Megan & Kris respond to a negative TripAdvisor review for Disneyland and explore what could have been done differently on their part for a better trip.    Worst Disney Trip Ever Here is the TripAdvisor review we're responding to: Worst Trip Ever Long lines which I expected but not good with young children (6 years old) We were told that by buying advance tickets we could skip the long lines to get in. It took 1 hour in the bag search line then another hour in the ticket line. Kids were having meltdowns everywhere. Parents were frustrated. We took autograph books to get character autographs and pictures but lines to get up to see the characters were at least 60-100 people long. Two days there... got two autographs and went on two rides. So awful we just went back to hotel to swim. Fireworks were nice. We watched them from the hotel. Here's what we suggested: Get there before park opening, or "rope drop." You can get so much done in the hours between 8-10am before everyone else gets there, it's crazy! This will also allow you to get through the bag check faster. Choose the days you go wisely. Things are going to be busier during the winter holidays and weekends are going to be the busiest.  Use FASTPASS (not MaxPass) to your advantage. It's free to use and you can get a new one every two hours or whenever your current FASTPASS time has passed. Whichever comes first. Also, use Rider Swap to your advantage.  Manage your expectations. Be realistic about what you're going to be able to do.  We also give some tips on getting through security.    Conversations with Kit Kit talks about roller skating and his fun ninja class that he's been taking!   Join us on Facebook! Megan & Kris give their tips on navigating through Disneyland parade traffic. Also, Kit talks about the movie The Lion King, and Teddy talks about why he has a dot of paint on his nose.    Navigating through Disneyland Parade Traffic Know your schedule and how a parade might affect it. Be sure to get a show schedule when you enter the park or at any of the shops and look to see if there are any parades happening around the times you might have a restaurant reservation. If there is try to make sure that you're on the correct side of the park before the parade starts. The do have sections that they will allow people to cross during the parade. The easiest place to cross the parade in our opinion would be by the corn dog wagon and Coke Corner. To make things easier with all six of us, Megan wore Roddy, Kit was in the stroller (which Megan was pushing), I had Teddy on my shoulders, and Ginny was holding my hand. That way we had a hold on everyone in our party and didn't get separated. You'll want to allow an extra 20 minutes of travel if you're planning on trying to cross the park during a parade. Disney will often open up backstage passages along Main Street USA to help accommodate heavy traffic, especially after the fireworks.     Conversations with Kit Kit talks about what he likes about The Lion King. Go Mouse Scouts | Visiting Disneyland and Disney World with Kids | A Fan Podcast Bringing you Disney Park Tips & Family Fun!

Megan & Kris gave a great review of Randy Crane's (from Stories of the Magic Podcast) educational Disneyland tour. They also review their lunch at Earl of Sandwich.   Randy Crane's Educational Tour of Disneyland Review We had the wonderful privilege of taking one of Randy's customized Disneyland tours and we had a wonderful experience! A couple days before we met him at the park, we filled out a questionnaire so he could customize his tour specifically for us. He asked us where some of our favorite places around the park are, what we know already, and what we'd like to hear about. We met him at the park just after opening and we went into Disneyland. As we toured the park with Randy, it didn't feel like a traditional tour as one might think, but it was more conversational and less structured. You're basically hanging out at the park with a Disney expert. We experienced his Faith and the Magic Kingdom tour which incorporates Christian faith parallels in with the Disneyland knowledge, he does, however, also offer a non-faith-based Stories and Facts Tour, which is also very good. Throughout the tour, Randy pointed out many things to us that are right out in the open and people pass up all the time as they rush to their favorite attractions. Things like a single light bulb on Main Street that is half red and half white, or how you can tell when you're leaving Frontierland and entering New Orleans Square. All of these details come with very interesting stories behind them, and Randy is an endless fount of Disneyland knowledge! On the faith side of things, Randy shared such stories about how Walt had originally intended there to be a church on Main Street and why it never happened, but there is, in fact, a church that can be seen at the end of Main Street, and he'll tell you exactly where to look. Randy also shared with us an interesting parallel between the story of David and Goliath and the Sleeping Beauty display in Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Very interesting stuff! For more info on Randy's tours, you can email him at DLPlans@storiesofthemagic.com.   