This week, even more things coming to the Disneyland Resort for the 70th, a sneak peek into the Walt animatronic, a new character coming to Avengers Campus, bananas are invading Disneyland later this month, fire heroes were honored, new seating was added to New Orleans Square, we talk to Artist Jerrod Maruyama, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: More and more keeps being announced for the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland. A new light, sound, and projection moment will be coming to Carthay Circle and Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. The moment will be set to the tune “Celebrate Happy,” the theme song for the anniversary. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/guide-to-the-70th-anniversary-at-disneyland-resort/ We have some new details about the Walt Disney animatronic experience coming to the Opera House in July. Various media outlets were invited to the Imagineering campus to see the life-sized concept sculpt, and to learn more about the show. Walt's voice in the show will be his own, with clips of his actual voice were painstakingly assembled from interviews. The animatronic itself is very lifelike. The posture, facial structure, and skin texture are “uncanny” according to MiceChat. – https://www.micechat.com/414430-disneyland-walt-disney-a-magical-life-revealed/ Another character from the Marvel Universe will be dropping by Avengers Campus for a limited time. Red Guardian, who first appeared in Black Widow, and is featured in the new movie Thunderbolts, will be meeting and greeting with guests. You can be sure to find him by checking the Disneyland App. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/meet-the-super-amazing-red-guardian-at-avengers-campus/ If you are going to be in Avengers Campus heading into Cars Land, or the other way around in the near future, be aware that the path between the two by Luigi's is closed. This has been done for construction of a new restroom facility to compliment the new additions to Avengers Campus currently under construction. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ May the 4th was this weekend and the Disney Parks Blog shared a recipe from A Galaxy Far, Far Away. The Felucian Falafel and Hummus Garden Spread from Docking Bay 7 may take some planning – with one step taking from 12-18 hours – but is sure to be a tasty treat! – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/disney-eats-exclusive-plant-based-star-wars-day-recipe/ Later this month, a fun team will be visiting the parks. The Savannah Bananas, a baseball team similar to the Harlem Globetrotters, will be at Disneyland on May 28, 2025. Special entertainment moments, and themed food and beverages will be on hand to celebrate. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/savannah-bananas-disneyland-may-28/ On Monday, May 5, there was a Heroes Salute Cavalcade to honor the first responders of the fires back in January. The Heroes ticket also kicked off to coincide with the cavalcade. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHGVwxv9H1E A rather abrupt change has come to New Orleans Square. The Port Royal Curios and Curiosities shop, right next to the Royal Street Veranda, has been changed into a seating area for diners. Since the shop duplicated the merchandise which can be found at Madame Leota's “Somewhere Beyond” shop, the old location was not needed. The decor was not updated much, except to turn it into a jazzy looking speakeasy. Tables and chairs are scattered about for guests to get out of the heat and find a place to eat. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ At the Emporium on Main Street, there are a set of windows that are decorated with animated scenes from Disney classics. Some of them have been in rough shape in recent times, but they are currently being refurbished for the 70th. No word on when they will be completed, but work is underway. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ SnackChat: 70th Foodie Guide – Disney Eats: Disneyland 70th Celebration Foodie Guide  – Disney Parks Blog Discussion Topic: Freelance artist Jerrod Maruyama https://www.instagram.com/jmaruyama/

This week, the Disneyland Railroad is coming back, a new dining location is opening, a higher priced Lightning Lane is coming, Tiana's Bayou Adventure is open to Magic Key holders, we have a preview, a new photo op in Disneyland, we talk to Scott about Nurses Day in the Park, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: It seems like just last week new tracks were being laid down for the Disneyland Railroad. This Friday, October 25th, the Disneyland Railroad will carry guests around the park on a grand circle tour once again. The track and ballast, the rocky part under the track, was replaced from Toontown Depot to Tomorrowland Station. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/10/20/reopening-date-revealed-for-disneyland-railroad-refurbishment/ Another location is returning on Friday. The Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree will be offering their new menu of barbecue dishes. The updated location is themed to the Country Bears and their travels around great music halls in the United States. – https://www.micechat.com/392141-the-bears-are-back-hungry-bear-restaurant-gets-a-country-bear-makeover/ Starting today, a new Lightning Lane experience will debut at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. The Lightning Lane Premiere Pass will allow guests one-time entry to each Lightning Lane experience without the need to book a return time in the Disneyland App, or buy a Lightning Lane Single Pass. This, of course, comes with a downside. The Premiere Pass will cost somewhere between $300-$400, per guest, per day. – https://www.micechat.com/395044-disney-lightning-lane-and-virtual-queue-tips-and-tricks/ https://disneyland.disney.go.com/lightning-lane-passes/lightning-lane-premier/ The first guests experienced Tiana's Bayou Adventure on Monday. Magic Key holder previews began and we got our first glimpse into what the Disneyland version of the attraction is like. Key holders needed to join a virtual queue to ride, but those that were successful were able to be among the first in the attraction. The Disneyland version is much better paced than the Magic Kingdom version, with a lot of animatronics and almost no slowdown of the story or show scenes. Visit the link in our show notes if you want to see the first ridethrough. – https://www.micechat.com/262305-breaking-news-splash-mountain-to-become-princess-and-the-frog-themed/ We have an explanation for the holidays creeping in on the Halloween festivities at Disneyland. In the last couple of weeks, snow has been appearing on Sleeping Beauty Castle, way before the end of Halloween. We found out why this week. Performances for the upcoming holiday specials were filmed this week, which needed the decorations. John Legend was in the park on Friday to record his segment. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ There is another fun photo option available for guests back in Star Wars Galaxys Edge. For $39.99, guests get a photo shoot, up to nine poses, in a themed area with special lighting and props to enhance the photos. Two 6×8 prints and four wallet size prints are included. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ Weeklyteers don't have to go into the parks to have some Halloween fun. The Disneyland Hotel has a lot of activities for the season to keep people busy. Pumpkin carving and decorating, and musical performances of The Ghoulish Gals are all happening. For the dates and times, visit the link in our show notes. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ Guests watching Fantasmic! have been getting a much different show recently. The Kaa snake in the Jungle Book sequence has been missing for over a week, Maleficent hasn't been growing in the climactic battle, and much less pyro is being used throughout the show. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ The LEGO store in Downtown Disney is closed for refurbishment, but that doesn't mean there isn't some fun to be had. On Saturday, October 26th and Saturday, November 2nd, the LEGO Store is hosting a make-and-take castle build activity. Participants will build a small LEGO creation that they will be able to keep. The event will happen outside the closed store location. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ We talked about the renaming of the lounge at the Disneyland Hotel to the Broken Spell Lounge. The Disney Eats Instagram page made the name official with an opening date of October 21st. News: D23 is this weekend and there are some fun items that have been previewed! There will be a “Logo Play” collection which features park iconography, Haunted Mansion 55th anniversary collection, five vinyl character sets, Disney Designer Dolls Midnight Masquerade, new Star Wars clothing and collectibles - like a limited-edition Starspeeder 3000, and more! If you aren't attending in person, there are also some things launching on DisneyStore.com on August 12 at 8am Disneyland time. - https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/first-look-d23-the-ultimate-disney-fan-event-must-haves/ https://www.micechat.com/392723-d23-expo-merchandise/ The Disney Parks social media team teased two new villains coming to Oogie Boogie Bash. The teaser showed a Baby carriage, then a vase that seems to show Hercules like artwork, then a control panel that pans to a chair with a lab coat. Online folks are thinking it is Hades and Dr. Doofenshmirtz from “Phineas and Ferb.” - https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-Ij_YIJAMV/ With Oogie Boogie Bash only a few weeks away, some new merch has been unveiled for the event. A Minnie Winifred Sanderson sipper will be on sale at Hollywood Lounge, and the 2024 Oogie Boogie Bash Collection featuring a t-shirt, hoodie, headband, and more. The collection is available at Elias & Co., Gone Hollywood and the Merchandise Marketplace. - https://disneyland.disney.go.com/events-tours/disney-california-adventure/oogie-boogie-bash-halloween-party/ The Happiest Haunts Tour has returned for 2024. The tour is a 2-hour walking tour around Disneyland, offering a history of Halloween and Halloween tales, Lightning Lane access to an attraction, reserved viewing for Halloween Screams, a photo op for the Hitchhiking Ghosts, and a collectible pin and trading cards. The tour is $120 per person and can be reserved 60 days in advance. - https://www.micechat.com/393233-disneyland-update-dead-er-together-d23-screams-haunted-happenings/ A new dining experience is coming to Storyteller's Cafe in the fall. Mickey's Autumn Adventures is coming to the location starting September 3rd. Characters will be dressed in new Fall attire for breakfast or brunch. - https://www.micechat.com/393233-disneyland-update-dead-er-together-d23-screams-haunted-happenings/ https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/08/04/reservations-now-open-for-disneys-special-fall-dining-experience/#more-960257 One of our favorite eateries in Downtown Disney has two locations for a limited time! Earl of Sandwich is now open at the temporary food truck near Star Wars Trading Post. The previous location near the esplanade is still open now as well. - https://www.micechat.com/393233-disneyland-update-dead-er-together-d23-screams-haunted-happenings/ Now that the Haunted Mansion is open for virtual queue guests, there are some new additions and changes spotted this year to the attraction. One that changes every year is the gingerbread house in the ballroom scene. This year it is a Dr. Finkelstein house that is trying on different gingerbread heads for the gingerbread body on the house. The Marc Davis bat in a cage has returned, but this year is in the hallway with the breathing doors. Two new jack-in-the-box figures are at the end of the attic, where the bride is usually at, and finally the ghosts who follow you home in the mirrors at the end are now projections, but you almost can't tell! - https://www.micechat.com/393233-disneyland-update-dead-er-together-d23-screams-haunted-happenings/ Another new tiki mug is coming to Trader Sam's. Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: We are recording a day earlier than usual this week, so it is Haunted Mansion Holiday reopening day! The Haunted Mansion has reopened with a virtual queue only option with the majority of the queue still under construction. Guests will need to go into the Disneyland App at 7am or 12pm to try and snag a spot in the virtual queue. For the 7am slot, you do not need to be in the park, but you do need to have scanned into either park before securing a spot for the noon opportunity. – https://www.micechat.com/365986-disneyland-shocker-haunted-mansion-expansions/ Guests that were able to get a virtual queue for the attraction and post video and photos online allowed us to see what has been updated and changed. The exterior queue feels very much like the queue previously, but the walkway is now wide enough for three lines; one for standby, one for Lightning Lane, and one for ADA exit. The hearse has been moved closer to the entrance, and the detail on the path is excellent. The Lightning Lane scan points are now closer to the entrance to the mansion itself. – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JWEG3BJyuU Haunted Mansion Holiday opening is signaling the approaching Halloween season! Magic Keyholders had the opportunity to purchase some of the new merchandise for the holiday starting July 27th at World of Disney. Some of the items included a Spirit Jersey with a tie dye design, a candy corn inspired Loungefly bag, a spooky purple tee, candy corn inspired ears, and more! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/07/24/exclusive-new-souvenir-perk-announced-for-annual-passholders-in-disneyland/ In a stunning move, Disney California Adventure is now home to Deadpool and Wolverine. In the movies, Deadpool is a hard R-rated character, but is family friendly in the park. Together with Wolverine, the “Story Time with Deadpool” show is very fun to watch and is held in the courtyard of the Hyperion, between Guardians and the Hyperion. Deadpool has also shown up in the “Awesome Dance Off,” and “Avengers Assemble” shows in Avengers Campus. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/07/27/i-am-shocked-and-grateful-that-disney-let-these-2-characters-into-a-park/ More Encanto is coming to the resort, according to a casting call online. There is already a Mirabel meet and greet, but this call is looking for a Mirabel who can sing! It is listed as a limited-time offering, so it could be for the holidays, or a limited-time show, or something else. However, any Encanto in the park is better than no Encanto! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/07/26/we-found-a-clue-that-a-new-encanto-show-is-coming-to-a-disney-park/ In a bit of possible good news for Cast Members, Disney and the UFCW 324 union have reached an agreement. No details have come out and the official vote to accept the agreement takes place on July 29 (the day we recorded this episode) to accept the terms. Generally, it appears that the proposed 3-year contract contains significant wage increases for all cast members, seniority increases, and additional premiums, as well as the retention of premiums. There are also possible attendance policy changes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/07/24/unions-representing-14000-cast-members-reach-deal-with-disney/ In some parks-adjacent news, Hocus Pocus fans have a unique opportunity in Salem, Massachusetts. On September 20th fans can enter the Old Town Hall for an exclusive “I Put a Spell on You Masquerade.” The party will feature a DJ dance party, bars, souvenir gift bags, and, of course, live performances by the Sanderson Sisters! A limited number of early bird tickets are on sale at the link in our show notes starting at $150, plus fees for general admission and $215, plus fees for VIP admission which includes an autographed copy of the book “Hocus Pocus in Focus”, a photo op with the Sanderson Sisters, and more. – https://www.micechat.com/392749-hocus-pocus-masquerade-party/ SnackChat Tiana's Palace – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disneyland/tianas-palace/menus Discussion Topic: Casey Robin – https://www.caseyrobin.com/ Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/caseyrobin/ Wildermage Games – https://www.wildermagegames.com/

(micechat.com) An interesting observation was made by the crew over at MiceChat this week. Some lamp posts at Jolly Holiday, Rancho del Zocalo, and the Pirates of the Caribbean bridge have been removed. This is likely related to the lamp post blowing over a few months ago in Town Square. – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Goodbyes, Last Hurrahs & New Horizons! Let's look a little closer and see what tech makes Disneyland tick. We might even find some reasons for the baffling problems we experience on our trips to the parks. Mickey's Toontown has been pushed back from March 8th to March 19th due to weather delaying the work. - https://www.micechat.com/307775-disneylands-toontown-closing-in-2022-for-enhancements/ Last week, Disney held their quarterly earnings call where Bob Iger commented about adding more capacity to the theme parks. He mentioned that with the success of Avatar at the box office and at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida, that an Avatar Experience would be coming to Disneyland in the future. What was left question was in what form this would take place! - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Also on the earnings call, Iger addressed the higher pricing and capacity mix. He stated that they are listening to guests who feel that they are being priced out of the parks by lowering prices on some of the experiences. He also mentioned that he didn't feel that the annual increase in ticket pricing was too much above the rate of inflation at Disneyland. In regards to the capacity mix, they have been aiming for more of the mix to be once in a lifetime guests who spend more in a single visit that passholders. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ - https://www.ocregister.com/2023/02/09/disneyland-ticket-prices-have-not-really-increased-that-much-in-recent-years-disney-ceo-says/ There has been a rash of mis-spellings of signs and statues all over the resort since the Disney100 started to roll in. Incorrect years on attractions and movie premiere dates, coming soon signage on Indy, and the Mickey statue in town square with "It all started with a mouse" instead of "It was all started by a mouse." Disney has been quick to fix these snafus around the parks. There was a new one for the Super Bowl cavalcade that came and went without a fix, mentioning "Main Stret" instead of "Main Street." - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Even more things are coming to the resort for Celebrate Soulfully at Disney California Adventure. Moon Girl from the new Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur on Disney+ will be coming for some meet and greets. Guests who are there when she premieres will get to see a cavalcade and stage show for that day only. - https://twitter.com/Disneyland/status/1623734510465478664 - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/02/moon-girl-magic-comes-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ Fans of Catal and Uva bar should get their last visits in soon! The location will be closing mid-April to transform into Centrico and Paseo, a new up-scale Mexican restaurant. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Can you believe that Disney California Adventure turned 22 this past week? To celebrate, the Disneyland App has a limited-time PhotoPass+ lens through February 21. The lens transforms guests into a Newsboy from the show that has still has yet to return to the park. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Part of Steakhouse 55 could be reopening soon! The curtains that we reported on being in place a couple of weeks ago have come down and the lounge part looks ready to welcome guests. MiceChat reports that staff is already training for the location. No word on a reopening date. The restaurant section of Steakhouse 55 has seen no updates. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Finally on the call, Bob Iger noted that of the 7,000 job cuts that are taking place around the company, none of them are expected to impact park operations. This is good news since the parks are already not back to fully staffed since reopening after the COVID closure. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/disneys-workforce-cuts-to-impact-all-sections-of-company-will-not-impact-hourly-park-operations-cast/ There had been some confusion with the ending to World of Color - ONE. Guests were unsure when the ending of the show was and would start to leave at the long pause just before the main finale. It appears that Disney has updated the show to tighten up the ending, making it more clear when the show was actually over. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/video-world-of-color-one-finale-changed-due-to-guest-confusion-at-disney-california-adventure/ Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway has been a great addition to Disneyland and with it came some new looks for Cast Members. Now, the rest of Toontown has some colorful costumes to match! Taking a cue from Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, the costumes are mix and match for the cast members to pick an outfit that they like and can personalize. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/first-look-new-mickeys-toontown-cast-member-mix-and-match-costumes/ Discussion Topic Russell Flores, Author of Seen, Un-Seen Disneyland https://www.facebook.com/seenunseendisneyland/ https://www.instagram.com/seenunseendisneyland/ https://sudbooks.company.site/

February, 2022 will be Magic Keyholder Celebration Month. Disneyland announced the month long celebration of Key Holders happening in the parks, Downtown Disney, and at home! No specific details have been released on what will be offered in February, but we will keep you posted as news is released. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/16/disneyland-magic-key-holders-prepare-to-be-celebrated-for-a-whole-month-next-year/ An unhappy Magic Key Holder has filed a lawsuit against Disney for “deceiving it's most loyal fan base by artificially limiting theme park capacity and blocking passholders with ‘no blockout' annual passes from making reservations.” The lawsuit is a $5 million dollar suit filed on behalf of all Disneyland Magic Key holders claiming that Disney “relegated them to ‘second class' ticket holders by artificially limiting Magic Key reservations and the number of passholders that can visit on any given day.” Disneyland has said that they will “vigorously defend our position as the case proceeds.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/12/16/disneyland-passholder-lawsuit-alleges-magic-key-deceptively-advertises-no-blockout-dates/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/20/disney-responds-to-5-million-magic-key-and-park-reservation-lawsuit/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/magic-key-terms-conditions/ When we were in the parks a couple of weeks ago, there were quite a few PhotoPass photographers who were trying to take amazing photos, and control the crowds at the same time. This week, it appears that they have received some help at Sleeping Beauty Castle with rops to direct guests around the optimal PhotoPass photo area. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ For guests that have been pre-screened for the Disability Access Service or DAS (pronounced DAAHS) now have a new option available in the Disneyland App. Return times can be reserved through the app after the service has been linked to a ticket, making it unncessary to visit with a guest relations cast member to make a reservation. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ Single bobsled riders should take note of this next news item. The single rider line has moved at the Matterhorn from the area where the Lightning Lane return area was, to the right side exit of the attraction, towards the teacups. This should help alleviate at least some of the congestion that can happen where the three lines come together at the entrance. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ With the opening of the Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe on Main Street, the holiday shop in Fantasyland has been re-themed. The location, now called Merlin's Marvelous Miscellany, received a new sign sporting the new name last week. No information on what will be offered in the shop just yet. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ The Disney Parks Blog has some festive holiday digital wallpapers available for download. Each design comes in mobile, desktop, and Apple Watch versions for all screen sizes. Sage Energy Consulting is working with the Anaheim Transportation Network to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce electricity costs, and charge the new vehicles. Some of the charging stations are solar powered, and work with batteries to store power when the sun is out, and charge the busses when it is a cloudy day, or at night. The goal is to have a 100% electric fleet by 2025. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/17/how-your-ride-to-disneyland-will-be-different-in-the-future/ Fans of soccer, or football as it is known everywhere else in the world, now have a place to shop in Downtown Disney. Pele, named after the legendary Brazilian soccer player, opened this last week. The store is themed like a stadium, and offers a variety of soccer gear from global sports brands. News: Extended hours for the parks haven't returned yet, but Magic Key Holders can experience something almost as good. From September 20th through October 7th, Magic Key Holders can ride Haunted Mansion Holiday after park closing for an additional hour Mondays through Thursdays! A valid park reservation and proof of Magic Key will be required to ride. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/09/16/the-exclusive-way-to-ride-haunted-mansion-holiday-in-disneyland/ Six Happy Haunts have taken leave from the Haunted Mansion Friday through Sunday evenings though Halloween! The SCAREolders, a six person a cappella group will entertain guests in Downtown Disney, with favorites like “I Put a Spell on You” and other tributes to Disney villains. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/downtown-disney-district-is-frightfully-delightful-during-halloween-time-at-disneyland-resort/ As we reported on previously, the PhotoPass services has moved from Main Street Photo Supply in Disneyland and Kingswell Camera Shop in Disney California Adventure to the exterior part of the Disneyland Newsstand. The new location is labeled as “Photo Concierge” and will be the single location for photo services. The old locations inside the parks will be repurposed for more merchandise. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ A once state of the art system is almost completely gone from the parks. The FastPass machines have been removed from most if not all locations where they were previously installed in order to prepare for the launch of Genie+ and Lightning Lane. The new services will be offered through the Disneyland App only, so the old machines are no longer necessary. Some of the locations have been repurposed as shaded vending locations, while others are left empty for the time being. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ The annual Gay Days Anaheim event took place over the weekend and drew quite a few LGBTQ++ guests and allies. Disney offered some rainbow food and merchandise options around the parks to celebrate. There was a Mickey Rainbow Cookie, Rainbow Cotton Candy, Rainbow Cake, and a Rainbow Parade Tumbler. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ Guests sightseeing in Town Square at the beginning of Main Street might notice something new. The gates to the crowd overflow corridor near the Mad Hatter have been repainted to say “Welcome Friends” with “Disneyland Main Street, USA” and “Town Square Established 1955” above and below. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ Some unannounced changes started to take place in a popular attraction in Toon Town last week. Jessica Rabbit will be taking over a different role in the attraction as the story is updated to better reflect today's mentality. Jessica will now be a Private Eye keeping an eye on the Weasels who are on a crime spree in Toon Town. Her busty character will be more modest with a trenchcoat covering her up, and her character has already been removed from the trunk of a car in the attraction. Imagineers are working on the updates outside of park hours to not close the attraction. No word on when the updates will be complete. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ A more subdued color scheme has come to part of New Orleans Square. The former Le Bat en Rouge shop has transformed from the deep rouge color to a new green and gold that is reminiscent of Princess and the Frog. There is still no official word on what will go into this location, but MiceChat guesses that it will be a Princess and the Frog themed shop of some sort. – https://www.micechat.com/302565-dateline-disneyland-jessica-rabbit-covers-up-as-lightning-lane-moves-in-at-disneyland/ On Friday, October 1st, Walt Disney World will celebrate its 50th anniversary. To go along with the celebration, ABC will be presenting “The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World.” Disney Legend Whoopi Goldberg will host the show, which will feature performances from Christina Aguilera and Halle Bailey from Cinderella Castle. The special will look at the past, present, and future of the resort with never before seen footage. The special will air at 10pm eastern, and will be on Hulu the next day, with Disney+ coming later. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/teaser-released-for-the-most-magical-story-on-earth-50-years-of-walt-disney-world-special-coming-to-abc/ With the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World coming up in less than 2 weeks, the president of Walt Disney World, along with the Global Ambassador for “The World's Most Magical Celebration,” dedicated the Disney Fab 50 golden sculptures of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse to cast members past, present, and future. The Fab 50 are 50 sculptures that were created of Disney characters to be placed all around Disney World for the 50th celebration. A plaque was also placed near the Mickey and Minnie sculptures commemorating the event. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/honoring-the-heart-of-our-magic-cast-members-of-past-present-and-future/ As we reported on last week, the infrastructure in the water to support Fantasmic! at Disneyland was being worked on, which is great news! This week, the platforms in World of Color lagoon have been raised and are being worked on. The projection housings we reported on being dismantled months ago still haven't returned. Hopefully this is a good sign that World of Color might make a return before the end of the year. Unfortunately, there is no official word on when either Fantasmic! or World of Color might be returning. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/photos-world-of-color-fountains-uncovered-for-refurbishment-at-disney-california-adventure/ A new Oogie Boogie popcorn bucket is now available for purchase in Disney California Adventure. For $11, guests can pick up this bucket, decorated with Oogie Boogie surrounded by the Headless Horsemen, Jack-o'-lanterns, and other Halloween icons. Some DCA attractions are also in the background of the bucket. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/photos-new-oogie-boogie-popcorn-bucket-available-at-disney-california-adventure/ Disneyland was able to fulfil the final wish of a longtime annual passholder and Star Wars fan who was killed in the line of service in Afghanistan last month. Marine Corporal Hunter Lopez told his parents before he deployed that if anything happened, he wanted to be buried with the lightsaber he built in Disneyland in 2019. The family couldn't bear to part with the saber that he built, so they went to Disneyland to build a replica. Friends who work for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department and are members of Club 33 arranged to have a private Savi's Workshop session to create the saber. While dining in Club 33, the family was presented with an American flag that flew over Disneyland and framed in a plaque in honor and memory of Hunter, presented by Disneyland Security Vice President Dan Hughes. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/09/20/disneyland-pays-tribute-to-fallen-u-s-marine-killed-in-afghanistan-airport-attack/ Discussion Topic: Tage and Teresa talk about Oogie Boogie Bash and their upcoming trip. Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort Set to Open June 4 Super Heroes Assemble! As we’ve all been anticipating, we’re pleased to share that Avengers Campus—an entirely new land dedicated to discovering, recruiting and training the next generation of Super Heroes—will open June 4, 2021 at the Disneyland Resort! At this fully immersive land inside Disney California Adventure park, guests will be invited to team up with the Avengers and their allies and live out their Super Hero dreams. Avengers Campus is comprised of several heroic locations, each hosted by a different Avenger to share their unique powers, technology and knowledge with recruits. Today, Disneyland  unveils a first look inside Avengers Campus! Sling webs with Spider-Man and unite with the Guardians of the Galaxy The first key area is the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as WEB. It brings together bright innovators like Peter Parker who have been assembled by Tony Stark to invent new technologies and equip everyday people to become Super Heroes like the Avengers. WEB will house the new WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature the iconic friendly neighborhood Spider-Man! We previously shared that Tom Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man