This week I sit down with father of 3, passionate man of faith, and my good friend Kelsey Doherty to discuss teens and their faith. What if instilling the faith in our youth was not simply about ensuring they attend Mass and check off the sacrament boxes? What if instead we shared the faith on a more intimate level, bringing in faith and fun through a more engaging medium? Kelsey has piloted an incredible youth program for teens to encourage them to encounter Christ on a more personal and frequent basis. Catholic Pathfinders has been designed to equip our teens far beyond their Confirmation, so they will have a lifelong journey of following Jesus Christ! To Learn More:www.catholicpathfinders.comHave an episode idea you want to hear about? Send us a textWhy does grief feel like an ache that lives in both the heart and the body? The answer lies not just in emotions, but in the brain's wiring. When you love someone, your neural pathways literally rewire to include them in your inner world. Their presence becomes part of your identity, part of your daily map of safety and belonging. When they're gone, your brain faces a profound conflict: one part knows they've passed, while another—shaped by years of attachment—still expects them to be there. This is why grief creates such a powerful neurological crisis, showing up as emotional and physical turmoil. You may catch yourself:Thinking you saw them in a crowdFeeling your heart race at the sound of their nameSaying “a part of me is missing” and truly meaning itThese aren't illusions. Nobel Prize–winning research shows that your brain's object-trace cells can continue firing days after someone is gone. You're grieving not just the person—but who you were with them.Contrary to popular belief, time alone doesn't heal grief. Healing happens through living again—through repatterning, creating new experiences, and allowing your nervous system to update. Along the way, you'll face many emotions: sadness, yearning, anger, guilt, even panic. And grief isn't limited to death—it arises in the loss of relationships, health, identity, or career. If you've felt stuck in prolonged grief, know this: you're not broken. You're simply learning how to update a love that once had a face but now lives inside you.✨ Inside this episode:Why grief is both an emotional and neurological processThe role of object-trace cells in attachment and lossWhy intrusive thoughts and yearnings are part of healing, not signs of weaknessWhy repatterning—not just time—is essential for moving forwardA guided meditation to visualize emotions as leaves in a stream, grounding you in peaceThe people we love change us permanently—their imprint remains in how we think, speak, and dream. With compassion and daily presence, you can take one step at a time, one breath at a time, toward healing. You don't have to walk this journey alone.Support the show

Dr. Jonathan Fisher is a Harvard-trained cardiologist, mindfulness teacher, and organizational well-being leader with three decades of experience in healthcare. A practicing physician and best-selling author of Just One Heart: A Cardiologist's Guide to Healing, Health, and Happiness, Dr. Fisher integrates mind-body science, mindfulness, and compassion to help people live healthier, more connected lives. Through his inspiring keynotes, workshops, and retreats, he has supported thousands—including healthcare professionals and leaders from Fortune 100 companies—to reduce stress, prevent burnout, and embrace a more wholehearted approach to health and well-being.   In today's episode, host Shay Beider talks with Dr. Fisher as they explore the deep connection between healing, health, and happiness—emphasizing that healing is not a stepwise path but a dynamic mix of navigating both pain and joy. Dr. Fisher highlights the four dimensions of the heart, physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental, and he explains how each of these contribute to healing. He also shares how loneliness can have physiological effects on the heart and can lead to higher burnout rates and depression. The duo discusses that healing happens through relationship, and this is especially critical in a world where many Americans lack even one close friend. After personally struggling with burnout for a decade, Dr. Fisher now leads efforts in burnout prevention and compassionate leadership, with a growing interest in how we can heal—together.   Transcripts for this episode are available at: https://www.integrativetouch.org/conversations-on-healing    Show Notes: Check out Jonathan's website here Read his book, Just One Heart: A Cardiologist's Guide to Healing, Health, and Happiness Learn more about Dr. James Doty and listen to his conversation with Shay here Check out Richard Boyatzis and his Conversation on Healing This podcast was created by Integrative Touch (InTouch), which is changing healthcare through human connectivity. It's time to shift the conversation from treating symptoms to healing souls, encouraging listeners to embrace a faith-driven life that transforms fear into empowerment.Key Takeaways:America faces a heart problem that requires a spiritual rather than emotional response. The church often fails to engage with spiritual issues effectively, focusing instead on emotional appeasement.Real change in society starts with spiritual revival, affecting how individuals live and influence others.Without addressing spirituality, society risks engaging in battles that it cannot win.Touching and changing an individual's spirit is crucial for creating a widespread positive shift.Looking for more? Throughout the episode, we discuss how unhealed trauma can manifest in various aspects of our lives—whether through romantic relationships, business interactions, or even physical symptoms. Allana shares powerful insights on how psychedelic somatic therapy (PSI) helps clients address subconscious trauma, guiding them to integrate their emotional pain and reconnect with their bodies. By focusing on somatic healing, she empowers listeners to break free from limiting beliefs and embody their true selves. Key Takeaways: True intimacy starts with developing a deep connection with yourself. Subconscious trauma, often stored in the body, drives many of our relational patterns and choices. Healing trauma isn't just about talk therapy—it's about embodying your experiences and working through them on a physical and emotional level. Somatic therapies, like PSI, allow for the release and integration of deep-seated trauma in a safe and supportive environment. Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences we can face in life. In this episode, Matt O'Neill sits down with grief expert Denise Dielwart to discuss her powerful Flow-Grief-Release Method and learn how to navigate the journey of grief with more ease, joy, and purpose. Denise shares her own personal story of loss and the transformative steps she took to heal herself and ultimately help thousands of others do the same. Whether you're currently grieving or want to be better equipped to support a loved one, this conversation is filled with invaluable insights and practical guidance. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation:  The devastating impact of losing a loved one and the need for tools to cope Introducing the Flow-Grief-Release Method and Denise's expertise The importance of feeling emotions rather than avoiding them Letting go of grief vs. honoring the connection and memories Reframing loss to discover the gifts and live a fulfilling life [08:25] The Importance of Feeling Emotions True healing requires more than just talking about loss. The first crucial step is to acknowledge and fully feel the emotions of grief. To move through the pain, you must be willing to confront it head-on. Denise's method involves "unpeeling the layers" - identifying the specific emotions that you feel and why. Importantly, this is not about rushing from grief to joy. It's about honoring the deep connection and memories you shared with your loved one. By allowing yourself to fully feel, you open the door to genuine, lasting transformation. [13:12] Reclaiming Your Multifaceted Identity Daniele cautions against identifying too strongly with terms like "widow" or "cancer survivor," as these labels can cement our identity in pain and loss, making it harder to move forward. Denise encourages letting go of these restrictive brands and instead focusing on reclaiming our multifaceted identities - as a woman, a friend, a parent, and so much more. By avoiding the temptation to define ourselves solely by our grief, we open the door to rediscovering who we truly are and envisioning the life we want to create, honoring our loved ones in the process. [15:36] Shifting Away from Victimhood When faced with unimaginable loss, it's natural to feel like a victim of circumstance. But dwelling in that mindset will only prolong your suffering. The path to healing requires taking responsibility for your ability to respond. Rather than seeing yourself as powerless, embrace the agency you have to feel your emotions fully, let them go, and reimagine a life that honors your loved one's legacy. By shifting away from victimhood and tapping into your own inner strength, you open the door to growth, joy, and the profound fulfillment that comes from living with purpose. [17:34] How to Release Sadness and Grief Simply journaling about your sad feelings is not enough to release grief. Instead, she advises journaling about what you want for your future and cultivating gratitude. The key is to shift your focus away from dwelling on the pain and towards envisioning the life you want to create. This helps you overcome the old identity tied to your loss and start reimagining a new, joyful path forward. It's not about ignoring the sadness, but actively working to let it go rather than unpacking and living in it.   Welcome to a new season of  Fearless and Free podcast, where we take a holistic, spirit-soul-body approach to healing and wholeness. I am your host Dana Grindal, prayer minister and founder of Whitestone Ministries International.   You have found a safe place to connect with the body of Christ, where we challenge Christians to experience the abundant life of Christ, fearless and free.   In this season, we have been discussing Healing the Heart of the Church.  Today, we are highlighting the need to discuss healing in the area of suicide awareness and prevention. Suicide rates worldwide have skyrocketed in recent years. It is a mental health challenge facing people everywhere.  Every loss of life is a tragedy. When there is a loss of life to suicide in the church, the ripple effects can be long-lasting and devastating when people do not know how to respond. This is an area where we can receive training and help to respond in life-giving ways to our communities.  I have an expert guest here for the next two episodes to help empower us to be a voice of healing.    Join us for this important episode as we:   Discuss important verbiage regarding suicide that can help with the healing process. Clarify common misunderstandings among Christians about suicide. Connect you to practical tools and resources to help you be empowered to know how to respond to walk with those in your community who have lost a loved one to suicide.   ***If you or someone you love has been touched by suicide, help is available.  Contact information is listed at the end of the episode and at the end of these show notes. Our expert guest today is Molly McNamara! Molly McNamara MHA, NE-BC, is the founder and Executive Director of His Whole House. She holds credentials as an ordained/licensed minister, nurse, certified grief & bereavement counselor, and trauma practitioner. Alongside a team of trained prayer therapists, she draws from advanced trauma concepts and science in conjunction with biblical principles in the work of Prayer Ministry.   Contact Molly at WEBSITE: www.hiswholehouse.org EMAIL: healing@hiswholehouse.org   To train individually or as a ministry or business in suicide awareness and prevention, see Molly's training course CARRY+    CARRY+ | His Whole House   For advanced training or to become a prayer minister, sign up at  Home (teachingfellowshipinstitute.org) As the body of Christ, you have the privilege to walk with one another in joy and sorrow.  Romans 12:15 Says, “Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.” There is comfort and healing in the community. The gift of presence is one of the most important and healing gifts you can give to those who are grieving. Where you do not make space to grieve and support one another, where you skim over pain with denial and Christian quotes, you will have trauma buried that will impact you in the future.   If we are seeking a move of God we have to prepare our hearts to receive it and carry the weighty responsibility.  Now is the time for healing the heart of the church, to find healing and wholeness for our own heart, and to move forward fearless and free, to be all He has created us to be.
