This week, a new addition to Storybook land canal boats, a casting call hints at new entertainment, Rex returns for a new party, interact with the Avengers in a different way, Josh Gad takes guests on a spooktacular ride, we finish our conversation with Brandon from Spirit Jersey, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: There has been a lot of speculation on what is happening with Storybook Land Canal Boats at Disneyland since it's refurbishment started. We finally have at least part of an answer! Between the patchwork section and Mr.Toad's section a new Rapunzel tower will rise, with wanted posters for Flynn Rider and a secluded dock with a boat inspired by the film. A trellis on the Casey Jr. bridge will feature twinkling lights and play “When Will My Life Begin?” during the day, and “I See the Light” at night. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/rapunzels-tower-coming-to-storybook-land-canal-boats-at-disneyland/ Some new live entertainment is coming to the Disneyland Resort. A casting call has gone out for seven improv actors, vocalists, movers, and dancers for a new production. They are also looking for band members to accompany the show. Submissions are open through October 17th. No word on when this show will debut or what it is. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/10/02/your-dream-job-is-now-hiring-at-disneyland/ Not too long ago, Rex from Toy Story came to Pixar Pier. He is back, but this time he is ready to party. Partysaurus Rex, which is Rex in his party outfit of a viking hat, with red lochs hanging out, and a few necklaces with colorful beads and a peace sign. You can catch Partysaurus Rex in the 2012 Pixar short Partysaurus Rex, which is part of the Toy Story Toons series. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/partysaurus-rex-meet-and-greet-dca/ There is a new way to interact, and maybe get a photo with, you favorite Avenger. There is a new “Avengers Assemble” moment in Avengers Campus where a few Avengers come out together, are introduced by the F.R.I.D.A.Y. voice over the PA, pose for a group photo in front of the Avengers' jeep, then break up to meet with guests for photos in the area. After a short time, the F.R.I.D.A.Y. voice comes back and informs them they are needed elsewhere, and they disperse. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/avengers-assemble-new-moment-avengers-campus-dca/ One of our favorite previously turned down cast members, and Disney Legend Josh Gad was back at Disneyland recently. This time, he was working the Haunted Mansion. This took place before the Holiday overlay was installed, as he can be seen talking to the caretaker, dancing with the ballroom ghosts, and much more! You might remember that Josh previously worked on the Jungle Cruise as a skipper, was a conductor on the Disneyland Railroad, and worked the Kilimanjaro Safari at Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. To see his experience, check out the link in our show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/10/03/a-disney-celebrity-just-became-a-haunted-mansion-caretaker-and-we-are-so-jealous/ https://youtu.be/UTHSUCKCY8s?si=WHP0bZie-C41dFHb The Broken Spell Lounge at the Disneyland Hotel, which opened back in October of 2024, just now got it's permanent sign. The new sign hangs from the ceiling with a magic wand and twinkling stars surrounding the Broken Spell Lounge name. The lounge is usually open from 4pm to 10pm, with live music daily at 5:30pm, 6:45pm, and 8pm. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/10/05/better-late-than-never-something-new-just-arrived-at-a-popular-disney-hotel-lounge/ Not only is Disneyland celebrating 70 years, but so is the Mickey Mouse Club! The Mickey Mickey Mouse Club premiered on October 3, 1955. To celebrate, some new, retro-style merchandise has come to the resort. There are some classic Mickey ears, a Mickey Mouse Club Member jacket, a Mickey plush, tote bag, tee, and more! – https://www.micechat.com/424727-disneyland-news-ticket-increase-aerial-construction-photos/ In the hub at Disneyland, there are pumpkins that represent each land of the park, with a character representative. Adventureland started this Halloween season with Tarzan, but has been swapped to Jose from Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room. This change makes sense since Tarzan's Treehouse has been replaced with the Adventureland Treehouse. It is interesting that they swapped this out mid-season. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-adventureland-pumpkin-update/ We have a couple of construction updates to tell you about around the resort. First, the Disneyland Hotel security gates near the old ESPN Zone building are still closed, but the new gates are installed and should be open soon. Over in Disney California Adventure, the TWO new Avengers Campus attractions are coming along quickly. The main framing of the building – or buildings, depending on how you look at it is complete. The walls should start to enclose the structure soon. The scale of this structure is massive! – https://www.micechat.com/424727-disneyland-news-ticket-increase-aerial-construction-photos/ SnackChat: Naples Ristorante e Bar – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/downtown-disney-district/naples-ristorante-e-bar/menus/ Discussion Topic: Creative Director of Spirit Jerseys Brandon Ptasznik https://www.spiritjersey.com – Use code dlweekly10 to get 10% off brandon@spiritjersey.com Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Haunted houses usually have a story that’s been embellished over the years or even just made up. But a mansion in New Orleans’ French Quarter, once owned by Nicholas Cage, has a documented history that’s absolutely horrifying. And even he was terrified of the place!