I am super excited today because we are joined by Tina Conrad, DJ breast cancer today. You may know her from Instagram, Tina is such a source of light and positivity in our beautiful breast cancer community here. This conversation is all about faith which is such an important part of my life, but it wasn't always that way. I share my story with my faith, how I went from not having a practice, to having a really deep connection with the universe God's source my creator. It was such a really great conversation because we have different vehicles to practice our faith, but it's the same result. Topics discussed in this episode:The importance of seeking out other resources for supportThe different vehicles to practice faith and what it may look like for youHow to incorporate this type of practice into your dayTina’s breast cancer journey both as the survivor and the daughter of oneKey takeaways:We can rely on something other than just our own willpower and strengthLetting go and surrendering to a higher powerThat higher power is going to look different for everyoneAction step:You have to let go of the old, to create space for the new, and there's something that's so powerful about letting go and surrendering to a higher power outside of you.Tina said:“My mom was diagnosed when I was in my young twenties. I think I was 25 and that really pulled our family all together, but then she had a recurrence about three years later and it really made me angry and it really kind of for a time severed my ties maybe to some of that faith. I think there is something about, you know, the faith that you grow up with, but then the faith that you find when you're an adult and I can be very moved now.”“But now I truly feel if I can help one more person, see God, the way that I see them too, you know, then I'm really making a difference in this world. So if anyone has any questions or wants to reach out or, you know, Even wants to have a debate. Like I welcome it. Um, you know, I just think it's, it's great to have conversations about faith and be, and be transparent about who you are.”Thanks so much for listening!Important Announcements: If you haven’t downloaded our FREE 3 Vital Steps to THRIVE after BC mini course yet, download it now! Im heading back out West for another great craft beer story, and I am bloody excited about it. It's no secret that I love the WA beer scene, the beers are awesome, the people even better, and the fans are amazing…I'm talking to you Perth Beer Snobs and South West Craft beer Bogans…thanks for your supportThe left side of the country is big and brown, perfect for growing grapes. I know, I know, this is a beer podcast, but I felt like that was a great segue for me to introduce my guest for this evening. His name is Jason Credaro and comes from a long line of viticulturists, wine makers for the uneducated few among you. But a trip to Oktoberfest kind of threw a spanner in the works of chasing the dream of working with grapes, he decided he'd rather switch to hops!Shunned by the family, he then set out to follow his dream. With stints at Billabong Brewing and Little Creatures, Blue Mile and Brick Lane, and even a recent stink in South Korea with AB-Inbev he has certainly paid his dues and built up a pretty handy set of skills. There's a bit in this story, what are you waiting for? Compact Medical Solutions is a medical device startup, working to design a new type of bag valve mask resuscitator called the Butterfly BVM. A bag valve mask resuscitator is a device you’ve probably seen on tv shows that helps someone breathe when they can’t breathe on their own. It helps to blow air into the lungs and help them to breathe. These devices haven’t had many updates since they were first designed in 1957, and CEO Johnathan Merrell and his team are working to change that to make them slimmer and better for patients. In my conversation with Jonathan, he explains why the current solution can be so damaging and can cause hyperventilation when used. He also details his experience of going through the G Beta accelerator program, different avenues of FDA approval, and how he’s able to juggle being a father of four, a practicing physician, and CEO of a startup.Topics in this episodeThe progress they’ve had over the last yearHow pitching is different during COVIDAdding these devices to AED boxes in order to have devices available for heart and lung supportThe damage of hyperventilationTaking a medical device to market and how that might have changed recently with COVIDThe difficulties in regulations and bringing a medical device to the marketFuture sales strategy once they secure FDA approvalContact InfoEmail: jon@compactmedicalsolutions.comWebsite: https://www.compactmedicalsolutions.com/

Ouidad is a name synonymous with curly hair care. 30-plus years ago, however, she was a hairstylist from Beruit, Lebanon, who fought (literally in some cases!) to have people recognize the value and beauty of women with curly hair. In 1984, she became a pioneer in the hair care industry when she opened the first salon in the United States that was exclusively for curly hair. People told her she was crazy, what they didn’t realized was that she was determined. Since then, Ouidad has created a trademarked cutting technique for curly air, opened hundreds of salons around the country, and has a line of beloved hair care products that are top-rated by her customers and by many beauty and hair editors. Now, after 30 years in the business, Ouidad is focused on giving back and sharing her wisdom and support with entrepreneurs around the world, including the Support is Sexy audience! On this episode you’ll learn: The challenges and rewards of traveling the unpaved road as a pioneer in your industryWorking with a partner—especially a spouse—and how to draw those important linesExpanding your brand by creating productsThe importance of your commitment to asking for supportThe value of integrity, and why it’s a state of mind Show notes, links, contacts and resources for this episode may be found at http://elaynefluker.com/podcast/ Enjoy, and thank you for listening! Everyone knows about the serious financial hardship that typically follows a major diagnosis such as cancer or a heart attack. What many people don’t see are the serious, long-term, devastating effects such a diagnosis has on not just the person with the medical condition but also, the family around them. Families struggle to stay financially above water while at the same time, struggle to keep the family unit intact…oftentimes with little success. Such are the parts of the collateral damage that can last far beyond the actual medical condition itself. In this show, we will discuss such topics as: The emotional impact and guilt caused by the financial hardshipThe cost of plans derailed by the diagnosisThe importance of getting emotional supportThe critical need to rely on excellent advisors I am honored to have one of the foremost authorities on this subject joining as my guest to discuss these important issues.
