Prayer Series: Daniel Receives the Seventy Weeks Prophecy from God in Response to His Prayer for Israel-Lesson # 27
Prayer Series: Daniel Receives the Seventy Weeks Prophecy from God in Response to His Prayer for Israel-Lesson # 27
The prophet Daniel, living in exile under Persian rule, studied Jeremiah's prophecy about Israel's 70-year captivity and was moved to pray for his people's restoration. His powerful prayer wasn't based on his own righteousness but on God's mercy, as he confessed the collective sins that led to exile: neglecting God's commands, treating people brutally, and worshipping false gods. God responded through the angel Gabriel with the Seventy Weeks prophecy, promising to finish transgression, end sin, atone for iniquity, bring everlasting righteousness, seal vision and prophet, and anoint a most holy place. These promises point directly to Christ's redemptive work. For us today, this teaches that we need hope and redemption rather than just pain relief, that true confession brings healing, and that God's perfect character gives us confidence in His timing.https://www.ankenyfree.church

In this timely message, Pastor Bill Monroe shows how Daniel's prophecy of the Seventy Weeks unfolds through history — from the rebuilding of Jerusalem to the rise of Antichrist — and why today's headlines echo the words of Scripture.Christians have nothing to fear. The same prophecy that warns of judgment also promises the coming Kingdom and everlasting righteousness.
By Philip Aust - In a continuing series of sermons covering the Book of Daniel, pastor Philip Aust covers chapter 9. The prayer of Daniel acknowledging the sins of his nation was heard by God and He sent and angel to reveal important events that were to come. Many of those revelations apply to the end of the age - a
"Real prayer doesn’t stop at personal confession. It joins God in His redemptive work and asks, ‘Lord, act for Your own sake—so that Your name will be glorified.’" This week, we are diving into Daniel 9, where Daniel reads Jeremiah’s prophecy about seventy years of exile and responds with a model prayer—humble, confessional, covenant-anchored, and intercessory. God answers through the angel Gabriel with the “seventy weeks” vision, pointing beyond the immediate return from exile to God’s larger plan to end sin and bring everlasting righteousness through the Messiah. Nicole outlines three historic interpretations of the prophecy (historic-messianic, preterist, futurist) and shows how all Scripture centers on Christ. The episode closes with practical ways to pattern our prayers after Daniel and to live confidently in the “already/not yet.” Watch the bonus segment on YouTube ("Does God change His mind because of prayer?"): Join the conversation and get the extra content! https://www.youtube.com/nicoleunice What We Cover: A pattern for prayer: Daniel 9:3–19 gives a four-part template—humility, confession (including corporate confession), appeal to God’s covenant character, and intercession for God’s people and God’s glory. Praying God’s promises: Daniel prays Scripture back to God (Jeremiah’s 70-year prophecy) as an act of trust and alignment, not demand. Prophecy centers on Christ: Whatever one’s view of the “seventy weeks,” Daniel 9:24 points to six promises fulfilled in Jesus—ending sin and ushering in everlasting righteousness. Knowledge → faithfulness: After a heavy vision, Daniel “got up and went about the king’s business,” modeling steady, everyday obedience. Hold mystery with confidence: Christians can disagree on timing/details while agreeing that God writes history toward redemption in Christ. This message examines the particulars of Gabriel's revelation to Daniel and the meaning of his message in the light of Daniel's circumstance, prayer, and burden for his people, the city of Jerusalem, and Yahweh's sanctuary.
This message examines the historical and contextual background of Daniel's "seventy weeks" prophecy. This passage is commonly viewed as focusing on the "end-times" and God's "time clock" for Israel culminating with Jesus' second coming at the end of this age. But a different understanding emerges when it is examined closely and carefully in its historical setting according to its contextual concerns.

Daniel 9:20-27, known as The Seventy Weeks, is a detailed prophecy given to Daniel by the angel Gabriel after his prayer for Jerusalem. It reveals God's plan from the Persian decree to build Jerusalem, through the Messiah's coming, to the future Tribulation. This key eschatological passage highlights God's precision, power, and purpose. Well-structured and rich in theology, it shows God operates on a divine schedule, guiding history toward a predetermined end. For believers, Daniel 9:20-27 reminds that even in chaos, God works His redemptive plan. It calls the church to discernment and hope, recognizing that history follows God's decrees. The seventy weeks prophecy shows God's purposes fulfilled through Jesus Christ.

It is important to understand the seventy weeks of years in Daniel to interpret end-times prophecy. Sixty-nine of those weeks have been fulfilled, beginning at the time the command was given to rebuild the city of Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity, and culminating at the crucifixion of Christ. There is a gap of time until the time of the Gentiles is complete; then the seventieth week of years will begin. In those last seven years, Antichrist will come to power. Three Proofs of God James Brown Have you ever tried to conduct your own Bible study about timelines in the Bible? Especially trying to calculate the “Soon Return of Jesus?” It's difficult to do… and when you finish – or at least when I finish – my notes are so jumbled, I'm more confused than when I started… Amen! Well, today we are going to have a very special discussion on the soon return of Jesus! We are living in times where many are wondering just how close we are to this pivotal moment. To help us dive into this topic, I am thrilled to introduce our special guest, James Brown, the esteemed author of "Three Proofs of God." His book provides detailed information on the prophetic timeline of the first coming of Jesus, the timeline of His life, and most intriguingly, the timeline of His soon return. James has pinpointed exact dates that bring new insights into our understanding of these events. He's conducted detailed research and I'm excited to get into today's interview and explore the profound implications of these timelines. Join us as we uncover the signs, prophecies, and current events that point towards the fulfillment of this significant promise. Amen! Help me welcome to the program, James Brown! James, I do appreciate your time today and I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to today's interview! First question, other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is James Brown?” Three Proofs of God presents a new and surprisingly precise solution to Daniel's passage and verifies it using objective evidence. This solution confirms God's existence, Jesus' Messiahship, and Scripture's reliability. Your book is unique… I've never encountered one that goes into so much detail – but makes it easy to comprehend what you are sharing… What motivated you to write this type of book? How long did it take you from concept to publication? In the Bible, Jesus directly asked us to understand a key passage from the prophet Daniel. To this day, people have not yet fully agreed on that passage's precise meaning. Why do you think that is? Share with us the “Three Proofs of God?” What are they? You've demonstrated in your book that the “Seventy Weeks of Daniel” are accurate… very accurate. That being the case, can you give us the “window” of the “Return of Jesus?” Are we “in that window now?” There have been many different books over the years that tried to pinpoint these dates… why did they get it wrong all of this time? One thing I've noticed lately is the prophecy coming true that “the entire world” will be against Israel. Recently, the United Nations, the United States and other nations have come out against Israel, basically “demanding” they surrender to Hamas by stopping all military action and leave Rapha and the Gaza Strip.
