Buy Me a Coffee Learn More about Made Whole In this episode Dafne and I talk about balancing blood sugar and reversing insulin resistance. Yes, you read that correctly. You can actually reverse insulin resistance and restore yourself and the cells that have become resistant to carrying the insulin to where it needs to go. Many women don't realize this but insulin is THE hormone that we need to understand at every stage of life. When you notice your blood sugar fluctuating, it's one of the first signs your body will throw out to tell you that you're headed into burnout from stress and not getting enough nutrients and calories in your diet. The next possible sign women will begin seeing is thyroid problems, hormone struggles and trouble with their cycles. I have barely seen a woman in the last 6 months who wasn't struggling from some form of these things. Dafe is a great source for someone who is looking for a natural alternative to healing. She has learned a lot from over the years from heal herself from rheumatoid arthritis, and navigating life with Hashimotos to parenting kids with autoimmune conditions all while keeping her joy as she juggles life as a mom, business owner and handler of all the medical things. Dafne is a nutrition expert who guides women on a spirit-led journey to wholeness after they receive a diagnosis. After healing from rheumatoid arthritis, and then watching her kids struggle with their own autoimmune conditions, she decided to open a holistic coaching business designed to help women who feel overwhelmed about where to even begin. She's a wife, retired homeschool mom to 3 adult kids, host of her own podcast Conquering Chronic Illness, and the author of BREAKTHROUGH, a free e-book you can download to start on your own journey to wholeness. Email me to be apart at contact@cassiehutton.com Visit the new website In this episode I'm sharing my personal journey of hormone imbalances that are actually due to mineral deficiencies. With every pregnancy we have, we give out 10% of our minerals. That's equivalent to 4 pounds of minerals! If we're not replenishing our bodies with proper nutrients then we will find ourselves in the same spiralling downfall of hormonal imbalances that the previous generation has found themselves in and the ones after us will come into it even sooner. Our food and daily essentials continue to get more and more harmful to our bodies because of the additives and chemicals. Balancing your hormones isn't about cutting out certain foods or treating the hormone imbalance with synthetic hormones, but about restoring the very cells that communicate with our bodies to release certain hormones. So many women find themselves in the same vicious cycle and it almost always begins with blood sugar issues that turn into thyroid issues, hormone issue, autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis, adrenal fatigue, etc. It's time to take back your health, stop treating your symptoms and target the root issue of why it all started in the first place. If we are made from the dust like Genesis 2:7 says we are, then it only makes sense to replenish the very minerals that we are made from first. But, we didn't get too heavily into solutions or how you can be proactive about things to prevent those problems. So, we're going back to the very beginning, and there's a lot of carryover from how the birth goes to how breast-feeding will go. Jennifer is back this time to talk about vaccines! She is a mom and a lactation consultant and childbirth educator. Her background is in kinesiology and she was a former biology teacher so she has a natural interest in vaccines. In this episode, she shares her knowledge about childhood vaccines and how you, as a parent can make informed decisions. She began to question vaccines when her son started having health issues and chronic ear infections at a very young age. She breaks down how vaccines work in our body and the difference between the natural process and the way the body interacts differently with vaccines compared to the natural way a virus or disease would enter the body through our airways. Dairy allergies and seasonal air born allergies can all be contributed to vaccines and why our body will react to things like shellfish and dairy. And, of course, we all have heard that there is a link between autism and vaccines as well. She breaks all of this down and presents the data and resources for us. By law, natural remedies for sickness, illness, and disease cannot be proven safe because they can't be patented. No money to be made, no researchers care to prove its safety but God has given us tons of resources to heal our gut health and illnesses that arise with foods that are immune boosters. In 1986 the vaccine manufactures were granted immunity from liability from adverse reactions to vaccines. Because of this, we see where vaccines began to explode and where our grandparents received only a handful of vaccines, our children are now pumped full of them. So, if you or your child suffers an illness due to the vaccine, you are probably not going to receive compensation for your medical illness and treatment because the courts ruling. In 1983, children received about 10 vaccines. Now, I can't even count the amount of vaccines but they start in utero and by two months old a baby has had more vaccines than someone did their whole life in 1983. Do you suffer from endometriosis, PCOS, inflammation in your body, and feel like your body is constantly at war with itself? Dr. Lj Johnson PsyD. IHP. FDNP. IIN, is a women's hormone coach specializing in endometriosis, PCOS and fibroids. Lj has worked in the women's health and fitness industry for over 20 years while overcoming her own diagnosis of endometriosis. Lj's passion is to empower, motivate and educate all women they too can have quality of life despite their symptoms or diagnosis. In this episode Dr. Lj defines endometriosis and talks about the symptoms behind this dreaded and debilitating diagnosis. She also talks about symptoms behind "silent" endo and what to look for. We touch on cycle synching, how to