Today Wendy dives into the freedom that comes through expression, trusting and using the passionate voice from within. Ecstasy comes in many forms. It is a rising of truth energy. It's a wildness that isn't meant to be contained. Within you, lives a yes space. It's the place where your wild originates and knows just what to do and how to be. Desire is a (com)passionate freedom. Desire invites us to choose ourselves—our sacred yes space. This is what self-care is. So much wisdom and joy—healing and empowerment lives inside this choice. Massage, candles, sacred baths, exquisite oils and beautiful external environments are invitations to internal, deep, loving care of you and your life. Self-care fills us, fuels us, when we caretake ourselves in both ways. What is pulling you now, asking for your attention? Will you let your desire want you? I share the poems “all this time” and “love enters.” Perhaps your yes space wants to be written. Take some time today or over the next week and see what wants to move through your hand onto paper. A word. A sentence. A story. A wish. Let this be a compassionate practice of self-care. Set a beautiful environment for yourself. Then let yourself move deeper into the lush landscape within. May you remember that you are sacred. This moment is ceremony—and you get to live your wildly naked truth— unapologetically.
Today Wendy explores the importance of connection, discovering, knowing, engaging with being touched both literally and figuratively by life, by living, and by nature and what is being shown to us daily. Enjoy the poem “She Aches.” Guided imagery and meditations are sprinkled throughout this episode. Letting your heart fire expand luminosity throughout and around your entire being. How is Nature asking you to engage with your inner experience? What is longing to wake up within you? What wants to be born? What is blooming? What is ready for a “re-set?” How is this awakening revealing old beliefs that are ready to be transmuted into a new way of being and living? What do you desire to receive? In what ways can you create space to do so? In the Northern Hemisphere, Spring is displaying all the ways life aches for life. To ache truly is a wild and holy thing. In fact, it’s very good news. We were encoded with this truth—at the center of it all, longing leads us to connection. You were built to receive. You are worthy of being invested in, in every way. You are meant to be celebrated, honored, seen, supported. The importance of rites of passage, the ways we have lost this incredibly sacred way of honoring, and how I will soon be sharing this practice in a way that is profoundly essential to the individual and the collective. A few ways COVID has been a rite of passage. Longing to touch, be touched, hold and be held—this is a wisdom to pay attention to and invite in curiosity to help support this deep aching. Discerning and gathering sovereignty, self trust, choice, and capacity. In this episode, I also share ways to engage with #longingproject, what’s at the heart of it, what does longing really mean and why does it matter? Today Wendy explores her thoughts about shared suffering after difficult and challenging events over the last week. Moving from a place of love, together. “I want to know what you ache for but do not say,” from the poem, Rose Petals. Now is the time to move ever deeper into what longing is. I share more on that and announce a new passion project my beautiful partner and I felt inspired to create #longingproject. What does longing mean to you? Is it needy? Is needing okay? Is it naval gazing? Selfish? What if what you long for will save you? And not just you—all of us? Longing as a primary need—a navigational tool for alignment with soul—a deep, directive, inner ache. How knowing and understanding our own longings can be an embodiment of healer—an uprising that makes love and compassion and evolution possible. What is it that you long to help heal within yourself and in the world? Longing is the soul’s aspiration. Are you willing to let your aching come out of the darkness and be seen? Write down your longing (anonymously if you choose)—share it with me—with someone you love—use #longingproject on social media or share with me @shegathersbeauty, www.shegathersbeauty.com, or via email at sacredspacetherapy@gmail.com. LET'S BRING HEALING AND AWARENESS TO THAT WHICH WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO HIDE OR DISCONNECT FROM. What you care about matters deeply—what your soul is trying to point you to, it matters more than you know. Everyone’s longing should have a safe and sacred space to be seen, acknowledged, and held so that we can connect to each other in new, revolutionary ways. What will you rise up for? That is a longing. Let us share this aspiration together. Let us create an uprising of love, as a community devoted to healing and soulful evolution. I share a short presence meditation to bring some ease and comfort into your day. I have some exciting announcements coming soon about ways to work with me. Please reach out for support or drop a comment below and let me know what you long for. Sending vast love and gratitude. Thank you for listening.
Wendy Rose Williams, a two time Near Death Experiencer, who shares how she had an angelic experience when her aorta erupted in 1997. This event changed everything from then on, and led her into many paths of research and learning. Wendy went on to meet her soul mate, who helped her to wake up meeting the soul mate she contracted with to ‘wake her up spiritually’ and inspired her to have her own first past-life regression. Today Wendy addresses the raw truth of grief and navigating the unknown during a year anniversary marking when Covid-19 hit. All the “rallying” and requests to keep showing up—the exhaustion, the desire for hope and goodness, and the gift of bird’s song and the repetitive sacred cycles of nature that comes when we least expect it. What is nourishing you at this time? What can you keep choosing in order to devote yourself to this kind of heart, mind, and body salve? You are being received, seen, honored, loved, even when you can’t see it or feel it. Immense and intense challenge now—let’s normalize this. We are all moving through this—you are not alone. Please let this be a comfort. Please be gentle with yourself. Let your breath be your anchor. Just breathe love. Letting the light in—it can be uncomfortable. And that’s okay, too. It really isn’t a problem. It’s information. For our tenderness. We must hold our sweet tenderness like the most beautiful call from soul. The pericardium—letting the heart have what she wants. Locating home. Finding ground. Practicing stabilization. Resistance to connection. This too, is (w)holy. All of it. Whole & holy. Descansos—marking a significant and sacred transition. Honoring life. And death. The intersection of the inner and outer journey—where we locate ourselves in this crossroads—that, too, can be homecoming. What is home for you right now? In what ways are your longings bringing some sense of direction to your life’s course? To be wildly close to love—what does that mean for you? The frontier of heart I am learning about. I wonder how your heart is a frontier asking for your devotion and sense of adventure? The rules we place upon ourselves and the myriad ways our hearts can teach us a deeper, more boundless truth. What if fear is an invitation to trust yourself? Consider all the times in your life that you have trusted yourself. Can you build an altar of Descansos for those times, let that visual, that map, be a sacred and strengthening reminder for yourself? Trust is a practice. And it comes from the heart. What do you long to say yes to?

