Are you creating content that actually attracts the right clients… or just posting because you feel you should? Do affluent dog owners really spend more on everything — or only on what matters to them? And how can your daycare become one of those things they see as worth paying premium prices for? In this episode, I'm joined by Steven Inala-Reedy from A Content Space, who'll be the special guest at our upcoming Dog Daycare Success Academy immersion event at Lumley Castle. We talk about consistency, content mistakes, why follower count matters less than most people think, and how pet business owners can create meaningful content without spending their entire life glued to a phone. Then, after the break, I dig into what affluent dog owners are really looking for in a dog daycare. Using Tyson Fury, private jets, Asda shopping, Dan Kennedy's affluent marketing lessons, and my own experience helping pet businesses reposition themselves, I explain why wealthy clients don't spend more on everything — they spend more on what matters. And your job is to make your daycare matter. In this episode, you'll discover: Why Content Consistency Wins – How showing up regularly beats chasing viral hits and follower counts. The Real Content Mistake – Why most business owners post without research, structure, or strategy. What Affluent Buyers Value – Why premium clients care about time, expertise, status, convenience, and experience. How to Be Seen As a Pet Pro Expert – Why books, guides, frameworks, awards, and authority assets help you claim top dog status. The Power of Membership and Experience – How exclusivity, themed enrichment, and "velvet rope" positioning attract better clients. Yesterday at my apartment building, a woman whose bulldog attacked a small dog I was walking for a friend threatened to call the police if I kicked her dog. An older woman was walking the bulldog, and it got away and was all over their little dog, trying to eat her. The woman defended her dog even though she was wrong. Have you experienced that—a neighborhood dog out of control? What happened? And what did you do?
At some point, most dog trainers feel incredibly frustrated and unsure of themselves. Their clients are rarely anything like ideal students, and the end results are often disappointing. Today's episode is about what really happens when textbook dog training techniques collide with messy human lives. When training “doesn't work” it is rarely because the methods are wrong – real owners are busy and often skip the “boring” foundations. Most owners follow bits of the plan, hit wobbles, never fully buy into the why behind the protocol and change their goals as training progresses. The net result is that everyone, including the trainer, ends up feeling like the training has failed. In this episode, Jo & Vicky explain how to redesign your coaching, conversations, and programmes so that even when real owners are busy, inconsistent, and primarily focused on making their own lives easier, the training still works and everyone stops feeling like a failure. KEY TAKEAWAYS To get better outcomes, trainers must design coaching for messy, time‑poor real‑world owners, not fantasy clients who do every rep. Often, owners don´t do the homework just because of a lack of time. To them the “boring” foundations don't feel clearly connected to the few specific behavioural problems they want solved. When dog trainers don't make the why of each step obviously relevant to a client´s real-life goals, they only do bits of the plan, hit wobbles, lose confidence, and quietly disengage before the method has had a chance to work. Quick wins create perceived value for clients. They build trust and motivate them to keep going and do the harder things. When trainers explain why each step matters, and the consequences of skipping it in terms of how well-behaved the dog will be in real life, owners can make informed choices and are more likely to commit to the work. BEST MOMENTS “Give them something that is going to get them a result quickly, that is going to add to that bank account of trust.” “You want to create an environment where they can give you that information without feeling judged and without feeling like it's going to be a s**t answer.” “It is gonna be up and down -- it's not ever gone smooth sailing, because it's not supposed to. That is not how we learn as people, as humans.” “This industry that we've created for ourselves is crippling us with imposter syndrome.” EPISODE REOURCES https://podcasts.apple.com/cz/podcast/how-to-stop-speaking-dog-trainer-and-start-speaking-human/id1727170978?i=1000762968318 https://quiz.caninebusinessacademy.com/health-check SOCIALS AND IMPORTANT LINKS https://www.tiktok.com/@letstalkdogbusiness https://www.youtube.com/@LetsTalkDogBusiness Website www.caninebusinessacademy.com Community Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/caninebusinessacademycommunity Let´s Talk Dog Business Strategy Book - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lets-Talk-Dog-Business-Strategy/dp/1068791705 Email: hello@caninebusinessacademy.com ABOUT THE HOSTS Jo Moorcroft and Vicky Davies are dog behaviourists, business strategists, and co-founders of Canine Business Academy—the UK's go-to hub for dog professionals who want more than just a logo and a dream. With a combined passion for dogs and business done properly, Jo and Vicky have helped hundreds of canine professionals build sustainable, profitable businesses rooted in real impact.
