Indiana Jones Adventure is one of the most beloved Disney rides in any of the parks. A classic, memorable, and thrilling ride. However, over the years, some things have changed on the ride, and as some more changes are sure to approach with it going through some refurbishment until sometime in Spring, Blake and JJ are here in this week's episode to discuss the state of the ride right now, and praising what they love about it, as well as some of the criticisms to some of its issues from before it going into refurbishment. After discussing what they had done Disney recently, they discuss a lot about the ride, including the story of the ride, as well as its backstory, what they enjoy about the ride and why it ranks among their highest rides, and its amazing queue. Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye opened at Disneyland in 1995 as one of the most advanced Theme Park Attractions of its era. Nearly 30 years later, it remains one of the most popular attractions at the Disneyland resort—despite, in the opinion of some fans, having long since outlived its “glory days.” Was its brilliance as fleeting as the Treasure of Mara itself? What about the queue and ride itself makes this attraction's opening so legendary? How did it tell its story—and what makes it stand alone as both a thrill ride and a narrative experience?Join Buddy and Alice as they continue the adventure in Eyes of Mara, a new Miniseries from Those Happy Places! In March of 1995, Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye opened at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Since then, the attraction has gone from revolutionary in its use of technology and effects to a legacy attraction—the successes of which have been used and re-used in a whole new generation of theme park rides and attractions. In this episode, we dive into the history of the ride's development—how Lucasfilm and Disney began their in-park collaborations, early concepts for the attraction and its place in Adventureland, its unique design elements, and its unique place as a melding between the analog and digital ages of Theme Park Attractions.Join Buddy and Alice as they begin a new adventure in Eyes of Mara, a new Miniseries from Those Happy Places! On this week's show, Disneyland pros, David and Ronn dive into several sizzling Disney topics. The Galactic Starcruiser Takes Off! Where Disney nailed this experience? Where did they fail completely - or did they? Is it a "Murder Mystery Dinner?" Is it a complex 48-hour Escape Room? Is it a Disney Cruise? Is it a Live-Action "Choose Your Own Adventure?" Is it ALL of them?! What does the timeline mean for the future of Galaxy's Edge? Has Darth Vader's fate just been permanently sealed!?! Has Disney just changed the game and introduced the most technologically advanced, cutting edge, immersive experience ever created? How sustainable is this Disney triumph - can't even book all 100 rooms within the year OR so triumphant another Galactic Starcruiser comes to Disneyland? What are some of the tricks we do at the Parks with children? What are some of our favorite moments with our children at the Parks? What is your favorite thing to watch on Disney Plus? What celebrity would you like to play guide for at Disneyland? Would you rather have Captain EO or Country Bear Jamboree return to Disneyland? Plus, we remember, celebrate, and honor The Indiana Jones Adventure - Temple of the Forbidden Eye, Chip ‘n' Dale Rescue Rangers, Disney Legends Harper Goff and Art Babbitt, and Alice's Day at Sea in this week in Disney history. Star Tours is a beloved attraction. It was a revolutionary ride in the theme park industry at the time and was the spiritual predecessor of attractions like Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Now that Batuu exists and another spiritual successor Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run is now entertaining guests, should Star Tours still exist? Listen as the boys engage in a lively debate to answer this question and to decide once and for all, which is better, Star Tours in the flailing tomorrow land or Star Tours in the identity crisis laden Disney's Hollywood Studios? What’s really interesting about this episode, is how many times we begin to discuss our novella selection, only to be dragooned by American hero, and archeologist, Indiana Jones. Really, big part of this episode is Jared explaining the trajectory of the Disneyland/DisneySea attraction: Indiana Jones and the Temple of The Forbidden Eye. http://www.attractionchecklist.com - John B. deHaas is back and this episode we ride a Disney's Animal Kingdom opening day attraction DINOSAUR. Learn a little about the ride, experience the ride audio and then listen in as John and I deliver our longest review of a ride ever. Recorded on March 22, 2018. This episode we are headed back to Walt Disney World to ride DINOSAUR atDisney’s Animal Kingdom. The guide map describes this attraction in the following manner, “Take off on a rip-roaring prehistoric tour in the dark to save a dinosaur from extinction. There is a height requirement of 40” for this attraction and the Thrill Level describes the attraction as a Thrill ride with Small Drops that is Dark and Scary. Fastpass+ is available for this attraction. Before we head off to the Dino Institute, here are five fast facts about DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. 