We really have given our life to the Lord and are just trusting the path," McCarthy noted about her union with Wahlberg, whom she married in 2014. Wahlberg recognized the need to truly surrender to faith, sharing, "'I have to give my life to him now,'" and felt assured by McCarthy's supportive response: "'Of course.'"Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Hey Heal Squad! Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg is back! And this time, we're going deep into her health journey. For years, Jenny was brushing off symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, and chronic pain…thinking it was stress, hormones, or just life. But it turns out, something much bigger was going on beneath the surface: mold toxicity. Today, Jenny reveals how it was finally discovered (hint: her intense dental journey led her there), how it spiraled into affecting multiple systems in her body, and why nothing was healing the way it should. She walks us through how she connected the dots, what she's doing now to heal, and the symptoms we should never ignore. We also get into some of the more advanced detox protocols she's trying, like EBOO therapy to filter toxins from the blood, hyperbaric chambers, and even starting a heavy metal detox. This conversation is a reminder that if you're not getting answers, you may need to keep digging. And yes…we also get into beauty. Jenny shares the real reason she created her brand Formless Beauty, why she's so intentional (and slow) about launching products, and what she hopes the brand becomes in the future. Bonus for the Heal Squad! Jenny is giving you 10% off, check below for the code! And don't forget to catch Jenny this week on the Season FINALE of The Masked Singer! HEALERS & HEAL LINERS Don't stop at surface-level answers. If something feels off, keep digging: You can be doing everything right, and still not heal. Jenny's turning point came when she and her doctors realized something deeper (mold toxicity + hidden infections) was blocking her body's ability to recover. Hidden toxins can quietly drive major health issues: From infected root canals to mold exposure to environmental toxins, Jenny's story shows how things you can't see can impact everything like immune function, brain health, pain, fatigue, even healing capacity. Hey Heal Squad! Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg is back!! We know how much you all love her, and we're so excited she returned for a special edition of Maria's favorite segment…What Worked This Week! And let's just say…Jenny had A LOT to share. From how local honey has been helping her allergies, to how faith has become more powerful for her than ever before (she calls them her Jesus timeouts!),this episode is packed with her real-life tools that are actually working for her right now. Jenny also gives us a peek into her brand, Formless Beauty, and what's new, plus she opens up about her latest wellness go-to: peptides! Jenny tells Maria what she's currently using, and why she believes it's so important to work with a doctor when incorporating them. Plus, Jenny shares one of her favorite ways to reset her nervous system and manage anxiety…something we love here on Heal Squad: EMDR! Friends, this is the kind of conversation that will make you love Jenny even more. And don't forget, catch Jenny this week on the finale of The Masked Singer! HEALERS & HEAL LINERS Peptides can be powerful for healing, but only when used correctly: Peptides have made a real difference for her, especially for things like gut health and mitochondria (energy production). But the key is to use properly prescribed peptides, not just jumping on a trend. Your nervous system is the foundation of healing: One of the biggest themes was that your body can't fully heal if your nervous system is dysregulated. Whether it's walking, EMDR, or simple daily resets, calming the body is essential. Don't underestimate simple, consistent tools: From local honey helping allergies to prayer easing anxiety, Jenny shared that some of the most effective things aren't complicated. Medieval Brittany, with all its contradictions and complexities, comes alive in Meg Wahlberg's Chivalry in the Shadows (Parkwood Manor Press, 2024). The author has studied and taught medieval literature, and it shows in her richly imagined descriptions of a world long lost, ruled by assumptions and obligations very different from our own. But however evocative of the time and place in which it is set, Chivalry in the Shadows (Parkwood Manor Press, 2024) goes far beyond standard descriptions of the Middle Ages. Its heroine, Rowen, and her twin brother, Roland, would have to have been born in each other's bodies to fit neatly into their society. Rowen will gladly fight for the woman she loves, whereas Roland would rather abandon chivalry altogether for music—to the great disgust of their father, determined to see both his children honor the traditions that have defined his life. How the twins negotiate the gap between their individual strengths and the expectations placed upon them, you will have to read the novel to find out. Meg Wahlberg specializes in medieval literature, which she teaches at Rowan University. Excavating the lives of marginalized and forgotten individuals, she writes fiction that reconstructs the stories that history has underrepresented. Chivalry in the Shadows is her debut novel. C. P. Lesley is the author of two historical fiction series set during the childhood of Ivan the Terrible and four other novels, including The Merchant's Tale, co-written with P. K. Adams. Send us a textWe Own the NightFor Season 16 Episode 5, TGTPTU dives deep into what writer-director James Gray considers the conclusion of his NYC crime trilogy WE OWN THE NIGHT (2007) while also starting the first of two planned sizzurp episodes with