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Walt loved New Orleans and from day one he sought to incorporate the essence of the French Quarter into Disneyland Park. While New Orleans Square wasn't opened until 1966, there has always been since day one a New Orleans Street. It stretched from the Golden Horseshoe down along the Rivers of America. It was a contrast to the Nature's Wonderland with its mine train, pack mules and stage coaches. It was one of the key dining points in the park, and Walt loved this stretch, where he often enjoyed a weekend morning breakfast watching the ships along the Rivers of America prep and ready for the day's activities. But he wanted more and in time he built New Orleans Square, and with it came two of perhaps Disney's greatest attractions, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion, benchmarking each end of the square. They sandwiched an unusual twist of streets with shops and restaurants, with his beloved train passing through. And all of it was tied together by the legendary Mark Twain Steamboat. It is quintessentially one of the most unique spaces in any Disney park. And with it come some wonderful inspirational lessons in business and life. So in celebration of Disneyland's 70th anniversary, we explore all of this and more in today's podcast which celebrates the charm of both New Orleans Street and Square. ________________________________________________________ Disney Insights YouTube Page--Check it out and subscribe. The Walt Disney Legacy Award is given to cast, crew, and Walt Disney Imagineers worldwide who have these qualities. Hank has been a cast member for the last 62 years, starting as a Jungle Cruise Skipper in 1958. If the math doesn't add up on that, it is because Hank left Disneyland for a few years to be a Garden Grove Firefighter, before returning to Disneyland. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/meet-hank-todays-longest-standing-disney-cast-member/ Fans of the animated windows on Main Street have a new display to enjoy! A new Moana-themed window, featuring Moana, Hei-Hei, Pua, Maui, the Kakamora, and Te Fiti debuted this week. The Mousedebaters talk Disney characters working in the parks. The happiest place on Earth just got a whole lot weirder. This week, the Mousedebaters crew is imagining what it would look like if Disney characters had to punch the clock and pick up shifts inside the parks. Genie takes over Jungle Cruise with hysterical one-liners, celebrity impressions, and spontaneous pyrotechnics. Cruella de Vil is swerving her way through Main Street in a motorcar that definitely wasn't approved by safety. Elsa is running the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor with frosty flair, while Olaf's slinging snow cones like it's his true calling. And of course, Hades is thrilled to be your sarcastic Haunted Mansion host. But that's just the start—Tarzan's landscaping, Barbie's working the front gate, and the Ugly Stepsisters are somehow in charge of princess makeoversIt's chaos. It's hilarious. And it's exactly the kind of magical staffing nightmare only The Mousedebaters could dream up.We'll debate who thrives, who gets fired, and who needs a very strong union rep. So clock in, grab your churro, and settle in for a tour through the most questionable HR department Disney has ever seen.As always, we're a PG-13Disney pod, for grown-up ears only.
In this week's episode, we draft our favorite scenes that you can find inside Disney World, Disneyland, and Universal Orlando attractions. If you're wondering whether or not to wear a costume to a Halloween party at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, here's what you need to know.Does Everyone Dress up at Disney Parks Halloween Parties?Disney Halloween parties are very fun events and, of course, Halloween is a time when many people love to dress up. But if you're heading to your first Disney Halloween party and you're wondering if you should bring a costume on vacation with you, this is what you need to know. Whether you are attending Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World, or the Oogie Boogie Bash Disney at California Adventure at Disneyland, dressing up is a fun way to add to the Halloween spirit.A quick note to keep in mind is that Disney does have rules around what types of costumes are acceptable (and more specifically what is not acceptable), so be sure to check the Disney costume guidelines on their website before you go.Will I Feel Out-of-Place if I Dress Up (or Don't Dress Up) for a Disney Halloween Party?A common question for first-time guests at a Disney Parks Halloween party is “Will I feel out of place if I don't dress up?” Or sometimes, “Will if feel out of place if I do dress up?”In both cases, the answer is no. Disney encourages party guests to dress up because it adds to the festive atmosphere of the parties, but not everyone does. We have been to Disney Halloween events at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World and in our experience, it feels like a 50-50 split (give or take) between costumes and non-costumes on most party nights. People attending Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World may be more inclined to wear a costume compared to the Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland, but either way, whether you go in costume or not is completely up to you. Instead of a Halloween Costume, You Can Go with a Spooky ThemeCast members and other guests love seeing the costumes that guests wear. Some people really go over the top and it is great to see. But, remember to balance the practicality of the costume if you plan to go on rides or do anything other than posing with characters and trick-or-treating.If you don't want to go fully into costume mode, there are other options. An easier way to get into the Halloween spirit of the Disney party vibe is to wear a graphic t-shirt or similar apparel that has a Halloween theme generally (or even a Disney Halloween theme, like Hocus Pocus or even a Haunted Mansion shirt). This is easier to wear, can be more comfortable and won't take up too much extra space in your luggage. Also, if you're attending one of the Disney Halloween parties in August or early September, it can be hot and humid (and even stormy) at night, so that is something to consider no matter what you plan to wear.Shop at 1923 Main Street, the Spirit Brand for Those Who Love to TravelThank you for listening to the Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original travel inspired and subtle Disney travel clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and always remember to roam freely and wear boldly.Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

EPISODE 143 | Paranoia Is Forever: Disney Conspiracies Walt Disney's goal was to make the “Happiest Place on Earth”, and to delight and inspire both children and adults through the ages. Many would say he succeeded beyond even his own wildest expectations. Others might say that Disney is, and always has been, a place of evil.