More from Randy Crane Stories of the Magic Podcast - Stories of the Magic is a positive and story-filled Disney podcast offering positive stories from Cast Members, Imagineers, artists, actors, and more–including guests–promoting a mutual love of Disney, celebrating and preserving the Disney magic, and inspiring people to live their dreams just as Walt Disney did. Faith and the Magic Kingdom Book - Disneyland is all about story, and God is a God of story––and of visual aids. “Faith and the Magic Kingdom” combines your favorite Disney theme park attractions (and more) with God's story of love, turning the park into a 3-dimensional parable. Learn to see Disneyland in a whole new way while you experience true abundant life in Christ. Once Upon Your Time Book - Seven Strategies for Gaining Control of Your Time Through a Tour of the Magic Kingdom Leaving Conformity Coaching - Randy works with Christians whose lives are out of balance helping them discover and connect to their God-given purposes and value, to build their lives to achieve true success and meaning, and to positively impact their world.   Earl of Sandwich Our lunch at Earl of Sandwich was overall pretty tasty. Kris had the Holiday Turkey Sandwich, which had pretty much a Thanksgiving dinner in it! It consisted of turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. Very tasty! Megan got the broccoli cheese soup which she liked, and the kids got pepperoni pizza bread.      Conversations with Kit Kit gives his review of our tour with Randy.    Join us on Facebook! Megan & Kris took a trip to the "Dark Side." We visited Universal Studios Hollywood and had a blast! (Don't tell Mickey Mouse.) Listen as we talk about our first experience there after 20 years and our children's first visit.   Trip Review of Universal Studios Hollywood In this trip review of Universal Studios Hollywood, we touch on the following topics:   Preparation We pretty much prepared for this the same way we prepare for our Disneyland trips. We packed our lunch and snacks and everything else we thought we'd need. We should have packed a change of clothes for Kit though…   Wizarding World of Harry Potter We were in complete awe! This place is amazing and all-encompassing down to the smallest detail. We can see how it's giving The Mouse a run for its money. And teh butterbeer is so delicious!   Olivander's Wand Shop Ginny got to participate in this experience and got to have a wand "pick her." We were a little apprehensive when she was singled out since she has a condition called selective mutism, but she did very well and the Wand Maker was very good with her even though she couldn't talk.   Back Lot Tram Ride This has changed a lot since we visited last and it's definitely not kid-friendly. The King Kong and Fast & Furious portions were terrifying for our kids, and Kit said, "I never want to go on that again."   Animal Actors Show We actually visited this show twice. It was a very fun and educational show involving trained animals. Very family friendly and had some wonderfully humorous moments. We mentioned how Megan's sister, Rachel, trains dogs and actually uses dogs to herd sheep. Check out this video on what she does! It's very interesting.     Super Silly Fun Land We mainly visited the playground and water play area which we weren't prepared for. Kit got drenched and we had to figure out what to do with him.   Waterworld Show We loved this show, especially Teddy and Kit. It was a great stunt show with action on the water and some fun surprises.   Final Thoughts This park isn't really a place for families with young children. There's really not very much that young kids can do, ride-wise, other than the Dumbo-style ride in Super Silly Fun Land. It's better to visit when your kids are a little older. It's more aimed at teens, tweens, and young adults. Our favorite things were the shows we experienced and how they handle their rider swap. In fact, if Disneyland adopted this method, it'd be a lot better for families.   Conversations with Kit Kit talks about how he liked the trip to Universal Studios Hollywood.   Join us on Facebook! Megan & Kris talk about how to maximize your time at Disneyland during a crowded day! Also, we're trying out a new format for our show. Starting with this episode, we're going to be combining the park tips and conversations with Kit into one episode and release those once per week. The reason for this is to attempt to cut back on the amount of work it takes to put out an episode. I talk more about it at the top of the show. If you like this change or have any other suggestions, please drop us a line and let us know!   How to Maximize Your Time at Disneyland Have a plan, but be flexible. You don't want to just "wing it" when visiting Disneyland. We each pick our "must do's" for the day and make those our priority. You also want to make sure to be flexible. It may be that somebody's "must do" is closed, or maybe minds are changed. Your plans aren't set in stone, so be prepared to change things up.    