Resort Wars: Showdown rolls on, and this time two very different Deluxe Villa resorts are stepping into the ring as Disney's Riviera Resort takes on Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa! We're putting these two resorts head-to-head across seven rounds, comparing them in theming and atmosphere, rooms and comfort, dining and drinks, transportation and location, recreation and amenities, value for money, and of course, listener intel. Riviera brings an upscale European-inspired atmosphere, a compact and easy-to-navigate layout, one of the strongest resort dining lineups at Walt Disney World, and the huge transportation advantage of the Disney Skyliner. But is all of that enough to justify the premium price? Saratoga Springs counters with a completely different experience. It's sprawling, peaceful, packed with recreation, offers everything from Deluxe Studios to the unique Treehouse Villas, and puts Disney Springs within walking or boating distance. It may not have the same polished feel as Riviera, but does its space, versatility, location, and value make it the better overall resort? We'll debate each category, award a point round by round, bring in your listener votes and comments, and make our final arguments before crowning a winner. Only one can advance in Resort Wars: Showdown. Will it be Riviera or Saratoga Springs?
We've talked about and done lists about my favorite/the best Disney World ride characters. Those characters are usually popular, main stream, and the stars of the show. This list is the opposite, let's name some completely random Disney World attraction characters
This is the Live Call-in Show from this past Sunday night, August 23, 2026! Mike and Scott were back together for the hour taking your calls! We started the show with a great call from Ryan down in Mobile, Alabama about taking his young child to Walt Disney World for the first-time! We did our best to remember tips from taking our girls when they were younger, but the chat was on fire with great thoughts! Then, Lauren had questions about going to Disneyland for the first time as a Walt Disney World veteran! We also discussed Restricted fares with Disney Cruise Line and who might be comfortable booking them, with Dennis from Texas giving some great thoughts as well! Jim Hill and Lauren Hersey remember Dolly Parton by exploring her long and surprisingly deep connection to Disney. Jim recounts the ambitious Feature Animation Florida project that nearly gave Dolly a starring role in a hand-drawn/CG hybrid set in Appalachia, variously known as My Peoples, Angel and Her No Good Sister, and A Few Good Ghosts. They also look back at Dolly's appearances with Disney, her relationship with Miley Cyrus, the growth of Dollywood and the Imagination Library, and Jim's own conversation with the country music legend. HIGHLIGHTS • How Dolly Parton became Miley Cyrus's Aunt Dolly on Hannah Montana. • Dolly's Disney connection stretching back to Walt Disney World's 15th anniversary celebration. • The story behind Barry Cook's abandoned Feature Animation Florida project My Peoples. • Why Disney paired traditional human animation with CG Appalachian folk-art characters. • The all-star voice cast that included Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, Ashley Judd, Travis Tritt, Hal Holbrook, and more. • How the project evolved through titles including Elgin's Peoples, Once in a Blue Moon, Angel and Her No Good Sister, and A Few Good Ghosts. • Michael Eisner's enthusiastic reaction shortly before Disney ultimately shut the project down. • How changing attitudes toward hand-drawn animation and Disney's strained relationship with Pixar helped bring the film - and Feature Animation Florida - to an end. • Jim remembers interviewing Dolly about the Imagination Library and asking her about the Disney movie that never made it to theaters. A viral Disneyland encounter has the Disney community debating where fandom ends and personal boundaries begin. Lauren and Eric unpack the controversy surrounding "Peter Pan Girl" Tony, the online backlash, and whether character performers need stronger safeguards when guest interactions become uncomfortable. Then they turn to another viral theme park debate: guests renting ECV scooters for races, videos, and general shenanigans at Walt Disney World. Along the way, they consider Disney adults, sports fandom, online bullying, accessibility, and why a little kindness goes a long way in the parks. HIGHLIGHTS • The viral "Peter Pan Girl" controversy sparks a debate over Disney fandom, personal boundaries, and online bullying. • Former character performers and Disney fans weigh in on whether roaming characters need better safeguards during uncomfortable guest interactions. • Lauren and Eric ask why obsessive Disney fandom gets treated differently from sports, music, and celebrity fandoms. • Viral videos of guests racing and playing around on Walt Disney World ECV scooters raise new accessibility and safety concerns. • Could misuse of scooters and other mobility devices eventually lead Disney to tighten its theme park policies? Using glass as a medium to capture and refract light, David Yeshia seeks to freeze moments of transition, combining myriad elements to manipulate their visual and symbolic