On his weekly Chipped Ham & Football podcast, Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko ranks the team's 2025 schedule by degree of difficulty. Will Myles Garrett and the Browns be the easiest foe coach Mike Tomlin's team sees? Or will they still be able to challenge the offense that's been re-tooled with names including DK Metcalf, Kenneth Gainwell and -- possibly -- QB Aaron Rodgers? How much pressure will offensive juggernauts like the Bills and Lions put on T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, first-round pick Derrick Harmon and the team's new-look defense? Can they slow down stars like Josh Allen, Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown? Or will those guys find success like Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry of the division rival Ravens did in the playoffs last season? And how do Joe Burrow and the Bengals plus J.J. Even after George Pickens was dealt to the Dallas Cowboys with one year remaining on his contract last week? And how does Watt's contract negotiation fit into that conversation? Our duo ponders those questions, then the future of the Steelers backfield. How quickly will third-round pick Kaleb Johnson eat into Jaylen Warren's workload? Is he a realistic threat to start? And where do other options including Kenneth Gainwell and Trey Sermon fit into the situation. Could Roman Wilson, Robert Woods and Calvin Austin really provide the necessary production behind DK Metcalf? Is Khan sending more smokescreens with an eye toward free agents like Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper? Our duo tackles those questions and more from rookie camp. How does this move fit into a confusing offseason so far, one that's included big additions in DK Metcalf, Kenneth Gainwell and Darius Slay Jr; big subtractions in the form of Najee Harris, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields; plus a protracted pursuit of quarterback Aaron Rodgers? Are general manager Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin serious about competing this year? Or are they looking toward the 2026 NFL draft, in which they now have a basket of picks to pursue a quarterback like Arch Manning, Drew Allar, Nico Iamaleava and LaNorris Sellers? Steelers insider Nick Farabaugh from Penn Live dot com joined the show. Nick said his money is on the Steelers taking Shedeur Sanders 21st overall in a few nights. Nick said he heard his meeting with the Steelers went well. Nick's belief is that the Steelers did not expect Sanders to fall to them, but now that it's more realistic, it's becoming very clear how much they like his bravado and confidence. Nick said QB mobility is not a big thing to them since they are clearly pursuing Aaron Rodgers. How much can Sanders move? Nick the mechanics are the things to work on with Sanders – he has it figured out above the shoulders. Nick thinks the plan for Sanders would be to start the guy in 2025 at some point. But how much changes if Rodgers is here? How much do the Steelers like Jaxson Dart? What has changed with the Steelers brass since the Senior Bowl and combine? Out of middle round QBs, Nick likes the idea of Will Howard being the Steelers selection at 83rd overall. Nick doesn't see Tyler Shough happening. Nick confirmed what he has heard about Derrick Harmon, who has some medical red flags going into the draft, which could result in him falling a bit in the 1st round. Poni went through some of the defensive line class and Nick explained why the Steelers should double-dip. More w/ Nick – Nick said the 2026 QB class will be better than what we see this year and that he personally wouldn't draft Shedeur Sanders on Thursday night. Nick said the Steelers clearly value the ‘high-floor' that Sanders has, but questioned how much better that makes them in the AFC. Nick doesn't think there is a ton of blue chippers in this draft, so trading back will all depend on who is on the board. Nick is pretty adamant that the Steelers are not going to trade George Pickens and they will wait until after the draft to talk contract. Nick thinks 3rd round or later is the spot for WR, but doesn't think there's a guarantee that one gets picked early. Where does Roman Wilson fall into things on offense? Poni asked Nick about some guys that could fall to them on Thursday. More w/ Nick – The guys talked about the concerning idea of the Steelers drafting Shemar Stewart on Thursday night, who Nick compared to DeMarvin Leal. Nick doesn't like the idea of the team taking a big safety in the 1st round either. Nick expects the 3rd or 4th round pick to be a runner. Nick isn't sold on the Steelers signing a veteran RB unless they come away without one this weekend. Nick said the Steelers really like Kenneth Gainwell in that backfield as the third man. How could it work if the Steelers have a trade back scenario?

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the Steelers starting running back situation entering the 2025 season. The team let Najee Harris go into free agency, without even making a significant attempt to re-sign him, and they added only former Philadelphia Eagles third-down back Kenneth Gainwell in the free agency process. There is still a draft to go, but it seems clear that the Steelers intend to hand the reins at running back to Jaylen Warren in 2025. Is that wise? Harris was a four-time thousand-yard rusher, something Warren has not done in his pro career. But he's never had the opportunity to, either. Warren will be getting the lion's share of the reps for the first time, and while he's been the change-of-base back, he's been statistically dominant when compared to Harris in the three years they shared the Steelers backfield. So will Warren work out as RB1? Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Send us a textDrew and Rob team up on "2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates" to break down the New York Giants' season finale against the NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles. The cohosts dive into every aspect of the game, analyzing the key plays, standout performances, and critical moments that defined this divisional matchup.  For the Giants, this game marked the end of a grueling 2024 season. With the team entering the game at 3-13, many fans were split on whether to root for a win or hope for a loss to secure a higher draft pick. Drew and Rob discuss how this controversial debate shaped the atmosphere heading into the game and reflect on the team's performance under these circumstances.  A major storyline was the absence of former Giant Saquon Barkley, who sat out for the Eagles while just 101 yards shy of breaking the NFL's single-season rushing record. Drew and Rob explore how Barkley's absence impacted the game and the emotions tied to seeing him in a rival uniform after years as a cornerstone of the Giants' franchise.  Speculation surrounding the future of Head Coach Brian Daboll and General Manager Joe Schoen also took center stage, with rumors suggesting this may have been Daboll's final game leading the team. The cohosts analyze how the game—and the season as a whole—might influence the Giants' leadership decisions heading into 2025.  The Eagles, having locked up the NFC's No. 2 seed, rested many starters, including their quarterback Jalen Hurts. The Giants faced rookie quarterback Tanner McKee, who led an offense featuring younger players like Kenneth Gainwell, Will Shipley, and Jahan Dotson. On the Giants' side, Drew Lock made his fifth start of the season and looked to build on last week's career-best performance against the Colts. Drew and Rob evaluate Lock's play, assessing whether he could factor into the Giants' future plans.  The Giants also aimed to snap a decade-long losing streak at Lincoln Financial Field while chasing their first NFC East win of the season. Drew and Rob review whether Big Blue finally overcame these hurdles or fell short again. They also touch on the performances of key players, the coaching staff's approach, and how this game sets the stage for the offseason.  Whether you're celebrating a rare divisional win or lamenting another tough loss, Drew and Rob's postgame reaction has all the insights, analysis, and banter Giants fans crave. Don't miss this comprehensive breakdown as "2 Giants Goofballs" wraps up a challenging season and looks ahead to what's next for the New York Giants.#giants #ngiants #eaglesSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast.