Start early, stay late Do as much as you can before everyone gets there and after everyone leaves. Try to get to the parks before Rope Drop and/or stay late. If the park opens at 8:00 am, you usually have a few hours before the big crowds arrive to get in as much as you can. We're frequently able to hit five or six attractions before 11. Crowds will usually start thinning too around 10 pm if you can wait them out.  Also, consider doing attractions that have long lines in the sun early when it's cooler. Peter Pan, for example, has wait times of 45–50 minutes with a good portion of the queue out in the sun. Don't blame us if you get heat stroke while waiting for Peter Pan.    Use FASTPASS Use FASTPASSes on popular attractions like Space Mountain and Indiana Jones. (Try combining them with rider swap, if you have young kids or babies, for more value.)   Use mobile apps Use apps like MouseWait and the Disneyland App to gauge wait times and adjust schedule when appropriate.   Take it slow during the day Take things slow once the big crowds get there. After all, you've already checked off most of the things on your list in the morning, right?   Conversations with Kit Kit talks about The Magic School Bus and a really cool educational kit that he got that helps him learn about the human body.    Join us on Facebook! In this episode, Megan & Kris give Five helpful tips for families visiting Disneyland.   Five Family Disneyland Tips Tag your stroller for easy ID at a distance. There're a couple ways we do this. Our favorite way to do this is to drape a blanket over the top and the stroller handle. This does two things: it makes our stroller stand out visually from the others and it also covers up what we may have in the stroller. We never keep any valuables in it, but why provide temptation to anyone to go snooping, right?   Save on souvenirs by purchasing them before your visit. This is a great way to save money at the parks. Instead of buying souvenirs there, buy them before you go, at places like Target, the Disney Store (clearance), or anywhere else, locally, that might have Disney merchandise. Then, bring them into the park with you and give them out while you're there! Your kids don't need to know that you didn't purchase them on Disney property. Here's the magical phrase: "Hey, look what I got you!"   Write your phone number on your children. The bottom line here is to make sure you can be contacted if your kids get lost. This can be done in many ways. You can buy bracelets that you can write contact and identifying information, use a sharpie to write your number on the hem of their shirt, or a pen to write on their arm.   Free Samples! Both Ghirardelli and the Boudin Bakery give free samples when you walk in. Feel free to visit the bakery, grab a sample of freshly baked sourdough bread, and learn how it's made by watching the instructional video and observing the cast members work. Then, walk across the way into the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate shop where you'll receive a free chocolate square for dessert! (Also feel free to buy one of their delicious creations!)   Free Ice Water! Free ice water can be found in the Disney parks from restaurants that offer fountain drinks. Just go in and ask! Filtered water spigots are available in the Baby Care Centers at both parks as well as at Rancho del Zocalo, the French Market, and Tomorrowland Terrace restaurants. Still tasted gross, so bring water flavoring. Also, filtered water spigots are available in the Baby Care Centers at both parks as well as at Rancho del Zocalo, the French Market, and Tomorrowland Terrace restaurants. Go Mouse Scouts | Visiting Disneyland and Disney World with Kids | A Fan Podcast Bringing you Disney Park Tips & Family Fun!

Kris & Megan talk about where you can find your kids' favorite foods at Disneyland and give some general tips for feeding picky kids there.    Feeding Picky Kids at Disneyland Feeding kids can require a certain amount of finesse. Here are our tips on making it as easy as possible. • Eat early. Having lunch around 11am and dinner around 5pm can help you avoid the more crowded times, meaning less waiting and better seating choices. • Kids’ meal sizes are on the small side. The toddler meal is small enough for a one-year-old but really too small for a two-year-old (unless yours eats like a bird). At seven years old, our oldest has nearly grown out of the kids’ meals. • Split an adult meal between two kids. It won’t come with a drink like the kids’ meals, but they can split a burger and fries, pizza, chicken strips, or something more adventurous for some extra food for them and a little savings for you.   