Step into the DeLorean with hosts Krissy Lenz and Nathan Blackwell as they revisit the mind-bending 1989 sequel Back to the Future Part II. This zany time-traveling adventure pushes Marty McFly and Doc Brown to their limits as they navigate multiple timelines, alternate realities, and a dystopian version of Hill Valley ruled by the villainous Biff Tannen. The hosts dive deep into how Back to the Future Part II differs from its predecessor, noting its darker tone and more complex narrative structure. They explore how the film effectively splits into three distinct sections: the retro-futuristic 2015 sequence, the nightmarish alternate 1985, and the return to 1955 that cleverly interweaves with events from the first film. Nathan shares his initial disappointment with the sequel upon its 1989 release, while Krissy maintains her longtime love for its imaginative storytelling.Special praise is given to the performances, particularly Thomas F. Wilson's versatility in playing multiple versions of Biff Tannen and Lea Thompson's range as various incarnations of Lorraine. The hosts also discuss how the film introduced many viewers to concepts like the multiverse and alternate timelines through Doc Brown's simple yet effective explanation of the space-time continuum.Other topics covered:The film's prescient portrayal of Biff as a Trump-like figure in the alternate 1985The extensive merchandising campaign, including Pizza Hut's promotional sunglassesChristopher Lloyd's ageless performance as Doc BrownHow the film serves as part one of a larger story concluding in Back to the Future Part IIIThe practical effects and set design used to transform Hill Valley across different time periodsThe controversial addition of Marty's "chicken" character flawThe enduring appeal of the film's retro-futuristic 2015 aestheticThe Universal Studios clock tower set and its various iterationsWhile rating the film, Nathan gives it a 7.5 out of 10 sports almanacs, noting how his appreciation has grown over time, while Krissy awards it a solid 9, placing it just below the perfect 10s she gives to parts one and three. The hosts conclude that while Part II may be the most divisive entry in the trilogy, its ambitious storytelling and creative world-building have helped it age into a unique and essential chapter in the Back to the Future saga. --We couldn't do this without your support of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast! Well, we are back with our most popular episode for Post-Credits, the Survivor episode! This episode is TV show characters vs movie characters! Now, I have been told that over the years, my Survivor episodes have been getting well…long (like several hours). I get it, you are busy so I have come up with a great solution! I feel that some people would only prefer the speculation and others would only want the game play so I have decided to split the episodes so I present…the speculation! This is also a historic season because I have figured out (with my wife's help) that it is not hard at all to put in the attributes to the characters so it is somewhat accurate! This way, it is as accurate as I can make it! What will Biff Tannen's role in the tribe be? Will anyone flip? How will Redemption Island help or hurt then? How will Mable Mora help the tribe? Well if you want to know what I think, listen on! If you only care about how it shakes out, then wait for the next one. If you care about both…well…then listen and GET HYYYPPPEEDD! He's opened for such comedic luminaries as the late great Joan Rivers and Dave Chapelle as well as many others. We talk about how Paul got his start in the business, what it was like to work with those legends, the effects of cancel culture on the industry, and whether or not we're in a "comedy boom". And finally Paul tells the story of working a college gig that got over shadowed by a build-a-bear workshop next door; and the story of a working-the-crowd assist from Back To The Future's Biff Tannen. Uncommon Ambience: At the Movies, Back to the Future 2. This episode takes place in an alternate timeline: Biff 1985. Where we will enjoy the sullen symphony of carnage, lust, and poor life choices just outside the Biff Tannen Pleasure Paradise Hotel And Casino. It's a doozy. Minus Sammy Hagar. Also, minus bullets and explosions. There were plenty in Biff 1985; there's also plenty in our modern world. So I left out the ordinances. IE: don't worry about any hidden jump scares or Principal Strickland catching up with his drive-by "slackers" in hour seven. This episode involves everything else outside of Biff's