Join us as we celebrate a BIG milestone… It’s the 200th episode of the I Heart My Life Show! I have to be honest. I almost didn’t celebrate this exciting achievement. If you’re anything like me, you know it’s way too easy to get swept up in the hustle. It’s easy just to keep working and moving toward the next success. That’s exactly why I needed to record this episode. Until my podcast editor reached out to ask what we would be doing to celebrate this special episode, it didn’t really dawn on just how big of a deal it was. We all know that showing up consistently for a big vision takes a lot of heart, work, and dedication. That’s why it’s so important to celebrate both the big and small wins along the way. In fact, that’s one of the most important lessons this podcasting journey has taught me. We deserve (and need) to acknowledge our hard work and celebrate our achievements. It only helps propel us toward more success and even bigger victories. To help me celebrate this episode and help you find success in whatever big project you're tackling or significant milestone you’re after, I’m using this episode to share my top five takeaways that I’ve learned along this podcasting journey. These lessons aren’t just for people pursuing podcasts of their own. While I may be sharing how these lessons have helped me get this podcast to where it is today, they can be applied to any big goal you may have that requires you to show up consistently. Maybe it is a podcast. Or perhaps you’re launching a business or starting a blog. Maybe you’re looking to lose weight or save money for a big purchase. Whatever that goal is that you are after, these tips can help you get there. Follow along as I talk about everything from the importance of having a purpose behind your project to knowing when (and who) to ask for help. Learn how your why will help drive your heart and dedication (and earn you those results you’re craving). I’ll also discuss how having a team and sticking to a schedule have helped keep me on track (and how they can help you do the same). As much as this episode is a celebration of what we’ve accomplished here at IHML, it’s also a reminder for you to celebrate the milestones you achieve along whatever journey you’re on. One last thing… Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or are just finding this show, I’m so happy you’re here. This show was founded on the belief that everything you desire is not only meant for you but possible. I hope this episode, and any others you’ve listened to, enlighten and inspire you the way they have me. While I’m thrilled to have reached this incredible and rewarding milestone, I know there is still so much greatness and inspiration to come. Stay tuned, Lovely… In this episode… [01:06] I almost didn’t celebrate this milestone! [03:50] Lesson 1: Know the purpose behind what you’re doing. [06:11] Lesson 2: Know when and who to ask for help. [09:12] Lesson 3: Teach what you love. [12:22] Lesson 4: Get organized. [14:52] Lesson 5: Celebrate! (Including those little victories along the way). [17:29] A big shoutout (and many thanks) to you. Quotes: “Really think about that thing that you're moving forward with and ask yourself, does this contribute to the bigger picture? Does this contribute to the vision? Is there an actual purpose to this? Or is this just wasting time? ” -Emily Williams “Really think about what it is that you love to do and, if you are going to be consistent at something, it really helps to make sure that your heart is one hundred percent into it.” -Emily Williams “There's really no set way [to get organized], but I do find that being scheduled is really the best thing that you can possibly do [for consistency and long-term success].” -Emily Williams “If you're going to be consistent with something, our mind likes to be rewarded every step of the process. We need to make some conscious effort to remind ourselves how well we're doing to praise ourselves, show love to ourselves, and celebrate ourselves.” -Emily Williams “Celebrations along the journey [are] going to contribute to even better results. When we see and acknowledge ourselves doing a great job and praise ourselves, it shifts our energy. When we have more energy to put into the process, we'll get results faster. We'll be happier, and we'll attract even more incredible things to us because of the frequency that we're on.” -Emily Williams Links & Resources: Stay up to date with the latest episodes Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify Connect with Emily: I Heart My Life Website I Heart My Life on Instagram I Heart My Life on Facebook I Heart My Life on LinkedIn Email: info@iheartmylife.com Book a Call Episode Sponsor: I Heart My Life Mastermind

Our previous sexual experiences, even traumas, don’t have to define our approach to sexuality as we get older. As Oprah says, trauma is an explanation, not an excuse. Lisa Davis, the author of Clean Eating, Dirty Sex, joins me today to talk about releasing past traumas through clean eating and self-love. Lisa explains how we can be held back by our previous sexual experiences. She shares about a time when she was younger when she didn’t perceive herself as conventionally attractive to feeling more attractive in her later teenage years and becoming more promiscuous. For years, she felt that this was the only way she could share her sexuality and it hampered her adult relationships. When we’re holding ourselves back due to past trauma, we tend to lack a sense of ourselves. This can have a negative effect on our immune systems and mental health. Lisa shares how you can start the process of inner bonding, and indeed, why getting to this point is so important for us all. Lisa goes through some of the steps that you can take to relearn your approach to sexuality. From making the conscious decision that you’re taking responsibility for your feelings to opening up and talking about them more, every step towards acceptance and reframing helps. You can absolutely do the hard inner work on your own and use guidance from books like Clean