Diether Claeys groeide op in een ondernemersfamilie en hielp van jongs af aan mee in het bedrijf van zijn ouders, actief in sanitair en centrale verwarming. Later kreeg hij de kans om naar Londen te verhuizen om daar een nieuwe start-up te leiden voor Texaco. Een opportuniteit die hij met beide handen greep en voor hem het perfecte kruispunt tussen managen en ondernemen. De liefde bracht hem uiteindelijk terug naar België, waar hij zijn partner An leerde kennen. Hij ging aan de slag bij MediaMarkt, waar hij zich vooral toelegde op het optimaliseren van de klantenrelaties en de service. Na een volgende stap bij Toyota kwam hij terecht bij het familiebedrijf Impermo, waar hij verantwoordelijk werd voor sales en marketing. Hij nog steeds dankbaar voor wat hij leerde tijdens deze periode. Ondernemen met familiale aandeelhouders brengt een aparte dynamiek met zich mee. Soms uitdagend, maar vaak ook bijzonder waardevol. Toch begon het ondernemersbloed opnieuw te kriebelen en besloot Diether een grote stap te zetten: hij zou een eigen bedrijf kopen.In zijn zoektocht hanteerde Diether duidelijke criteria, gebaseerd op de lessen uit zijn carrière bij grotere bedrijven. Hij koos er bewust voor om een bestaand bedrijf over te nemen met een stevige trackrecord, liever dan vanaf nul te beginnen. Dat was niet alleen een keuze ingegeven door zijnleeftijd, maar ook door het heldere beeld dat hij had van waar hij met zijn opgebouwde skillset het grootste verschil kon maken. Zo kwam hij uit bij Manufar, een fabrikant van veiligheidsdeuren met 45 jaar ervaring, waar de eigenaar geen opvolging had.