eat, exercise, and detox according to your cycle and so much more! As Lj defines it- endometriosis is uterine like tissue found outside of the uterus. It is not uterine lining. It is not endometrium it is not endometrial lining. It is uterine like tissue found outside of the uterus. It is hormonally driven. It creates its own hormones. It is not a reproductive disorder, it's not a period problem. You're not just not a weak woman that can't handle your period. It is so much more. It is chronic systemic inflammation throughout your entire body and if that is not enough, it also causes auto immune like factors. The biggest thing Dr. Lj wants to circle back to and say is it is uterine like tissue found outside of the uterus. When we really grasp a hold of that, that's where some of those misconceptions can be cleared up. You don't need to have a full hysterectomy. That's not going to cure your Endo. When it seems like certain times in your world that none of your medication‘s work that's when it's time to start digging deeper. The thing that makes endometriosis so tricky is it looks different for everyone! Some signs that you could be suffering from silent endo: A crazy rash that you can't explain, some weird toenail fungus the bloating in your stomach you start having issues with food you're passing out in pain, you're doubled over it's like your body is at war. Inflammation throughout your entire body And lastly what I'm really interested in is what we will come back next time and talk about so hang with us! Maybe you're like me and you've never heard of cycle synching. This is a whole new world but you are really interested! Maybe nobody, like myself, ever gave you permission to rest during your period. Or, also like myself, nobody told you that that brain fog you're experiencing is completely normal because you're in a cycle and you need to work with that cycle and not against it. There are way too many lies that women believe about childbirth that usually lead us to have fear and give in to interventions that cause more harm than good. In this episode, Jazman and I talk about many of the lies that she sees moms believe and some of the new age practices that can become spiritually harmful. She talks about how she helps moms and dads come into the Truth about childbirth and gives them tools that are biblically grounded to help them relax through labor. She also educates her clients on the labor and delivery process so couples are not going into hospitals uneducated and at the mercy of other caregiver's advice. Some of the myths we tackle are: You are supposed to feel like you are dying from the pain of childbirth You have no control over your body during labor You must listen to the doctors and do what they say The doctors are the experts and know exactly what your body and baby need Sage cleansing Inviting your ancestors into your birth experience Christian Hypnobirthing When we internalize lies like "I have to be in pain" we are triggering our fight or fight response to labor and anticipating pain. When we hardwire our brains for that kind of response then we will definitely experience pain in the process. But, if we can rewire our way of thinking about birth and the natural process that God designed, we can actually experience a peaceful, relaxing, and empowering birth!! God called us to live supernaturally, believing that you can have an easy and fear-free birth is possible. Healing before becoming a mother is something many of us don't get an opportunity to do. If you were able to heal and get rid of your extra baggage before motherhood, consider yourself blessed! Many moms need to process their trauma and the word curses spoken over them, the disfunction they came out of, and the fear of becoming the mother they don't want to be. Moms, I want to encourage you, you can "laugh without fear of the future!" just like the Bible says of the Proverbs 31 woman. We don't have to give birth in fear that it will be painful or that something will go terribly wrong and if you have had birth trauma, it is important that you heal from your birthing experience, validate your feelings, forgive your healthcare providers, and choose to take your power and personal bodily autonomy back. We also don't have to parent from fear that we will ruin our children because of our emotional baggage and generational mindsets. Jazman helps moms recognize their traumas and lies and heal so they can move forward with the tools they need in motherhood. She helps to validate their feelings, walk forward in forgiveness, and combat lies with the Truth of God's Word. Jazman knew she was called to birthwork from the age of 5 years old but it wasn't until after moving halfway across the country and finishing her doctorate when she heard the Lord clearly hit her with the call to doula work. She was called out of the work she had trained 8 years for in mental health with moms and their children and into birthwork as a doula, fertility supporter, and lactation consultant. When she decided to take that step of faith in the direction God was leading her, He has been working ever since! But, can you imagine being called to this area of work and watching family after family grow while you haven't received the blessing of a child yourself? Jazman was diagnosed with PCOS and then received supernatural healing and got her cycle back immediately while praying and fasting. She has been regular ever since. So why were they still not getting pregnant? On a whim, she suggested her husband get tested. To their devastation he was diagnosed with azoospermia. Azoospermia is the absence of motile (and hence viable) sperm in the semen. In other words, he had zero sperm count. Despite the diagnosis, that wasn't the hardest part. It was the lack of talking about this issue that was internally agonizing. It wasn't until her husband finally broke down and became vulnerable that they were able to truly heal and see the beauty from the ashes. Through ups and downs, trials and valleys, she has allowed God to heal her heart and no longer struggles with grief when she sees another baby being born, another shower invitation in the mail, or a baby announcement on social media. It is only through God's strength that she can do this work without breaking down. Jazman's story is encouraging to anyone who is called to something they don't feel qualified for. You'll hear that in this episode as her story reminded me of my own and I share of coming out of my own valley just one year ago. You can find Jazman on Facebook Follow her on IG Visit her website