Today Wendy shares a vulnerable and empowering heart moment about falling in love—with herself—deeper than she ever expected, as a result of being in a committed relationship. Intimacy with the intricacy of self and how it can enliven our capacity for intimacy with another. The journey home—through the wildness and liveliness of breathing a life—a heart’s knowing. A quote from Henry David Thoreau. The wish to live deliberately. Creating space for your heart’s voice and holding the wholeness of everything living there. Practicing self-love can be held in relationship and in fact, can add to and strengthen it—making it a feast that feeds your life, the life of your partner, and the life of your love. I share a poem I wrote for the woman I love—“where communion lives”—along with the tender truth-telling it brings to the surface of me. The no-choice choice. Confronting the places of heart we’re afraid to hold. Letting the heart’s voice be the loudest. Sacred boundary with self in relationship. Being/seeing the mirror. Creating a new love language—sculpting an intimacy in service to love for ourselves and each other. Questions that can bring sweet relief: “what do I need right now? How can I give it to myself? In what ways can I be with this other human being in co-creative truth?” Scared is sacred often confused. Scared seeks safety. It’s one of the most powerful and sacred emotions we have to deliver us back to center—where communion lives. This is a form of longing and is an exquisite navigational tool. Sacred is always at the center. Gathering beauty as a way to make contact with and cultivate home. Let your body find something soothing to soften upon. Ways to look at all the ways we are in relationship daily. Somewhere inside of you, you know what’s needed for communion. May it be so. You do get to live your wildly naked truth. YOU ARE SACRED. This moment is ceremony. And so it is.

Today Wendy channels a message from the Mistress of Longing about surrender and being held. Surrender is a sacred practice and one where ultimately, we can find softness. We are reminded that we are Spirit in human form. We are invited to step into the stillness of surrender now. We are given a release ceremony— —effortlessness is available —we are being held —despair = des|pair is to be severed—or a perception of being separated—which leads to a coming back together —longing is what leads to re-union. ”Surrender is what happens in the great cathedral of life. You came here to live and have this experience as fully as possible.” ”I am here smoothing the worried wrinkles on your forehead.” If you’d like your own copy of The Mistress of Longing, you can order here https://www.amazon.com/Mistress-Longing-Wendy-Havlir-Cherry/dp/1910559512. Happy Thanksgiving guys!!We made it to 2020 holiday time!! Today Wendy and I talk about the importance of being thankful, grateful, content. So often we are solely focused on the things we don’t have or what other people have that we fall into the trap of becoming ungrateful, unhappy and sometimes depressed. There is a quote we love that says “It is not happy people that are grateful, it’s grateful people that are happy!” We wish you all a very happy thanksgiving this year. Don’t focus on the negative but instead see the good that’s around you...there is always something good.