Pleasure Paradise: motorcycles, dogs, helicopters, police, and people doing dubious sh!t. It's a wild scene from one of the wildest second acts in a movie I can think of. In the film, we return from a Jetson-esque 2015 to a nightmarish 1985 that culminates with Marty jumping off the roof of the Pleasure Palace. Here's the thing about Back to the Future 2. We left on an electrifying cliffhanger thinking we might have to wait another half-decade for the sequel to return to theaters (we didn't have smartphones or the web). I was pissed... but with time BTTF2 became my favorite of the series. Erp. Look, I know Back to the Future heads aren't Star Wars or Rush people… Even still I don't want to get into email exchanges about how I'm not respecting a competent Western hidden in a sci-fi story. Or a "but BTTF is the most complete story" ... Or some other movie review pretending to be a wine-ass review talking about notes of earth and tobacco in the finish. Instead, here are the best fruit flavors by candy: strawberry - Starburst lime - Mike n Ike cherry - Bottlecaps apple - Jolly Rancher orange - Skittles grape - Sweetarts banana - Runts lemon - Lemonheads blue raspberry - Fun Dip

Accusations we tempted the Footy Gods with our overconfidence are unfounded. They tipped Freo by fence panels. Sadly, it's time to somehow Restump Podcast whatever Saturday night was.If anyone said they saw Saturday night's performance and result coming, they're lying. Biff Tannen armed with his Grays Sports Almanac handbook wouldn't have bet on West Coast in that game. We thought we weren't that club any more. The team that unexpectedly puts in the most bizarre and inexplicable performance. After Saturday night, it is difficult to suggest we aren't.Admittedly without Freddy, without Switta, without Coxy and without Amiss we were somewhat undermanned against, really, as full strength an outfit West Coast are likely to have for some time. But it wasn't who was and wasn't out there, it was how we did or rather didn't go about it.We should have gone into this game five and zero, or at least four and one. Where was the resulting fire? Where was the anger of the two weeks in South Australia that we should have unleashed on West Coast? To the Eagle's credit they brought and delivered what we didn't. They monstered us, they intimidated us, they verballed and niggled us and we allowed them to do so. Harley Reid is a jet. He's a generational talent and freakish for his age and experience. But while that is the case, he's a 19 year old kid in his 6th AFL game and we allowed him to physically and verbally bully us!   We weren't clean with the ball, individually we rapidly descended into self-preservation mode and seemingly, or consequentially, our footy intelligence decreased. We repeatedly made terrible decisions; we were more often than not, standoffish and we were simply destroyed by a team with a substantially greater appetite. Maybe the extended Gather Round trip had a far greater detrimental impact than we all know? Maybe the compound effect of the Gather Round trip and the loss of Freddy, Switta and Amiss exposed our depth? In all reality we've been winning games off the back of our defence. We did raise the point that if they had a rare down day we'd be picked off. Still, no one thought that would be enough to see what the Eagles did to us.We've now destroyed the early work we did setting up our season and at three and three we've lost our advantage. We're back to the pack, run of the mill and fighting for survival! Are we fighting though? That remains to be seen this week against the Dogs. Some drown their sorrows with alcohol, others choose to comfort eat. For the latter, it would have been a great week to win the Mi Casa Property Boutique metres gained competition and tuck into the $50 of 2Bros foods. Deb Albrecht did just that and we hope she remembers that sharing is caring!I feel like we've got so many more questions than answers. So, let's see if Jojo can even up the ledger and give us a few answers and provide us some direction in life. This was a really tough one to take as the result and performance was all on us, not umpires and not freak circumstances.Apparently, a problem shared is a problem halved so join us on the pod as we all need to band together and do a shedload of sharing.Support the show

