What if feeling stuck, like you've slipped backward in your healing, isn't a sign the work has failed, but a sign it's finally you've grown more than you think? In this episode of Triggered & True, Laura Duncan and co-host Brian Friese continue their series on how the Compassion Method brings biblical truths to life, this time turning to perseverance, and what to do when your emotional and spiritual growth feels like it's stalled.Brian talks openly about the very human urge to give up when the process feels slow, when no clear milestone appears to be reached, and when people find it tempting to think, "This just isn't working for me." It's learning to be: with yourself, with others, and with God.Together they unpack why we get the order backward, trying to "do to be" instead of "being to do", and why understanding without application only medicates our pain instead of healing it. Laura explains why simplicity creates the consistency that actually rewires the heart and brain, and why chasing the next book or the next technique can feel like progress while quietly keeping us stuck. They dive into the freeing truth for anyone ready to walk away: many of us try to escape our pain by cutting off the marriage, the job, or the church. But drawing on James 1 and Brian's own writing, Laura invites a braver path—turning into the storm within, letting it do its work, and discovering we can often be okay in the very relationships we thought we had to leave. Like the "wax on, wax off" of the Karate Kid, the unseen work is building the muscle for the "I get it" moment, and the times we most want to give up are usually right before it finally clicks. In this episode:

A few years ago, I struggled with feeling like my life wasn't going the way I thought it was supposed to. I felt behind, directionless, and honestly, just STUCK.Looking back, I realized I wasn't necessarily stuck because of my circumstances. I was stuck because I was holding onto things I needed to release. In this episode of Girls in Real Life, I'm getting honest about the things I had to let go of in order to grow. Sometimes we think changing our lives means adding more—coming up with another goal, implementing a new habit, or creating a different plan. But sometimes, the real breakthrough comes when you finally stop chaining yourself to a version of you that no longer wants to exist. If you're feeling stuck, behind, or unsure of what's next, this episode is your reminder that letting go isn't giving up. Sometimes it's the very thing that makes room for what's next.FOLLOW US: @girlsirlpod @mariahhutchinson_ Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE!!

Have you ever wondered why songwriting feels effortless one day — and impossible the next? What if the problem isn't that you're creatively blocked, but that you're in a different stage of the songwriting process? In this episode, I'm looking back on an unexpected discovery. What started as a summer of recording podcast episodes about singing, songwriting, and creativity turned into a deep study of the creative process itself. As I paid attention to my own songwriting practice, I began noticing familiar patterns: gathering ideas, choosing a direction, working through the messy middle, finishing a song, and finally finding the courage to share it. Every stage has its own challenges. Every songwriter gets stuck somewhere. The key isn't trying to force your way through—it's learning to recognize where you are and what that stage is asking of you. Whether you're struggling to find song ideas, stuck halfway through a draft, caught in perfectionism, or having a hard time finishing and sharing your music, this episode will help you locate yourself in the process so you can keep moving forward with greater clarity and confidence. Feeling stuck is not always the same as being stuck. We might respond to a feeling before we’ve identified its source, and when we do, we can end up reacting to the wrong problem. If you’ve ever found yourself wanting to quit your job, transform or abandon a creative project, change direction, or start over completely, it’s worth asking a simple question: What if the thing you’re trying to change isn’t actually what’s making you feel stuck? https://youtu.be/DuUXYBeCK00 Why Feeling Stuck Isn’t Always What It Seems In last weekend’s Notes From a Slow Coach, I wrote about times when we might feel jammed. Things get jammed when too many elements are competing for the limited space available. Ideas, options, other people’s opinions, recommendations, everyday pressures, worries, news, and expectations all compete for our attention until everything starts to feel equally