Breastfeeding is one of the most challenging parts of motherhood. When I became a first time mom, (I am embarrassed to admit this) I didn't even know what a nursing bra was and I didn't own one when he arrived!! That's how little I knew about breastfeeding and how much work it was going to take. Especially if you don't have someone there to guide you and help you understand what your baby needs when they: don't latch good your nipples are cracked and bleeding your baby won't stop crying you feel like you have low milk supply If you're a mom that has or is experiencing this, don't lose hope and don't let the next mom you encounter go through what you went through! If you're the one that finds yourself suddenly having graduated from maiden to mother and feel like you're losing yourself in the process don't hesitate to reach out! You are losing yourself, but in a good way. Motherhood makes all of us die to ourselves and come alive in a more selfless way. Do not give up. You're doing a great job! Stephanie progressed beautifully with her first birth up until the point of pushing. Her daughter's head and shoulders got stuck and the doctors opted for her to have a c-section. She didn't know what Spinning Babies was at the time and she trusted that her care providers would help her into positions and tell her what to do with her body to help her baby move down and into a better position. Unfortunately that did not happen. With her second birth her water broke and when she arrived at the hospital she was bullied and told that her baby was going to be over 10lbs. They scared her into a second c-section despite her baby coming out weighing 7lbs. With her third birth she was able to not only move past the hurt and the trauma from certain care providers but she educated herself and found a care provider and hospital that supported her decision for a VBA2C. She found support in a VBAC Facebook group and she put her trust in Jesus! Stephanie leaned on the verse in Isaiah 60:22 as her estimated due date passed and a scheduled c-section was in the books. "The smallest family will become a thousand people, and the tiniest group will become a mighty nation. At the right time, I, the LORD, will make it happen.” Connect with Stephanie on Facebook Follow her on IG Visit her Website The VBAC Link VBAC Facts
How can Jesus be apart of your labor and delivery? Kierra shares her experience of allowing Jesus to provide hope when she experienced a hospital birth that she was not planning for with her first birth. She allowed Jesus to heal her heart and show her where He was the whole time. Because of that experience, a childbirth class called A Heavenly Welcome was birthed out of it and she went on to experience what some women describe as a supernatural high during her second labor and delivery. In fact, it was felt so good she couldn't stop telling the midwives just how great it felt! Fear is the number one factor as to why women experience pain during childbirth. Kierra shares how fear was broken off of her during her second pregnancy and how it's healthy to "worry with God" about certain fears you have. Worrying with God will break every fear you have and you can carry that concept over into any area of fear in your life, not just childbirth. Click here to participate in the conversation and leave a comment! Vigorous women are strong, healthy, and full of energy! The bible says the Hebrew women gave birth so quickly that the midwives couldn't make it on time to carry out Pharaoh's orders of killing the male children. The midwives said it was because the women were "vigorous". “The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women,” the midwives replied. “They are more vigorous and have their babies so quickly that we cannot get there in time.” In this episode I share my first 3 birth stories along with facts about birth that I can't seem to get away from! Most young women are healthy and vibrant during pregnancy making them a perfect candidate for a birth outside of the hospital. The need for constant monitoring, testing and invasive exams is irrelevant and needs to stop. The fear mongering that comes with pregnancy isn't necessary. Pregnancy is a beautiful thing if we will leave it alone and let it develop and progress on its own. We need to stop treating pregnancy as though it is a disease to be treated and rather a natural part of our physiological make-up. "Having a miscarriage and experiencing that with her (Jennifer's midwife) totally, just radically changed what that relationship should be like. You know, between a woman and her caregiver. And that solidified it. I mean if I wasn't sure if I wanted to have a midwife, or a home birth or birth center, that..... and my husband was really impressed too because......she really ministered to him during that time so that was important. And you don't think about that because you're grieving yourself. But she also prioritized him so that was special." Jennifer is a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, a family friend that has been there for me when I needed help with breastfeeding, and knowledgeable in so many areas when it comes to making decisions for your body and baby. She is very passionate about her work and wants to get to the root of things. Jennifer's perspective changed so radically about birth from her first child to her third child that she went from lying about her epidural wearing off to embracing an all natural home birth where pain meds weren't even an option. She gave birth to her first child when they were still giving episiotomies as though they were mandatory and despite her wishes of not wanting an episiotomy or Pitocin with her second child, she ended up being given both right after having the conversation with the OB. Oxytocin is a hormone that causes us to trust, become vulnerable and to become submissive (ok, not in a bad way ladies!) to those around us who are supposed to be taking care of us. You're not in a place to advocate for yourself due to oxytocin. Because of this natural hormone and the state of vulnerability women are in, there can be a breech of power from caregivers who want to speed up a process that is working just fine, even when the birthing mom says she's ok with longer labor and doesn't want the extra meds. I love how Jennifer explained oxytocin and its effects on women during labor. It has given me an even broader perspective on the vulnerable state women are in while bringing their child into the world. Find Jennifer on Facebook Connect with her on IG
