IIn this wild, laugh-until-your-ribs-hurt episode of So There I Was, we dive into Marine Corps Harrier pilot stories that blur the line between combat history and barroom legend. We round up a squadron of Harrier pilots — including Spiko, who joins mid-flight — for tales of 8.5-G nozzle breaks in the Philippines, midair collisions, midnight carrier deck landings, and questionable uses for government-issued canteens. “Mongoose” lets the squadron run wild, “Woody” wakes up surrounded by boots, and one Marine's coffee ritual nearly sparks an international hygiene incident. Between the absurd tales, these Marine Corps Harrier pilot stories also carry moments of respect for fallen brothers like LZ and Trey, memorials in their honor, and the unshakable loyalty forged only in the cockpit and combat zone. If you enjoy this chaos in the cockpit, you'll also love Episode 170 for even more Harrier tales and high-speed mishaps. Equal parts irreverent and heartfelt, this is Marine aviation storytelling at its most unfiltered. Strap in, hold on, and prepare for impact. If you love authentic Marine Corps Harrier pilot stories, this episode delivers them with humor, heart, and the thrill of high-speed flight. 542 Pilot in a Harrier

Proprietary butane adapters create refill barriers for Thermosol. 3D-printed adapters offer a customizable refill solution. Butane refill systems include nozzles tailored to Thermosol cartridges. Proprietary check valves in cartridges complicate refills. Pressure management is critical during refilling. Marking the fill line prevents overfilling. O-rings must be carefully removed to access check valves. A wood screw can extract the proprietary check valve. Refilled Thermosol devices often use Chinese-yum pads. Discolored pads indicate the need for replacement. Yard waste storage increases fire risk for Thermosol. "Slit in the middle" adapters enable effective refills. Adapter design mimics regular butane cartridge geometry. Fuel escape through slits rather than central tube. Overfilling leads to excessive pressure buildup. Reusing empty Thermosol containers via refills. Combining DIY methods with commercial refill kits. Alternative nozzles may fail without proper adapter. Proprietary valve removal enables long-term cost savings. RECOMMENDATIONS: Use 3D-printed adapters for Thermosol refills. Extract proprietary check valves with a wood screw. Mark the fill line to prevent overfilling. Replace o-rings carefully to avoid damage. Store Thermosol in fire-safe containers. Combine DIY slits with commercial nozzles. Swap out discolored pads regularly. Repurpose empty Thermosol containers via refills. Use a tapered object with a central slit for refills. Avoid proprietary adapters by modifying existing nozzles. Pressurize and depressurize during refill cycles. Source affordable Chinese-yum pads for replacements. Inspect valves for one-way check mechanisms. Follow video tutorials for adapter installation. Prioritize sealed containers for long-term storage. Adapt butane lighter attachments for Thermosol. Test refill methods with empty containers first. Document fill line marks for future reference. Compare DIY solutions to commercial refill kits. Advocate for open-standard Thermosol refills. Provide feedback on this episode.