effects. Also a metaphor for his life at the time, Yeshia was smashing glass and rebuilding the fragments into something beautiful. A new breed of "artrepreneur," he emerged from the Covid pandemic bringing art out of the gallery and into the public marketplace by developing accessible and affordable works. A self-taught Canadian glass artist known for his signature fused glass techniques, Yeshia has developed innovative methods including his "Glass Netting" technique, "Glascade" and signature "Free Mosaic" forms exploring glass as both structure and light. He was nominated for the Emerging Glass Artist of the Year Award by the Glass Art Society and has created sculptural works for government commissions and collectors across Canada. His work is sold at Walt Disney World, and his process-focused storytelling has attracted over 400,000 followers across social media, with his videos reaching tens of millions of views. Yeshia attended Concordia University Fine Arts, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in Theater and Religious Studies. In 2017, as an exotic mushroom cultivator in Montreal, Yeshia's business was hit hard by the Covid pandemic's impact on the restaurant and food industries. At 30 years old, he moved back in with his parents in the countryside just outside of Pembroke, Ontario—emotionally drained, uncertain about the future, and feeling like a failure. Dejected, without direction, he began to experiment with glass in the stained glass studio of his father, Jeffrey Melamed, an architect turned stained glass artist. Says Yeshia: "When I was struggling and trying to rebuild my life, my family rallied around me. Their enthusiasm for my work gave me the encouragement and confidence to keep going. My mother began attending markets, my father helped with displays, shows, and accounting, and my sister brought her creativity and many great product ideas." Yeshia's business Artglas has expanded to Markham, Ontario, and now employs a staff of seven. Early on, a pivotal meeting with Disney's Keith Bryan inspired the artist's early series of fused glass art and eventually led to his ongoing contract to design and produce ornaments for Disney. In September 2026, Artglas will return to exhibit in "The Transparent Breath," an International exhibition of glass jewelry held at Venice Glass Week. Specializing in experimental fusing techniques to create contemporary glass jewelry that represents the Canadian identity, Yeshia's Venice collection showcases his unique talents of incorporating 24-karat gold and silver into the glass. "This will be our fifth time at Venice Glass Week. It was an honor to be amongst some of the greatest glass artists of our time, in one of the world's most historic hubs of the arts," said Yeshia. "And it was overwhelming connecting with artists from all over the world, sharing our work and creativity in such an inspiring environment." In 2027, Yeshia's company will also expand its online education and subscriber platforms, open a gallery and second studio space, and create more room for one-of-a-kind and conceptual work. Artglas also has new commercial projects in development, including a Disney concept still awaiting approval. Says Yeshia: "As Artglas grew, I had to learn how to wear many different hats, including artist, maker, employer, marketer, content creator, educator, salesperson, and business owner, while still preserving the meaning, symbolism, and quality of the work."

We're putting our Disney planning opinions, habits, strategies, and questionable decisions to the test with a brand-new round of Truth or Dare! We're taking turns choosing between Truth or Dare and randomly pulling from a collection of questions and challenges covering Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and general vacation planning. But which ones did we actually pull? You'll have to listen to find out. The possible Truths could have us confessing our biggest Disney planning mistakes, admitting which advice we don't always follow ourselves, revealing what guests spend way too much time worrying about, deciding which experiences aren't worth rearranging an entire day for, or exposing the planning decisions where we are most likely to disagree. And then there are the possible Dares. We could be forced to choose between giving up park hopping or Lightning Lane, pick one Walt Disney World resort to stay at for our next five trips, visit only two parks on our next vacation, choose between three nights at a Deluxe resort or seven nights at a Value, or plan a trip with some of our favorite options completely taken away. Disney Cruise Line could bring tough decisions involving staterooms, itineraries, excursions, dining, and onboard experiences. Disneyland could force us to rethink how we plan a completely different kind of Disney vacation. And the general vacation questions might reveal just how much control we're actually willing to surrender when somebody else is involved in the planning. Those are just some of the Truths and Dares waiting in the pile. Which ones did we draw? Which choices caused the biggest arguments? And what did we reveal that we probably would have preferred to keep to ourselves? There's only one way to find out. It's Disney Planning Truth or Dare!