Most quick-service eateries have some pretty standard kid dishes. Burgers: • Galactic Grill (Tomorrowland, Disneyland Park) • Hungry Bear Restaurant (Critter Country, Disneyland Park) • Red Rose Taverne (Fantasyland, Disneyland Park) • Smokejumpers Grill (Grizzly Peak, DCA)   Pizza: • Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta (Paradise Pier, DCA) • Daisy’s Diner (Mickey’s Toontown, Disneyland Park) • Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port (Tomorrowland, Disneyland Park) • Red Rose Taverne (Fantasyland, Disneyland Park)   Chicken Nuggets: • Galactic Grill (Tomorrowland, Disneyland Park) • Golden Horseshoe (Frontierland, Disneyland Park) • Hungry Bear Restaurant (Critter Country, Disneyland Park) • Smokejumpers Grill (Grizzly Peak, DCA) • Stage Door Café (Frontierland, Disneyland Park)   Turkey Sandwich: • Flo’s V-8 Café (Cars Land, DCA) • Galactic Grill (Tomorrowland, Disneyland Park) • Jolly Holiday Bakery (Main Street, Disneyland Park) • Pacific Wharf Café (Pacific Wharf, DCA) • Pluto’s Dog House (Mickey’s Toontown, Disneyland Park) • Red Rose Taverne (Fantasyland, Disneyland Park)   Power Pack: (yogurt, sliced apples, carrots, banana, and whole-grain Goldfish crackers): Disneyland Park • Harbour Galley (Critter Country) • Hungry Bear Restaurant (Critter Country) • Troubadour Tavern (Fantasyland) • Clarabelle’s (Mickey’s Toontown) • Golden Horseshoe (Frontierland) • Stage Door Café (Frontierland) • Coca-Cola Refreshment Corner (Main Street) • Galactic Grill (Tomorrowland)   DCA • Smokejumpers Grill (Grizzly Peak) • Award Wieners (Hollywood Land) • Pacific Wharf Café (Pacific Wharf)   Toddler Meals: Disneyland Park • Hungry Bear Restaurant (Critter Country) - Cheesy Macaroni • Red Rose Taverne (Fantasyland) - Cheesy Macaroni • Rancho del Zocalo (Frontierland) - Arroz con Pollo (rice and chicken), Arroz con Frijoles (rice and beans) • Galactic Grill (Tomorrowland) - Cheesy Macaroni • Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port (Tomorrowland) - Cheesy Macaroni • Pluto’s Dog House (Mickey’s Toontown) - Cheesy Macaroni   DCA • Smokejumpers Grill (Grizzly Peak) - Cheesy Macaroni • Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill (Pacific Wharf) - Arroz con Pollo • Pacific Wharf Café (Pacific Wharf) - Cheesy Macaroni • Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta (Paradise Pier) - Cheesy Macaroni   Other: • Bean and cheese burrito - Rancho del Zocalo (Frontierland, Disneyland Park) • Chicken taco - Rancho del Zocalo (Frontierland, Disneyland Park) • Turkey hot dog - Coca-Cola Refreshment Corner (Main Street, Disneyland Park) • Macaroni and cheese - Jolly Holiday Bakery (Main Street, Disneyland Park) • Spaghetti and meatballs - Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port (Tomorrowland, Disneyland Park) • Turkey hot dog - Pluto’s Dog House (Mickey’s Toontown, Disneyland Park) • Macaroni and cheese - Flo’s V-8 Café (Cars Land, DCA) • Roast Beef sandwich - Flo’s V-8 Café (Cars Land, DCA) • Turkey hot dog - Award Wieners (Hollywood Land, DCA) • Bean and cheese burrito - Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill (Pacific Wharf, DCA) • Chicken quesadilla - Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill (Pacific Wharf, DCA) • Chicken and brown rice - Lucky Fortune Cookery (Pacific Wharf, DCA) • Turkey meatball sandwich - Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta (Paradise Pier, DCA) • Spaghetti and meatballs - Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta (Paradise Pier, DCA)   Water • Drink plenty of water, especially when it’s hot. • Any place with fountain drinks will give you a cup of ice water or ice for free. • Refill your water bottles at drinking fountains throughout the parks. Try flavor packets or drops if you’re picky about the taste of the Anaheim tap water. • Consider a water bottle with a built-in filter to improve the taste.     Come Join Our Facebook Group! In this episode, Megan & Kris talk about some ways to make great memories at Disney parks!   Making Disney Memories Here are five ways you can capture and make great Disney memories: Take lots of photos and have Disney cast members take photos for you too! (Hint: they'll even use your own camera or cell phone too, just ask!) Be present with each other. Don't constantly be on your phone or let your kids have their earbuds in all the time. Enjoy each other's company! Plan and do something nice for a cast member or another family. This can be anything from genuinely thanking them or passing forward an act of kindness. Get creative! Doing something nice for someone else as a family will give you that wonderful memory and bring you closer together.  Have a nice meal together and reflect on what you've done so far. People connect when dining together.  Look for "magic moments" that are in abundance at the Disney parks! Things like playing musical chairs with Alice and the Mad Hatter near Coke Corner and other interactions with cast members.    Come Join Our Facebook Group! Kris & Megan talk about the top 5 reasons your kids might have meltdowns and how to avoid them.    Avoiding Meltdowns at Disney Here are the top five reasons your kids might have meltdowns while visiting Disneyland or Walt Disney World.    They're Hungry/Thirsty Just because you're at the Disney Parks doesn't mean your kids will ignore their normal eating schedule. Keep this in mind and try to have snacks ready for their normal eating times if your next meal is going to be a little later than normal.    They're Tired Same thing here. If your young kids and babies are used to a nap schedule, keep this in mind. You may not be able to get them to nap at the parks, but at least it'll give you some understanding as to their behavior. We'd suggest having some "quiet time" and finding an out of the way area to get away from all the busyness of the park.    