On the Tuesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel, host Noah Hiles welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to parse through what went wrong against the Houston Texans on Monday night and look ahead to the team's offseason. What went wrong in that game? Was it indicative of bigger problems all year? How did Aaron Rodgers perform in his (likely) only year in black and gold? Was he a better option than previous ones like Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and if so, why was the result the same? What's DK Metcalf's role moving forward? What changes should be made, and what changes will be made? Does everything really come down to Mike Tomlin? Will he be the coach in 2026? What about his coordinators? Will Arthur Smith return amid rumors he's up for head coaching jobs? What about Teryl Austin after his run defense was gashed in the playoffs — again? Our duo tackles those topics and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Gerry Dulac and Ray Fittipaldo react to an NFL playoffs loss to the Houston Texans at Acrisure Stadium. What should we make of yet another one-and-done performance from a Mike Tomlin coached team in the postseason? What went wrong for Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Kenneth Gainwell, Jaylen Warren, Calvin Austin III, Pat Freiermuth and OC Arthur Smith's unit? Were Mason McCormick, Zach Frazier, Troy Fautanu and the offensive line simply outclassed by Texans pass rushers Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr.? And how should we evaluate T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, Jalen Ramsey and the defense for forcing three turnovers by Texans QB C.J. Stroud but failing to stop Woody Marks and the Texans running game? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.

Former Steelers Super Bowl champion Trai Essex joined the show. Trai says that Alex Highsmith is the player that the Steelers need to have a great game to have a chance against the Texans. He points out that Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell need to be the x-factors for the Steelers. The Texans defense is going up against a very young offensive line.
Male discipleship is a core value for "Fearless." Today, Jason explains, we're witnessing a classic example coming to fruition in Chicago. Bears QB Caleb Williams, once known for his fingernail polish and jumping into Mommy's arms following a loss in college, has been transformed by head coach Ben Johnson. Leading an incredible come-from-behind victory over Green Bay, Williams displayed during the game and afterward the leadership qualities instilled by Johnson, all the while crediting his head coach for his growth as a man. Poor body language or lack of fundamentals proved an albatross for Williams; however, under Johnson, he has proven that embracing discipleship is a step toward success. Steve Kim joins the show to break down NFL Truths from this week, along with looking forward to the Miami-Indiana showdown for the CFP Championship a week from today. Skap Attack joins to preview the Steelers-Texans playoff matchup this evening, as well as Doc Rivers and Steve Kerr vying for the role of lead jester for the left. January 12, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 76 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare to play the visiting Houston Texans on Monday night in the final Wild Card game of the week. In our weekly housekeeping portion of this show, which is sponsored by the fine folks at TouringPlans.com, Alex and I talk about the Steelers' latest injury report, which was released on Saturday afternoon. We discuss how we'll be watching closely on Monday whether the team makes any elevations and if so, how any of those could impact the pregame inactive list later in the evening. The Steelers opened the 21-day practice window on DT Isaiahh Loudermilk a few days ago so that nugget also gets our attention early in this show. The All-Pro designations came in on Saturday morning and so Alex and I discuss Steelers DT Cameron Heyward earning Second-Team honors for the 2025 season. We also go over all of the votes that other players from the Steelers received from the All-Pro voters this year. Wild Card weekend included a lot of great games on Saturday and Sunday, so Alex and I go over what transpired in the five contests that have now been completed. We also discuss the fact that the Steelers will play the New England Patriots on the road next Sunday in a Divisional Round playoff game should they beat the Texans on Monday night. With no beat writer from the Texans to talk to on this Monday, Alex and I provide our own preview of the Steelers-Texans game. We break down what we are looking for out of each team on both sides of the football. We start by talking about the Texans' offense and then move on to discussing their great defense. We go over what we think the Steelers need to do on offense, defense, and special teams on Monday night to beat the Texans. Alex and I then give our picks for Steelers-Texans based on the line provided by show sponsor MyBookie.ag. We make sure to give our final score predictions for the Steelers-Texans Wild Card game as well. This 86-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted above and we end this episode by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. And on the other side of the ball, what are the keys to stopping C.J. Stroud? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Monday Night Football in Pittsburgh for a Wild Card playoff matchup between the Steelers and Texans. A vibe check as the Steelers get their first home playoff game (in front of fans) for the first time since the 2017 season (January 2018). Are people feeling confident going into tonight? Are they too confident? The guys both paint a losing picture before getting to some calls.
