In this important period I need to be ultra efficient, I don't have a second to lose and I try to optimize my work time as much as possible. And that's exactly what I want to talk about today, by explaining a technique to get out of my comfort zone more easily and boost my creativity and efficiency! How to manage your stress? How to do when you feel like your brain is going to blow up because you have so many things on your mind... When we analyze properly, we buy a solution, a product or a service from the moment we have an awareness. It is when we realize that a solution will allow us to reduce a pain or to improve a part of our life. And when we look at it carefully, this is not directly related to the features of a product or a solution. As an entrepreneur we often tend to focus on our actions, on what we need to put in place to make our product perform at its best and or to master all the actions necessary to achieve a certain result. The difficulty is that in the end, people are not aware of the steps or products needed for their difficulties or to improve their life. And we all do the same thing, for example we pay very little attention to the steps necessary for a baker to sell us bread. In the same way, our customers are only interested in the final result produced by our solution. So how do we convince them of the usefulness of what we have to offer? Certainly not by talking about features or technical details, but rather by generating emotions. Sharing the story of similar people who have already achieved this particular result. It's through emotion that people are carried away and that they will then justify their decision with technical details or testimonials from previous customers. Need a concrete example, think about Apple products and the ads you see on TV or on billboards in the street. There are usually no technical details. When people starts on Youtube or with podcasting, almost everyone makes the same mistake! A mistake that is expensive and a real waste of your time. If you are in this situation, you might wonder: - Which camera to choose? - How to improve the lighting, how to edit my videos? - How to cut when I make a mistake - etc... All these questions & tasks that are time consuming and won't make a big difference on the final result anyway. The ONLY important action is to record as much content as possible and get as much feedback as possible. Because even if the form of your important, the content, the message is even more important. And unfortunately it takes much more time to improve the content than the look and field. You're unlikely to become good at shooting video overnight, it will take lot of practice. How often do we hear it: "I don't have time for X, no time for Y..." But behind this common sentence, there are two hidden reasons: 1) Either we don't like to do something 2) Either we don't know how to do effectively, what we should do. Often it's a bit of both, because we can be afraid of the time it could take to do this famous task. Simply because we are not efficient at the moment. So, in the end, what really counts is to do the tasks that have the most impact on our business and that make us grow. Personally, I don't see any benefits in bookkeeping and I have been delegating this for years. On the other hand, delegating strategic tasks such as communication can be a mistake. I have to say that I hate taking a selfie of myself. I don't really understand why lot of people need share the good moment of their life to really enjoying it. I have to say that I get more and more passionate by Webmarketing. I believe that it's because I'm a tech guys and that it's a very complementary skill to have. I recently coached a startup that just closed their first seed round. Then we prepared all the company's goals and more specifically, we worked on 3 type of goals: 1) The product: What strategy, how useful will it be for the end users, what features do we want to ask... 2) The marketing: This include everything regarding the brand recognition, the community, social media the traction as well as how often the users use the product. 3) Finance/Cashflow: Which is the most important for any business. And what I like to metric I like to consider in startups is the "runway". In other words how much time do we have left before running out of money. And the goal is of course to have an infinite runway where you'll earn more than what you spend every months. I've launch several startups already and try several times to raise funds. I don't know if it's because I'm a Tech guy, if it's because I don't have the right words for investors, but I never got a dime from external investments, not even public grants. The only things I got were loans... And what I can tell you about it is that, whenever you need to pay yourself and bring money every single month, then you really focus on what matter: Your customers. So if you would ask me the question between bootstrapping and raising funds, I woulg go 100% on bootstrapping. We have everything we needs nowadays to create some traction, even without any product. Video production became more easy than ever, we can attract user on social media by focusing on one specific topic and prove our market. So if you found yourself putting too much energy on raising fund, stop it, and focus on your clients instead.