Time travel and time slips are some of my favorite topics. This week I will tell you about a few stories I have come across. People Claimed to Be Real-Life Time Travelers 1) Charlotte Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain In 1911, Charlotte Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain, who met just prior to working together at the all-female St. Hugh's College in Oxford and shared an interest in spiritualism, released a book that caused a sensation. An Adventure detailed an experience they'd shared while visiting the Palace of Versailles in 1901. While wandering the extensive gardens around the Petit Trianon, they suddenly began encountering people dressed in 18th-century outfits, including a women who strongly resembled Marie Antoinette. Had they encountered ghosts—or slipped back in time somehow? Though they went with the latter for their book, which purported to “prove” their experience by researching and corroborating what they'd seen with historical records, skeptics tended to believe a third option: That the authors of the book (written under pseudonyms; their true identities were revealed after their deaths) had made the whole thing up. Still, their reputations as respected academics did make other people wonder if maybe they had witnessed something way out of the ordinary.   2) John Titor This story has its origins with oddball late-night radio host Art Bell—which should be an immediate red flag—and expanded to include internet message boards circa the late 1990s and early 2000s. It was never clear if the man who made contact with Bell (via fax) was the same as the man who later took to the internet and built a cult following. You can read more about Titor's story in the feature below, but the basics are: Titor first popped up in 1998, claiming he was from a parallel timeline where time travel was invented in 2034 by General Electric. In 2001, he explained his mission was to collect a vintage computer from 1975, needing it to debug computers back in 2036. His “predictions” about the future mostly failed to come true (like the second American Civil War, circa 2013), and sleuthing around the Titor phenomenon turned up at least one person (not a time traveler) who seemed the likely source of the hoax. But no amount of debunking can take away the weird and amazing details of this story; it's one of the earliest instances of internet folklore, and still one of its most fascinating.   4) Andrew Carlssin It's true that “Andrew Carlssin” may not have actually ever existed, but he dwelled in the imaginations of real people for a brief moment after an article from the (reliably amusing) Weekly World News accidentally went mainstream. Snopes.com has a reprint of the original article, which read in part:     Federal investigators have arrested an enigmatic Wall Street wiz on insider-trading charges — and incredibly, he claims to be a time-traveler from the year 2256!     Sources at the Security and Exchange Commission confirm that 44-year-old Andrew Carlssin offered the bizarre explanation for his uncanny success in the stock market after being led off in handcuffs on January 28. Though actual SEC representatives were quick to point out the entire story was, ah, complete and total balderdash, it caught on because it made a certain kind of freaky sense. See, John Titor had a high-concept reason for traveling back in time to get that vintage computer... but Carlssin? He was just capitalizing on what he knew about the future to play the stock market and get filthy rich, just like Back to the Future's Biff Tannen and his sports scores. Snopes notes that the Weekly World News published a follow-up a month later, reporting that Carlssin had jumped bail, never to be seen again, either in the paper or in reality. 5) “Noah” Late last year, several British tabloids gleefully reported on “Noah,” a man who claimed to be from the future, having arrived in our time using technology that was invented in 2003 but not declassified until 2028. A YouTube video on the Paranoid Elite channel—where you can view a variety of other “time-traveler” videos (though Noah's is the most popular by far) as well as exposés on mermaids, aliens, and other mysteries of the unknown—was Noah's chosen platform. His revelations were mostly pretty boring (the return of a better Google Glass! Self-driving cars are totally a thing! Trump will be re-elected!), but there's something decidedly unsettling about his blurred-out performance