Does your dog have a taste for expensive tech or high-end upholstery? On this episode of Word on The Street, Zweli gets real about the chaotic side of dog ownership. From his own Labrador’s expensive appetite for AirPods and a literal car bumper, we explore the hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking reality of living with a furry "demolition crew". We hear from the 947 listeners who have lived through the unthinkable—from a pup that successfully pulled off a KFC heist to another that decided the curtains and blinds were a five-course meal. We also break down the two distinct camps of dog owners: the ones who insist their "fur-baby" could do no wrong, and the ones who have the receipts (and the chewed-up remotes) to prove the truth. It’s a laugh-out-loud celebration of the mischief that makes dog ownership an unpredictable adventure. Spend weekday afternoons with Zweli. He keeps you in the loop with everything from music and movies to sport and pop culture. In this short episode, I break down the truth about lead in herbs and why this issue is more about environmental exposure than contamination. I walk you through how plants absorb heavy metals, why roots like dandelion and turmeric carry higher risk, and how sourcing plays a huge role in safety. I also share what to look for in high quality herbal products, why organic doesn't always mean safer, and how to support your dog's natural detox pathways. In this episode of Puppy Talk, we talk about how many common dog behavior problems are accidentally taught by the owners themselves. Jumping, barking, leash pulling, and attention-seeking habits often continue because, from the dog's perspective, the behavior works. Dogs repeat what gets a result, even when the owner is trying to stop it. We break down a few everyday situations where people unknowingly reinforce bad habits and explain how a simple shift in awareness can help owners start teaching the behaviors they actually want. Trump or Iran, What Is the REAL Threat to America? Yesterday Trump or Iran, What Is the REAL Threat to America? President Trump finally shared his justification with Congress for launching military action against Iran — but the explanation raised more questions than answers. Critics say the briefing failed to show any clear or immediate threat to the United States. As the Middle East conflict continues to evolve by the minute, we break down what's happening and what it could mean for Americans at home. Meanwhile, new research suggests something surprisingly simple may help people live longer: pets. Studies show dog and cat owners may experience better health, reduced stress, and longer life expectancy. But there are important realities to consider too — including responsibility, cost, and the emotional toll when our companions eventually pass. And here's something many Americans are ignoring: nearly half of the country has no will, no trust, no advanced healthcare directive, and no durable power of attorney. What happens if you become ill or incapacitated? Who makes decisions for you? In this episode we talk about why these documents matter and where you can start putting them together. War. Health. Pets. Planning for the future. The Karel Show streams live Monday–Thursday at 10:30 AM PST. Locals set up a formal group, the Monte Cecilia Dog Lovers Incorporated Society, which is roughly 600 members strong, to challenge the decision with a judicial review, which began today. In Episode 352 of The Canine Paradigm, we look at stereotypes of dog owners on social media. First, we talk about how these labels form, why the algorithms reward them, and how that shapes what owners believe about training. Then we contrast two worlds. On one side, ethical and brilliant trainers who teach clearly and show real progress. On the other, clout chasers who market better than they train and turn drama into a business model. We explore how to spot red flags, how to verify claims, and how to find reliable guidance that helps dogs and families. It is a practical guide to cutting through noise, choosing better voices, and keeping the focus where it belongs, on the dog. Clare dog owners are encouraged to get their pets microchipped in advance of Halloween. With an increased usage of fireworks throughout the period, dogs can become distressed and skittish, potentially running away from home to escape the fireworks. This can result in pets getting injured or causing harm to people due to panic.
