This move represents the growing trend of media personalities extending their brands into consumer productsThe hosts explore the rise of podcasters and influencers in the food and beverage space, drawing comparisons to other successful ventures like Prime Hydration by YouTubers Logan Paul and KSI, which has reached a $1.2 billion valuation. This engaging episode combines practical business insights with commentary on pressing food industry issues.About NicolasNicolas Mulroney co-founded Bond Bakery Brands in 2020, bringing together his passion for food, his interest in growing companies, and his vision to build a better bakery company. The journey into the bakery industry happened by chance, with the investment in Portofino Bakery. Envisioning the company as Canada's next premier commercial artisan bakery, Nicolas, his co-founders, and a group of supportive investors acquired the company in 2019. Since then, Nicolas and his team have made five strategic investments across Canada, exclusively targeting family- and founder-run bakery companies. When the pandemic disrupted the world in March 2020, Nicolas saw an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Responding to the immediate need for food in local shelters, pallets of bakery products were delivered overnight to communities in need. This became the genesis for Bond Bakery Brands and the vision for an impact-driven bakery company.Prior to his role as Chairman & CEO of Bond Bakery Brands, Nicolas ran a private investment company, Northern Waters Capital Ltd. From 2017-2019, Nicolas was a Vice President, Corporate Development, and Strategic Initiatives for a publicly traded cemetery and funeral home company. It was in this role that Nicolas came to understand the power of an acquisition platform in traditional industries. Nicolas' journey also included roles within a Canadian investment bank, where serendipitously, he met his co-founders, Cameron and Matthew.Residing in Toronto, ON, with his wife Katy and four children, Nicolas finds joy outside of work in a familiar place. When not immersed in bakery-related matters at work, he's crafting pizzas in his backyard or perfecting his chocolate chip cookie recipe. Beyond the food industry, Nicolas indulges in his passion for running and golf, rounding out a blend of professional and personal pursuits. The Food Professor #podcast is presented by Caddle. Mitchell Lee is the CEO and co-founder of Ora Biomedical, a Seattle-based biotech company using large-scale phenotypic drug screening in C. elegans to discover small molecule therapeutics that extend lifespan and healthspan. In this episode, Chris and Mitch discuss Ora's approach to drug discovery, which focuses on function and phenotype rather than specific targets or mechanisms. Using their proprietary "WormBot" platform, Ora screens thousands of compounds in parallel to identify molecules that impact lifespan, healthspan, and age-related disease phenotypes, allowing them to discover new longevity interventions in an unbiased, hypothesis-agnostic way.Key topics:How Ora Biomedical was founded out of a conversation between Dr. Lee and his mentor Dr. Matt Kaeberlein about spinning out a company based on the WormBot technologyWhy C. elegans is a useful model organism for discovering fundamental mechanisms of aging that can translate to mammalsHow the WormBot platform uses imaging and machine learning to measure worm lifespan, healthspan, behaviors, and response to drugs at a large scaleOra's goal of screening 1 million compounds within 3 years to find the most promising longevity interventionsStrategies for translating hits from the worm screen into rare disease therapies and direct-to-consumer natural productsThe promise of longevity interventions discovered through unbiased phenotypic screening to prevent age-related diseases and transform human healthQuotes:Quotes have been lightly edited for clarity.“What really sets us apart is that we do phenotypic screening, in live animals.""If you are finding interventions that target those fundamental drivers of aging, you expect them to have multiple different impacts on age-associated diseases. But as we test more longevity interventions, we see that they also have all kinds of different impacts on non–age-associated disease models.“It's really just taking the geroscience hypothesis seriously: If an intervention impacts aging, it's likely to have impacts across many different disease stages, even ones that we wouldn't necessarily think about as being related.”“We've seen examples of how this plays out with things like rapamycin. So it's really incredible the types of therapeutic benefits that can be had through these kinds of interventions.”"There's going to be a never before seen boom in enthusiasm, interest, engagement, and demand for longevity therapeutics. And what we're doing today is putting ourselves in the position where we're going to be able to meet that challenge in the next three to five years."Links: Email questions, comments, and feedback to podcast@bioagelabs.comTranslating Aging on Twitter: @bioagepodcastBioAge Labs Website bioagelabs.comBioAge Labs Twitter @bioagelabsBioAge Labs LinkedInOra BioMedical

Today, I'll be introducing a new preparation method that I have been working on for awhile now! I call it the LEAP Method and it is a four-component system for preparing to have a baby. I have taught birth classes over the years, created pregnancy and postpartum content and worked with hundreds of birth and parenting professionals and my takeaway from all that work is that there are four main things that parents can do to prepare for the arrival of their new baby. Those four things became the LEAP Method, a four-component system designed to help new parents prepare for the arrival of their baby. So here is what LEAP stands for. LEAP represents the four things that all parents can focus on to prepare to bring home a new baby. L stands for Learning, E is for Emotional awareness, A is for Administrative tasks, and P is for products:Learning:Importance of acquiring knowledge and skills for baby care, postpartum self-care, and coping strategiesAdapting the learning process to suit individual family needsEmotional Awareness:Recognizing and navigating the emotional challenges of new parenthood, including hormonal changes and mood swingsImportance of understanding perinatal mood disorders for both parentsResources available to help cope with these emotionsAdministrative Tasks:Planning for and completing necessary tasks before and after the baby's arrival, such as doctor's appointments, maternity/paternity leave, and finding a pediatricianImportance of staying organized for a smooth transition into parenthoodProducts:Identifying essential products and services for new parents, including physical, digital, and service-related productsBalancing priorities and budget while choosing productsThe role of professionals such as doulas, lactation consultants, and postpartum doulas in your support systemLinks mentioned:Get the Confident New Parent Class!Click here to take the 1 minute podcast survey Contact formGet in touch with me: Sign up for a live virtual birth class in April or MayTake the 4 Day Birth ClassFollow me on Instagram and on TikTokFind other episodes at: www.findingyourvillage.com/podcastSign up for a class here!Support the show