in the new family-friendly attraction, which invites guests to put their web-slinging skills to the test and experience what it’s like to have powers alongside Spider-Man – a feat accomplished with innovative technology adapted specifically for this attraction, perfect for up-and-coming recruits of all ages. The second anchor attraction looms high above the land, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, a fan-favorite that opened in 2017. This rockin’ adventure blasts guests straight into the “Guardians of the Galaxy” story, alongside characters from the blockbuster films and comics. Help Rocket bust his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy out of the Collector’s Fortress and experience raucous mayhem, music inspired by the soundtracks from the movies, thrilling free-fall drop sequences and six different story lines! Power up with tiny treats and massive meals When it is time to take a break from the heroics, several new dining spots at Avengers Campus will offer dishes that are rich in both flavor and storytelling. Pym Test Kitchen is a food innovation science lab where the food and drinks tell a story. Just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies applies this science to the creation of shareable bites, inventive entrees and sweet treats. Guests will be able to savor such items as the Impossible™ plant-based large and micro meatballs with pasta, or the “Pym-ini,” a panini served by the slice or as a long, multi-portion sandwich. Adjacent to the Pym Test Kitchen, an oversized beer can overhead signals that grown-up beverage tastings are available at Pym Tasting Lab. Guests can order a craft beer, ranging from a blood orange hefeweizen to an amber lager, or try one of the Pym Research Staff’s Pym Particle-infused cocktail experiments. News: With June 15th quickly approaching, there are a lot of changes to be aware of with California Theme Parks with the expiration of the Blueprint for a Safer Economy. On June 15th, out of state guests will be allowed at theme parks, vaccine verification will be required, park capacity will not be restricted by the state, this includes shops and restaurants, physical distancing will not be required, indoor shows and queuing can return, masks will still be required indoors and outdoors for theme parks. We will have to wait and see what Disneyland will require. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ Along with all of the other measures that are sure to be changing come June 15th, this next one we know for certain is happening. Disneyland will be discontinuing the temperature checks that are currently in place just before security. – https://t.co/JdJOyPVUyD If you are like we are, and love experiencing the parks at night, then this next announcement will be very good news. Starting July 1st, Disneyland will be open 8am to 10pm, with Main Street remaining open until 11pm, Disney California Adventure will be open 8am to 9pm, and Downtown Disney will generally be open 9am to 11pm. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ Two attractions will also be returning for the first time since the parks reopened. Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters will return on June 26th, and the Matterhorn returns on July 2nd. With the increased capacity, Disneyland can really use all the attractions up and running. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ The last of the Disneyland Resort hotels has an opening date! July 2nd the Disneyland Hotel returns to housing guests that are visiting the resort. Upholstery and fabrics were updated during the closure in the guest rooms, lobbies, and meeting rooms. Beds have been upgraded to allow for more space under the bed for storage, the carpets feature a fireworks design, and the corridor flooring features patterns inspired by Mary Blair art. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/disneyland-hotel-reopens-july-2-book-your-stay-today/ For those just too excited to wait for Avengers Campus to open, you can virtually see inside the new area through the magic of Google Earth! The 3D map of the area was updated before the parks reopened last month and gives us a pretty good view of the inside of the land. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ For a more official look inside Avengers Campus, look no further than the Disneyland App. The map for DCA has been updated to include the new land. There are three entrances to the campus, one from Hollywood Land, one from Cars Land, and the “main” entrance along the parade route. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/first-look-guide-map-for-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ As with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening at the parks, the new Web Slingers attraction will also be part of the virtual queue system. Guests will need to use the Disneyland App to virtually queue for the attraction, as there will not be a standby line. The virtual queue will be available at 7am and 12pm, just like Rise of the Resistance. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure-will-use-virtual-queue-system-similar-to-star-wars-rise-of-the-resistance/ The outdoor waiting area for the Hyperion Theater has been setup for use as seating for Avengers Campus dining. Signage from Pym’s Test Kitchen, as well as some larger than life props really theme this area well. – https://www.micechat.com/291605-disneyland-update-very-nearly-normal-for-better-or-worse/ Some possibly controversial merchandise is coming to Avengers Campus when it opens on June 4th. Web tech accessories can be purchased in the WEB Suppliers store and then used on the WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure to get special abilities and help get a higher score on the attraction. Some online communities have suggested this makes the attraction a more pay to win experience than a skill based one, like Buzz Lightyear or Toy Story Midway Mania. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/first-look-embrace-your-inner-super-hero-with-avengers-campus-merchandise-including-all-new-web-tech-available-at-disneyland-resort/ Disneyland has begun rolling out composable waste receptacles around the parks. In the areas where this has been rolled out, there are three cans; one for regular trash, one for recyclables like plastic, cans, paper, and glass, and the final can for food waste that can be used to make compost. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/photos-compostable-waste-receptacles-now-in-use-at-disneyland/ Graduates in 2022 will have the option to spend it at Disneyland for the first time since 2019! Pym’s Test Kitchen will offer up some larger than life, as well as tony options including breakfast, snacks, and specials. At the Pym Testing Lab, guests can get some craft beers, which, if they are on tap, will fill from the bottom of the glass. At Shawarma Palace, there are a couple of wraps, including a plant based falafawl and cauliflower wrap. Terran Treats features a Cosmic Cream Orb, which is a crispy cream puff filled with whipped raspberry cheesecake mousse, and a Sweet Spiral Ration, which is a churro spiral with unique flavors. At these locations, guest can take home souvenirs like the Iron Man Infinity Gauntlet for carrying your bottled coke, or Glowing Pym Particle Capsule and Particle Disk, and more! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/foodie-guide-to-avengers-campus-at-disneyland-resort/ The pricing of the items in the Pym Test Kitchen range from $10.49 for the pretzel, all the way up to – get this – $99.99 for the Quantum Sized Pym-ini Sandwich. It is possible that this sandwich is available in two sizes, with enough to feed the whole family. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/05/18/socan-someone-explain-disneys-new-100-sandwich/ Legacy Passholders can now grab some food at the exclusive Alfresco Dining Terrace. Some of the notable items on this new menu include a Screamin’ Cauliflower Ceviche, Slider Invasion, and Mulhollad Meatballs. Some of the signature cocktails include the Pizza Oom Mow Wow!, which is basically a pizza bloody mary, the Drop In… If You Dare, which has gin, elder flower liqueur, fresh lemon huice, and maraschino cherry mix. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/05/15/pizza-bloody-mary-check-out-the-new-menu-for-alfresco-tasting-terrace-at-disney-california-adventure/ The Paradise Garden Grill has reopened and is offering favorites from the Touch of Disney event. The Bao buns are back, along with the Sweet Lumpia, and the PB&J Mochi. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ The Walt Disney Company held their quarterly shareholders meeting last week, and updated everyone on how the company was doing. Performance for the company has increased 32% over the last quarter, but is still hindered by capacity limitations, and Disney Cruise Line being closed. Disney+ has 104 million paid subscribers. Bob Chapek also made the comment that instead od a “new passholder program,” they will have a loyalty/affinity program instead. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ Last week, Walt Disney World ended its mask requirement for vaccinated guests in outdoor areas of the parks in Florida. Masks are still required indoors, and while on all attractions. This is probably a sign of things to come for Disneyland, and an important piece of information to know. The mask mandate, along with the blueprint for reopening will expire in California on Jule 15th, and Disneyland is expected to change it’s mask policy to the one in Disney World. Keep this in mind when booking your trips to the Happiest Place on Earth if this makes you uncomfortable, or you have young ones who cannot be vaccinated yet. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ There are quite a few of you out there who will be endlessly excited about this news. A new legacy lightsaber has arrived in Galaxy’s Edge. The Darksaber, made famous by the Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars can be yours for $199.99. Those interested in wielding this saber should act fast, as supplies are limited until later in the summer. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/photos-video-new-legacy-lightsaber-the-darksaber-from-the-mandalorian-arrives-at-star-wars-galaxys-edge-in-disneys-hollywood-studios-and-disneyland/ Some of the screens that were installed for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to inform guests of boarding times and access to the land have been repurposed. Some of the screens are being used to show PhotoPass photos from nearby attractions. The photos can then be linked to your Disneyland App and purchased. – https://www.micechat.com/290819-disneyland-update-less-is-more-more-or-less/ As part of the DisneylandForward expansion plan, Disneyland has teased an Indiana Jones themed bar. During a recent webinar, Disneyland proposed that one of the establishments that could come with the expansion would be Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, which is already in Disney Springs in Florida. For those who haven’t seen the Indiana Jones movies in a while, Jock Lindsey is Indiana’s pilot in “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/05/14/disneyland-teases-indiana-jones-themed-bar-for-expansion-project/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/jock-lindseys-hangar-bar-included-in-proposed-disneylandforward-entertainment-destination/ A fun way to watch the next Disney live action movie is available from the El Capitan Theatre. Photos have been installed all around the building to promote Disney+ shows, and to be a great photo op. Shows include The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Big Shot, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Cruella, and more. The art and photo ops will change throughout the year, so be sure to check this location often for updates. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/disney-favorites-decorate-downtown-disney-district-at-disneyland-resort/ The World of Color lagoon has seen better days. It seems that the closure of the parks has lead to deterioration of some of the buildings on the lagoon that house some of the projection equipment. The old buildings have been dismantled and are being rebuilt, exposing the rusted interior. No word on when World of Color will be returning, but it needs some TLC before then. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ Next time you are using one of the outdoor portable sinks that have been setup, take a look at the theming. This time, it includes executive, salaried, and hourly workers. Ken Potrock, the President of the Disneyland Resort sent the letter to cast members explaining how difficult this decision is and they hope to get things open and cast members back to work as soon as possible. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/11/09/disneyland-announces-additional-furloughs-as-state-guidelines-leave-theme-park-in-limbo/ The Orange County Register posed an interesting question to readers this week: would you be willing to take a rapid COVID-19 test to enter the theme parks? Universal Studios and Six Flags have asked this question in surveys to potential guests. They are trying to determine if a rapid test that could be completed in as little as 15 minutes would make potential guests feel safer in the parks, almost ruling out that any guest would have COVID-19 in the parks after the tests would be completed. – https://t.co/c0MGSWp9Me The face masks that Disney has been selling online and in the parks and shops have received a price increase from $6 each to $9.99 each. Go Mouse Scouts | Visiting Disneyland and Disney World with Kids | A Fan Podcast Bringing you Disney Park Tips & Family Fun!