important. When everything feels important, it’s difficult to distinguish the signal from the noise. Are You Really Stuck? Sometimes we do get stuck. Life puts the brakes on where we were heading. A relationship ends. We lose a job. We experience bereavement. A project reaches the end of the road, and we don’t know what to do next. These situations take time to process. Calling ourselves “stuck” might be to misidentify them as problems to solve rather than circumstances to adapt to with self-compassion. When We Solve the Wrong Problem I’ve noticed this pattern in myself many times. I’ll be working on a project that seems to be going well. Then one morning I’ll wake up convinced it needs changing. I’ll start adding features, shifting the focus, rewriting pages, or replacing it altogether. Except the project wasn’t the problem. It had simply become a proxy for something else. Perhaps I was tired after a busy weekend, worried about an upcoming event, or anxious about underlying pressures. Tweaking gives me concrete details to focus on. It provides a feeling of movement and control. I may even convince myself that the thing I’m tweaking is genuinely stuck. It seems I’d often rather rewrite a perfectly good landing page than stop long enough to notice what actually feels jammed. Sometimes the Jam Needs Clearing. Sometimes It Needs Time. Not every traffic jam is the same. Sometimes an obstruction needs removing. Other times you simply need to wait for the traffic to thin out. The important thing is recognising which situation you’re actually in. Some require action. Others require patience. In fact, trying to force movement often becomes part of the jam itself. Three Signs I’m Reacting Rather Than Responding I’ve noticed signs that tell me I’m probably not in the best state to make important changes or decisions. The first is a sudden collapse in confidence. A project I felt good about yesterday suddenly seems completely wrong today. This can feel all-encompassing. But I know if the crisis of confidence has only just begun, I should hold off on acting for a few days. Another is telling myself there’s a magic bullet that can make everything okay. The one correct path. I dismiss perfectly adequate options because they don’t match the image I have in mind of the non-existent perfect one. A third is if I notice myself using action or work to give a feeling of progress, to avoid sitting with discomfort and recognising what might be going on at a deeper level. It doesn’t matter what I do, just do something. Hop lanes. Book alternative transport. At times, the feeling of movement feels better than the feeling of being stuck. Perhaps we’ve come to associate feeling stuck with waiting, patience, and the natural rhythms, processes, and seasons of life. Questions to ask when you’re tempted to respond to feeling stuck with mindless action: Does something actually need to change, or did my mood just change? Would the version of me from yesterday agree with this conclusion? Am I changing this because it genuinely isn’t working, or because I’m simply bored of looking at it today? If I’m bored, what could I do to scratch that itch without affecting the integrity of the underlying structure? These are questions I’ve been exploring for years in Pick The Lock conversations. I’m gathering stories and experiences to build practical resources for navigating those seasons and recurring patterns when we feel stuck. Before we decide what to do next, it helps to know what kind of situation we’re actually in. It began with the Map of Stuckness and Possibility, a free workbook designed to help you identify the landscape you’re in before deciding what to do next. You can download it here.

Most of us talk about stepping outside our comfort zone. Said Eshaghi actually escaped his at 15 years old, without his parents, in the middle of a war. In this inspiring interview, I dig into the mindset behind Said's remarkable journey from Iran to Sweden to San Diego, and the powerful lessons inside his book Escape from Comfort. What if the story you've been telling yourself about being stuck, behind, or not enough is simply a lie on repeat? Special Guest Matthew Penner explores the neuroscience of the mind through Romans 12:1-2, revealing how our brain's "reticular activating system" actually reinforces the narratives we believe—and how God's transformation works through renewing those stories. Sharing his own vulnerable journey from years of physical struggle to completing a 50K at 50, Pastor Matthew shows that even in our stillness, God never stops working. Don't miss this message—it could change the story you tell yourself forever.
