop), the Harambe area provides the perfect opportunity to set up for some great fashion photos. Planning Your Disney Fashion Photos in Advance is Worth the Effort Putting some thought into the photos before you take them will make a difference in the end result. If you are aiming to get some like-worthy fashion photos for your Instagram or social feed, then the extra effort and thought will pay off.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Tony Nominee Liz Larsen (BEAUTIFUL, HAIRSPRAY, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, STARMITES) joins David to share her love of the Disney Parks, specifically "Soarin'," "it's a small world," and the movie MULAN. When Liz was 19 she finally got to go to Disneyland for the first time and shares her memories from that trip, including going on "it's a small world" which she describes as "life changing." Many of Liz's Disney stories revolve around family, watching the movies with them and falling more in love with the characters, and an epic trip in 2005 for five days to Walt Disney World, battling the Florida weather and two small kids (and what happened after a family meal at Cinderella Castle). Liz's love for Disney is infectious, especially when she talks about the attractions and movies in the Disney universe that speaks to her. No "E-Ticket to Broadway" episode would be complete without mentioning Dopey, but this time it's the guest who brings up the Seven Dwarfs, specifically how she wants to be just like them when she's older. WDW Radio # 746 - How Disneyland's Origins Have Impacted Walt Disney World - From the WDW Radio Archives With Walt Disney World's anniversary coming up on October 1... and this incredible sense of nostalgia and sentiment I have been feeling lately... it prompted my idea for this week's visit to the Archives, and this past week's LIVE show. Thank you for tuning in and being part of our WDW Radio LIVE show on Wed Sept. 20 where we boarded the Wayback Machine and took a trip down Walt Disney World's Memory Lane! We dove into some Disney nostalgia as we share memories of days gone by in Walt Disney World, and I shared a number of vintage photos from the parks... and me back in the 70's... and we all shared attractions, shows, resorts, and of course food that we remember and miss. You can watch the replay and be part of the community and conversation by going to WDWRadio.com/Video). And that got me to thinking about the origins of Walt Disney World... and inspirations. So this week, we're going back to Show # 179 from early 2010, because Walt Disney World traces much of its roots to the original Disneyland in California, and with Walt Disney World's anniversary coming up, it's only appropriate that we take a look at how some of Disneyland's origins have impacted Walt Disney World. Jim Korkis joined me to share some of the true stories behind the stories, as we start in Fantasyland with Cinderella Castle and look back at exactly how and where Disneyland began. And Jim shared not just stories that have never been told before, but Walt's own words that served as the proposal for what would be come Disneyland, and includes many amazing ideas that carried forward to become what we see today in Walt Disney World. Share your thoughts in the WDW Radio Clubhouse at WDWRadio.com/Clubhouse, or call the voicemail at 407-900-9391 (WDW1) and share your story on the show. But for now... sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode from the Archives on the WDW Radio show. ---------------------------------- WDWRadio.com - Visit the site and blog WDWRadio.com/Clubhouse - Join the community and conversation on Facebook WDWRadioNATION - Get monthly rewards, and help support the show WDWRadioLIVE.com - Watch and chat LIVE Wednesdays at 7:30pm ET WDWRadio.com/Podcasts - Show notes, past episodes, links, and photos WDWRadio.com/Events - WDW Radio Disney meets, events, cruises, and more!
