Black Ink Cinema creates a fun film club, dedicated to celebrating all things Black Cinema & TV, at the screenings we carefully select theatres where we welcome our audience with a pampered reception. With a mission of inclusivity to educate the black experience in celebration. Our Podcast aims to bring back to life some well-loved black lead movies, so we've round up a few friends and ask them to select a black lead film that they love and would like to discuss with me.

‘I want to protect them, like they need to be protected, but, nobody was here to protect me' I had the privilege to sit down with Writer/Director Savanah Leah to discuss her debut feature film, Earth Mama. Ms Leaf, an Olympian, delivers a beautiful, elegant love letter to mothers, in this heartwarming, vulnerable film displaying her signature style. Earth Mama is an intimate coming of age story of Gia, a pregnant single mother with two children in the foster care system. As she works to make a life for herself and her kids, she fights the system in hopes of reclaiming her family. An in-depth look at young motherhood, the system and substance abuse. It was a pleasure speaking with news reporter Antoine Allen, who joined us to celebrate black cinema. He chose 1991 cult classic ‘New Jack City'. We explored the different themes in the movie from drugs, exploitation and power. While touching upon Antoine's very impressive career. New Jack city, A crime lord ascends to power and becomes megalomaniacal while a maverick police detective vows to stop him.
Gorgeous 'Secret Crush ITV' presenter Verona Rose, joined us to celebrate black cinema she chose 2006 ‘Phat Girlz'. We explored themes of the film, allowing black women to show their vulnerability and getting comfortable in our own skin. PHAT GIRLZ, an edgy comedy about two frustrated plus-sized women struggling to find love and acceptance in a world full of "hot-bodied" babes.