Are you feeling wired but tired? Connected yet lonely? Inspired but completely stuck? In this episode of Soul Sessions, Amanda Rieger Green explains why we are experiencing a wild energetic recalibration in 2026. The frequencies of our planet are accelerating, and our physical bodies are struggling to keep up. This can cause us to get sucked back into "recycled energetic loops"—old narratives, resentments, and outdated identities. Instead of digging deeper into psychoanalysis or therapy to fix it, Amanda shares a powerful, highly effective physiological hack involving your subconscious daily habits (like brushing your teeth or driving) to instantly shift your brain hemispheres, create new neural pathways, and elevate your energetic baseline. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why you are feeling massive polarity in your energy field right now. How to become the observer of your consciousness without judgment. The "non-dominant hand" physiological trick to break negative thought loops. Why it’s time to put psychoanalysis on the shelf and focus on physics and physiology. What physical detox symptoms (ringing ears, sleep disruptions) mean for your field. We want to hear from you! What is shifting in your energy field? What are you experiencing telepathically or psychically right now? Are your dreams changing? Host: Amanda Rieger Green Subscribe to Amanda's YouTube HERE! Why do so many women reach midlife and suddenly feel like everything is harder than it used to be? In this powerful conversation, Dr. Mariza sits down with nationally recognized clinical psychologist, behavioral change expert, and author Dr. Rachel Goldman to explore why so many women feel overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, and stuck during major life transitions. Dr. Rachel explains how stress, changing responsibilities, shifting identities, motherhood, career demands, and body changes can create a sense of losing yourself—and why the answer isn't pushing harder, but learning how to respond differently. Together, they discuss the mindset shifts that help women navigate change with more self-compassion, flexibility, and resilience. They also explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and how simple tools from cognitive behavioral therapy can help break patterns that keep us stuck. Dr. Rachel also shares why self-care doesn't have to mean adding another overwhelming task to your list. Instead, small intentional moments like movement, breathing, time outside, connection, and creating a reset can completely shift how you show up in your life. If you've been wondering whether you'll ever feel like yourself again, this episode is a reminder that change doesn't mean you've lost who you are—it may be an invitation to step into your next chapter with more strength and confidence. DR. RACHEL GOLDMAN Dr. Rachel Goldman is a nationally recognized clinical psychologist, behavioral change expert, speaker, and author of When Life Happens: The Mindset Shift You Need to Manage Stress, Build Confidence, and Break Free. We discuss how recovery from anxiety and nervous system stress often happens in uneven, non-linear ways, and how difficult days can make progress feel invisible even when change is still happening. We look at how the nervous system learns through repetition and can also unlearn patterns through repeated experiences of safety. We explore the idea that resistance often reflects protection rather than laziness, and we consider questions such as whether there is actual danger or only familiar discomfort. We also share practical ways to support the nervous system gently, including slow walking, stretching, humming, rocking, placing a hand over the heart, feeling the feet on the floor, and using longer exhalations. We discuss small changes like taking a different route, sitting somewhere new, or listening to unfamiliar music as ways to teach the brain that uncertainty is not automatically dangerous. Finally, we focus on hope, perspective, and self-trust. We suggest borrowing hope from others, reviewing past journal entries, and measuring healing over seasons rather than day by day. We encourage curiosity instead of criticism, noticing signs of progress, and remembering that anxiety is familiar but not identity.#AnxietyRecovery #AnxietyRelief #AnxietyCoachesPodcast #GinaRyan #FeelingStuck #HealingJourney #NervousSystem #NervousSystemRegulation #MentalHealth #Mindfulness #SelfCompassion #GroundingTechniques #StressManagement #Neuroplasticity #EmotionalHealing #PersonalGrowth #SelfCare #Breathwork #LongExhalations #BodyAwareness #WiseMind #AnxiousMind #JournalingForAnxiety #GentleNovelty #BorrowingHope #ProgressInHindsight #MentalWellness #OvercomingAnxiety #SomaticHealing #CopingMechanisms #CalmAndPeace #InternalSafety #CarlRogers #AcceptanceAndChange #NervousSystemSafety #Resilience #MentalHealthAwareness #EmotionalRegulation #PatienceInHealing #SomaticTracking #InnerPeace #AnxietyManagement #MentalHealthSupport #SelfAcceptanceSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