878 · D23 Disney Parks Announcements: Sightlines Into Yesterday, Tomorrow, and FantasyThe loudest cheers at D23 weren't necessarily for what Disney was building next. They were for what Disney was willing to bring back, repair, and finally acknowledge. In a presentation built on a little faith, trust, and pixie dust, Disney asked fans to believe in an ambitious future, but this time it also showed its work. Models, progress, priorities, restorations, and even the things Disney chose to address directly revealed a much bigger story than any single attraction announcement. In WDW Radio # 878, we look at the D23 2026 Disney Parks announcements through a series of "sightlines" that connect Villains Land, Piston Peak National Park, Dreamfinder, the Expedition Everest Yeti, Spaceship Earth, Tomorrowland, Monstropolis, Tropical Americas, Disney Cruise Line, and much more. And the sightlines stretch well beyond the U.S., from Disneyland Paris and the return of its Jules Verne-inspired Space Mountain to new Tomorrowland, Avengers, and Spider-Man experiences coming to Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. When you step back, it starts to look like a very Disney story of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy. Yesterday is being honored through attractions, characters, and experiences fans refused to let go of. Tomorrow is taking shape through ambitious new lands, technologies, attractions, and global expansion. And fantasy is where Disney is creating entirely new places and stories for us to step inside. We also explore what changed the perspective on some of these projects, why "no height requirement" may be one of the most important phrases of the night, why the sequence of these projects may matter as much as the projects themselves, and what Disney did not announce... and why. This isn't simply a recap of D23 2026. It's a closer look at what Disney is building, what it is preserving, what it is asking us to trust, and what all of it may mean for the way we experience the Disney Parks around the world in the years ahead.

Len Testa and Jim Hill unpack a packed slate of D23 parks announcements, from Disneyland's newly promised Tomorrowland overhaul to major additions coming to Walt Disney World. They dig into Tropical Americas, Piston Peak, Villains Land, Monstropolis, Figment and Dreamfinder's return to EPCOT, and Disney's surprising promise to finally address Expedition Everest's Yeti. Then Jim looks back at the history of Disney-MGM Studios' Ewok Village, its connection to Star Tours, and the unusual road that brought George Lucas' galaxy to a Hollywood-themed park. NEWS • Disneyland plans a Tomorrowland overhaul inspired by the land's original sense of hope and optimism. • Disney California Adventure's Pandora project moves behind Tomorrowland while Avengers Infinity Defense, Stark Flight Lab, and the Coco attraction continue taking shape. • Walt Disney World reveals new details for Tropical Americas, Piston Peak National Park, Villains Land, and the phased opening of Monstropolis. • Dreamfinder and Figment are headed back to EPCOT in a still-mysterious new “flight of fancy” into Imagination. • Disney says Expedition Everest's long-static Yeti will finally be addressed, though exactly what “fixing” the figure means remains to be seen. FEATURE • Jim traces the 1989 opening of the Ewok Village at Disney-MGM Studios, months before Florida's Star Tours began carrying guests to Endor. • Learn why Florida's Star Tours wound up at the Studios instead of Tomorrowland and how Disney tried to make George Lucas part of the park's identity. • The story explores George Lucas' inspirations for the Ewoks, the abandoned Wookiee plans for Return of the Jedi, and Disney's enthusiasm for the franchise's most marketable forest dwellers. • Plus, Jim revisits unrealized ideas including a Sci-Fi Channel UFO headquarters and the Roger Rabbit-themed Toontown Transit simulator. Episode 682 — Dream Disney Weekends, Golden Girls & Disney This or ThatThis week, Cousin Heather Stone Capelle is back, and we're having one of those conversations that feels like hanging out with friends and geeking out about Disney for an hour.We start by designing our dream Disney weekends with friends.Heather builds the ultimate Golden Girls getaway with her daughter and her Disney friends, complete with a Beach Club stay, an EPCOT fireworks cruise, a VIP tour, pool time, Victoria & Albert's, wine pairings, and plenty of time to slow down and enjoy being together. Then I start building my own guys weekend with lounge crawls, burger challenges, bourbon, live music, and a possible four-park VIP challenge. And after that…things get competitive. We jump into a big round of Disney This or That, debating everything from resorts and attractions to food, lounges, and Disney traditions. We geek out about:Beach Club vs. PolynesianBoardWalk area vs. Animal Kingdom LodgeContemporary vs. Grand FloridianSkyliner vs. MonorailRope Drop vs. Magic Kingdom at nightHaunted Mansion vs. Pirates of the CaribbeanSoarin' vs. Spaceship EarthRunaway Railway vs. RatatouilleFestival of the Lion King vs. FantasmicCharacter breakfasts vs. signature dinnersNomad Lounge vs. Trader Sam'sDole Whip vs. Mickey Premium BarsBig group trips vs. traveling with one close friendBut some of the best parts of this episode aren't really about choosing one Disney thing over another.Heather and I talk about how much the people you travel with shape the entire trip, why the best plans still need room for spontaneity, and how special it is to spend time at Disney with people who understand why this place means so much to you.Sometimes the best Disney moments aren't the rides or the reservations. They're the laughter, the strange little moments, the pictures you didn't plan, and the friends who make you say:“We've got to do this again.”