"Animals don't do this with epidurals in their spines!" Haha, so very true. Natural childbirth is an innate ability that God has given every woman. Our bodies know exactly what to do without any interventions. Almost every woman, for some crazy reason, wants to experience a natural, physiological birth despite the horror stories they've seen on TV and heard from their well-meaning friends. It is something that is built into us by The Designer and when a woman is able to fulfill that desire, she feels empowered and satisfied. Birth is 99% mental. Preparing yourself mentally for the birthing experience you desire and voicing those desires to your spouse, doula, doctor, midwife, and/or whoever is helping you through labor is very important. Also in this episode, we discuss what a physiological birth is versus a natural birth. Are you actually advocating for a physiological birth but calling it a natural birth? If I could highlight my most favorite part of this podcast it would be this >>>> “.....and that was because the amount of education that came with my midwife and the amount of attention to detail in care and informed consent which was some thing that I lost a little bit of in my hospital experience that was all worth it to do it at home” Midwives are trained to help you set an atmosphere and labor in peace and joy. Their knowledge of how to help you calm your fears, answer questions, change your diet, get into positions, listen to your voice during labor, and encourage you to keep going is a priceless gift. Delana chose a hospital birth with her first and labored for 36 hours with four hours of pushing! Spontaneous pushing by the mother during labor is something that naturally happens when baby is in the pelvis and in position. In hospitals, most women are "coached" on when to push simply because they are "10 cm dilated". That is not always the time a mother needs to push. In turn, mama's are pushing before their bodies are ready to push as in Delana's case and causes much more damage to our bodies. With her second birth she chose home birth and experienced a supernatural high that had her laughing and joking with her midwives for over an hour while she was 9cm!! Natural labor releases surges of oxytocin and endorphins that can actually block pain and help give your body the break it needs to finish the race! When Carly went into labor with her first and opted for an epidural, she didn't know that being forced to lay flat on her back would cause her baby to get "stuck" and eventually end in a c-section. After feeling like her body had failed her and her daughter, she thought her dream of a natural, vaginal birth was lost. She began to research. She found out that she could in fact have a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). When she got pregnant with her second baby, she learned what questions to ask her provider and what answers to listen for. She needed to know if her OB was REALLY an advocate for a VBAC or just giving her an answer she wanted to hear (bait and switch). She quickly learned that her provider was not ACTUALLY an advocate for VBACs despite saying he was. After experiencing a scary health scan, God gave her the peace she needed to switch providers at 28 weeks and prepare for her natural birth, no matter the outcome. Her story is one that every woman needs to hear who is faced with wanting a natural birth after a c-section. Not only is it physically possible, it should be encouraged and you should be supported in your decisions by your healthcare provider. When Jenna was offered an induction at full term with her first pregnancy, she was all for it! She was ready to meet her son and get back to not being.....pregnant. Little did she know what induction really meant. Once her Pitocin induced labor finally kicked into gear, her contractions were uncontrollable, very suddenly! She felt out of control and frustrated trying to deliver her baby without a sense of reality. Because of the interventions offered to her that day, she landed back in the hospital from complications from the catheter. After experiencing such a hard recovery from that experience, and not being informed of the side affects, she decided to prepare herself for an all natural birth with her second and third child. She had full support from her husband and they set out to have the birth they desired. A natural one. Her story is one of redemption and empowerment and proof that women can handle childbirth when they are left alone to labor the way their bodies were intended. Be encouraged by her story! What is Bearfoot Parenting? In this episode I share my heart behind the idea of Bearfoot Parenting. We are all at some point in our parenting life going to make a decision that's different. That's okay. Even when the backhanded comments come from a misunderstanding family member, friend, or church member, we have to stay the course and do what's right for our family. I share 3 biblical characters who were noticed by God as having a different spirit about them and how we can be a parent who raises our children to stand out from the crowd and rise up like David, Caleb, and Daniel to step into a new era and change the atmospheres, people, and neighborhoods around them!
