It's a big news week from an unfortunate studio closure to EA selling to a private organization, plus Sony's State of Play and Tokyo Game Show, as well as the RGG Summit. Microsoft continues cracking down on cheap Game Pass options while K-Pop Demon Hunters is coming to Fortnite. Lastly, Sony is the latest company to do a collaboration with Magic the Gathering. #ea #sony #ps5 #tgs #stateofplay #wolverine #kdh #fortnite #mtg #videogames #podcast #aycg #allyoucangeek
It feels like deja vu has hit all over again, with Microsoft announcing yet another price increase on Xbox consoles. Is it really all about macroeconomic conditions? Should we be concerned about what the next-gen Xbox console will actually become? Do Sean and Marc have concerns that there could even be one at this rate? And why haven't Microsoft revealed the price of the ROG Xbox handhelds yet, with less than a month to go now before they go on sale? At least there's some positive news about Xbox Game Pass for once, maybe? On the Sony side of things, Tencent has fired back that Horizon devs at one point expressed concerns about the game being very similar to another gaming series. Are they right? Or is Tencent just grasping at straws? How hyped or not hyped are we for Ghost of Yotei as we inch ever closer to its release? And will we ever get that Bloodborne remake? Plus, an instant reaction to the first trailer to Palworld Devs new game, Palfarm. Borderlands has sold well despite all the performance controversy. Sean gives his thoughts on the Six One Indie Showcase, Marc has been playing the Assassin's Creed Shadows DLC, is he excited about more RPG mechanics in a potential AC Black Flag Remake? What are Marc's Metal Gear games he'd like to see remade? All this and more on this edition of Video Games 2 the MAX. You can also watch this episode in video form on the W2M Network Youtube Channel, please give us a like, comment on the episode, and give the channel a subscribe and follow as well: https://youtube.com/live/On2ESZBg9qo
Jeff Grubb is joined by Britton Peele to start your week with video game news! Today we chat about Silent Hill F reviews, Xbox is increasing the prices of all of their consoles, Bloodborne is on ice for a while, Tokyo Game Show news, and even more to cover the week so far.
This week on The Free Cheese, they made 25 years already? Reflecting on the two and a half decade of video games released since the year 2000, we share our top ten and why we picked them. We also discuss how games have and have not changed in that time and what we expect will be in our top ten in 2050.
It won't end nicely. Not this time. Welcome back to the podcast! Today, on a special epilogue episode, we're going to be taking another look at Bloodborne. This is a FromSoftware action RPG, tragically confined to the Sony ecosystem, but still containing a lot of the genre trappings of the games related to Dark Souls. However, the combat has ben retooled to be faster and more aggressive and the setting has been moved from medieval dark fantasy to gothic and Lovecraftian horror. Similarly to Sekrio, From, even when experimenting with genres and themes outside of their typical wheelhouse, manages to create a shockingly complete package. The mechanics of the notoriously difficult series play into the unfathomable nature of cosmic horror, the gothic werewolf stuff has a consistent narrative throughline into the otherworldly stuff, it's all very well considered. It still uses the Dark/Demon's Souls style of storytelling that leaves the burden of interpretation on the player, but it works especially well in a world in which clear answers would run counter to the game's themes. It's a fantastic game and one we wanted to take another crack at given that it's been eight years since our original episode. We're going to be talking about the interplay between the studio's signature style and the game's themes, how the weapon mechanics change the way you approach Bloodborne compared to other Soulslikes, and we give a massive shoutout to our boy Floory. Thank you for (re) joining us again this week! Without accounting for some anomalies here and there, we've released around three hundred episodes of this podcast over ten years and Bloodborne has been one of those that seemed ripe for the epilogue series given its age relative to how much we like it as a game. If you haven't played the game yet, is it because you don't own a Playstation? That would be a good reason. If you do own one, what's up? Do you hate quality? Let us know in the comments below or over on our Discord! Next time is an extremely special episode leading into some also special announcements, given that it is Episode 200 and on the cusp of our ten year anniversary, so we're finally playing the game that we are the last two people on Earth to have not played, Minecraft! We hope you'll join us then, and keep an eye out for the upcoming news.
Richtig, heraus kommt Hell is Us. Ergänzend muss man auch sagen: Hell is us ist definitiv KEIN Soulslike!