I sometimes notice that I’m feeling stuck. When I’m frustrated, trying to figure something out. Stuck for inspiration when I’m attempting to create something or solve a problem. Stuck in thought patterns and loops. It’s tempting to give up or seek shortcuts when this feeling kicks in, as if it’s something to avoid or overcome. But stuckness can encompass a wide range of experiences and open the door to all sorts of interesting discoveries about ourselves and the things we care about. https://youtu.be/0pIjNB-ZoA4 Feeling Stuck Because You Don’t Know What You Want Sometimes we feel stuck when we don’t know what to do. Not just in the existential sense of “What should I do with my life?”, but in smaller, everyday ways too. We might struggle to choose between two options. We might know what we don’t want, but not be able to identify what we do want. Or the idea of settling on one thing brings a flood of everything we need to sacrifice to do so. Feeling Stuck Because There Are Too Many Possibilities Sometimes stuckness comes from having too many possibilities. Too many interests, projects, and lives we want to live. We need to reconcile and navigate life with our finite time, energy, and capacity without becoming overwhelmed by the abundance of options. Feeling Stuck Because None of the Options Feel Right We might feel stuck when none of the available or obvious options feel right. The choices on offer don’t reflect who we are, or we’re trying to force ourselves into a life designed by someone else for someone else. Perhaps things flowed freely for a while, but they no longer seem to fit. Feeling Stuck Even Though You Know What You Want Sometimes, stuckness comes because we know exactly what we want. But we’re afraid of what choosing it might mean. We might fear what others will think and worry about regretting the sacrifices it asks of us. Feeling Stuck as a Doorway Feeling stuck can be a doorway to self-awareness, curiosity, and discovery. It’s a territory that lends itself perfectly to map-making. Rather than creating a list of things to do, fixes, solutions, missing pieces, and the correct answers, we can treat feeling stuck as a territory to explore. Before deciding what to do, we might ask ourselves where we are and how we got here. The Map of Stuckness and Possibility I didn’t anticipate the map I created over the weekend becoming anything specific. But as I explored these questions, I could feel it coming to life as a mini-zine journal companion workbook centred on a simple question… What do I care about? As simple as that question may seem, it can be difficult for many people to answer, especially those whose decisions, choices, and priorities have been shaped by concern for how their actions will affect others. Maybe something has changed in your life, and you suddenly have more time and space to think about what you want to do. Or perhaps you’ve reached a point where you feel yourself fading away, and you recognise that it’s time to come home to yourself. To figure out what you care about, what’s important, and the shape you want your life to take. A Mini-Zine Journal Workbook The workbook isn’t designed to tell you what to do. That’s never been my approach. Instead, it’s designed to help you slow down long enough to hear yourself, notice where you are and what you care about, and perhaps make surprising discoveries along the way. Meditative Exercise: The Three Pots Metaphor for Discernment and GrowthHave you ever felt stuck, overlooked, or frustrated by a season that seems to lack visible progress? In this episode of The Heartlifter Way, Janell explores the wisdom of three simple terracotta pots—one empty, one sprouting, and one blooming—and how each stage reveals something essential about spiritual growth, discernment, and becoming.Building on Episodes 13 and 14, you'll discover why discernment is the practice of paying attention to God's invitations and how becoming is what happens as we respond to them over time. Through the lens of The Theology of Gentleness, Janell offers a refreshing perspective: what feels like being stuck may actually be a sacred season of preparation and formation.Because the gardener does not love the bloom more than the seed. And every stage belongs.

If you're working on transforming your mindset happiness and Also, if you'd like to go deeper, there is a free Mind-Body Healing deep dive training you can access here. https://brandygillmore.com/self-healing-training/ Have you ever felt stuck on your healing journey, even though you've been doing "all the right things"? So often, people are working with their mind, exploring spirituality, self-help, personal development, and new ideas about the body and healing. And while some of these ideas can feel exciting, mind-expanding, or even empowering at first, they can also create subtle conflict at a deeper subconscious level. For example, a person may begin believing that negative emotions are "stored" or "trapped" in their body and are impacting their health. And while emotions can absolutely show up in the body, there is an important distinction between feeling emotion in the body and believing negative emotions are literally trapped inside of you. That belief may sound helpful or even empowering on the surface. But at a deeper level, it can create a contradictory subconscious emotional response, such as fear, angst, stress, or a sense that something is wrong inside the body. And when the nervous system is receiving that type of fear-based message, it can work against the empowered emotional state that is important for self-healing. Further, when we look at mind-body healing at a deeper level, we can see that a person does not need to "remove" stored emotions from the body in order to begin creating a shift. Instead, when a person begins to recognize that emotions can shift in the present moment, it can feel deeply empowering. It may seem like a small distinction, yet it can elicit a completely different emotional response. And this is just one example. In this quick IQ episode, Brandy Gillmore shares how certain well-intentioned healing, spiritual, and self-help practices can sometimes work against the very transformation a person is trying to create. She unpacks how to begin noticing whether your inner work is helping you feel more empowered, connected, safe, loved, and alive — or whether it may be quietly creating more stress, fear, or conflict beneath the surface. If you have been working on healing yourself and still feel stuck, this episode may help you uncover the hidden patterns quietly working against you, so you can begin shifting your mind in a more loving, empowered direction. -- Important Note: This podcast is for educational and informational purposes only and is not a replacement for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