Due to the use of excessive force in arresting a sexual predator, Detective Lt. Jericho "Action" Jackson (Carl Weathers) is demoted to police sergeant. What's worse, the father of the man he roughed up, Detroit industrialist Peter Dellaplane (Craig T. Nelson), declares war on Jackson, framing him for the murder of his own wife, Patrice (Sharon Stone). But Jericho manages to elude arrest and, with the help of a drug-addicted singer named Sydney (Vanity), goes after Dellaplane. Today on Buzzn The Tower we answer the question that no one was asking; what if you gave Dillon from Predator, gave him a badge, and made him a street cop? So sick back relax and enjoy an hour of us talking about Action Jackson, the single greatest Detroit police officer next to Axel Foley. Released in 1985, "Back to the Future" directed by Robert Zemeckis, is a timeless science-fiction adventure that has captivated audiences for decades. Combining humour, thrilling action, and a clever time-traveling concept, this film has become a beloved classic. With its unforgettable characters, iconic moments, and seamless storytelling, "Back to the Future" has solidified its place in cinematic history."Back to the Future" follows the journey of Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), a teenager who accidentally travels back in time from 1985 to 1955 in a DeLorean time machine invented by the eccentric Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd). Marty must find a way to ensure his parents' meeting and subsequent relationship to save his own existence. However, he faces numerous obstacles, including dealing with the younger versions of his parents and avoiding the dangerous Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson). The film's time-traveling concept is brilliantly executed, exploring the potential consequences of altering the past and the importance of embracing one's own destiny. The characters in "Back to the Future" are one of its greatest strengths. Michael J. Fox delivers a charismatic performance as Marty McFly, bringing both vulnerability and a rebellious spirit to the role. Christopher Lloyd shines as the eccentric Dr. Emmett Brown, with his wild hair and infectious energy. The chemistry between Fox and Lloyd is palpable, making their partnership on screen a joy to watch.Lea Thompson and Crispin Glover portray Marty's parents, Lorraine and George, respectively. Wilson's portrayal of the antagonist, Biff Tannen, is memorable, creating a character that is equal parts menacing and comical.Robert Zemeckis's direction in "Back to the Future" is masterful. The film seamlessly transitions between the 1950s and the 1980s, creating a believable world in both eras. The pacing is impeccable, keeping the audience engaged throughout the entire runtime. Zemeckis expertly balances the film's various tones, effortlessly blending comedy, action, and heartfelt moments. The cinematography by Dean Cundey beautifully captures the film's different time periods. From the vibrant colors of the 1980s to the nostalgic sepia tones of the 1950s, each frame is visually striking. The dynamic camerawork enhances the film's excitement and adds to the overall sense of adventure.Beyond its entertaining plot and memorable characters, "Back to the Future" explores several meaningful themes. The film emphasizes the significance of family, friendship, and embracing one's true self. It also examines the consequences of altering the past, emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility and accepting one's own history. Elsewhere, we praise the performance of Thomas F. Wilson and each of his iterations on iconic bully Biff Tannen. We celebrate the film's wacky, cartoonish vision of 2015, complete with flying cars, hoverboards and Nike MAG sneakers. We also talk extensively about the dystopian alternative 1985 and its uncanny resemblance to ... today. And finally, we break down the climactic recreation of the first film's events, and question whether the decision to end on a cliffhanger was successfully executed. We buck convention and produce a recap podcast that is shorter than the source material this week! Closing Crawl produces propaganda for the monarchy this week, in exchange for a boatload of eels as we put another squid on the barbie and heads down under the sea. There is dissension on Mon Cala between the "aggressive squid-like Quarren" and "their peaceful neighbors the Mon Calamari". The Mon Calamari king of the planet has been assassinated, and his son, Prince Lee-Char, is young and untested. The Quarren indicate a preference for self-determination, but the Mon Calamari let them know rules are rules, and the rules are male-line primogeniture. With civil war now inevitable (question mark?), the Republic sends a clone company led by Kit Fisto and Ahsoka Tano. But the Quarren, backed by Dooku and the Separatists attack first! Tamson tries to kill Lee-Char and fails, and the Quarren retreat for the day. But then they come back with their new super-weapon, Hydroid Medusae! Which are giant cyborg jellyfish. The Mon Calamari cannot beat electrical tentacles, so they retreat to a cave system.Chocki is getting chewed out by Dooku for letting Lee Char escape because the writers room doesn't understand ‘show, don't tell'.  