No Compromise Radio-Always Biblical, Always Provocative, Always In That Order. Pastor Mike talks about funerals on today's episode. What do you do as a Christian when there is a death in the family? If someone dies that you know, or that you know the family of, what do you do? How do you rearrange your life in order to minister to their family? People are afraid of the dead. Pastor Mike gives advice on what to do during wakes and funerals. Do not leave your kids at home when you go to the wake or funeral. Death and experiencing death is a part of life. Go to the wake or funeral as a family. Death is a reminder and it helps make the lessons stick. On the way to the funeral coach you kids on what to say and do. Death is very ugly and gross. Sin entered the world because of the fall; and as a result there is death. It is okay and good to cry at a funeral. It is holy to feel sadness just as Jesus did. You need to preach the Gospel to your kids. Start early and show them what death is like. If there is a death you need to cancel what you are doing. Even though you are busy you are supposed to love others. Only Jesus Christ, only God, can take someone who is dead and say get up and they will get up; God has power over death. You cannot raise a body from the dead. When you look at the body, you need to be prepared to die. You need to have your sins forgiven. Our bodies will die, but our spirits will live on forever in bliss (Heaven) or torment (Hell). Go and love your neighbor as yourself. If there is a death in the church family you ought to drop everything and go. If in a public place give them a big hug and say, I love you. Today there are many denominations and many people who call themselves Christians that take a similar view. They say the Bible contains truth, or it teaches truth, or portions of it are true. But they deny the veracity of miracles, the resurrection, Mosaic authorship, patriarchal lineages, etc. What is the orthodox Christian to do? Toss in the towel? Leave it to the experts? NO! Christians need to talk to the doubters and explain why the Bible is TRUE—every jot and tittle of it. Indeed, the Bible is not only “True”, it is “Truth” (John 17:17).

Session 1 at the 2016 Freedom Conference in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Immanuel Baptist Church hosted Bojidar Marinov as featured speaker. In this opening session, we begin to talk about the prevalent, but greatly mistaken, interpretation of Romans 13:1-7 that would have Christians yield unqualified obedience to even the worst of civil states. Marinov shows that, in its historical context (specifically, the pagan concept of “oneness of being,” which animated the Roman empire,) Paul's words in that passage are actually revolutionary, and not merely in the sense of “innovative.” They are revolutionary in the sense of “seditious,” and they spelled the eventual end of that beastly empire.

Gordan Runyan reads his essay on 1 Peter 2:13-17, a passage that Christian statists often use to insist upon meticulous obedience to civil government. How likely is it that the Apostle who escaped from prison twice and boldly declared, “We must obey God rather than man,” would then urge his fellow believers to show unqualified obedience to wicked rulers? Turns out — not so much, really.

In this episode we take on 1 Peter 4:7-19 as we discuss what it means to be the Church of the Living God in the midst of conflict and disagreement of different areas of doctrine and the work of the Church.

Trust and respect to the younger generation, therefore, is a sign of blessedness, and a sign of God's favor on a society. Distrust, on the other hand, is a sign of God's curse. And while it is often a temptation for the older generation to blame the younger generation for their real or imaginary faults, the reality is the sin and blame always lie with the older generation. The Luke 12:48 principle – to whom much is given, much shall be required of him – so well forgotten in our modern American culture, applies to parents and children as well: Parents carry the responsibility for any conflict of generations and any distrust. So, is Islam taking over Europe? Or the world? The answer is, it isn't. It is in retreat on all fronts. It has failed to create a civilization to challenge Christendom, or even the apostate humanist Western civilization that still carries a lot of its historical Christian cultural legacy. It has failed to produce individual purpose and personal maturity and productivity – and without purpose and maturity Islam can not produce the type of man needed to build a civilization. Islam needs Christianity to survive – and every time it rebels against Christianity it only sinks deeper and deeper in the drain of history, and loses more and more ground to that very Christianity it rebels against. Islam cannot produce any of the advances of the Western civilization – whether technological or social or political or psychological. The reactions of some radical groups against Christianity are simply the agony of a dying animal; the more violent those reactions are, the more energy is lost, and the nearer its death is. A few terrorists are not a cultural threat; and when we fret about those few terrorists, we are only declaring our own weakness and fear. But in reality, there is no reason for fear. And there is no reason for statist solutions and government enforced security and endless wars in the Middle East. A period of peace and evangelism will bring about the death of Islam faster than any government programs or defenses. The future, as Paul said in 1 Cor. 3:21-22, belongs to Christianity.
