Danae Mercer has built a global platform exposing the truth behind what we see online—how angles, lighting, editing, and now AI can completely distort reality. But today, it goes beyond filters. With the rise of GLP-1s, hyper-edited content, and constant comparison, the pressure on our bodies and our minds—has reached a new level. In this episode, we talk about body image in today's world, the link between social media and anxiety, and what it means to raise children in an environment where comparison feels constant and often unavoidable. We get into:The pressure to “bounce back” after motherhoodAI influencers and unrealistic standardsSocial media's impact on confidence and self-worthAnd how to actually raise grounded, confident kids in a filtered world (especially girl moms!) This episode is for anyone navigating body image—and every parent asking: how do we protect our kids from a world that keeps telling them they're not enough?
Some things are better filtered out. Algorithms do it on our computers and phones. God does it when we're tempted.
In this episode of the SwineTime Podcast, host Dr. Spencer Wayne welcomes Dr. Adam Schelkopf, Pipestone veterinarian and partner, for a candid discussion on air filtration in wean‑to‑market pig barns and where it realistically fits into today's PRRS control strategies.PRRS continues to be one of the most challenging and costlydiseases in pork production. While air filtration has been successfully used for decades in sow farms and boar studs, applying that same technology to growing pig barns has long been considered impractical. However, increasing pig density, neighborhood disease pressure, and repeated outbreaks are pushing some producers to re‑evaluate whether filtration could serve as an additional biosecurity tool in select wean‑to‑market systems.Dr. Schelkopf is clear throughout the episode: filtration is not a solution to PRRS. It does not eliminate risk, and it does not replace foundational biosecurity practices. Instead, filtration should be viewed as a risk‑management option—one that may help certain producers improve their odds by reducing the frequency of PRRS breaks or delaying exposure during critical production phases.A key focus of the discussion is timing. Many herds break with PRRS shortly after pigs are placed, before vaccines have enough time to provide meaningful immunity. In those scenarios, filtration may help protect pigs during their most vulnerable early weeks, allowing immunity to develop andreducing mortality or production losses. Even a short delay in exposure can make a significant difference in outcomes, without implying long‑term disease exclusion. The episode also explores how wean‑to‑market filtration systems could function in practice, emphasizing that there is no single standard design. Possible approaches may include inlet filtration during periods of negative‑pressure ventilation, with protection that is often seasonal due to the need for tunnel ventilation at certain times of the year. Because barn design, geography, management style, and disease pressure differ from operation to operation, the exact setup will vary by producer and facility. These realities reinforce the importance of realistic expectations—filtration may improve the odds against disease exposure, but it does not create a sealed or disease‑proof environment.Execution and economics are also central to the conversation. Both veterinarians stress that filtration in wean‑to‑market barns only makes sense when weighed against the true cost of repeated disease breaks, lost performance, and mortality. The value proposition will differ widely by operation, region, and disease pressure. Just as important, success depends heavily on execution. Filtered growing pig barns demand strong ventilation management, attention to airflow and sealing, routine monitoring, and caretakers who consistently operate at a high level. Not every barn, team, or productionsystem is well‑suited for that level of complexity, which is why filtration is best viewed as a targeted option for select situations rather than a universal recommendation. Finally, Dr. Schelkopf stresses that basic biosecurity still matters most. Showering, boot and clothing changes, controlled access, and disciplined routines remain essential. Filtration cannot compensate for weak fundamentals. For producers facing chronic PRRS pressure and asking, “What else can we do?”—this episode offers a realistic, experience‑based perspective on where wean‑to‑market air filtration fits, where it does not, and why it should be considered a tool, not a cure.