Dooku then advocates for internment camps for the Mon Cal in a direct ball kicking to our theory of moral equivalence between the Republic and Separatists.  Kit Fisto requests help from his own Space Time (™) with Mace and Yoda.  Ackbar continues to Peter Principle poor Lee Char and somehow everyone is cool with that.  Meanwhile Yoda stumbles on the idea of conscription, and Obi Wan suggests the Gungans because he's petty.  Kit Fisto uses the dreaded rear admiral on some Quarren to steal their mini sub for his less moist peers.   Lee Char goes into hiding.  The Gungans are concerned, but Jar Jar convinces everyone that Padme ‘helped' them suggesting that Gungans are part goldfish, and they promptly decide to jump into the meat grinder of Padme's poor judgment. Kit Fisto is excited to see Gungans because it means the post victory orgy just got interesting.  I can't think of any other reason anyone would be relieved to see Gungans.  Chocki uses a cyclone in a bottle from the local children's museum to brutalize the Mon Cal and Gungan forces.  Everyone but Ahsoka and Lee Char are captured.  We open on Padme, Jar Jar, Anakin, and Kit Fisto being interrogated by Biff Tannen, er, Riff Tamson.  The prince and Ahsoka come up with a plan to free the prisoners.  Meanwhile, Tamson breaks Padme's helmet to encourage Anakin to talk.  The prince believes that Ri will join the Mon Cal to overthrow the separatists and Tamson… and he's right.  At just the right time, the Quarren, Mon Cal, Gungans, and clones all fight back against the droids and sharks.  The prince kills Tamson by shooting an explosive he stuck in his shoulder… and OH GOD!!!  That's a floating, decapitated head!?! The Clone Wars: Season 4 Episodes 1, 2 and 3: https://www.disneyplus.com/video/0118dfcf-cb59-44eb-bb93-15888e9cb8a6https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCz9X-57K6-VV_GkUBaqvyeAMerch: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

In 2007, the United States Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the National Film Registry.  A musical theater production, Back to the Future, was announced in 2014.The musical was written by Gale and Zemeckis, with music written by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. It debuted at the Manchester Opera House, England, in February 2020, to positive critical reviews. Gale said the musical was the best way to give fans more Back to the Future without adding to the film series. First time you saw the movie? Plot:In 1985, Marty McFly is a typical teenager living in Hill Valley, California. At home, Marty's meek father George is bullied by his supervisor, Biff Tannen. His mother Lorraine is a depressed alcoholic, and his older siblings are professional and social failures. Marty's band is rejected at a music contest for being too loud. He confides in his girlfriend, Jennifer Parker, about fears of becoming losers like his parents despite his ambitions. That night, Marty meets his eccentric scientist friend Emmett "Doc" Brown in the Twin Pines mall parking lot at 1:16am. Doc unveils a time machine built from a modified DeLorean, powered by plutonium he swindled from Libyan terrorists. Doc tests the Delorean with his dog, Einstein, sending him exactly one minute into the future, and showing Marty some serious shit. After he proves it works, Doc inputs a destination time of November 5, 1955—the day he first conceived the flux capacitor, which is what makes time travel possible. Just then, the terrorists arrive unexpectedly, opening fire and shooting Doc. Marty flees in the DeLorean, inadvertently activating the flux capacitor, and when he reaches 88 miles per hour, he disappears into a fireball, as the terrorists crash. S:-Huey Lewis was the teacher who told Marty he was too loud.-What would've happened if Einstein hadn't shown back up? Or if he were dead when he did?-If you could go back in time, when would you go? Why?  