DREAM WISH PLAN - Disney Vacation Planning, Travel Tips and Hacks
One of the most searched questions in Disney vacation planning is how much a Disney trip actually costs. In this episode, we are giving you real numbers, not vague ranges, so you can figure out exactly what a Disney World vacation could look like for your family. We break down the four main budget categories- resort, tickets, food, and the extras nobody talks about- and walk through what you are actually paying for at each resort tier, from value to deluxe. We also cover park ticket pricing, realistic daily food budgets, and the costs that quietly add up, such as Lightning Lane, Memory Maker, and airport transfers. Then we put it all together with three real budget examples for a family of four for five nights: a budget-friendly trip, a mid-range trip, and a deluxe trip, so you have something concrete to plan around. If you have been wondering whether a Disney vacation is actually possible for your family, this episode will give you the clarity you need.

Send us Fan MailD23 2026 is in the books, and this week on The Mickeyphile Podcast, we're looking at the good, the bad, and the occasionally very awkward from Disney's biggest fan weekend. We watched D23 from Walt Disney World and came away with plenty to talk about. Disney brought portions of the event to Disney+ this year, but with dozens of panels happening throughout the weekend, why did fans at home get to see so few of them? We talk about the streaming experience, what Disney got right, and why an event billed as the ultimate Disney fan event still felt surprisingly difficult to follow from home. Then we get into the panels themselves. The 35th Anniversary of Beauty and the Beast was easily one of the highlights. Alan Menken, Susan Egan, Paige O'Hara and members of the film's creative team looked back at the making of an animated classic, the Broadway production, Howard Ashman's incredible influence, and some fascinating behind-the-scenes footage from the original recording sessions. This is Disney celebrating its history at its best.We also watched the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 panel. We're fans of the series—or at least we were before we forgot to watch Season 2—so did the new season presentation convince us that it's time to catch up? We talk about what worked, some strange panel questions, a few production miscues, and why Percy Jackson might be exactly the kind of newer franchise D23 needs to embrace. And then there's the big one: Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase.Neil Patrick Harris hosted an evening filled with Parks announcements, musical performances, celebrity appearances…and a few moments that didn't exactly appear to go according to plan.We break down the Walt Disney World news, including:Figment and Dreamfinder returning to Journey Into ImaginationDisney finally promising to fix the Yeti at Expedition EverestNew details for Villains LandMore information about the Cars expansion at Magic KingdomMonstropolis coming to Disney's Hollywood StudiosTropical Americas and the new Indiana Jones attractionUpdates coming to Spaceship EarthCarousel of Progress and its new voicesNew Disney Cruise Line shipsThe return of The Imagineering StoryAnd a whole lot of projects we've heard about before…without nearly enough datesThere was plenty to be excited about. But after years of hearing about some of these projects, did Disney actually give fans enough new information?Plus, Sheryl Crow, Beck, Gloria Gaynor, Disney on Broadway, Neil Patrick Harris channeling the Carousel of Progress, some questionable wardrobe choices, and a presentation that occasionally left us wondering whether anyone had rehearsed. So after three days of D23, are we actually more excited about the future of Disney than we were before it started?Join Scott and Karen for Episode 262 of The Mickeyphile Podcast as we talk about what D23 2026 got right, what it got wrong, and what we're still waiting for Disney to tell us.Follow The Mickeyphile PodcastInstagram & TikTok: @mickeyphile_podcastFacebook: Search The Mickeyphile Podcast for our Page and GroupYouTube: @mickeyphilepodcastEmail: mickeyphilepodcast@gmail.comTheme song: “Cân Ddelwedd”Written and performed by Scott Daves© 2026 Scott DavesAnd remember…Stay in the dang boats!

We're creating our own inaugural Walt Disney World Legends class and inducting the attractions, experiences, places, and people that have truly earned legendary status at Walt Disney World. Before recording, we each secretly selected one nominee across 10 different categories without knowing what the other person picked. Now it's time to reveal our choices, make our cases, and ultimately agree on just ONE official Legend in each category. If we happen to nominate the same thing, the decision is easy—they're automatically in! But when our picks don't match, we have to debate until one nominee earns the induction. We start with Attraction Legend before turning our attention to something Disney fans spend plenty of time experiencing: the queues. From there, we tackle Resort Legend, Dining Legend, and Snack Legend before moving into the entertainment and transportation that have become such an important part of the Walt Disney World experience. We also dig into the sounds and music that can instantly transport you back to the parks as we choose our Audio Legend, debate which Disney character has earned legendary status specifically at Walt Disney World, and finish by honoring the Cast Member roles that have become just as iconic as some of the attractions themselves. These aren't necessarily our favorites or even what we think is the “best” today. We're considering longevity, impact, nostalgia, innovation, historical significance, guest connection, and what has become truly synonymous with Walt Disney World. Ten categories. Two nominees. One inductee in each. Who makes our inaugural Walt Disney World Legends class—and which of our picks will cause the biggest disagreement?