3. The debate shifts to the historical Nero, examining his legacy as both a builder and a man tormented by violent mistakes, including the murder of his mother. Germanicus notes that modern perceptions of Nero are often filtered through Victorian sentimentality or biased historical accounts. They compare contemporary leadership to a generational decline in Rome, moving from the magisterial balance of Augustus to progressively "weak" subsequent cohorts. Germanicus observes that the current emperor is too restless for the meditation required of a leader, which is visibly wearing him down. The speakers anticipate a period of chaos and renewal in America, similar to Rome's transition to the Flavian dynasty after Nero's suicide. The session concludes with a play about Xerxes' defeat, suggesting a similar "messenger of defeat" is currently heading toward Washington to report the failing war effort. (3)NORSEMEN

Drinking more water does not automatically mean you are better hydrated, especially when that water cannot actually enter the cell. I'm probably too open about my inner life. What I'm thinking. What I'm struggling with. What I don't understand yet.I don't know many people in academia who are that public. I do it because I hope it helps someone else feel normal. But I also know it comes with a cost.Because I don't like strategic behavior. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And here's the thing I've learned with age:When something feels off in an interaction, it usually is.I used to ignore that feeling.I don't anymore. If I get that quiet “Spidey sense” now, I listen. Almost every time, it ends up being about inauthenticity. Filtered information. Positioning. Someone playing a game I didn't agree to play. What surprised me most as I got older is this:There are very few people in your life who are fully open, fully honest, and genuinely want you to do well.Very few.And I think business education taught us the wrong lesson. We train people to be strategic. To optimize. To get ahead. In my experience, that kind of strategy erodes trust, culture, and real relationships. It “works” in narrow ways. And quietly destroys everything else.So yes, I keep my heart open. And yes, that means I get hurt. But I'd rather live that way than turn into someone I don't recognize. If you're open and honest, don't expect short-term career rewards. Maybe long-term. Maybe not. But you will sleep at night knowing you were real.
Everyone wants to be authentic, but few are willing to be fully themselves in a filtered culture. Chalene Johnson did not build her empire by chasing attention. She built it by choosing clarity over chaos and truth over performance. She stayed fully herself even when the culture moved in the opposite direction. She understands that the strongest influence isn't created in a moment. It's built over time through clarity, strategy, and consistency. In this episode, Emily and Chalene explore the content strategy that deepens with time, the kind that turns authenticity into timeless authority. Together, they unpack the shift happening in the creator economy, the future of premium content, and how leaders can stay fully aligned while adapting to change. Gautum Mukunda, Harvard professor and author of Indispensable: When Leaders Really Matter, reveals the paradox at the heart of leadership selection: the more effort you put into picking a leader, the less it matters who you pick. Drawing from decades of presidential history, Mukunda introduces the concept of filtered versus unfiltered leaders—George H.W. Bush represents the filtered ideal with 44 years in government before becoming president, while Barack Obama exemplifies the unfiltered wildcard with only three years in the Senate. Filtered leaders are predictably competent; unfiltered leaders are remarkable for better or worse, usually worse, because there are far more ways to fail than succeed. Mukunda argues that America picks unfiltered presidents half the time, more than any other major democracy, which explains both George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Roosevelt at moments of crisis and spectacular failures in between. He warns that winning Russian roulette doesn't mean you should keep playing and explores why Indian American identity, immigrant narratives, and cultural preservation matter in an era when the president said his community's success damages America. The filter, which can be either linear or nonlinear, changes the original chaotic signal's properties in measurable ways. The study of filtered chaos is important for applications where chaotic signals are used, or where they pass through instruments or communication channels that act as filters. Key conceptsChaos: A type of behavior in a deterministic system that is highly sensitive to initial conditions. This is popularly known as the butterfly effect, where small changes can lead to large, seemingly random differences in the system's future state.Chaotic signal: The time series of data produced by a chaotic system, which appears random but is governed by deterministic rules.Filter: A process or device that removes unwanted components or features from a signal. For example, a low-pass filter removes high-frequency components, while a band-pass filter allows only a certain range of frequencies to pass through. Effects of filtering chaosThe main impact of filtering a chaotic signal is that the resulting signal may exhibit very different statistical and geometric properties than the original chaos.Changes in dimensionality: Filtering can increase the observed fractal dimension of a chaotic system. This means that after passing through a filter, the signal's complex, space-filling geometric structure can appear even more complicated. This distortion is particularly noticeable with low-pass filters.Signal modification: Filters alter the amplitude and frequency characteristics of a signal. When a chaotic signal is filtered, this can change its apparent "randomness," which affects how it might be used in a communications system.Preservation of symbolic dynamics: Surprisingly, while filtering can affect the geometric shape of a chaotic attractor, it may leave certain symbolic characteristics intact. For instance, a signal's topological entropy—a measure of its complexity—can be invariant even after filtering. Applications of filtered chaosUnderstanding how filters affect chaotic signals is critical in several engineering and scientific applications.Secure communication: One method of secure communication, known as "chaos pass filtering," mixes a secret message with a chaotic signal before transmission. A synchronized chaotic system on the receiving end can then filter out the chaotic carrier signal to recover the message.Radar and signal detection: Researchers have explored the use of "matched filters" designed to detect specific chaotic waveforms in the presence of noise. This can be used for improved signal detection and signal-to-noise ratio in applications like radar.Real-time applications: In fields like electrical engineering and control systems, chaotic modeling is used for various purposes, from synchronizing systems to mitigating radio-frequency interference. Filters are essential tools for managing and processing these chaotic signals in real-time.Geophysical modeling: Filtering techniques are used with high-dimensional chaotic systems, such as atmospheric and climate models. Due to the high sensitivity and vast scale of these systems, researchers use filters to make sense of noisy observations and produce probabilistic estimates of the system's state.