They're Hot/Cold Try to keep your kids body temperature in mind while you're at the parks. Especially if you're babywearing or if your kids are in hot costumes.    They Need to Run Around Sometimes your kids will need to get out and expend some energy. Especially if they've been sitting in a stroller or up in a baby carrier all day. Let them down to walk along with you if they're able or find a play area like Princess Dot's Puddle Park in DCA.   They're Overstimulated There's so much to see, smell, taste, hear, and feel at the Disney parks, it's easy for young kids to get overstimulated. Be aware of that and try to find ways where your kids can tune to the outside world, like in the stroller, or to be able to turn inward to you if they're being worn.    Come Join Our Facebook Group! We found that while a Disneyland trip will be expensive (but totally worth it), you might be surprised to find that with a little forethought and planning, it can be within your reach! In this short ebook, we’ve grouped our tips into three main categories: tips on saving and collecting extra money for your trip, saving on the trip itself, and ways to save at the parks on food and souvenirs. We even added five bonus tips on some free and inexpensive things you can do at Disneyland! Sign up for our email list (below) and we'll email it right out to you! We'll also let you know when our Guide to Visiting Disneyland with Young Kids is released and keep you up to date on news, contests, and our latest podcast episodes. Go Mouse Scouts | Visiting Disneyland and Disney World with Kids | A Fan Podcast Bringing you Disney Park Tips & Family Fun!

Megan & Kris talk about what's scary at California Adventure (Disneyland Park is in a past episode) for young kids preschool aged and younger.   Fear's Guide to What's Scary at California Adventure We're mainly pointing out California Adventure Attractions that can be scary for kids 5 and under (preschool age) or a 40 inch height requirement and lower.   Hollywoodland Monsters Inc: This ride is a dark ride and features monsters. If your kids are familiar with the movie Monsters Inc., the monsters really aren't scary at all. Parents, use your discretion.   Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout!: Having not opened as of the time of this recording, we really can't speak to this attraction, though it can be assumed that it will still be thrilling, especially since they're not changing the ride concept.    Bugs Land It's Tough to Be a Bug: This is a 3D show that features startling aspects, smells and other interactive elements. Also, the villain from the movie, Hopper, makes an appearance which may be frightening to young ones.  All Rides are ok: This is basically a "kiddie land," with all rides being designed specifically for young children.    Cars Land Radiator Springs Racers: This is a dark ride, as well as a thrill ride. The beginning bakes you through various scenes from the movie Cars as you're gearing up for a race, which takes up the second half of the ride as you speed through a race course. A couple things you'll encounter in the dark ride portion are the harvester vehicle and an oncoming train.  Luigi's Rollicking Roadsters: There's nothing really scary about this ride.  Mater's Junkyard Jamboree: This is a ride in which you ride in trailers that spin around. It can tend to be a little rough and if your child doesn't like spinning, you might want to move onto something else.    Paradise Pier Little Mermaid: This is a dark ride that features scenes from the classic movie The Little Mermaid, including a scene with Ursula, the sea witch, which may be scary for young kids.  Toy Story Midway Mania: This is another dark ride which is a fun interactive game. Between sections though, the cars spin rather vigorously and may be an issue for youngsters.  Triton's Carousel: It's a carousel, have fun!  Mickey's Fun Wheel: This is basically a Farris Wheel with some fun modifications! Some of the gondolas (which you can choose) are on a track the makes it swing more than a normal gondola would swing. Plus, you have the heights. The gondolas are enclosed though, so it's safe.  Mickey's Silly Symphony Swings: The issues you'll deal with here are swinging and heights.  Jumping Jellyfish: This is a ride that takes you up high, and then lowers you down again. Think if it as a kiddie version of the Hollywood Tower of Terror without the "terror." Goofy's Sky School: This is a mini roller coaster with sharp hairpin turns and extreme ups and downs. It's a little rough too and the vantage points might be scary for young kids riding with you.    Grizzly Peak Grizzly River Run: this is a fun raft ride that takes you through some rapids with plenty of spins, drops, and water. It is a bit if a thrill ride, and you will get wet! Soaring' Around the World: This is a wonderful ride that basically takes you up into a video projection transporting you to different places around the world as if you're visiting them via hang glider, granted, a very large hang glider that seats about 75 people. Simulated heights would be the biggest scare factor here.      Come Join Our Facebook Group! Go Mouse Scouts | Visiting Disneyland and Disney World with Kids | A Fan Podcast Bringing you Disney Park Tips & Family Fun!

