Oil tycoon Robert P. McCulloch purchased London Bridge for $2,460,000 on 17th April, 1968. The Victorian structure, which had been sinking into the River Thames at a rate of one inch every eight years, was then dismantled stone by stone and shipped to the USA, where it now bestrides Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The wheeze was the work of advertising executive-turned-London councilor Ivan Luckin, who convinced his colleagues that it might be possible to sell the bridge to pay for the costs of building a new one, and set about a marketing blitz including a press conference in New York in which he invoked the crossing's illustrious Roman history. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly revisit the gaudy launch ceremony; debunk the myth that McCulloch thought he was buying Tower Bridge instead; and reveal that buying the bridge wasn't even this eccentric entrepreneur's wackiest idea… Further Reading: • ‘How London Bridge Ended Up In Arizona' (HISTORY, 2016): https://www.history.com/news/how-london-bridge-ended-up-in-arizona • Inside Arizona's London Bridge (BBC, 2018): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnHy4_P8SCE • ‘London Bridge in America - The Tall Story of a Transatlantic Crossing, By Travis Elborough' (Jonathan Cape, 2013): https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/London_Bridge_in_America/n96uDvKN3ioC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=Ivan+Luckin&pg=PA271&printsec=frontcover Love the show? But, she started her paranormal journey in 2013 with a move to one of the most haunted cities, Savannah, GA. Here she was saturated with the paranormal and got to be part of an episode on Ghost Adventures at one of the haunted properties she worked at, The Gribble House. Eventually, she moved to Los Angeles and started her own haunted tour on Hollywood Blvd guiding others about the glittery dark side. She became a seasoned paranormal investigator, Reiki Master, and healer with a passion for exploring the unseen world for 3 yrs. Then a move to Lake Havasu City, AZ, she started a new tour at the London Bridge, eventually landing her a small feature once again on Ghost Adventures during the pandemic! As an experienced healer, massage therapist, designer and Reiki Master, Kimberly helps others tap into their energy for self-discovery and spirit communication, blending mysticism with practical healing techniques and even designing accessories. Her decades-long, entrepreneurial skills, have her thinking about creating courses and coaching others to start up their own business in the paranormal field as she believes every city should have a haunted tour to entertain the spooky travelers in dark tourism no matter how small the town, there's always a passing need to educate and scare... Terror At London Bridge is a 1985 TV movie in which David Hasselhoff plays Don, a detective arrived in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, just in time for Jack The Ripper to come back to life and start killing people there, and since July 17 is his birthday, there's no better time to talk about it! Sadly, a last-minute scheduling change forced Sarah to excuse herself, but our guest Eve Batey is here to speak on behalf of everyone who can, like Don, truthfully say that true crime is one of their passions. Around The Dial takes us to a detailed discussion of Prime Video's Sausage Party: Foodtopia and the final season of Evil. Our friend Dan Cassino makes the case for X-Men '97's "Remember It" to be inducted into the Canon. Then, after naming the week's Winner(s) and Loser, it's on to a Game Time that doesn't have much to say for itself. Grab your cape and scalpel-- Actually, don't do that; just listen! GUESTS

What does a experiment on obedience to authority have to do with modern gun rights and gun control? Lloyd discusses the lore behind Vault 11 in the game "Fallout New Vegas" and the 1961 Milgram Experiment the lore is based on. It's a cautionary tale about man's willingness to harm his fellow man, so long as an authority figure tells them to. Armed Lutheran Radio is a listener-supported podcast. Frank Murphy is joined by his friend Mitch Moore, who is a freelance writer. Frank saw Mitch in two plays at Flying Anvil Theatre. Mitch is also in a band called Vinyl Tap. Frank enjoyed Mitch's YouTube series, “State of Franklin,” which can be viewed here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-Tj30IQQQv9XbaT3cLnaMVYSZE6oeQDG&si=Yzx57FAoCzOLpWfT Frank met a doctor who thought it cost money to subscribe to YouTube channels. YouTube uses the word “subscribe” the same way Instagram uses the word “follow.” Please subscribe to the Frank & Friends Show on YouTube for free. Mitch and Frank are equally passionate about emphasizing that there is only one S in “Daylight Saving Time.” Frank's best time change experience happened when he and his friend Bean went on a business trip from Los Angeles to Lake Havasu City on the weekend that Daylight Saving Time started. Frank only had to change the clocks on his oven and microwave. He wonders if his next microwave will know the time and other information by being connected to the “internet of things.” This episode is sponsored by BoneZones.com (don't forget the S). Buy books and other merchandise autographed by Body Farm founder Dr. Bill Bass at https://bonezones.com/ including Body Farm t-shirts. Contact