The Nerds reign in the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts by looking back at 2007's Transformers!

After the huge success of the first film, a sequel was released and saw Michael Bay return as director as well as Shia LaBouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson & John Turturro. A few newcomers join in such as Ramon Rodriguez, Isabel Lucas, John Benjamin Hickey & Rainn Wilson. In this film, Sam Witwicky is warned by the Autobots of an imminent threat in the form the creator of the Decepticons, known as “The Fallen”. To save Earth, Sam must locate (yet again) another artifact from Cybertron that was lost on Earth. Despite this film being the 4th highest grossing film of the year, it received negative reviews for being overlong and lacking a plot. It won the “Razzie” for Worst Picture.

I make it a point not to apologize for things I put out into the world but this episode didn't go great. There is nothing memorable on the soundtrack so the intro/outro is garbage. Neil was having trouble with his recording gear. Very little of the plot of this film is memorable. BUT we had a great time hanging out and talking about the final film of the LaBeouf/Transformers Universe. John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Ken Jeong, Leonard Nimoy, and Buzz Aldrin. Is this a fever dream? A totally bonkers cast of folks are smashed into 2 and a half hours of Bay Explosion Chaos. Sam Witwicky is trying to find a job after meeting Obama and getting an Ivy League education. The Decepticons are trying to find a way to revive Cybertron since they won the battle but the planet was destroyed. The Autobots are trying to find a way to get the US Government to trust them. The US Government is trying to find a way to control the Autobots. Nothing is going to go the way anybody thinks it will. Well he regretted that decision basically immediately after watching just one of the franchise.  Let this be a lesson to you. Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher discuss the last of the Sam Witwicky trilogy of live-action Transformers flicks, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Chicago, a mustached robot, and sliding down buildings collide in another overlong entry of the Transformers series. Sam (Shia LaBeouf) is a young man looking for a job in the big city, but the Transformers have other plans on their mind. The evil Decepticons are trying to transport their homeworld of Cybertron into Earth through the use of space transportation, pilars, and gumption. The Autobots can't let that happen, so they once again pull Sam away from his responsibilities to help them plan a counterattack. Director Michael Bay adds better action, a slightly more coherent story, and a real sense of spectacle to the proceedings this time around, but it's starting to feel long in the tooth.  Mat picked up the Back to the Future: 30th Anniversary video game on sale simply because Tom Wilson reprises his role as Biff Tannen; in the original release of this graphic adventure, a soundalike was used. Thrasher found Justice League to be an adequate time at the movies. Both of them discuss the recent rumblings of a Disney-Fox merger that looks like it shall come to pass.