Water is the most important nutrient and yet people tend to choose the worst source of it. Cydian Kauffman from Pure Water Northwest attacks this topic with laboratory analysis and logic to customize a treatment plant specific his customers needs. In this episode we discuss the various water challenges that we all have and what what can be done about it. Join us for the fun and even controversial discussion that covers everything from scams to medical freedom and even the fluoridated water debate. One interesting part of the discussion was the revelation that most bottled water is filtered municipal water. The disturbing part about this is that municipal water is mostly filtered sewage.RESOURCES:Visit this episode's blog page:https://drhaley.com/bottled-water-is-filtered-sewage/Visit Cydian Kauffman's corporate website:https://purewaternorthwest.com/Watch this episode on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CY8Sw9jWfCwTIMESTAMPS:00:00 Intro Snip01:25 Introduce Cydian Kauffman03:06 How Cydian Kauffman got into the water business04:31 What are the standards that the EPA sets for water? Instant coffee increases dry age-related macular degeneration risk nearly sevenfold compared to other coffee types, according to genetic studies Each cup of instant coffee causes equivalent of 0.38 years additional biological aging by shortening protective telomeres on chromosomes Instant coffee contains more contaminants like acrylamide, lead, and advanced glycation end products due to intense heat processing methods Filtered coffee using freshly ground beans shows no harmful effects on telomeres or eye disease risk in research studies Experts recommend completely avoiding instant coffee and switching to organic, shade-grown filtered coffee to protect long-term health

Coffee—is it friend or foe? That seemingly innocent question sparked this deep dive into coffee science after a colleague questioned my own consumption habits. As a health professional and coffee enthusiast, I was surprised by the persistent myths surrounding this beloved bean.Coffee contains over a thousand bioactive compounds beyond caffeine, including powerful antioxidants called chlorogenic acids that demonstrate anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and anti-cancer properties. Research consistently shows that moderate coffee consumption (3-4 cups daily) correlates with reduced risks of cardiovascular disease, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and several types of cancer. Even your gut microbiome benefits, with studies identifying specific beneficial bacteria that flourish exclusively in coffee drinkers. But not all coffee is created equal. Filtered coffee traps cholesterol-raising diterpenes that pass through into French press and espresso preparations. Light to medium roasts preserve more beneficial compounds than darker roasts, though the latter develops more complex flavors. Adding cow's milk potentially binds to beneficial polyphenols, while plant milks appear not to interfere with these compounds. And those sugary, cream-laden specialty drinks? They likely negate most health benefits you'd otherwise receive. Some people metabolize caffeine slowly due to genetic variations, making them more susceptible to jitters, anxiety, and blood pressure changes. Pregnant women should limit intake to under 200mg daily. But don't worry—decaf still delivers most of coffee's health benefits minus the stimulant effects. The key is moderation, mindful timing (avoid late-day consumption to protect sleep), and listening to your body's unique response.Ready to optimize your daily brew? Send us a textWhat happens when you're raised by a Greek mother who tells you that "it's better to lose an eye than your name"? You might just become one of California's top-rated wealth advisors who refuses to compromise on excellence, even when it means tearing apart a perfectly good dress and starting over.George Papadoyannis joins the Bamboo Lab Podcast from his villa in Greece to share the remarkable journey that took him from Crete to the heights of the financial world. With refreshing candor, he reveals how his mother's relentless standards and sixth-grade wisdom shaped his approach to client relationships and business success. "I believe people hire people like me so we can tell them the truth," George explains, reflecting on how authenticity has become his greatest competitive advantage in an increasingly artificial world. The conversation explores the powerful tension between work ethic and life balance, with George acknowledging the personal costs of his one-dimensional focus on excellence. Yet even as he discusses divorce