host Ken sick and sipping on some strong cold medicine. And joining this top to the third temporal pincer™️ pairing is special guest and inveterate bookworm Shannon. For his third film, and second time being booed at Cannes (Harvey Scissorhands' cut of The Yards being the occasion for his first), Gray after seven years in development had his first financial success with his unique, untrademarked combination of family drama, crime, and Greek tragedy. Together again but reversing roles from The Yards, Mark Wahlberg plays supporting as Cpt Joe Grusinsky while Joaquin Phoenix takes the lead as night club manager Bobby Green/Grusinsky. That slash becomes important as Bobby has adopted his dead mother's surname prior to the start of the movie to distance himself from his brother Joe and their Deputy Chief cop daddy Burt Grusinsky, played by Robert Duvall. When Brother Captain Joe's pursuit of a drug smuggler leads to his family being targeted by the Russian Mob who are also owners of Bobby's club and his surrogate family, Bobby's different last name comes in handy as he goes undercover for the po-po. Oh, and it's a period piece occurring in the late-80s set in NYC, so cover those squares on your Gray bingo card. This ep, guest Shannon bumps on overwritten cop dialogue culled from Gray's NYPD ride-alongs; former co-host Jack weighs in off-mic on Gray's best use of CGI for rain during the car chase scene; Ryan suggests this is the last Phoenix role before he became too fussy, and Ken suggests it's the last of Wahlberg actually being interesting while effectively suppressing a cough; Ryan questions the merits of the temporal pincer movement being applied to Gray's filmography; and Thomas considers it his favorite Gray film of the five he's watched. “These movies are not made for audiences.” - Steve, on DTS titles like this On our first episode of 2026 we're chatting about the direct-to-streaming, holiday-set sequel, The Family Plan 2! Why can't Wahlberg be icing dudes in this movie? Beyond that great Michael Bay doc that hasn't come out yet, are we still doing parkour in movies? Should Mark just start doing PVOD Secret Movies? How much of a boost does the on-location shooting give you? Does Kit Harington's character have an actual plan beyond the vague “power” dream? Why are we cramming Christmas into this film? And doesn't Michelle Monaghan deserve better than this? PLUS: The Transformers get down with some parkour too! The Family Plan 2 stars Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, Reda Elazouar, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Sanjeev Baskar, and Kit Harington as Finn Clarke; directed by Simon Cellan Jones.
Stefani Berkin, president of R New York, stops by to share why the end of the year can be a great time to buy or sell a home. Also, NBC's Anne Thompson visits a Massachusetts boxing gym where physical activity is helping Parkinson's patients improve balance, coordination, and confidence beyond traditional medicine. Plus, Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan drop in to talk about “The Family Plan 2”, where their family takes a chaotic adventure through Paris. And, supermodel Kathy Ireland reflects on her Sports Illustrated debut and the magazine's legacy in the new documentary “Beyond the Gaze: Julie Campbell's Swimsuit Issue.” Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. In a year when there were many good films, but few that really were incredible, Martin Scorsese was the big winner at the Oscars ... and for the first time in his career. He finally won Best Director for his gang film about deception, loyalty, and even rats. The Departed is one hell of a ride. A great script, incredible performances by an A-list cast, and memorable scenes make this a truly special film. However, looking back almost two decades, did the Academy get it right? Was it deserving of the Best Picture prize?Listen to film critic Jack Ferdman's take on it as he analyzes everything about The Departed, as well as many other films from that year, and hear which film he gives his Rewatch Oscar of 2006.Download, listen, and share ALL Rewatching Oscar episodes.SUBSCRIBE and FOLLOW Rewatching Oscar:Website: https://rewatchingoscar.buzzsprout.comApple Podcasts/iTunesSpotifyGoogle PodcastsiHeart RadioPodchaserPodcast AddictTuneInAlexaAmazon Overcasts Podcast Addict Player FMRSS Feed: https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1815964.rssWebsite: https://rewatchingoscar.buzzsprout.comSocial Media Links: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, BlueSkyShare your thoughts and suggestions with us through:Facebook Messenger or email us atjack@rewatchingoscar.com or jackferdman@gmail.comMusic by TurpacShow Producer: Jack FerdmanPodcast Logo Design: Jack FerdmanMovie (audio) trailer courtesy of MovieClips Classic TrailersMovie (audio) clips courtesy of YouTubeSupport us by downloading, sharing, and giving us a 5-star Rating. This week Andrew and Ted sit down to discuss this Mark Wahlberg starring streaming original feature by Prime Video. Parker (Wahlberg) is a professional high end thief with his marks and potential scores being a little bigger and classier (if that is even a thing when it comes to robbing) than your average bank heist. In "Play Dirty", Wahlberg and his team knock over a horse racing track but things go south when they have an unexpected visitor while exiting the heist and then things go even further south when one of his crew members double crosses the team by killing all but one (Parker) and keeps the cash from the track heist all for themselves. Parker now has to track that person down, recover the cash, and make his long-time partner's wife (played by Gretchen Mol) whole after he was murdered by this turncoat. Tune into to find out what Andrew and Ted thought of this action / drama feature.