Arriving in 1955, Marty crashes into Old Man Peabodies barn. After being mistaken for an alien, Marty escapes, driving over one of his pine trees. Marty discovers he has no plutonium to return to 1985. While exploring a burgeoning Hill Valley, Marty encounters his teenage father and discovers Biff has been bullying him since high school. While spying on the teenage Lorraine, George falls into the path of an oncoming car, and Marty is knocked unconscious saving him. He wakes to find himself tended to by Lorraine, who becomes infatuated with him just like in Tuckers dreams. Marty tracks down a younger Doc and convinces him he is from the future, but Doc explains the only source available in 1955 capable of generating the power required for time travel is a bolt of lightening. Marty shows Doc a flyer from the future that documents an upcoming lightning strike at the town's courthouse, and with it being 1955, is the same day Chris lost his virginity. As Marty's siblings begin to fade from a photo he is carrying with him, Doc realizes Marty's actions are altering the future and jeopardizing his existence, GREAT SCOTT; Lorraine was supposed to meet George instead of Marty after the car accident. The pair try and get Lorraine interested in George, but they fail, and Lorraine's infatuation with Marty deepens. This is Heavy.Lorraine asks Marty to the school dance. He plots to feign inappropriate advances on Lorraine, allowing George to intervene and "rescue" her, but the plan goes awry when Biff's gang locks Marty in the trunk of the performing band's car, while Biff forces himself onto Lorraine. George arrives expecting to find Marty but is attacked by Biff. After Biff hurts Lorraine, an enraged George knocks him unconscious and escorts the grateful Lorraine to the dance, picking up her panties on the way. The band frees Marty from their car, but the lead guitarist injures his hand in the process. Marty takes his place and during his playing of Earth Angel, all of his siblings in the picture have disappeared, and Marty starts to fade away, when George and Lorraine finally share their first kiss; bringing back Marty and his siblings. After a rousing performance of Johnny B Good, and, with his future no longer in jeopardy, Marty heads to the courthouse to meet Doc. S:-Guess we shouldn't ask if anyone has ever been a peeping Tom...-When and who was your first kiss?-The flyer is def precurser to the sports almanac in part 2.-So besides it being his own mom, Martys idea is STILL a sexual assault, even if he didn't go through with it, but Biff did. Notice where his hand was coming from when George opened the door.  Doc discovers a note from Marty warning him about his future and destroys it, worried about the consequences. To save Doc, Marty re-calibrates the DeLorean to return ten minutes before he left the future. After some trials, Marty drives and the lightning strikes, sending him back to 1985, but the DeLorean breaks down, forcing Marty to run back to the now LONE PINE mall, much like Trey does on most nights. Lone. Pine. Ok. He arrives as Doc is being shot. While Marty grieves at his side, Doc sits up, revealing he pieced Marty's note back together and was wearing a bulletproof vest. He takes Marty home and departs to 2015 in the DeLorean.Marty wakes the next morning to discover his father is now a confident and successful science fiction author, his mother is fit and happy, his siblings are successful, and Biff is a servile valet in George's employ. As Marty reunites with Jennifer, Doc suddenly reappears in the DeLorean, insisting they return with him to the future to save their children. As they get in, Marty tells Doc he'll need more road to get to 88... When Doc tells him where they're going, they wont need, roads. The DeLorean takes off, and flies into the sky and the future. The End. S:-Again, if you could go back and change anything would you?-If you could know your future, would you?-They didn't think about the fact that Marty would crash into a theatre back in the future?-Also, this implies the whole reason Doc was "friends" with Marty, a 17 year old boy, was because he'd known for 30 years what would happen. How do you even make that introduction and start that friendship? "Hey, we've got to be friends so you go back in time and save my life by writing a letter..."?-I've read reviews of people who don't like the role reversal of George and Biff, that George has basically become the bully. Thoughts?     