and other challenges, his enthusiasm for learning from clients remains contagious. He describes 91-year-old clients who still drive Teslas and prepare for Greek vacations by training at the YMCA, inspiring him to constantly evolve and grow. "When I grow up," he quips about these nonagenarians, "I want to be just like them."As artificial intelligence makes it increasingly difficult to distinguish genuine communication from generated content, George's message about staying hungry for knowledge, experiences, and service to others becomes even more vital. His final wisdom crystallizes a lifetime of lessons: "Create a legacy that your children and grandchildren will be proud of. A legacy of servitude is a good one... Try to leave this place better than you found it."Whether you're building a career, seeking financial wisdom, or simply trying to navigate life with greater authenticity, this conversation offers a blueprint worth hearing. After all, as George discovered through decades of success, "being a giver rather than a taker is much more fun."Support the showhttps://bamboolab3.com/
We're diving into Kris Jenner's recent facelift reveal, and why her transparency is both refreshing and complicated. While we applaud her openness about getting work done, we also need to talk about the ongoing use of filters, Facetune, and digital tweaks that still distort what we see online. It's a reminder that even when celebrities are honest about procedures, what they post is still far from unfiltered reality. In this episode, we open up the conversation about comparison culture, digital beauty standards, and the impact this has on everyday women. Are we chasing real results or filtered fantasies? Let's get honest about beauty in the age of editing.

Question: I am a registered psychotherapist and I reject Freudian and Jungian beliefs. However, I did find that when you remove these demonic influences and stick with the "science" behind psychology and filter it through the Bible that it's a powerful tool. Proverbs in particular along with New Testament scriptures encourage us to guard our heart and mind, renew our mind with God's Word, and find peace of mind. The Bible is actually the BASIS of TRUE Psychotherapy if you study the subject biblically. What do you say?Response: It's instructive that just in the last week we have been contacted by Christian psychologists who insist that "psychotherapy" by name has been discarded by Christians who limit themselves to being called Biblical Counselors. Further, secular psychologists have also gone down this path. We appreciate your "rejection" of Freudian and Jungian beliefs. It is clear that your heart is for those you seek to help. With that in mind, the pertinent question to ask, however, is how thorough that process has been? We say that because some of these counselors are still using the teachings of those you correctly label as "demonic influences."Other psychologists have "come out" with the same concern for how they have been trained, and what they have learned in practices that span several decades.More recently, the Transgender movement has shown that "science" has very little to do with an utterly emotional, anti-science practice. So, we have to make sure we've gutted the structure of psychology/psychotherapy.There is, however, the often seen reference to the “Science” of psychology. There's a fascinating article entitled The Puzzle of Paul Meehl: An intellectual history of research criticism in psychology (i.e., checking them out from the perspective of real science [https://bit.ly/4ihy1qX]).Professor Andrew Gelman writes, "There's nothing wrong with Meehl. He's great. The Puzzle of Paul Meehl is that everything we're saying now, all this stuff about the problems with Psychological Science and PPNAS and Ted Talks and all that, Paul Meehl was saying 50 years ago. And it was no secret. So how is it that all this was happening, in plain sight, and now here we are?"Meehl concluded his 1967 article by saying, "Some of the more horrible examples of this process would require the combined analytic and reconstructive efforts of Carnap, Hempel, and Popper to unscramble the logical relationships of theories and hypotheses to evidence. Meanwhile our eager-beaver researcher, undismayed by logic-of-science considerations and relying blissfully on the ‘exactitude' of modem statistical hypothesis-testing, has produced a long publication list and been promoted to a full professorship. In terms of his contribution to the enduring body of psychological knowledge, he has done hardly anything."We will pray that as you devise your way, the Lord will direct your steps further.