BoneZones to hire Frank to give a presentation about Dr. Bass and the Body Farm. Frank enjoyed Mitch's comedy web series “State of Franklin.” In the show, Ben Franklin time-travels to the home of Mitch's character. In addition to acting in the show, Mitch wrote, directed, and edited the episodes. Mitch has done stand-up comedy but finds improv to be daunting. Mitch was the middler on a bill at the Funny Bone in Knoxville when an up-and-coming Drew Carey was the headliner. The club owner fired Drew after three nights and replaced him with Ron White. Frank does improv and finds stand-up to be challenging. Frank did stand-up in a contest called Host with the Most. He prepared by going to several open-mic nights to polish his material. Frank also sold the most tickets to the contest in order to help him win. Season 3 Part 6 of the Travels With Randy Podcast is here! Staying Put For A Week And Justice For Snuffy Part 6 of Randy's yearlong adventure finds him still parked in the desert at Quartzsite, AZ Finally, it was a pretty calm week for Randy - until it wasn't. First, the rain came. A massive storm hit southern Cali and made its' way across Arizona, narrowly missing Randy and his campsite. Then, he gets a phone call.... ....the police have found the man who stole Snuffy, Randy's van! The man was arrested and had Snuffy's car key with him. This fella is a career criminal who even led police on a high-speed chase on one occasion. The man is now in jail and there's a SMALL chance that the police can locate the computer equipment, camera equipment, iphone, ipad, etc etc. The beauty of modern tech is that Randy was able to disable just about everything so none of his devices could be hacked into and be usable by anyone else. We'll keep you posted as this progresses. Randy visits Lake Havasu City, where they have transported and reinstalled the actual London Bridge, and it's....slightly underwhelming. Of course, it's surrounded by a beautiful town that is invaded by Canada's version of the Snowbirds every winter. Cool, eh? Randy and Bubba then Old Man Ramble about the economy, job reports, world conflicts, the effect of the media on us, and much more. They end with a discussion about health and weight loss - nutrition, IF, ice baths, 'use it or lose it' health at their age, etc. Come join the conversation on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/travelswithrandypodcast Have a great idea for the guys? In this touching episode of The Jar, we had the privilege of meeting La'Erica Simms in her apartment in Lake Havasu City, where her five-year-old daughter was home sick, making her an honorary guest. La'Erica, a self-described introvert, initially approached the conversation reservedly. However, as the conversation unfolded, she gradually opened up, revealing her remarkable life journey.Originally from Inglewood, California, La'Erica grew up with her mom and older brother, as her dad was absent from their lives. Her mother, despite battling mental illness, was deeply loved and respected by La'Erica. Nevertheless, she suffered under her mother's abuse, surviving a harrowing murder-suicide attempt that left her with both physical and emotional scars.Following this traumatic event, La'Erica was placed in foster care and eventually sent to live with her grandmother on her mother's side on the East Coast. Unfortunately, this new environment did not offer the stability and support she needed. The conversation delved into La'Erica's experience as a single parent, a topic that weighed heavily on her. She shared her desire to break the cycle of single parenthood due to her past experiences, revealing the guilt and difficulty she faces in finding grace for herself.Despite these challenges, La'Erica finds herself in a good place today. She has a fulfilling job where she is valued, enjoys being part of a recovery group, and is a loving mother to her two children. Her journey through The Jar is a testament to resilience, strength, and the power of transformation. Tune in to hear La'Erica's story, as The Jar continues to engage in real conversations with real people. The London Bridge was sinking into the River Thames and available for purchase when McCulloch decided to buy it. Between dismantling the bridge, transporting it to California, trucking it to Havasu, and then reassembling the bridge, it was an engineering miracle. The bridge was dedicated on October 10, 1971, and remains the second-largest tourist attraction in Arizona, next to the Grand Canyon. If you hate wildlife, water, festivals, events, scenery, and architecture, and if you are really trying to avoid fun, then skip this region of southern Arizona. Because traveling Lake Havasu City miles is guaranteed to end in smiles.

Gov. Katie Hobbs signed Arizona's $17.8 billion state budget into law in record time. Among the winners are Republican pet projects such as money for the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo, funding to repair a bridge in Lake Havasu City, and Democratic wins such as more reliable funding for public schools and investment in more services for the unhoused. But not everyone is happy with the budget or how much of it was constructed behind closed doors. In this bonus episode of The Gaggle, hosts Ron Hansen and Mary Jo Pitzl are joined by reporters Ray Stern and Stacey Barchenger to hash out the wins and losses in this year's state budget.