Eating, Dirty Sex, and resources from Margaret Paul. How can you reconnect to your sense of self? Let me hear your thoughts in the comments on the episode page. If you have questions, email team@drannacabeca.com In This Episode: How we can be held back by previous sexual experiences How a lack of sense of self can impact our immune system Why you should strive for inner bonding What steps you can take to relearn your approach to sexuality How you can do the harder inner work on your own, using guidance from books Quotes: “Really developing that relationship with yourself. If you weren’t nurtured, if you were abused, if you were neglected, whatever the case is: you have to have that inner love for yourself.” (17:23) “You need to make a conscious decision that you want to take responsibility for your feelings and learn how you are causing your own anxiety, depression, guilt, and shame with your own thoughts and actions.” (23:31) “Trauma is an explanation, but it’s not an excuse. Will the actions you take today have a positive impact on tomorrow’s society? That’s a question that Sandra Lopez, VP of Intel Sports Group asks herself every day. She’s not only creating a new world of sports technology, but she’s also a diversity advocate for women in C-level careers. Sandra was named one of the 50 most powerful women in technology. One of her visions and missions is to educate the world on how to use technology correctly, in a healthy way that uplifts all of society. Overall, Sandra believes that technology creates storytelling platforms for people to truly express themselves. Technology is helping to bring our world forward by sharing knowledge and intelligence with regions that wouldn’t previously have had access to it. But what implication does tech have on our societies? Sandra explains how we can use tech in a healthier way. Sandra wants us all to think about our role in the next level of technology. How do you use technology now? Will you embrace emerging techs? Sanda believes we can all help create a dialogue just by the way that we act and do things. She’s active in bringing more diversity to the boardroom and knows she is helping to pave the way for other women in C level careers. And when there’s not adequate representation present, Sandra asks those difficult questions to find out why. Being one of the only women at C-level in her current role, and having come through corporate America as a minority, Sanda encourages more women to follow in her footsteps. But not without a caveat: you need to be mentally ready to play on an uneven playing field. How are you championing diversity and inclusion? Do you lead by example in any area of your life? How do you share your vulnerability? In This Episode: How technology is bringing our world forward in terms of knowledge and intelligence sharing What the implication of our current technology has on our societies Why you should think about what your role in the next level of technology is How you can open a dialogue by changing the way you do things How much diversity needs to be represented to get a true and objective input Why it’s important to have uncomfortable questions about diversity How you can be mentally ready for existing on an unlevel playing field Quotes: “Really think about your little actions every day. Do you really need to engage in tech or can you put it away? How much do I share on social media platforms and how much do I not share?” (15:02) “How do we make sure that we continue to use technology to lift every person up and not leave people behind.” (15:35) “The good stories are stories worth sharing because for sure it’s going to transform another person’s life.” (21:24) “Being vulnerable is okay. In the process, you build trust with your colleagues and then they know when they’re going through a tough time, I’m going to be empathetic and I’ll recognize that.” (39:20) “You can’t be talking about diversity and inclusion when you have all white men in the board room.” (42:38) Links Read Sandra’s article: Find Powerful Conversations on | | |
As adults, we often pick and nag at the things we don’t like about our bodies. This can translate into your child's vocabulary of how they talk about their own body and can create issues around food and body confidence. Now she helps teachers, parents, and caregivers raise body confident teens and kids while also examining their own internal dialogues. Dana is all about creating an environment where kids learn to take care of their bodies and feel safe and accepted regardless of what they look like. Today she is here to answer questions that came directly from you, the audience, so that you can learn how to raise kids that love their bodies. Learn everything from the importance of letting children speak, to how to set boundaries in a body-shaming home, why you should be diversifying your social media and essential tools to help you raise kids that are ultimately confident in their bodies no matter what. Asking them ‘where did you hear that, where did you learn that it is wrong to be plus-sized or it is wrong to have fat on your body?’ Because there is nothing wrong with it.” (24:36) “Kids are like sponges, and they pick up how we talk about our own bodies. They pick up what we say, but they also pick up what we don't say.” (32:58) “When you love something you do what’s best for it. And if we can teach kids to love these incredible natural machines that we were given, they will make better choices in their lives, they will take better care of themselves, and they will be more outgoing and confident in their lives.” (36:17) “Shame doesn't work, so shaming a child because they are ‘overweight’ isn't going to work. The more small pieces of work and the more content you can get out, the more likely somebody is going to see it who can employ you.” [20:35] “The stuff we put on TV today will be forgotten tomorrow. You’re only as good as your last piece of work.” [22:00] “Don’t be afraid of it. Just get it out there and don’t be afraid of what people are going to say in six months whether it’s rubbish or not.
