In the second episode of the Advocating for Athletes series, Adam Miller, the head coach at Crenshaw's gymnastics in Austin, TX shares his experiences as a gymnast, coach, and sheds light on what it is going to take to educate coaches on how to successfully train athletes and gymnasts.  Adam believes that there is a need to kill certain stigmas. That the children we coach aren't just athletes, but people with problems like any adult has. As a coach, Adam believes you have to be transparent and care about more than just gymnastics, but the athletes as people, students, family members, etc. He believes that if the coaching community can embrace that, our governing body maybe will finally get the point, because people are calling USA Gymnastics and the Olympic Committee out and they should be. But the change also needs to also happen on a grassroots movement.   More about Adam Miller: Adam is a former gymnast from Austin, Texas. After his gymnastics career ended he moved to San Antonio and worked as a women's team coach and preschool gymnastics director for Alamo Gymnastics for 5 years. He has been the Head Coach for Crenshaw Athletic Club in Austin since 2010. In his time there he has coach gymnasts to success at the State, Regional, Western, and National Level. Having produced multiple D1 scholarship athletes, Adam has had the opportunity to be a High Performance Coach for Region 3, University of Oklahoma, University of Iowa, University of Arkansas, Texas Women's University, and Utah State University.   Follow along Adam's coaching journey at: @crenshawoptionals   To learn more about TAP visit www.texasadvocacyproject.org.   To learn share your story visit: www.lovingthislife.org/shareyourstory   To donate to TAP visit: https://www.texasadvocacyproject.org/LovingThisLife

As a mother to a highly sensitive little boy, I know what it means to parent a child who does not fit into the ‘box’ modern society has put children into. My mission is to help other parents of “that kid”  feel less alone, more confident and more equipped by asking the tough questions to the professionals, gathering tools and resources and connecting with other moms who are wrestling with the same struggles. If recording my journey as I seek a clear starting point, community and effort to normalize life with a highly emotional, sometimes out of control child, supports at least one parent, then my time is not wasted. And if it doesn’t well, there’s documented proof that moms deserve a glass of wine. Cheers Thanks for listening! It means so much to us that you listened to our podcast!   Produced by http://Fastpitch.TV - This week interview Coach Ninemire from Cal State.. This is an interview with Coach Diane Ninemire the head coach for the Cal Golden Bears.  She graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1980.  She played basketball and softball while in college.  She continued her education at Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. Coach Ninemire has wanted to be a coach since 4th grade.  She played travel softball starting at age 10.  She believes that youth should play many sports. She sees a lot of injuries of softball players that have over worked specific joints and muscles coming from playing softball all the time. She thinks they would see less injuries because you are using differnet joints and muscles, if softball/all athletes would play more than one sport. Coach Ninemeire has many softball accomplishments including 1,000 wins and winning the 2002 Women's College World Series.  She says that team had a mission and a purpose. She believes that the will to win is more important than talent on the field. The moment that she will remember for the rest of her life will be during that WCWS top of the 7th against Arizona the score was tied 0-0. They had lead that inning off with a walk.  Then with 2 outs proceeded to score 6 runs, to win the game. Coach Ninemire believes that young players really have to find their true passion, work hard and be dedicated.  Do your best to reach your goals.
