New Natural History Museum CIO Alison Davis joined her two predecessors Ian Golding and David Thomas during episode 25 of the CIO UK podcast to discuss digitisation, the sustainability agenda at the Natural History Museum, and the social, scientific and global role the institution has beyond its duties of archiving and displaying its vast collection. LSE Director of Data and Technology Services, Laura Dawson, and Natural History Museum CIO Ian Golding spoke to CIO UK Editor Edward Qualtrough during episode 20 of the CIO UK podcast to discuss some of their recent initiatives, including student onboarding at the London School of Economics and recruiting a new CIO at the Natural History Museum. CIO at the LSE, Dawson spoke about building the business case for tackling technical debt and professionalising the IT function. Speaking under the NHM's 4.5-tonne blue whale skeleton 'Hope' hoisted high in the museum's Hintze Hall, Golding spoke about recent commercial partnerships and recruiting for a new permanent CIO at one of the London's most visited attractions.

Cancer Research UK CIO Tiffany Hall and Dubai Airports EVP Technology and Infrastructure Michael Ibbitson spoke to CIO UK Editor Edward Qualtrough during episode 19 of the CIO UK podcast to discuss the digital transformation initiatives at their organisations, and the corresponding cultural changes which have helped ensure the success of the programmes. Both high-flyers in the 2019 CIO 100, Hall and Ibbitson shared the initiatives they had been delivering with their teams which they felt were recognised by the CIO 100 panel, as well as discussing cyber security, technology innovations like augmented reality and the Internet of Things, sustainability, and accessibility in tech.

Shell Downstream VP and Global CIO Craig Walker spoke to CIO UK Editor Edward Qualtrough during episode 17 of the CIO UK podcast to discuss future business models, tech for good initiatives, and the emerging technologies that will have the biggest impact on Shell and the broader energy sector. Walker shared how Shell was moving from a molecule-based business to an electron-based one, how his pay was now linked to the company's carbon reduction, working for and with people with a disability, and the opportunities provided by technologies like blockchain and autonomous flying vehicles.

CWT EVP and Chief Technology Officer Andrew Jordan spoke to Senior Online Editor Thomas Macaulay during episode 16 of the CIO UK podcast about leading product and tech function at the $1.8 billion revenue corporate and business travel company. Jordan discussed putting data and product at the heart of the organisation’s strategy, taking a leaf from the Silicon Valley startup book by focusing on customer experiences, recent innovations with emerging technologies, and the leadership lessons learned from his recent trip cycling 3,000 miles across the United States.

Reed.co.uk CTO Chris Bradbury, and HMRC's Deputy IT Director of Data Engineering & Delivery, Ashraf Murtada, joined CIO UK Editor Edward Qualtrough to discuss the business, legal and ethical implications of artificial intelligence in episode 15 of the CIO UK podcast. Digesting CIO UK’s recent AI Summit and the launch of its 'Making Artificial Intelligence a Business Reality' report, Bradbury and Murtada spoke about making the business case for AI initiatives, and why your organisation probably doesn't need an AI strategy. The technology executives also discussed their view on AI ethics, and the role CIOs can play in helping their boards and organisation better navigate questions around ethical AI.

Royal Opera House CTO Joe McFadden joined CIO UK Editor Edward Qualtrough during episode 14 of the CIO UK podcast to discuss immersive experiences, ticketing challenges, digital development, sustainability, and the technological aspect of the Open Up project at the 300-year-old institution. The Chief Technology Officer spoke about what digital transformation means for the Royal Opera House and what it might mean in future, and how the ROH Audience Labs team was experimenting with augmented reality, virtual reality and working with leading artists on a number of R&D projects. Tech Talent Charter CEO Debbie Forster MBE spoke to CIO UK Editor Edward Qualtrough following the launch of the 2019 Tech Talent Charter benchmarking report during episode 13 of the CIO UK podcast. Forster had earlier presided over the launch of the report at an event at The Gherkin in London, bringing together signatories of the initiative to share data and best practice in how they are driving inclusion and diversity in their organisations and the UK tech sector.
