    Valarie Candelaria is a Community Dog Trainer in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.  She started out as a dog owner with a loved but difficult dog, an aggressive 85-lb American Pitbull Terrier that she worried would need to have euthanized.  Searching for solutions, she got a puppy and went to training classes with him. She would then come home and apply the same lessons to her 85-lb Pitbull who responded so well that he eventually overcame his behavioral issues and became a well-trained member of her family. One evening they let their dogs out in the backyard, as usual, when a commotion occurred and they ran back into the house. Millie was violently ill, vomiting, and they immediately thought she had encountered a venomous Sonoran desert toad. As they had been told to do by friends and neighbors, they got out of hose and proceeded to rinse out Millie's mouth to flush out the poison.  However, they eventually realized that something else had happened as they saw her face start to swell and noticed two bite marks. Although Harry had several dogs throughout his lifetime, in his words they were “pets” that he certainly enjoyed but had little time to spend time with while working full-time and raising a family.  That changed when he retired, moved, and about 6 years ago he got a “little” dog that is mostly poodle.  Unlike his previous dogs, Junior is at Harry's side 24/7 and is allowed on the furniture.