Megan & Kris talk about what's scary at Disneyland Park (Disney California Adventure is in the next episode) for young kids preschool aged and younger.   Fear's Guide to What's Scary at Disneyland We're mainly pointing out Disneyland Attractions that can be scary for kids 5 and under (preschool age) or a 40 inch height requirement and lower.   Adventureland Jungle Cruise: This ride is mostly fine for kids, but there are a few things to consider. The animatronic animals may seem to be real to kids and therefore may be scary. The skipper a one point fires a loud cap gun, and at the end of the cruise, loud man-eating piranhas make an appearance right next to the boat. Don't worry though, they're only man-eating piranhas. Women and children are fine. :) Tarzan's Treehouse: At one point during the climb to the top, there's a loud tiger hiss that may startle youngsters. The Enchanted Tiki Room: This is a show in the dark which might make youngsters uncertain. There's a point during the show where the totems on the wall start to play and sing and also, near the end of the show, sudden thunder rings out which is kind of a jump scare.   New Orleans Square Pirates of the Caribbean: This ride is a dark ride, so that atmosphere in general may be scary. It also features drops, skeletons, cannons, simulated fire, and a projected waterfall that the character Davy Jones from the movie appears. Haunted Mansion: This is the Haunted mansion. Everything is scary for a youngster! Be prepared for screaming and jump scares as well as general spookiness.   Critter Country Splash Mountain: I think this one is obvious with the 50 foot drop at the end, but there are a couple dark spots in the ride and at the end the mood of the ride gets very sad and sorrowful that little ones might pick up on. Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: The only thing in this ride that might be scary would be the heffelumps and woozles portion of the ride which is very bright & stimulating, and generally strange. It might make youngsters uncomfortable.   Frontierland Mark Twain Riverboat and Columbia Boats: When these are running, the both have loud noises they make in the ways of whistles, bells, and cannons. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: This is a wild train ride troller coaster, so the speed and sharp turns my be unsavory for young kids. That said, it also takes you through dark tunnels including one that looks like it's about to collapse onto the train.   Fantasyland Quick note about dark rides in general: The setting for these rides may be generally scary for youngsters considering they are rides through different scenes in the dark. Snow White Scary Adventures: This ride is designed to be scary. The evil queen follows you throughout the ride chasing you through scary woods and dungeons with malevolent intent. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride: This whimsical ride takes you through various scenes, one of which features an oncoming train and then hell and the devil. Pinocchio: There are a few scenes in this ride that could be scary for kids that feature Monstro the Whale, Pleasure Island scenes, and Stromboli. Alice & Wonderland: This ride features strange scenes from Alice in Wonderland, many including the Queen of Hearts in all her rageful glory. Peter Pan: There's nothing really to mention here except that some of the scenes are dark. Nothing really scary though. Carousel: There's nothing really scary about this ride. Casey Jr Circus Train: There's nothing really scary about this ride. Storybook Land Cruise: There's nothing really scary about this ride, except at the beginning you sail into the mouth of a whale. Teacups: There's nothing really scary about this ride unless your kids don't like spinning. Dumbo: The only thing that may be scary about this ride is heights. it's a small world: There's nothing really scary about this ride.   Mickey's Toontown Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin: This ride takes you through scenes from Roger Rabbit. You encounter evil weasels, explosions, and general strangeness. There's also the added feature that the car spins around. Gadget's Go Coaster: This is a small roller coaster designed for young thrill seekers. If your kids aren't up to it, you might want to pass.   Tomorrowland Finding Nemo Submarines: This is a ride in a dark enclosed submarine. It features dark parts, explosions, and the scary looking angler fish from the Finding Nemo movie for a nice jump scare. Space Mountain: This is a roller coaster in the dark. Enough said. Star Tours: This is a simulated 3D flight with surprising moments and adventure. Nothing specifically to point out except sometimes it seems your shuttle is in danger. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters: This is a ride in the dark which features many scenes with aliens, Emperor Zurg, and of course Buzz Lightyear. Some of the scenes might be scary, but I think the game aspect of it sort of counteracts it. Autopia: This is a nice ride through an outside track. Nothing really scary here, unless you happen to get rear ended by the car behind you which might be surprising.   Come Join Our Facebook Group! Megan & Kris give some tips on how to have an Educational Disneyland trip!  I would rather entertain and hope that people learned something than educate people and hope they were entertained. — Walt Disney   Having an Educational Disneyland Trip Megan & Kris have three schools of thought when it comes to finding Education at Disneyland: 1. Education You Can Bring (In Line Education) • Flash cards in line • Drills on math concepts • Bringing a book to read aloud while in line • Have younger kids look for letters, colors, read clocks, etc.   2. Disney's Educational Offerings: • Animation Academy • Sourdough Bread Factory • Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln • Redwood Creek Challenge Trail   3. Education You Can Find: Having discussions.  Here are some topics to get you started: • Cartoons Then vs Now • Cars Land & Route 66 • Grizzly Peak: National Parks • Time Periods - Turn of the Century America • Jungle Cruise - Discussion on Animals • Frontierland - Early American Settlers • Mark Twain River Boat - American History • Tom Sawyers Island - Literature, Mark Twain • New Orleans Square - Mardi Gras • Tomorrowland - Space Travel, Technology • Main Street Train Station - History on Steam Power and Trains • Disneyland History   Come Join Our Facebook Group! Megan & Kris respond to a question from the Disneyland Subreddit and talk about planning a longer Disneyland trip! Here's the question on Reddit: I'm taking my family to Disneyland at the end of April and I'm trying to plan ahead as much as possible. When we go we will have a 4 year old and a 10 month old. We purchased 5 day single park tickets with the plan to go to Disneyland 3 days and California Adventures 2 days. Does that split sound about right or should I upgrade to park hopper tickets and plan on 3.5 days in DL and 1.5 in CA? We are hoping with 5 days we could be more casual with the pace where we can go back to the hotel and take naps each day, does that sound reasonable? It seemed like their immediate question was sufficiently answered in the comments on Reddit, so we took it a step further and gave some tips on planning and sustaining yourselves during a longer Disneyland trip.    Planning a Longer Disneyland Trip Sustaining yourselves for a long trip.  • Don't rush.  • Take down time at hotel during mid day. • Plan some things other than rides for mid day if they stay at the parks (while things are busy (Take our scavenger hunt!) • Have a plan for each day, but be flexible Tips Maximizing time.  • Rope Drop • Fast passes • Rider Switch • Download a wait times app (Mouse Wait, Disneyland App)   Come Join Our Facebook Group! Megan & Kris answer a question from Chris, a new friend who found our about us from The Sweep Spot podcast. (Thanks guys!) He asks: What are some of the uncommon things you like to do with your kids at Disneyland?   Uncommon Things for Kids at Disneyland Here are some of the "uncommon things" we enjoy with our kids at Disneyland and DCA. • Catch some of the "street shows" at Disneyland and DCA like the green toy soldiers at Paradise Pier, Five & Dime, Red Card Newsboys, Golden Horseshoe revue. • Alice & the Mad Hatter - Musical chairs on Main Street and a "Dance Party" in the courtyard just inside the castle. • Citizens of Buena Vista Street: Molly and Milly the Messengers, Donna the Dog Lady, Officer Calvin Blue and Phi Phi Francis the Photographer. • Go to sourdough factory and watch how the bread is made. • Animation academy where they teach you how to draw. • Starting up the scream factory: right after rope drop before they let people into the Monsters Inc ride, they hold a screaming contest to start up the ride. • Candy making areas: Candy Palace on Main Street and Pooh Corner at Disneyland Park, and Trolley Candy Treats at DCA. • Watch "Disney Secrets" videos on youtube and then go find them yourselves at the park.     Come Join Our Facebook Group!
