Bits & Pieces Presents...

And it's over. I don't know if you had noticed but 2019 is officially history. The keen eyed among you probably notice these kinds of events but it took us a whole month to realise and get a podcast out. In this episode we are going to run through some of the highlight games we played in 2019. George finally played Red Dead Redemption 2, so there is a big bit of chat about that game. Nevi also sings the praises of Sekiro and Hollow Knight. While Gav talks about games that I've forgotten while writing this. If I remember I will add them at the end, if not then that's a nice surprise for you isn't it?

So it's a little late, but we were faster than last year. At this rate, we'll release a UKGE podcast on time in just 7 years! Anyway... Once again, Nevi and George went off to Birmingham to try a load of board games and on this episode they're reporting back on what they played. I now have every intention to continue this podcast series, but I said that last time so I won't make any promises. Ringing in a belated gaming New Year with the first 2019 episode of the Bits & Pieces podcast, the lads gather round to discuss Waluigi-related conspiracy theories and what the year holds in gaming.

It’s a bit late, but it’s Christmas so that’s my excuse. They’re making a new Sonic Movie and Ol’ Blue is looking real weird so obviously, we talked about that. Red Dead Redemption 2, check. God dammnit get that game out on PC, I need to ride off into that sunset sooner or later. Anyway, I’ve been handed a beer and it’s almost 7pm on Christmas Eve. Some other games get a look in I believe, there’s a festive quiz* of sorts, it’s basically a whole podcast. So from all of us have a good Christmas. Assassins Creed: Odyssey, that comes up.

George and Gav here, unfortunately, Nevi was away this episode so there was no one to stop us getting all nostalgic about games that came on multiple discs. It's a blast from the past in this podcast special episode with some chats I had at the 2018 UKGE. Hello! It's time for another Bits & Pieces podcast. This time we have episode number 15 for your listening pleasure.  In this episode, George shares his reforged love of the Brothers in Arms franchise. After that, we Gav tries his darndest to tell us about Slap City, but we go down a rabbit hole of PlayStation All-Stars and other old PlayStation games.  George shares a board game that we picked up at the UK Games Expo called Roll Quest. There was a lot to cover and what was meant to be an hour of efficient electronic entertainment exhibition exposition turned out to be 2 hours of extended electronic entertainment exhibition extrapolation. There's a new Star Wars game by Respawn Will Fallout:76 be ruined by griefers? How faithfully will Forza Horizons recreate the M25 as the racer moves to the UK? Missing the opportunity for a joke about being able to kiss people in Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Love Island. Smash Brothers now features every brother that ever smashed. All that and more, as the boys grapple with the amorphous blob of video games news that oozed out of E3.

Here is a 'Talkthrough' of me playing The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. This is the classic Fighting Fantasy book that started the series. In this podcast, I read through the entire book - or at least as much as you can in a single playthrough.  There is a part in the middle where I get horribly lost and start to lose my mind so I won't hold anything against you if you skip past this section. Trust me it was a lot longer before the edit, but there still a lot of me going "Have I been this way? I've definitely not been this way. Oh wait, yes I have." but if you are happy to listen to a 27-year-old man go insane while reading a book, then enjoy. There is a plan to 'Talkthrough' more of these books as I have a huge stack of them. The next one will be The Citadel of Chaos. Howdy stranger, not seen you roun' these here parts befor'. It has been a while since we have podcasted, I fully accept that. Things happened and we got busy, sorry. Anyway, we are back now. Here to tell you all about Far Cry 5 (and spoil the ending, so keep an ear out for that), Orwell: Ignorance is Strength (and how that is a telling representation of modern-day life), and a quiz about my PSN stats (not the most enthralling quiz, but it was impromptu). Anyway, in this podcast, we look forward to the games that we can't wait to play in 2018. Notable games include Red Dead Redemption 2, Monster Hunter World, The Last of Us 2 and Dragon Quest XI. We also look back on those games that have been left to stew in our pile of shame. These include excellent games like Divinity: Original Sin, Pillars of Eternity, Persona 5 and Nioh. As the winner of last weeks quiz showdown, George has chosen the topic for this podcast. That topic being - Maps. Now, I know we all love a good map. We all love the way the lines look as they outline regions, the text that shows us what a place is and best of all, best of all, we love the pretty colours. Alright so that is probably mostly things I love about maps, but they are all over video games. We use them in most games without even really thinking about it, so it makes for some interesting discussions. Hello again! I can't believe you came back a second time - are you feeling alright? Do you need me to call someone? Nevi and George are joined by another Bits & Pieces man in the form of Gavin. This week the boys are talking about what they bought in the Steam Sale. Nevi has been a good boy this year and didn't buy a single thing (although his wishlist is now bursting at the seams). Gav tells us about Nier Automata and One Shot and George goes into what makes the latest Hitman game so much fun. We cap this section off with a chat about Civilization VI and why Nevi feels like he is done with the series. Moving swiftly onwards, George has been playing Mini Metro (which must have had something do with a very cool article written by a certain someone). Honestly though, Mini Metro is great you should play it. Unfortunately, Nevi discovered that King Arthur 2 is not so great and he explains exactly why this is the case. Finally, we have a fun board games discussion. After getting some games of Ethnos in, Nevi gives his impressions on that. George, on the other hand, has been chasing some poor pale chap around Europe in Fury of Dracula as well as becoming a gem baron in Splendor.

This week we couldn't get enough people together to do a proper podcast. Fortunately, there are a few episodes of the oldcast that haven't been reuploaded and here is one of them. In this first ever GamerTime podcast we discuss Street Fighter V and fighting games in general, Mike isn't all that impressed with Unravel, Chris and I talk about the amazing Firewatch, we have some Dying Light chat and finally discuss The Division. Welcome back to the GamerTime podcast. Nevi here and this week I'm joined by Mike and George. Something really weird happened and my recording stopped for about 20 minutes or so, but then picked back up at the end. I think it was because my mic disagreed with my games of the year, so the last part of the podcast might be a little confusing in parts. I've edited it to limit this, but it will still be a bit odd in places.