Top Five Trivia of the movie: 1. The role of Marty McFly was originally portrayed by Eric Stoltz. But he was fired several weeks into the shoot and replaced by Michael J. Fox.2. Thomas F. Wilson improvised some of Biff's signature catchphrases, such as butthead and make like a tree, and get out of here3. The iconic DeLorean time machine was almost a Ford Mustang.4. In early drafts, the time machine was a refrigerator.5. According to Back to the Future Part III (1990), the clock in the clock tower started running at 8:00 p.m. on September 5, 1885. The date is provided by the caption on the photograph that Doc Brown gives Marty at the end of Back to the Future Part III. The time is provided by the Mayor in 1885 in Back to the Future Part III, who starts it. The lightning strikes the clock tower at 10:04 p.m. on November 12, 1955. This means that the clock tower operated for exactly seventy years, two months, seven days, two hours, and four minutes.   TOP 5Stephen:1 Breakfast club2 T23 Sandlot4 Escape rooms ---> Back to the Future5 Mail order brides Chris:1. sandlots2. This time, we're returning to a franchise we covered in the early days of the show with Back to the Future Part 2 and along the way we discuss what the rules for a sequel are, how this film nailed some predictions yet got 2015 so wrong, and how Crispin Glover, the weirdest man in existence, managed to forever change Hollywood. Let's dig in… Back to the Future Part II Cast and Crew With a couple of exceptions, the entirety of the cast and crew returned to produce Part II. Directed by Robert Zemeckis: After completing the first film in the series, Zemeckis became a hot commodity, and went on to make Who Framed Roger Rabbit? That film is great and we have no complaints to levy against it, but it was a clear indication of the technological lengths Zemeckis was willing to go to in order to accomplish his vision. If you're unfamiliar with Roger Rabbit, the real world and the cartoon world are blended together with characters like Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse who coexist with humans in 1940's Hollywood. The film blends live action and cartoon animations to create a surreal yet enjoyable experience and Zemeckis would carry this ambition into Back to the Future Part II Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly: At the time of Back to the Future's release in 1985, Fox became an overnight sensation and would star in several major 80's movies including Teen Wolf, The Secret of My Success and Casualties of War, but returned to the franchise to reprise his role in Part II Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown: Lloyd has enjoyed a great career thanks to his manic portrayal of this somewhat mad scientist and was more than willing to return to the franchise only if Zemeckis and Fox were signed on to return as well Elisabeth Shue as Jennifer Parker: Shue replaced Claudia Wells from the first film and while Jennifer plays a slightly bigger role this time around, she spends the majority of the film unconscious and waiting for Marty and Doc to fix the corrupted version of 1985 Thomas F. Wilson returns to play Biff and Griff Tannen Lea Thompson also returns to play Lorraine Baines-McFly Crispin Glover didn't return to the franchise following a disagreement with the producers, he was replaced with Jeffrey Weissman who was disguised using prosthetics and flipping the actor to obscure the audience's view of the actor's face Alan Silvestri returned to compose the soundtrack as he had for the first film Back to the Future 2 Special Effects: I Knew it was a Fake Shark For the time of the film's release, the special effects are incredibly advanced. For starters, it took the production design almost two years to build the sets. The production designer, who had previously worked on Blade Runner, undertook the project with a personal goal of making Part II look nothing like Blade Runner. If you've seen Blade Runner, you know that it is a very dark and sleek yet it has an edge to it. The team was given a blank canvas to do what they wanted, but there are differences between the Hill Valley square shown in the first film to that of the second film. Notably, the addition of the garden and fountain in the center and beefing up the technological advances are visible on-screen. One big addition to the film was the introduction of the Vistaglide system. The Vistaglide camera system enabled Zemeckis to insert the same actor at different points in the same scene. Hence why we see two Michael J. Fox's playing Marty McFly Sr. and Marty McFly Jr., as well as Thomas F. Wilson playing an older Biff Tannen and a character named Griff in 2015. While these type of scenes existed prior to this film, the new Vistaglide system allowed for camera movement and dynamic action in these scenes. Introduced in the final moments of the first film, Doc had modified the Delorean to fly and that also had to be included in Part II. The Delorean exclusively flies in this film and it's disguised rather well that you hardly notice it.