Megan & Kris talk about how to maximize your time at Disneyland during a crowded day! Also, we're trying out a new format for our show. Starting with this episode, we're going to be combining the park tips and conversations with Kit into one episode and release those once per week. The reason for this is to attempt to cut back on the amount of work it takes to put out an episode. I talk more about it at the top of the show. If you like this change or have any other suggestions, please drop us a line and let us know!   How to Maximize Your Time at Disneyland Have a plan, but be flexible. You don't want to just "wing it" when visiting Disneyland. We each pick our "must do's" for the day and make those our priority. You also want to make sure to be flexible. It may be that somebody's "must do" is closed, or maybe minds are changed. Your plans aren't set in stone, so be prepared to change things up.    Start early, stay late Do as much as you can before everyone gets there and after everyone leaves. Try to get to the parks before Rope Drop and/or stay late. If the park opens at 8:00 am, you usually have a few hours before the big crowds arrive to get in as much as you can. We're frequently able to hit five or six attractions before 11. Crowds will usually start thinning too around 10 pm if you can wait them out.  Also, consider doing attractions that have long lines in the sun early when it's cooler. Peter Pan, for example, has wait times of 45–50 minutes with a good portion of the queue out in the sun. Don't blame us if you get heat stroke while waiting for Peter Pan.    Use FASTPASS Use FASTPASSes on popular attractions like Space Mountain and Indiana Jones. (Try combining them with rider swap, if you have young kids or babies, for more value.)   Use mobile apps Use apps like MouseWait and the Disneyland App to gauge wait times and adjust schedule when appropriate.   Take it slow during the day Take things slow once the big crowds get there. After all, you've already checked off most of the things on your list in the morning, right?   Conversations with Kit Kit talks about The Magic School Bus and a really cool educational kit that he got that helps him learn about the human body.    Join us on Facebook! Come join our Facebook group where you can ask questions and share your advice on visiting Disneyland with your kids…or even just to geek out over Disney! One of the very first things we hear when we talk to other people about visiting Disneyland is, “That sounds like so much fun, I wish we could go! It’s just so expensive.” After hearing this so many times, we started to look for ways that families could save on a Disneyland trip. We found that while a Disneyland trip will be expensive (but totally worth it), you might be surprised to find that with a little forethought and planning, it can be within your reach! In this short ebook, we’ve grouped our tips into three main categories: tips on saving and collecting extra money for your trip, saving on the trip itself, and ways to save at the parks on food and souvenirs. Jambeaux, everyone!!! Welcome to another episode of the Magic Our Way podcast. We appreciate you listening to our show and we hope it brings a smile to your face. Factoid of the day: hippos are huge!!! On this week’s show, we discuss a myriad of topics all of which center around our Trip Report for our First Podcast Trip to the World!!! We lead off the show and give our listeners a hearty Asante Sana as we read and respond to their emails. Thank you to each and every one of you that have written in so far.  Secondly, we talk about our trip down to the World together for the first time. We tried to cover things that we didn’t cover in the Field Reports and also embellish on the things we brought up on our Field Reports. There were a lot of firsts for us during this trip which really helped to make this trip special.  We discuss Kevin’s experience with letting Disney chauffeur him around the property. The backstory is that Kevin usually has a car while in Disney World and does enjoy driving around property. Is it a control issue? Could be. We also go into Danny’s take on Disney transportation in reference to DVC privileges. HAHAHA! Next we offer our first impressions of the Art of Animation Resort, a place neither of us have ever stayed. We then talk about our stay at the Bay Lake Towers, specifically the showers. Then, Danny relates his experience watching the Norway movie for the first time. We got stuck on Primeval Whirl!!! Guano Joe and The Flights of Wonder: love this show and you would be remiss if you missed it. We give a state of the Soarin’ attraction address. We visit Splitsville and give our first impressions of it. I took Danny to the Top of the World lounge at Bay Lake Towers. Kevin finally gets in to the Be Our Guest Restaurant and has a great experience. Lastly, we talk about the Disneyland App. If you are looking for a good mobile Disney fix, this app is definitely the way to go. It reminds us of the Walt Disney World Explorer computer game.  Finally, we started a new thing on our show. We tweeted out that we were recording and we wanted you, the listener, to shoot us questions during the recording. So, if you want to be part of the Magic Our Way podcast, follow us on Twitter and Facebook so you receive notification that we are recording.