Today Wendy speaks to the power of dreaming and the Dreamtime, the potent portal of resting into the mystery and the darkness. The opportunity to release AND receive. Practical ways of showing up in an active state of surrender by recording our dreams. Poems as thresholds to bridge the whole and holiness of mystery. I share two poems from my book, The Reach is (W)holy. “Cultivating Yin” poem. Ways to catch our undone dreams and struggles. The stirring of sadness and hope. Darkness and fear and the ability to be called into a deeper truth. Exploring the elegant edge that leads us back to the center of ourselves. Dreams that are asking for our full attention. Our ancestors asking to be honored, received, longed for, invited. Inviting grief to the table and inquiring, “what do you wish for me to know about you?” How can we be a bridge between the worlds? How can we plant new seeds while resting for ourselves, for the ones who have gone before us, and those who will come after? The darkness helps us see, know, and understand what is really living inside of what is True. We came equipped with tools to see, know, hear, and understand in various ways. What we are supposed to know and how we are supposed to be can be vastly different from what is true and longing for us. Accessing the hearth-fire of your heart for steadiness with a simple breathing practice. The powerful practice of asking yourself “what feels good?” This is a way to cultivate yin. To know and acknowledge the sacred available in the moment. And to catch, receive, hold, gather all that is needed. This “vessel” can also empty out what is needed, too. A few ways to practice recording and retrieving our dreams so we can be aware of what they want us to know, do, be. Dreams as a part of the Great Call Back—calling back all of our parts (for more on this topic, see previous episode). Weaving together all the pieces of our life in the midst of mystery unfolding. The importance of sharing our dreams, as well as helping others understand their dreams. The significance of being a reflection of the Dreamtime for our community, family, and the collective at large. Our dreams often have medicine to share and don’t just belong to us individually. “Clear Seeing” poem. How are you being written? What is your heart’s promise? Letting mystery do what it does—letting it nourish you and teach you how to trust. May you be deeply nourished. May you remember, you are sacred. May you remember, this moment is ceremony. May you remember, you get to live your wildly, naked truth.

This episode is a moment to talk about an American artist who holds a special place in the hearts of many. Wendy Rodrigue Magnus, the wife of the late George Rodrigue joins us and shares stories of George, his art and much of the early days of his painting demonstrations she experienced with him that set the stage for how she shares today. You can feel the happiness they shared and laugh at some of the stories. Wendy shares behind the scenes of the Presidential portraits George painted. Aaron recalls the giving nature of George and how he wanted people to share in art and life — like a time that Aaron and Phyllis were provided the opportunity to ride on the Blue Dog float in New Orleans and how George made their exquisite costumes. Today Wendy speaks to school students sharing original art through the Life and Legacy Foundation to those who might not ever have such an opportunity. Tune in!
The Renaissance in England brought with it the exploration of new lands as well as the invention of new technology. For William Shakespeare, the concept of using something as ordinary as a wrist watch was a brand new thought that most people had never seen before. In fact, one of the ways we even know there were wrist watches in Shakespeare’s lifetime comes from a single reference to an “arm watch” given to Queen Elizabeth I by Robert Dudley. For the regular guy on the street or in the theater, in our case, they had a different idea of what it meant to tell time, as the 16th century marked the first time anyone was trying to do it using mechanical clocks. Our guest this week is Wendy Beth Hyman, (professor of/author of} Wendy is an expert on not just how Elizabethans like William Shakespeare kept track of the hours during the day, but on specific mechanisms of those clocks, like jaquemarts, which were part of these newly invented timekeeping devices being created in Shakespeare’s lifetime. Today Wendy is here to share with us a piece of the history of time-keeping as well as to let us in on what a jacquemart is, by using references that we find in Shakespeare’s plays. It turns out that some of the words and phrases Shakespeare uses reveal some of what it was like to live in a time when the creation something ordinary, like a wrist watch or wall clock, was a completely revolutionary idea.

Today Wendy spoke to us about 10 things that she loves about Church
Wendy McClelland is a lifelong entrepreneur who started a small typing business after her divorce that eventually grew to what The New York Times called one of the best biz sites on the ‘net. She has overcome incredible odds, raising 3 children under 10 while running her growing business and then contracting E. coli, which put her in a body cast from neck to knee, having to completely stop her business and declare bankruptcy, and eventually having to relearn how to walk all together. Having overcome all of that, she was able to start over and chronicles her journey in her new book 27 Steps to Freedom: What Learning to Walk Again Taught Me About Success in Business & Life. Today Wendy provides marketing support and strategy for small to medium businesses. She joins Charlie on the show to discuss all of that and more. Key Takeaways: 03:04 – Wendy started a small typing business to help make money after getting a divorce when her kids were young. 07:09 – Wendy figured out how to build her own website, and within three weeks The New York Times had picked it as one of the best sites on the Internet. 08:43 – Wendy started out with her online business at a time when all websites were HTML and there was no social media. 10:50 – Wendy says she has had a fearless and brazen personality most of her life and considers that a blessing for her. 12:44 – While Wendy’s business was growing and doing extremely well, she then became sick with E. coli. 18:29 – When you go through a trauma, you’re not going to have that same life again that you had before, yet you still can create an amazing new life for yourself. 26:07 – When you look at all the really amazing things that you can do, to do those things you have to let go of all the little small things that you might want to do instead. So learn to say no. 27:53 – Whatever challenges you’re facing, know that there are people that have walked the path before you who can guide you.
