Marvel have been coming out with more content than was ever fathomable about 5 years ago with almost every month of the year containing Marvel content being watched and theorised on the Twitter-sphere. An in-depth exploration of these two films will aid in the question posed in the title of the episode - should we say goodbye to legacy franchise films? Enjoy :) Spoilers for Jurassic World: Dominion -> 20:24 - 38:05 Spoilers for Top Gun: Maverick -> 46:08 - 55:00
In this episode, SHE'S BACK AND MORE EXCITABLE THAN EVER! It's the 50th episode and time to shake things up - talking about the question that everyone in the film space has been discussing since the pandemic began, is cinema dying? Three years on from the infamous Martin Scorsese Empire Interview claiming that "Marvel movies aren't cinema", I discuss what this means and the real life implications of this statement. This includes dissecting quotes from the articles written by Scorsese and a recent Netflix report of defunding "passion projects" being green-lit by their studio. Enjoy :) https://www.empireonline.com/movies/features/irishman-week-martin-scorsese-interview/ https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/04/opinion/martin-scorsese-marvel.html

This week's episode is a special one as it is the one year anniversary of this little project I started so I had to pull out all of the stops to make this episode as exciting as possible. This meant that I was not only joined by one guest but TWO special guests talking about the only (valid) topic a group of three can talk about, iconic pop culture trios! Join Kiran, Vaish and I as we breakdown the purpose of trios within media that we consume today as well as where the future of trios would potential go. The second is the cinematography and how - especially in this film - it plays such a crucial role in the emotions the audience feel when watching. Finally, the cinematic score and songs within this film are almost as (dare I say even more) important that the actual dialogue in the film which is an interesting concept to explore. Enjoy :)