Mark Wahlberg once again plays... Mark Wahlberg. Same tough-guy attitude, same expression, same one-liners gun and leather jacket. This movie tries to be gritty but ends up feeling painfully unrealistic, flat, and uninspired. The chemistry between the leads can't save a plot that feels like it was stolen from every mid-tier heist action flick in the last decade. If you've seen one these Wahlberg action comedy movies, you've basically seen this one. #PlayDirty #MovieReview #MarkWahlberg #LaKeithStanfield #ActionMovie #MovieCritic #BoringMovies #UninspiredCinema #HollywoodRecycle #FilmReview

2. The Lost Bus (Paul Greengrass, mit Matthew McConaughey) Basierend auf wahren Ereignissen schildert der Film die dramatische Rettung einer Schulklasse während des verheerenden „Camp Fire“ in Kalifornien 2018. Busfahrer Kevin McKay (McConaughey) und Lehrerin Mary Ludwig (America Ferrera) kämpfen ums Überleben, während die Flammen alles verschlingen. Ein intensives Katastrophendrama mit dokumentarischem Realismus. 3. Play Dirty (Shane Black, mit Mark Wahlberg) Der Heist-Thriller basiert auf den berühmten Parker-Romanen von Donald E. Westlake. Wahlberg spielt den eiskalten Profi-Dieb Parker, der nach Verrat und blutiger Abrechnung den größten Coup seines Lebens plant – und dabei gegen die New Yorker Mafia antreten muss. Düster, actiongeladen und kompromisslos. 4. SchleFaz: Zombie Shark Trash-Fans aufgepasst: In der neuesten Ausgabe von Die schlechtesten Filme aller Zeiten nehmen Oliver Kalkofe und Peter Rütten den Syfy-Horror Zombie Shark – The Swimming Dead auseinander. It is a packed week of reviews on the show with Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy, an even dozen in fact. They include one of the best documentaries of the year (Predators) and a film as bad as The Substance is good (Shell). Steve looks at Daniel Day-Lewis' return to the big screen (Anemone) while Erik looks at a charming family film about competitive pumpkin gardening (Grow). It's also October so that must mean horror. So there's another terror-filled tale about double-booking (Bone Lake) as well as the family that must barricade at home for the terror outside (Coyotes). There's a scary film from the POV of a canine (Good Boy) and another in the long-running anthology series (V/H/S Halloween). Cillian Murphy works at a home for trouble youth (Steve) and Matthew McConaughey tries to save children from one of the worst wildfires in history (The Lost Bus). Mark Wahlberg takes on a character played by the likes of Lee Marvin, Mel Gibson and Jason Statham in the latest from Shane Black (Play Dirty) and Wahlberg's Pain and Gain co-star, Dwayne Johnson, plays one of the early stars of MMA fighting (The Smashing Machine).(NOTE: Apologies for some of the audio quality this week. The underworld is crowded with thieves, but Parker has always stood apart. Created by Donald Westlake in the early 1960s, the character has been portrayed on screen by actors including Lee Marvin, Mel Gibson, and Jason Statham. He's a blunt-force professional who isn't Bond, isn't Batman, but something rougher, hungrier, and coded by his own ruthless blue-collar sense of order. With "Play Dirty," filmmaker Shane Black takes his own crack at Parker, bringing the character to Prime Video on October 1 and casting Mark Wahlberg in the role. The film follows Parker, a ruthless thief, and his expert crew who stumble onto the heist of a lifetime that pits them against the New York mob. The film also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Rosa Salazar, Keegan-Michael Key, Nat Wolff, and more. This version doesn't come with gadgets or acrobatics. Black describes a Parker who thinks fast, hits harder, and feels closer to the blue-collar world than to the spy fantasy. It's the kind of material that lets him indulge his taste for pulp grit, sly humor, and the holiday backdrop he's made famous. But it also opens the door to some bigger questions: what draws audiences to men this uncompromising? How do you make crime fun without sanding off the edges? And what happens when you cast Wahlberg instead of Robert Downey Jr.?READ MORE: ‘All Of You': Brett Goldstein On Love, The Science of Soulmates, ‘Shrinking' Surprises, & ‘Ted Lasso' [The Discourse Podcast]Writer/Director Shane Black joins The Discourse to talk about the journey of bringing his Parker film to the screen, which started all the way back during the making of Black's first film, “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” in 2005. When asked what itch hadn't been scratched by earlier adaptations, Black pointed to Parker's uniqueness. “Each one represents the era in which it was produced. 'Point Blank' with Lee Marvin is a very specific film for that time period. And each actor who's played Parker from there on, like Robert Duvall, Jason Statham, and Mel Gibson in "Payback." There has been a history of incarnations of this powerful, relentless character. But he's not James Bond, which is why I liked him. He's sort of blue collar. It's almost like an American entrepreneur's story. But he happens to be a really awful, bad person and a criminal anti-hero.”

