The Blue Bombers are a strong team, but injuries have affected their performance. They still have the potential to be dangerous in the playoffs. The Calgary Stampeders have been surprising with their performance, and quarterback Jake Maier has shown more confidence. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have a history of slow starts but often end up in the playoffs. The Edmonton-Ottawa game is anticipated due to the drama surrounding the coaching change in Edmonton. The Toronto-Hamilton game is also of interest, as both teams have struggled this season.Chapters00:00 - Chris Jones' Firing12:58 - Hamilton-Toronto Rivalry19:19 - Standout Performances in the CFL25:12 - Blue Bombers' Dominance30:29 - Injury Concerns35:05 - Surprising Performances37:16 - Scheduling Games48:22 - Game of the WeekThe Ticats Audio Network provides Hamilton Tiger-Cats fans with the most comprehensive, entertaining and informative news and information about their favourite football team. Wally Buono is the winningest coach in CFL history who led the teams he coached to a remarkable five Grey Cup wins. And that's on top of the two Grey cups he won as a player. Wally, along with his older brother and his mother arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax from Southern Italy in the early 1950s, on their way to Montreal to join their father. In a wide-ranging conversation with host Paolo Pietropaolo Wally shares the early challenges his family faced after the tragic loss of his father, and the mentors Wally was helped along by in those tough years in the aftermath of that loss. Mentors who, along with his incredible mother, taught Wally a lot about the value of a supportive community, and how that influenced his approach to coaching. “You know, what you're trying to do with a football team is build a family structure, build a family atmosphere, you know, obviously if you show love and respect to your children and to your wife, the players see that. They see that your words aren't idle or they're not empty, and a lot of them don't necessarily always come from that.”

Solomon had an outstanding 10 year career in the CFL playing for the BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders. Baseball was his first love as a sport, but football is where he would make a name for himself. He was not highly recruited out of high school, but went to the University of Hawaii where he developed into a star. He left as the schools all-time leader in tackles. Despite his success, he didn't get much attention from the NFL. He trained for months hoping for an opportunity. That opportunity came from the CFL, a league which he had no idea about. CFL coaching legend Wally Buono gave him a shot, even though it took two workouts to do it. He made an impression right away, winning the leagues Rookie of the Year award in his first season. He went on to win many awards, as well as a Grey Cup Championship in a memorable 2011 season. He's now still involved in the game, serving as the President of the CFL Players Association, and working towards a return to the field for this season. TSN’s Farhan Lalji, a 31-year high school football coach in the province of B.C., stops by to chat with host Howard Tsumura about a whole host of topics. This coming Saturday at B.C. Place Stadium would have been the 2020 Subway Bowl provincial championship finals, so we chat about everything in and around the high school and university football scene, and how COVID-19 has cut a swath straight through its heart. In an episode taped just as Wednesday’s Pittsburgh-Baltimore game was set to kick off, Lalji and Tsumura also talk about the silver lining in a tough season: The mergence of Abbotsford Panthers grad Chase Claypool over his rookie season with the Steeler. The pair also examine the re-emergence of the ‘big’ receiver in the NFL through a discussion of the impact both Claypool and Seattle’s DK Metclaf are having despite being drafted outside of the opening round the past two drafts. Lalji also reflects on his time at Simon Fraser University in the early 1990s when he served as the school’s sports information director. He also talks about three special mentors in Alex Reid, Allison McNeill and Wally Buono. Varsity Letters, Canada’s only podcast dedicated solely to provincial university and high school sports coverage, is produced by Gabriel Lynn, and available at Apple Music, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. If you’re listening to us on Apple Music, please take the time time to give us a rating. The more stars (five) the better, and it helps potential listeners find our weekly podcast! Now every CFL game matters -- except those involving the Montreal Alouettes or the Toronto Argonauts.  On this week's episode of the Rouge, White & Blue CFL Podcast, co-hosts Os Davis and Joe Prtichard give the eulogy for those two sad teams in the East, particulary the *defending champion* Argos. What happened? Meanwhile the Edmonton Eskimos are flailing and trashing about in a race for the final playoff spot. What's happening there? As for the Eskimos' now primary competition, BC Lions, Os reckons Wally Buono's guys are looking more and more like a team of destiny on its way to a Grey Cup appearance (if not an upset of the West champs). What will happen? Finally, the RWB takes on the biggest question of all: Who is the 2018 CFL Most Outstanding Player? Os has an alternative pick or two to the chalk.