Caked up podcast, goated with the sauce. Welcome back to the podcast! Today, we're going to be looking at the most recent Life is Strange title, Double Exposure. This picks up roughly ten years after the first game in the series and returns to the point of view of Max Caulfield who has not been using her powers. The game largely follows the same trajectory of the more recent games in the series, lacking time reversing powers, it is a narrative adventure game where you make choices in dialogue and occasionally solve puzzles. The character dialogue is as awkward as ever, but it does still have the earnestness that the series is known for. It is, however, much smaller in scope than previous games, with few locations to explore and a reserved, linear plot. Mechanically, there is potentially more to explore with the set of powers available, but it has a smattering of interesting puzzles here and there that put the game's premise to use and it's well worked into the story. Whether you enjoy this game will probably come down mostly to how much you like that story and how it is told, but I think fans of the series (as in, more than just the first game) will find something about it to find endearing. We're going to be talking about the story and how it calls back to the first Life is Strange, how the characters and world building have evolved over time, and lame dudes. Thank you for joining us again this week! I recognize that we talk about Life is Strange fairly often, but it felt appropriate to talk about a podcast favorite series as we inch ever closer to Episode 200. Double Exposure may not reach the highs of the series, but I think it also avoids the lows. How was your experience playing through the game? Let us know in the comments or over on our Discord server! Next time, we're going to be doing a very special epilogue episode where we talk about Bloodborne, something like 9 years after we did it the first time, so I hope you'll join us for that!

This week the big news is that after years of wild anticipation, Silksong is FINALLY being released, causing the entire internet to be in an uproar. Our topic for this week however is us looking back at the generation of PS4 games and top five favorite ones that we played on the system. From Spider-Man to God of War to Bloodborne, there's also plenty of third party games that made our lists.
King of the Hearts, I tell you what. This week, join us for an intro to Lies of P, the Pinocchio Soulslike we never knew we needed. A harsh world that feels like Bloodborne meets a fairy tale is made all the better with an interesting take on difficulty modification, a unique weapon and handle system, and quality of life improvements to obnoxious elements like weapon durability. If only Breath of the Wild had Lies of P's grindstone! We also delve into roguelike climbing with Peak, a solo or co-op mountain adventuring game. There's also a wrap-up on the initial run through Donkey Kong Bananza and a very brief introduction to UFO 50 on the Switch! Check out the show on BlueSky @MarkersOnTheMap.
Grant Us Eyes is a book-length close reading of Bloodborne by literary critic Nathan Wainstein (LA Review of Books, Cartridge Lit, American Book Review). Grant Us Eyes situates the game's oft-discussed difficulty in relation to a much longer tradition of difficult art – surrealist painting, the modernist novel, etc. Wainstein probes the difficulty of Bloodborne's fragmented narrative, the difficulty of its graphical and aural glitches, the difficulty of the philosophical problems it poses, and the difficulty of performing close analysis itself within a medium that still doesn't have established, agreed-upon methods of interpretation in the way literature and film do. Rudolf Thomas Inderst (*1978) enjoys video games since 1985. He received a master's degree in political science, American cultural studies as well as contemporary and recent history from Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich and holds two PhDs in game studies (LMU & University of Passau). Currently, he's teaching as a professor for game design and game studies at the HNU University of Applied Sciences Neu-Ulm, Germany, has submitted his third dissertation at the University of Vechta, holds the position as lead editor at the online journal Titel kulturmagazin for the game section, hosts the German local radio show Replay Value and is editor of the weekly game research newsletter DiGRA D-A-CH Game Studies Watchlist. What if we told you Universal's Epic Universe is the most educational field trip a teacher could plan—and we (almost) prove it? Welcome back to Crying In My Car, a podcast for teachers! Our hosts Devin Siebold and James Yon are joined by special guest content creator Lo, and they make a compelling case for turning Universal's Epic Universe into your next educational school field trip. Physics? Stardust racers have you covered. Bloodborne pathogens? Absolutely done with Monsters Unchained. Communism and child labor? Oddly enough, yes but tune in to find out by which attraction. So how is Florida's newest theme park doing? We got to go and we have a lot of personal opinions, from tall-guy ride struggles to the real reason Dracula's allergic to garlic, whether you've gone or are still waiting to grab your tickets, you don't want to miss this insight to this truly epic park. Now we have more going for us than just theme park excitement, for example we have some thoughts about the French president and his wife who is a teacher. We don't want to give away too much, but let's just say their relationship is interesting to say the least.