From its crude and uneasy beginnings thirty years ago, Chinese sperm banking has become a routine part of China's pervasive and restrictive reproductive complex. Today, there are sperm banks in each of China's twenty-two provinces, the biggest of which screen some three thousand to four thousand potential donors each year. Given the estimated one to two million azoospermic men--those who are unable to produce their own sperm--the demand remains insatiable. China's twenty-two sperm banks cannot keep up, spurring sperm bank directors to publicly lament chronic shortages and even warn of a national ‘sperm crisis' (jingzi weiji). Ayo Wahlberg book Good Quality: The Routinization of Sperm Banking in China (U California Press, 2018) explores the issues behind the crisis, including declining sperm quality in the country due to environmental pollution, as well as a chronic national shortage of donors. In doing so, Wahlberg outlines the specific style of Chinese sperm banking that has emerged, shaped by the particular cultural, juridical, economic and social configurations that make up China's restrictive reproductive complex. Good Quality shows how this high-throughput style shapes the ways in which men experience donation and how sperm is made available to couples who can afford it. Are you tired of being told to “think outside the box?”Well, if you are, I have good news: today's show is about thinking inside thebox. It's about looking at structures as a series of boxes, determining which box has theactive fire in it, and how to attack that fire. Boxes determine flow path inlarge modern residential structures. It's an interesting idea, and it was developed for the Plano, Texas fire departmentby Eric Wahlberg, a 30-year veteran of Fire/Rescue and an assistantchief. He is also a Master Firefighter with the state of Texas.
"Mark WahlTURD & the Yucky Bunch" concludes, as the singer-turned-actor-turned-business-mogul and his frequent collaborator, director Peter Berg, leave behind the growing unpredictability of theatrical box office for the apparent comfort and safety (and big paydays) of the streaming world. But even there, you're not entirely safe from the perils of a failed franchise starter, as you'll hear when we discuss 2020's Spenser Confidential, the cinematic adaptation of a popular series of detective novels which already enjoyed some filmed success in the TV world in previous years. So why wasn't this later made-for-the-small-screen effort able to hook audiences in the same way? And, perhaps more importantly, does that even matter to Wahlberg, as his career and interests have shifted in new directions? Join us for our first ever look at a streaming-exclusive movie! And, as always, stay pray'd up. Our Twitter Our Facebook Our Instagram Our YouTube Trev's Letterboxd Chris' Letterboxd
The third installment of "Mark WahlTURD & the Yucky Bunch" jumps ahead 15 years to 2018, where Mark Wahlberg, now very much a movie star, is looking to team up with director Peter Berg, his recent favorite collaborator, for a new espionage action thriller. But it's a rocky road to get there, as the movie in question was originally developed as a potential star vehicle for a totally different performer. Why did Mile 22 evolve into something else entirely? How did Wahlberg's "James Silva" go from supporting role to main character? What is a "gauntlet movie," and does Mile 22 fit the definition? And, most importantly, is the movie any good, and did it deserve sequels? We discuss all this, and more! Our Twitter Our Facebook Our Instagram Our YouTube Trev's Letterboxd Chris' Letterboxd
"Mark WahlTURD & the Yucky Bunch" rolls along into 2003, when a much-in-need-of-a-comeback Mark Wahlberg decided to hop on the then popular trend of remaking classic '60s heist movies, with a modern update of the beloved Michael Caine crime caper The Italian Job. Here, Wahlberg and a crew of fellow eccentric thieves (a "funky bunch," if you will) seek to pull off a heist as revenge against a former compatriot who has done them wrong. The movie's action scenes undeniably started a Mini Cooper popularity boom, but what about the rest of the movie? Is it as sexy as The Thomas Crown Affair? Is it as cool as Ocean's Eleven? Why did one of its stars hate being in it? And, most importantly for our theme, did it reignite Wahlberg's flailing movie star career? We discuss all this, and more! Here at Failure to Franchise, we don't like making fun of actors. So trust us when we say our new theme, “Mark WalhTURD and the Yucky Bunch,” dedicated to four failed franchise starters from Boston rapper-turned-actor Mark Wahlberg, is, uh, a tribute. First up, 2001's Planet of the Apes remake, which was meant to be Wahlberg's first foray into mega-blockbuster leading man territory. Helmed by beloved Hollywood weirdo Tim Burton, and featuring incredible makeup effects by Rick Baker, the film seemed like a can't-miss attempt to reboot the classic sci-fi franchise. Instead, it left the series in need of another reboot attempt a decade later. What went wrong? We're here to figure it out!