Where in the world am I? Brazil planning Hi there. I'm Dr. Mary Travelbest, returning from a recent trip to Asia. I'm in San Diego now, sharing my best travel ideas and working on another book for you to enjoy: 5 Steps to Solo Travel, Part C. I'm about to launch on a 90-day trip around the world. Listener Story Spotlight I want to tell you about a listener named Juliana who is from Brazil. She was a student of mine and now she works with me. She gave me a list of all the places in Brazil that I should be going to.She and I have known each other for 3 years. She's so beautiful and full of life. I'm so grateful for. Quick fire FAQ: The FAQ for today is:  Should I carry books with me to read on the trip? I recommend you download them from your local or cloud library. Then you read on the go. Don't carry more than you need. 3 things: neighborhood selection, daylight itineraries, scam avoidance Select neighborhoods that are walkable and have public transportation nearby if you don't drive. Read reviews on the AirBNB website before you select. When booking a flight or train, be sure it arrives at a daylight time, which can differ in winter months. If it comes after dark, it will be more of a challenge for you.  To avoid scams, be cautious when choosing passwords, logging out of websites, and making online purchases. These are very typical scams. If you are suspicious, you may be right to avoid that vendor and choose another. Don't look like a target, either   Today's destination is: Brazil. There's a kind of tired that sleep doesn't fix. A weariness that goes deeper than the body. Spiritual burnout happens when we're doing all the right things—but no longer from the right source. The passion fades. The prayers dry up. And you start wondering if you have anything left to give. Our springboard for today's discussion is:“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 (ESV)Jesus never asked us to carry the full weight of ministry, family, or life on our own. Yet we often try. We serve. We give. We lead. We pour out. And if we're not careful, we stop going to the well and start running on empty.Burnout doesn't always come from rebellion—it often comes from running without refueling. If you're feeling numb spiritually, that's not a sign of failure. It's a signal that something needs to be realigned. And Jesus' invitation is simple: “Come to Me.”Not to a new strategy. Not to a performance checklist. To Him.Rest is not found in inactivity—it's found in intimacy. You can be busy and still burn bright if you're rooted in Christ. And you can be doing “good things” but missing the best thing—sitting at His feet.Take time to return. Slow down. Let God minister to you. Let Him remind you that your value is not in your output—it's in your relationship with Him.He doesn't want you to burn out. He wants you to burn with Him—not away from Him.Question of the Day:Where have you been giving without receiving—and how can you come back to Jesus for rest?Mini Call to Action:Block out 15 minutes today. No phone. No noise. Just sit with God. Don't perform—just be present.Let's Pray:Jesus, I'm tired. Not just in my body, but in my soul. I come back to You. Restore me. Refill me. Teach me to rest in Your presence, not just serve from it. In Your name, amen.Let's Get To Work! You weren't created to run on empty—come back to the well that never runs dry.My Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. Summer Solstice Sister Circle: Reclaiming Space, Sisterhood, and Solace (Inspired by the book The Red Tent)The ancient world was egalitarian and matriarchal for 95% of its existence. Then patriarchy and colonization restructured the world. But what it could not change was the fact that women who lived together synced cycles. And during that week that they bled, they entered "the red tent", a place where they left the world and demands of men outside and fed themselves: mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. They breathed. They rested. They spoke their minds. They did self care, and they supported and encouraged one another. They took up space unapologetically. If you have a yoni, come to our red tent. (Ages 13 and up).Join us on the longest day of the year—the Summer Solstice, a sacred moment when nature celebrates fullness, expansion, and vitality and celebrate taking the space and time you need and you deserve. Step away from daily demands and into a moment designed for deep feminine renewal. This evening gathering offers the perfect blend of restorative practices and community connection to reset your nervous system and welcome summer with clarity.

We open with a statement from Spain that seems to point to a failure of their green tech on the solar side that led to the catastrophic shutdown of their entire power grid. In Canada, they have decided to elect the liberal Mark Carney who believes they can continue on the world economic stage without being a partner with the United States. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) claims everything is up under Trump's first 100 days, but that seems to be more about wishful thinking rather than reality. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about Amazon's decision to add a “tariff” line to all sales. She accurately calls it political, but before the story can last even a few hours, a call from Donald Trump to Jeff Bezos seems to have killed that idea. At the same time, Wal-Mart is making a push to help small-to-mid sized American companies get their products on their shelves. Now, to the slow-walking Republicans in the House and Senate. I address my frustrations, but am still prepared to give it more time given some insider information from the White House and the significance of wanting to pass the “big beautiful bill” on Independence Day. Seems Mayor Bowser (D-D.C.) might be in some hot water with a trip she made to Qatar in 2023. Another woman thinks she knows the workaround for student debt and tells us how smart she is about it. Finally, DOGE's fixes to the Treasury payment system just went into effect and only one week in, has stopped $335,000,000.00 dollars in payments missing required information.