1. DINOSAUR is a Disney’s Animal Kingdom opening Day attraction, opening with the park on April 22, 1998. 2. DINOSAUR uses the same ride vehicles and a very similar track layout to the Disneyland Attraction Indiana Jones and the Forbidden Eye. The storylines are, obviously, different. 3. For about 3 years after the attraction opened, it was called Countdown To Extinction. The name was changed to DINOSAUR on May 1st, 2001 to tie in with the Disney movie of the same name. A few subtle references to the older name can still be seen in the attraction, most notably on the ride vehicles that are each stamped with the name CTX Rover. 4. The ride’s preshow stars Phylicia Rashad as Dr. Marsh and Wallace Langham as Dr. Seeker. The attraction stars 11 audio-animatronic dinosaurs including one of the star of the Disney film Dinosaur, Aladar, 5. Finally, in the loading are, guests can look up and see three pipes, one red, one yellow and one white. All three have chemical formulas written on them. These are the formulas for Ketchup, Mustard and Mayonnaise. This is a throwback easter egg from when the ride was originally sponsored by McDonalds. With the learning out of the way, let’s hop in our Rovers and head back in time and ride DINOSAUR. I have included the preshow in this recording but I have edited a bit of the time between the preshow and boarding the ride vehicles so things move a little quicker. Along for the fun today is John B. deHaas and after we ride we’ll discuss our thoughts oaths attraction. If you’d like to see our ride photo from this ride through, beside to visit the show notes page for this episode, episode 45 over at AttractionChecklist.com. As usual, this is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, now is the time to put them on as we are headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to ride DINOSAUR. People ask us all the time what our favorite ride is. In fact, we did a top 5 list awhile ago, and each of us listed the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland as one of our favorites. All the more reason Terrence decided to track down the details of how this ride came to be in the parks, and all the crazy stuff that happens inside it. Get ready for the ... History of Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye But first ... Taren called Terrence out for admitting that he does in fact get compliments sent to him. This comes on the heels of the last show where he complained about not receiving any. Needless to say, his pants are totally on fire right now. We read some feedback, and talk about how not only one but two listeners we met up with got engaged while we were there! Pretty amazing! Taren's Thinks strikes again, and Taren somehow lumps Jennifer Aniston in with President Obama. It's ... she's crazy, ok? It's time for Terrence to shine as he takes us through the history of Indiana Jones, specifically the ride in Disneyland from conception to opening and beyond. Then we get to some Disney News, the Fact of the Show, and that's it! See you in the parks!
For this Harrison Ford movie, Sabrina, we get a unique opportunity to compare how Harrison plays a role that Humphrey Bogart played. Yep, Harrison does his first "rom-com" and you kind of wonder why he doesn't do more comedy. There was some creepness happening in Sabrina due to the large age gap between Linus/Harrison Ford and Sabrina/Julia Ormond and we're not quite sure Harrison was totally comfortable hitting on such a younger character. Plenty of breaking down of "Linus". OF NOTE!: We talk about the Disneyland ride, Indiana Jones Adventure - Temple of the Forbidden Eye. (It came out during this era of Harrison's carrer so we review it here. ALSO, OF NOTE!: Our Harrison 'news and updates' are going to be a little dated due to the fact we recorded this episode before we recorded our The Force Awakens trailer #2 episode. But that's cool, you can hear how dumb we sound. LISTEN: SabrinaAndIndianaJonesRideGOMP21.mp3 ——————————————- -Music by Night Stop, song called “Harrison Ford”. -Show is hosted by Mike and Trent. This is the time of year when all of the different Hollywood blockbusters are being honored at the various award ceremonies. What does this have to do with theme parks and roller coasters? Well, many of the best theme park attractions in history have based upon popular films. Back To The Future, Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, Jaws, Star Tours, Kongfrontation, Superman Escape, Terminator 2: 3D, Jurassic Park, Men In Black, The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman, Revenge Of The Mummy and countless other attractions have had their story lines adapted from popular movies. For the past month, listeners of CoasterRadio.com have been submitting their ideas for a blockbuster theme park attraction based upon a blockbuster movie. We call it our Reel Design Contest. We narrowed the submissions down to 10 finalists and you'll hear all of them on this week's show. The winner will receive two one day admission tickets to the Walt Disney World Resort courtesy of MapleLeafTickets.com. After the show, join us in our forums to talk about your opinions. You can also record your thoughts on the CoasterRadio.com Voicemail Line at 206-339-RIDE (206-339-7433). Let us know what you think by e-mailing us at feedback@coasterradio.com.