KDKA meteorologist Mary Ours joined the show. Mary gave us an idea of what the weather will be like tonight for Steelers-Texans. She said the temps will read in the mid 30's, but with 15-20 mph wind, it will feel like it's in the 20's. She doesn't think it will have a huge impact on the passing game, which is what you normally get with stiff wind. She explained the difference between wind speed and wind gust. The guys asked Mary about any superstitions she has going into a game. She forewarned us that snow is likely at the end of this week that could affect the east coast.
Westwood One NFL analyst Ross Tucker joined the show. Ross will be on the sidelines tonight for the NFL on Westwood One. Ross is also a native of PA, but from the eastern side, so his Eagles went down yesterday. Ross thinks the weather does play a factor and it benefits the Steelers because the Texans can only prepare so much for it. Ross said Aaron Rodgers is the more trustworthy QB in this game, mostly because of the weather. Ross believes if the Steelers reach 20 points, they will win the game – that could be the case for both teams. Ross is in disbelief that there are people in Pittsburgh upset over the fact that the Steelers got the playoffs with Mike Tomlin. Ross gives Demeco Ryans the edge for the in-game part of coaching in this matchup. Ross explained what Future Fans dot com is all about. Ross picked the Texans to win the game.

January 9, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 75 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare to play the Houston Texans on Monday night in a home Wild Card game. Alex and I discuss the recent practice squad move made by the Steelers in addition to the team's injury report that was released on Thursday. We also go over the injury situation with the Texans as of Thursday. Steelers OC Arthur Smith will interview with the Tennessee Titans for their open head coaching job, so Alex and I make sure to address that news thoroughly. Is Smith prime head coach material right now? Will he ultimately land a second head coaching job this offseason? We attempt to answer those questions in this show. We also address some potential successors to Smith should he wind out being hired away from the Steelers this offseason. Might Steelers S DeShon Elliott be able to return from his injury should the team advance deeper into the playoffs? We go over the possibility of that happening and the latest Instagram post made by Elliott. How important is Steelers QB Aaron Rosdgers to the team heading into the playoffs and how much of an advantage will he having played the Texans last season as a member of the New York Jets matter come Monday night? We address that question and go over a few things Rodgers said on Thursday to the media. On Thursday, we once again heard from two of the Steelers' coordinators, Arthur Smith and Teryl Austin, so Alex and I recap the main talking points to come out of those media sessions. There's not a lot to chew on from those two once again this week, but we tackle the most notable comments from both, ahead of the Monday night game against the Texans. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin was on The Rich Eisen Show on Wednesday, so Alex and I go over the key things he had to say during that interview. Alex and I then give our picks against the spread for all of the NFL Wild Card NFL games provided by show sponsor MyBookie.ag. We, however, won't be picking the Steelers-Texans game until our Monday show. Steelers reporter Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. The guys asked Ray about Arthur Smith getting an interview request with the Titans and who the Steelers could look at if he gets a job? What could the future be for Teryl Austin, outside of a playoff run? Ray thinks the Texans are a beatable team even with an elite defense. Ray picked the Steelers to beat the Texans.
Pirates reporter Jason Mackey from the PG joined the show. Jason reflected on the news of the PG, his main employer, ceasing to exist as of May 2026. Jason described yesterday as an ‘odd' day. Jason gave his quick thoughts on the Steelers-Texans matchup Monday night. Jason told us the Pirates were not close to signing Kazuma Okamoto, despite what many claimed on social media before or after the fact. He thinks Okamoto will be a pretty good MLB player. Is Eugenio Suarez still a realistic possibility at 3B? Jason doesn't see it if the contract approaches $20M/year.
Mike Tomlin spent some time praising the Texans' defense earlier this week. Are we as a collective sleeping on what Houston can bring on that side of the ball? The guys think the Steelers can hang around in this game, but not due to the doubts of that defense, but of the offense. CJ Stroud is a good QB, but hasn't taken the step to ‘great' just yet. The last 3 QBs that have beaten the Steelers in the playoffs have all won the MVP award. Stroud isn't that player yet. Is Demeco Ryans the mirror image matchup against Mike Tomlin? Is it a little bit of what Tomlin wishes he had? Pirates reporter Jason Mackey from the PG joined the show. Jason reflected on the news of the PG, his main employer, ceasing to exist as of May 2026.
